It seems to me that in 2008 the country was ready for a knock down drag out fight after the Bush years. And we had one - for the entire year. Everybody got into it. And no fight was worse than the one we saw within the Democratic Party - Kucinich v Obama v Edwards v Clinton.

Yet just 4 years later we see a presidential primary that is strictly off the wall in the GOP. It is either lies or culture issues. Or how best to protect the wealthy. That's it. And they are spending billions.

No where do any of us see where Romney stands on anything. All he does is try and turn the president's words and/or actions around, no matter what it is. Yet all he seems to accomplish is putting his big foot in his mouth time and time again. Because everything that comes out of it is false. It takes Think Progress and bloggers all of 20 minutes to shoot holes into whatever he has to say.

President Obama rarely has to explain himself and he always leaves a good impression wherever he goes. I know I feel better about our country whenever he speaks.

For me personally there just is no contest this election. Obama v Romney? Seriously? Romney is the guy who thought he was going to breeze to the nomination by staying away from the press. And when the press tries to get him to answer the simpliest questions, he just walks away. He's never had to stand and fight. President Obama has to do it every single day, yet still handles himself with a tremendous amount of grace.

We have a president who we get the feeling is not only the smartest man in the room, but also the most thoughtful and dignified.

If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon.

So so sad.

President Obama is who we want; he's who we need. And in 2012, just about all Democrats will be as one to see him re-elected.

The Democratic Party has come a long way in four years. It has not been easy, but we survived - as one. We can hold our heads up high.

The GOP just keeps going backwards. That's not the America we should be striving for if we want to be one of the supposed leaders of the world.

In order to be a leader, one must behave like a leader. President Obama is doing just that on our behalf. Romney? No. Not once.

This is what CBS did last night:

They showed a large map of the US with a heavy line through it, going from Canada through the Cushing to the Gulf Coast. (The GOP/Koch Pipeline Fantasy money-maker and fantasy gas-producer and fantasy job-creator.)

Then someone said you can put one foot on the Cushing connection, but your other foot will not connect going North - horror of horrors. And whichever spin they gave it - who did they blame? Well kids, they blamed it on the President.

The alternative route that will avoid Nebraska and the Ogallala Aquifer - the one that Nebraska Governor said NO to - has not yet been identified. Nothing to do or say until it is. Nothing to approve. Nothing to block. Zero, zero, zero.

The President said yesterday yet again, that when that the alternate route is found, and after TransCanada re-applies for a permit....guess what? Oh yeh -the Administration will review it. It will be reviewed. That part of the pipeline going north from Cushing will be reviewed. It will be reviewed, reviewed, reviewed...

So why do they tell this phony false story? It is a lie they are telling over and over. Romney here, Boehner told the same CBS version on Thursday and the American Crossroads Ads ran the same thing -----while the President was working to move America forward into the 21st century, with his all-of-the-above approach to American Energy.

Neither part of the environmentally and economically dangerous Keystone XL Pipeline should have been approved. I am disappointed in Obama for his south-part signoff, and downright disturbed by Romney's plan to get the rest done.

We do not need to dignify this sort of sick policy.

President Obama NEVER said he wouldn't approve the Keystone XL Pipeline project - he has been waiting for an alternative route that didn't go through the Aquifers in Nebraska. The Republican Nebraskan Governor does not approve of the original route because of the Aquifers. Also, the Republicans didn't vote yes to keep the oil from this project inside the United States (not to be sold to other countries) which the Democrats are in favor of - only makes sense right?

Is any one else in the United States sick of Romney's constant lieing about anything and everything President Obama has ever said or done? Even when the independent fact checkers report Romney's lies, he never apologizes or corrects his statements. Do we really want someone who refuses to tell the truth as our President?

Romney once argued his only connection to GOP was party registration.

What terrorist is Obama friends with exactly? Also Obama's energy policy makes more sense than drill baby drill. We do need an all of the above approach to energy Solendra was a mistake, but we can't let that prevent us from trying to develop green energy yes including solar power.

If Romney apologized to America, would anyone believe it was sincere?

In Ankara, I made clear that America is not -- and never will be -- at war with Islam. (Applause.) We will, however, relentlessly confront violent extremists who pose a grave threat to our security -- because we reject the same thing that people of all faiths reject: the killing of innocent men, women, and children. And it is my first duty as President to protect the American people.

The situation in Afghanistan demonstrates America's goals, and our need to work together. Over seven years ago, the United States pursued al Qaeda and the Taliban with broad international support. We did not go by choice; we went because of necessity. I'm aware that there's still some who would question or even justify the events of 9/11. But let us be clear: Al Qaeda killed nearly 3,000 people on that day. The victims were innocent men, women and children from America and many other nations who had done nothing to harm anybody. And yet al Qaeda chose to ruthlessly murder these people, claimed credit for the attack, and even now states their determination to kill on a massive scale. They have affiliates in many countries and are trying to expand their reach. These are not opinions to be debated; these are facts to be dealt with.

