It was a tough week for Rick Santorum, suggesting that it would be better to elect Barack Obama than an "Etch-A-Sketch" Republican like Mitt Romney and then walking it back.
Now he's out with an over-the-top apocalyptic web video in the vein of every zombie movie ever made, depicting a stark world with vacant streets, boarded up buildings, and empty children's swings -- all caused by a president's "failed policies" particularly toward Iran.
The video even flashes an image of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and President Obama.
Santorum spokesman Hogan Gidley called it "absurd" to think the campaign is comparing President Obama with the Iranian leader.
But that's not the only eyebrow raising aspect of this ad, titled "ObamaVille." It is supposed to take place in a "small American town two years from now if Obama is re-elected." At one point, a man is pressing a gas nozzle against his head. At another point an imagine of a man in an orange jump suit is quickly followed by one of a baby in a crib.
"If Ahmadinejad gets a nuclear weapon, then we're obviously going to deal with the fallout and coverage of that," Gidley said defending the ad. "All we're going to be seeing is images of him and the president. We were trying to illustrate that."
He said it is the first in a series of ObamaVille ads. It's the work of senior strategist John Brabender.

Santorum = Stupid is as stupid does.
Obama= stupid does and stupid is
We need to scratch the whole bunch and start over.
fear mongering at its finest
I thought it was hilarious! Not scary...
Little Ricky--the eternal gift to Democrats. Go Ricky! More! More!
Oh Ricky. I wanna know where you picked up this strategist. I hope you're not banking on the votes of the educated or remotely sensible population. I look forward to further Obamaville clips.
I've long said that Santorum is the scariest man running for president, but I guess that I never truly understood my feelings until now. This is his vision of America under Obama? This goes to prove exactly what we already knew, the only people who believe in him are the uneducated religious zealots who actually believe in the apocalypse and would actually buy into this video. But to tell you the truth I would have thought Newt would have come up with something like this, not Santorum. After seeing this I actually became physically sick to my stomach that Rick is somebody who could potentially be someone in charge of this country. The only thing scarier is there are too many people who believe this garbage. We aren't separated by class, race, or wealth in this country. We are separated by sane and insane, and the insanity doesn't seem to be losing momentum it seems to be gaining...
Well said. I couldn't agree more.
excellent post brother...... but I beg to differ about your comment on momentum, just of the fact that no one really responded to this thread tells me that most people have or have begun to feel the same way you and I do. The media ,by covering every outlandish event in this campaign (this is sort of like tabloid coverage by the major networks) is giving us a false sense that more people are listening to this crap than actually are.
In 1968 then candidate Nixon believed in the "silent majority" every paper was covering anti war activities, the hippie movement, in sort of the same manner the press is covering these antics. No one thought Nixon had a chance, however, he won and credited his win to the silent mmajority who did not go out and protest but quietly went to vote
If you dead republicans would get off your ass and do something other than trying to get elected, you wouldn't have to be worried about two years from now!
Right now, we say you are WRONG! It's ALL GOING TO HAPPEN IN 2013! Your party brought ALL this on with 8 yrs. of corrupt rule! SO LIVE WITH IT!
lol, and Obama will finish it off with his horrible leadership.
In reference to the home school comments, my daughter is now in home school status in Florida because I've had it with the state's negative impact on our public education. I'm not the only person who has reached the conclusion that the tactics and testing push are more about destroying public education rather than building it up. A lot of those decision makers want all education privatized for narrow interests. This does not serve the students of our state. Thankfully, I've got the educational background to cover high school courses. I'm sure my methods vary greatly from those who use home education due to religious reasons. Personally, I want my daughter to have a solid foundation that will prepare her for a higher education and to embrace a diverse world.
Dont get me started on my unfair state of Florida! the floridian citizens would rather get their 5 dollars extra in their paycheck due to tax cut than have a state of the art, educational system and a system that responds to Florida's most vulnerable, they would rather pay 300 dollars to get tags for your carinstead of having the state subsidize the cost.
The republican candidates have proved themselves to be cruel and uncaring for their fellow Americans, IMO.
Kinda like the current POTUS...you really think he cares about you? lol
Santorum's apocalypse will happen at the convention. The Republican party's will happen in November.

