“The House on Thursday is poised to approve Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) budget measure, which would give Republicans a much-needed lift after months of intra-party squabbling,” The Hill says.
“After two failed efforts to pass a short-term extension of surface transportation law, House Republican leaders plan to take up a 90-day extension today in an effort to avert a shutdown of federal highway programs on Saturday,” Roll Call reports.
“House Republicans went on the offensive Wednesday in the fight over federal transportation funding, with a plan to pass an extension under normal House rules before they adjourn for recess,” The Hill writes. “A 90-day extension of current law that provides funding for road and transit projects, which expired in 2009, was sent to the House Rules Committee on Wednesday evening.”
“Hoping to use the two-week Easter recess to ramp up the GOP’s attacks on President Barack Obama’s energy policies, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy laid out a messaging agenda today designed to highlight the differences between the two parties’ energy development proposals,” Roll Call reports.

This bill is going nowhere. From what I've seen of this proposal, it would gut the safety net, eliminate medicare, as we know it now and raise taxes on the poor and middle class, while providing huge tax cuts to the wealthy. Moreover, it does nothing to reduce the debt for years to come. Do these Republican extremists actually believe the voters are so naive they would approve this abomination? I'll be looking for forward to Willard trying to defend this flawed bill during the presidential debates. Obama is on the way to a landslide re-election victory.
If you're a democrat, you have to love this! After caterwauling about Simpson-Bowles for an interminable length of time, the G.O.P. tighten the death spiral so the auguring in is really deep. Then, defying the principal that you can't dig yourself out of a hole, they double down with the Ryan "budget". What electoral cinder block won't these chuckleheads embrace as they dive into the electoral pool? Such tomfoolish numbskullery, it is to laugh, HAH.
I do love the way the GOP is doubling down on this farce, but still I have to be concerned that the low information voters, the tea party types, will fall for this nonsense. Right now, Obama is looking good in the national polls. He's ahead in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, three must win swing states. If Romney and the Republicans embrace Ryan's proposal, Hopefully, the educated voters will prevail and kill this bill and re-elect Obama.
It's going to die in the Senate. Paul Ryan is an idiot if he thinks that the sane segment of the population is going to go along with this stupid plan.
This is a religious document. It sacrifices the elderly, disabled, unemployed, poor, women's health care, and education to place offerings at the feet of the gods of extreme wealth. Praying for collusion and campaign financing is more effective when offerings and vicarious sacrifices are given.
This bill is a dead fish! Just like Ryan! There is no way this bill will pass the smell test! Except with the restupiCants, and they know this wont float! This is purely laughable stuff! OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
this congress wants to keep taxes from going through for the idle elite rich. except when this involves middle and lowerclass american citizens payments and entitlements. the working americans pay deductions for all these payments and entitlements.
especially for the salary of congressman before during and after their term in office. congress are given health insurance professional lifestyles and any other profits from the american taxpayer deductions. all americans need to stop this stupid bought and paid for tax attitude by all congressmen who plegded grover norquist (and all business that support this illegal promise).
watch out for the re-election on your seats in the capitol dome. since americans are fed up with your stinking bi-partizan attitudes against us and our life to provide a living status in our country. we will vote you out because someone has to support our ideas and family values. you are living on the edge when you defy what is doing what Americans want for our best interests.
i don't care if i was yelling in my last post. since you in congress do not think we pay you enough to do our bidding. which is why we elected you in the 1st place.
