Meet The Press was actually pretty good this week, seemed to have more substance than ususal.

I couldn't believe David Gregory, however, when he listed the things Obama promised pre-election: withdraw troops from Iraq, pass healthcare reform and address gas prices, and then he pounces on gas prices, as if withdrawing troops and passing historic legislation was nothing compared to the fact gas is as high now as it was during the Bush administration! He was giddy with excitement at pushing this "failure."

And you wonder why Americans think the media is shallow. I swear, the press are like a bunch of ADHD teenagers, they move as one gang, and they don't THINK.

Hey, Americans have been addicted to oil for decades; even Bush decried the manufacture of gas guzzling SUV's in the 90's. Americans have only slowly come to understand the need to adjust to the reality the days of cheap gas are gone. Gas is high, and President Obama has done everything he could to move the development of alternative energy along. Most mature people (not the press, apparently) understand this.

I'll tell you Amy - I've only watched Meet the Press once. While I like Gregory's personality, as an interviewer - I don't care for his style - he jumps around too much. I'm sure he is forced into that delivery because of our limited ability to focus on an issue (ha), but his round tables,(in particular) just jump around in circles.

Morning Joe jumps around like that too. Since I've only started watching TV recently, I don't know if they all do that across the board or not.

I did watch Up with Chris Hayes yesterday morning and I liked the way he went in depth -many different aspects of the same issue. And he went from point A to point B. This jumping around in circles business just irritates me.

Yesterday, instead of watching "Meet the Press", I went to his transcripts. I'm honestly more of a written word person anyway.

Transcripts are an interesting way to experience the interviews, aren't they? I'm a visual person, so I tend to watch facial expressions and mannerisms, as much as I listen to what is said - Peggy Noonan drives me crazy, because her body language just signals pure contempt, while her words may read in a more neutral tone.

I see Gregory in the role of ringmaster of MTP; he has to move things along and keep it lively, while covering certain points. Sometimes I'm sympathetic to him, other times he makes me mad. I suspect he's a Republican, but he does have pretty eyes. (That's me being shallow :)
