Obama agenda: Oral arguments are over

“On Wednesday, it was the Supreme Court’s turn to grapple with a reality that the rest of the country has come to know all too well: the political polarization of the modern Congress,” The Hill writes.

The New York Times: “The day after the Supreme Court suggested that President Obama’s health care law might be in danger of being held unconstitutional, the justices on Wednesday turned their attention to the practical consequences and political realities of such a ruling. The justices seemed divided on both questions before them: What should happen to the rest of the law if the court strikes down its core provision? And was the law’s expansion of the Medicaid program constitutional?”

“The White House has no contingency plans in place in the event the Supreme Court rules the healthcare law is unconstitutional,” The Hill writes. “White House officials said Wednesday they remain “confident” that the healthcare reform law is constitutional and is implementing all the provisions of the law.”

The RNC goads Solicitor General Donald Verilli with this web video harping on his pauses and stumbles.

Gimmicks, House GOP had a few: “The House on Wednesday night unanimously rejected an alternative budget proposal based on President Obama's 2013 budget plan, dispatching it in a 0-414 rout,” The Hill writes. “The vote came just hours after the White House cast the pending vote as a political ‘gimmick,’ an apparent attempt to downplay what many expected to be an ugly-looking vote for the White House.” The bill was introduced by a South Carolina Republican and he “was using Obama's top-line spending and revenue numbers as a budget proposal, without any specifics.”

Michelle Obama will speak at commencements at Virginia Tech and North Carolina A&T, an historically black college. Both are in key swing states.

I know a few people that do work for the Koch bros. They all have great health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and a retirement plan.

We need Bush back to get the gas prices back down. Bam Bam only does what his puppet master George Soros wants him to do.

Whether it is constitutional or not is not the issue for this court. At least two Justices have publicly advocated repeal of this bill. They will declare it unconstitutional whether it actually is or not.

Here is a "healthcare plan" for you. If you want health care,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,pay for it.

Health care is not health insurance,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they are very different. You can walk into any doctors office and purchase any treatment you like for a pre-arranged price from The doctor and they discount for cash. That is called "health care".

Health Insurance is a product you buy to assist you in the purchase of health care. If YOU choose to NOT PURCHASE, health insurance and suddenly you have an EXPENSIVE bill,,,,,,,,,,,,,you are on the hook for your poor choices.

Those dreaded "Koch brothers" employ more than 80,000 people all across America. They no doubt have many health plans and they are probably well run plans to boot.

Health Insurance is not a right

Health care is not a right

Free housing is not a right

Free food is not a right

Free utilities are not a right

Free college is not a right

Free drugs are not a right

Disability or Social Security are not rights,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they are SUPPOSED to be PAID FOR,

    Free cell phones,,,,,,,,,,,,,,not a right

Those of us who work do not "OWE" you a damned thing.

If you want to make health care cheaper for everyone, remove 11,000,000 to 15,000,000 foreign criminal invaders from our nation starting tomorrow.

Insist employers with more than 10 employees carry some form of health insurance for their employees.

Allow the sale of health insurance across state lines and require "non-profit" health insurance companies to use 85% of their premiums for actual health care costs, not "over head" or operating expenses.

Most of all, if you or the rest of the moochers in this country spent a dollar on luxuries like cable TV, I-phones, Tatts, drugs, alcohol, new cars, vacations, pay-per-view, computers or flat screens. YOU CAN AFFORD HEALTH INSURANCE.

YOU JUST CHOSE NOT TO BUY IT.

    Thanks for playing,,,,,,,

The first comment is in the HealthCare Bill being decided by SCOTUS

The second comment...most states would disagree with you as they have their own regs about HC Insurance..and there are no non-profit Health Insurance Companies..even the Blue Cross plans became for profit companies.

    I played

Oral arguments are over. Now the White House can concentrate on implementing the bill, no thanks to the GOPPERS! The good ol teapublitards had to bitch, piss, whine and moan until this health care bill went to the supreme court. Way to go simpletons! Then these same people sent a smelly dead fish to be (hopefully by them) passed. The smelly dead fish was supposed to be a budget? It was nothing more than a smelly dead fish laughable thing! It has no chance of passing the toilet, let alone anything else! The entire conservative party has become the laughing stock of the world!

Republicans are asking for a third time (coronation of Bush and blue fairy magic turning corporations into people) that the highest court legislate from the bench, in spite of the authority of Congress and the Executive Branch of government. 130 million Americans will lose their insurance, students and young adults included, insurance premiums will skyrocket again, insurance companies will again override doctors and patients, the ill will be uninsurable, claims will be denied and policy holders dropped, $100 billion in deficit reduction will evaporate, and anti-corruption enforcement for Medicare will be seriously reduced.