All Hail! President...Santorum? -
What is wrong with you Republicans? Here is your campaign slogan... If your last name is not Soros, if you are not carrying a UAW card, and if you did not take a Federal bank Bailout in 2008, guess what, we, the Democrats have the audacity to hope that you will stay home and not vote this November!
You're travelling through another dimension, it is a dimension as vast as time and space and as timeless as infinity. It is the murky ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition and it lies between the pit of a man's fear and the height of his ambitions. It is a journey into a heinous land whose boundaries are that of fear and loathing. That's the sign post up ahead...your next stop... the Santorum Zone.
Submitted for your approval...Anytown U.S.A.; only marginally troubled by the toil and roil of the outside world, however two years into the Santorum presidency one can see something is fundamentally wrong. Numerous wars over declining resources that serve out-moded technologies have withered the national treasury. As a result, Benjamin Franklin's post office system is dismantled, and private correspondence is a thing of the past. Only roads that serve high priority military bases and industrial manufactories are maintained , meaning most other roads are impassable by modern vehicles. This is a moot point however, as the world's response to our military aggression has caused the prices of external energy and commodity resources to become exorbitantly high; as a result, people with horses and to a certain extant motorcycles do any travelling. The economic consequences are such that most citizens have replaced their lawns with "True Freedom" gardens, which allows them to supplement their community protein rations, which are provided by the federal government on a faith-based distribution system. Health care is extremely rationed, as most health professionals are busy conducting trans-vaginal probes to ensure that America's next generation of warriors are cared for to proper military specifications. And as always , it never applies to the esteemed care-takers of Anytown, the job creators, those captains of Industry and the unmakers of Nature and the artificers of woe, the One Percent.
This is a dimension of dementation. It is an area which we call the Santorum Zone.
Beautifully written and very creative. Thank you.
Wait, I can see it now. The Adventures of Ricky, Matty and Newtie. They frolic, they forage and shoot little arrows at frogs. What a threesome. Often they get lost in the forest. That's when Ricky begins crying for his mommy, Matty takes out his Etch a Sketch and Newtie eats twelve candy bars. What a gang, Dumb but fun!!!!
Its about time we start working on the state Republican morons. They have been getting a free ride for to long.I would like to see some seeds about their dastardly deads of late.
Republicans have not a single clue about how to be real leaders. Instead of encouraging the country, making the people feel good about themselves, self-reliant, Republicans are always pitching FEAR. They have no message except "the world is an evil place and only WE can protect you." That is it. The extent of their message.
And of course the only way to protect us is to remove any semblance of freedom we have. If we have freedom, so do our enemies when they come here so it must be eliminated. They also need us to be completely turned against one another. Anyone who is even slightly different than you is the enemy!!!
We have two legitimate Republican candidates and both are from EXTREME fringe Christian cults and two of the wealthiest cults, Mormonism and Catholizism. Opus Dei members are freaking NUTS!!! They TORTURE themselves. Physically torture themselves!!! Romneys religion was founded by a con man wanted in several States!!! And BOTH of these nut bags are trying to use religion to divide us into little pieces, a tried and true tactic of the Church for millennia.
the video maybe right ,just that the depiction is or could be not usa but israel.
Fact: Economy crushed by GWB, but steadily recovering under Obama.
Fact: Oil prices spiked under GWB worse than under Obama.
Fact: US oil consumption has declined and domestic production increased during Obama's term.
Fact: Iranian facilities cyberattacked and scientists assasinated on Obama's watch, and he has never taken military action off the table.
Fact: Obama has not proposed a single measure to restrict religion (or guns) during his term.
Oh, and HE GOT BIN LADEN.
I thought conservative were supposedly so tough and manly...if you ask me, they seem act like a bunch of hysterical panic-stricken little b****es.
Is it opposite day???
I don't know what's more disturbing: The ad, or the fact that so many GOP voters actually feel this way. What a bunch of lemmings.
Republicans don't deal in facts..in FACT they stay as far away as possible from the facts...so don't waste your breathe by talking facts to republicans...try fairy tale stories of how great things were in the 1950's, Reagan and the bible. I think we should all start agreeing with them and see if reverse psychology works..It works on 4 year olds!!!
I love it! Oh, give me more! Political ad's at their BEST!
