HOCKESSIN, Del. -- Marking the first presidential candidate visit to Delaware this cycle, Newt Gingrich criticized President Obama’s comments to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev as “alarming behavior.”
“This is a president who is amazingly destructive of American interests,” Gingrich said inside firehouse here. “He promises the Russian president as soon as he gets the election out of the way, he'll sell out the American missile defense system. They need to give him a little ‘space’ so he can be flexible right after the election.”
Gingrich, who spoke before a county-level Republican meeting on Monday evening, focused his roughly 40-minute speech on energy – a theme he hopes will carry him to a comeback in the race.
“I believe you can develop a Republican campaign that despite a billion dollars in Obama money, despite the bias of the elite media, despite the power of the incumbent presidency,” he said. “You can defeat him by picking your fights carefully and sticking to them.”
Monday’s event, held in a state that doesn’t vote for another three weeks, also seemed to signal a new phase in the campaign. Event attendees were allowed to take pictures with the candidate for $50 per photo. Before tonight, supporters took photos with Gingrich for free.
Charging for photos, in addition to news that the campaign canceled a trip to North Carolina, contributes to the narrative that Gingrich is struggling to stay afloat financially.
But, Gingrich continues to vow to stay in the race even until Delaware votes on April 24th.
“It would mean a whole lot and I do think if we win Delaware it helps reset this campaign for the ninth or tenth time. This has been the wildest roller coaster I have ever seen,” Gingrich said, speaking to hundreds. “You can make history here in Delaware and both Callista and I will be back regularly for the next few weeks because we do need your help and we do want your support.”

I guess it had to be a photo op for $50 a photo, otherwise Gingrich might make a fool of himself by fighting with the attendees over a $50 a plate dinner.
$50.00 is a lot of money for a photograph of Gingrich that is ultimately going to be used on a dartboard or to paper the bottom of someone's canary cage.
A sign a chubby candidate might be running low on cash.

I just don't comprehend how anyone would pay 50 dollars for a photo of themselves meeting some other dude, especially not some losing candidate. There will be no mention of him in the future history books, every decade that passes people will care less and less about a man who's only claim to fame in government was putting himself in the middle of the Clinton scandal, which only ended up making him a hypocrit, which too will be forgotten.
At the risk of insulting prostitutes I'd say he is and always has been, nothing more than a whore.
Shuklak - I think you're wrong about his place in history. The current do nothing congress is a direct result of Gingrich and the Republicans winning Congress in 1994. They have been unwilling to work with Dems ever since then. His confrontational leadership style, together with his bullying nature created this impasse. And history will record this horrible situation.

Newt charging for photos is right up there with Trayvon Martin's mother (Sybrina Fulton) seeking trademarks last week for the phrases “I Am Trayvon” and “Justice for Trayvon”.....uh.....almost.
Newt has never held a real job in his life, he knew whe n he started this campaign that he had no chance off winning, he only ran to pad his bank account and to get his fat face on camera. he is a typical republican who leaches off the public while calling the very taxpayers who he steals from leaches themselves for expecting something in return for their taxes, Newt and others like him are truly what is wrong with America. Once we exile the pod people from the GOP to Newt's moon base the world will be a much safer place for real humans.

mom always said, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"...but, seriously, i think it lends perspective that over 10-15 years ago i was getting $20-50 for polaroid photos with adult feature entertainers. the quality was not very good, but the fringe benefits were great...kinda like being a wannabe president. hey, if we can call feature entertainers strippers, then surely we can call the newtered one a candidate!

@FXSTC - While it appears a little creepy on the surface that Trayvon's mother has trademarked his name, I am glad she did think of it (or someone advised her of it). If she hadn't of done it, then there would have been someone else out there before long making money off his name. If she holds the trademark, she can either use it to make money (which I would hope would be contributed to an appropriate cause) or she can prevent other's who really don't give a damn about this young man from capitalizing on him.
Gingrich is a candidate funded mostly by pro-Israel special interest groups. He has sold out to a foreign power. I'm glad he has zero chance of winning the nomination.

Gingrich won't be the republican candidate, but hopefully he'll pay all of his campaign bills. Remember any presidential candidates in the recent past whom were accused of not paying their tabs? If $50 a photo gets the past due bills paid, I say that's ok.

On a good day, a ticket to Disney costs less than fifty dollars, and you can have your picture taken with as many fantasy figures as you'd like -- all of whom have a firmer grasp on reality than does Mr. Gingrich. Given how he's treated his wives, Newt appears to have a lot in common with Beast (of Beauty and the Beast). But more of his demeanor seems to be a blending of the seven dwarfs.
I`d turn him down if he offered ME the $50. Delaware I have no problem with, but that state isn`t going to have a heavy effect on the nomination. Meaning no insult, but Cal., NY, Tex, and Pa (and maybe NC) will likely decide it.

It is not beyond comprehension, or perhaps just perception, that having a political ringer or two in the roll of the dice for a presidential candidate would help to solidify a weak candidate’s position. Is it even necessary to resort to some random game to manipulate the results? Rolling the dice is not needed at all? If the favored candidate has been long known, has run before, and has been exposed with weaknesses, those copious facts for the basis of a ‘candidates economy’, a set of known variables, input data, parameters to the latest release of gaming analysis software. There have been no expressed policies or ideas of anything that will lead to solid result. For example one ringer has attacked one of the Earth’s most important substances Oxygen, really didn’t hear that, so I’m supposed believe either the ringer or the dingdong, the progression from algae (photosynthesis equals oxygen) to every bit of the green earth is to be discounted because some ringer, used the public ignorance, to diatribe x, y, z. (Bad teachers make dumb students, leaving them ignorant, so defund education is the solution for ignorance.) Yet as counted you expect me (as ignorant masses) to associate algae with an important topic as energy for the economy, costing $300 billion imported oil and the $300 billion domestic for energy is equal to algae? The energy that is bankrupting the economy is equal to algae? The ringer is demonic with power? Is the energy policy that hard to understand? Is gas for your car familiar?