The Republican Party will come to stand for major deterioration in health care and a return to the freeloading off emergency medicine that is bankrupting the health care system. If you cannot get insurance, are unable to pay for insurance, or don't bother to have any, emergency socialized medicine will be given at the expense of policy holders, federal, state, and local treasuries, and drastic increases in the free market cost of health care for everyone. It all will come down to the fact that Democrats used the Republican's mandate plan instead of a single payer system. The mandate plan was fair and democratic. It is a shame that today's Republicans are neither fair or democratic and have little regard for the health and lives of American citizens. They are all about the people that the Supreme Court created, not God.

If the ACA is struck down because it's un-Constitutional for Congress to require Americans buy health insurance, how long will it be before a lawsuit is filed against Medicare?

Both the ACA and Medicare are based on the fact that at some point citizens need health care. Based on comments from the justices, some would strike down Medicare. However, two justices seemed to say Medicare is Constitutional, but their questioning implied they think the ACA is not because it requires Americans to pay for insurance they may never need (same as Medicare).

Seriously, how the heck can any of these so called wise justices argue that Medicare is Constitutional but the American Care Act is not Constitutional on the grounds that some Americans will never need these services. Those who do not live until 65 will not receive Medicare.

I respect justices who argue for both or against both. At least they stick to their beliefs. Those who argue for Medicare, but against the ACA are clearly playing politics.

Debbie, Maybe if you would read the transcripts of the hearings at the Supreme Court you would find your answer about medicare. Medicare is a TAX, which congress has a right to levy/raise. The ACA is a PENALTY, which congress might not have a right to levy/raise, depending on the Courts ruling. Had the congress and Obama said that everyone would have to pay a tax to pay for health insurance we might not be in Court now. The difference between a TAX and a PENALTY is one thing that the Court is wrestling with.

IMO, the democrats did not want to look like they were raising taxes on the American people for another health care plan so they decided to call it a penalty.

You do not have to participate in Medicare.

You do not have to participate in Social Security.

If you dislike the programs, you simply refuse to sign up for them.

Obamacare is completely different, you have to sign up, you have to pay and if you somehow manage to get treatment, what type of treatment you get is decided by a ""Treatment Panel".

The" Treatment Panel/Death Panel" will decide if you deserve treatment based on age, income, race and poltical party. No doubt you are as good as dead if you voted for the wrong group or have wealth the government would like to seize.

When people with bad intentions make a law,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it is no great leap to expect them to do bad things with their newfound power. Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Soros, Obama,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all cut from the same cloth.

If you are employed, you must participate in medicare and social security. These taxes are withheld from your check and if you are self-employed, you must pay them on your tax return.

            #8.1 - Thu Mar 29, 2012 4:25 PM EDT

You have to pay, it is a tax. You do not have to take a dime from either program and can refuse the "benefits".

Mitt Romney refused to draw Social Security, thus leaving all the taxes he paid into the system for others to enjoy.

Obamacare was/is portrayed as something other than a tax. It is an "insurance program" with FORCED PARTICIPATION.

Sort of like those "re-education" programs other great socialists and communist leaders compel their citizens to participate in.

Most infamous marxist, communist and socialist leaders use forced participation as part of their nation re-education strategy, Obama is no different.

Harvard University studies demonstrated that, under the old system, lack of health care insurance killed 45,000 Americans annually. The AHA focuses on prevention and early treatment of the insured, thus reducing deaths among those that have insurance. To put it bluntly, Republican ideology is destined to kill, by neglect, tens of thousands of Americans every year, and put policy prices more and more out of reach. We are the only developed nation on the planet that does not provide universal health care and tolerates high infant mortality rates and the needless deaths of untold tens of thousands of the elderly, men, women, and children in the name of Republican Party ideology. What right to life is that? Health care Holocaust is a Republican thing.

One of the NPR commentators said it best. The Supreme Court was designed to be not political ( not elected, lifetime terms ), yet if the vote goes 5 vs 4 it would be the five republican appointed judges striking down the most major democratic legislation passed in 30 years. Not sure Judge Roberts wants to put the Supreme Court into that light in history - because its pretty obvious that they would be voting along political lines. What would the country have to do to get good health care? Wait until some of those five judges retired? Because the Republicans have not offered any viable solutions to our healthcare problem.