Now, make no mistake: We do not want to keep our troops in Afghanistan. We see no military -- we seek no military bases there. It is agonizing for America to lose our young men and women. It is costly and politically difficult to continue this conflict. We would gladly bring every single one of our troops home if we could be confident that there were not violent extremists in Afghanistan and now Pakistan determined to kill as many Americans as they possibly can. But that is not yet the case.

And yet Bush is painted as WRONG now, Obama used the word Necessity and the phrase "not by choice". And that sums up WHY Bush as re-elected!!!

Let me also address the issue of Iraq. Unlike Afghanistan, Iraq was a war of choice that provoked strong differences in my country and around the world. Although I believe that the Iraqi people are ultimately better off without the tyranny of Saddam Hussein, I also believe that events in Iraq have reminded America of the need to use diplomacy and build international consensus to resolve our problems whenever possible. (Applause.) Indeed, we can recall the words of Thomas Jefferson, who said: "I hope that our wisdom will grow with our power, and teach us that the less we use our power the greater it will be."

And finally, just as America can never tolerate violence by extremists, we must never alter or forget our principles. Nine-eleven was an enormous trauma to our country. The fear and anger that it provoked was understandable, but in some cases, it led us to act contrary to our traditions and our ideals. We are taking concrete actions to change course. I have unequivocally prohibited the use of torture by the United States, and I have ordered the prison at Guantanamo Bay closed by early next year. (Applause.)

I understand those who protest that some countries have weapons that others do not. No single nation should pick and choose which nation holds nuclear weapons. And that's why I strongly reaffirmed America's commitment to seek a world in which no nations hold nuclear weapons. (Applause.) And any nation -- including Iran -- should have the right to access peaceful nuclear power if it complies with its responsibilities under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. That commitment is at the core of the treaty, and it must be kept for all who fully abide by it. And I'm hopeful that all countries in the region can share in this goal.

This last point is important because there are some who advocate for democracy only when they're out of power; once in power, they are ruthless in suppressing the rights of others. (Applause.) So no matter where it takes hold, government of the people and by the people sets a single standard for all who would hold power: You must maintain your power through consent, not coercion; you must respect the rights of minorities, and participate with a spirit of tolerance and compromise; you must place the interests of your people and the legitimate workings of the political process above your party. Without these ingredients, elections alone do not make true democracy.

ok Where did he apologize for America?

Did we receive apologies for the burning of our flag? No Did we receive apologies for the burning of bibles? No Did we receive apologies for the event of 9-11? No just the opposite in fact, we got cheered for dying!!! Do we ever receive apologies for any wrong doing by another nation? Nope

So why is our POTUS apologizing for anything? Oh yeah, its to calm the people down that are outraged by our Nation, right? You and I can be offended by someone burning our flag, bibles and for 9-11, but we do not need to be placated and soothed, we apparently are so well behaved we can have more taxes imposed, more laws imposed and we just sit back happy as clams, not caring that our pride is being thrown into the burn pile, or that our bodies took weeks to dig up from the rubble. We are just fine with being called the lazy and uneducated. Nope no problems here right. Sure we have fought in multiple wars beside multiple ethnicity varied folks, died for skin a different color from our own, never even questioning the sacrifice based on color, died for people of diff religions than our own. We have done everything to move forward and promote freedom for any who come here and tried to help other nations, even without being asked publicly.

Guess what folks, we can never apologize enough to make the world a bright sunshiny place, we can spend all our money and everyone elses and it will never be enough to buy other nations true freedom, we can give great speeches all day long about not wanting to interfere with others right by force yet we pass laws insisting people buy health insurance or be fined, we can never be tolerant enough bc there will always be those who will tolerate nothing but complete submission to their ways, we can elect all the multi ethnicity, multi religious, muilt partied presidents we want and it will never be enough to satisfy the entire mass. We can keep giving until there is nothing to give bc there will always be those who will keep taking and NEVER giving. We can argue about religious rights while forcing un-biblical beliefs on religious organizations, it will never be over.

We can sit here today totally sure Obama is the best man for the job, just like Apparently everybody thought Bush was the man for the job TWICE. Then Obama got elected and it turns out Bush had been a very bad boy, right? Clinton - elected twice= Bad boy right? So what makes everybody on here just so peachy king sure that Obama will be the one POTUS to get re-elected and have nothing COME out after his terms are up? It is almost statistically impossible for him to not screw up. I would like to see a demo bash Obama the same way I can bash all my GOP candidates!!!

Yes, I am a Ron Paul fan, but mainly for the simple reasons and he sure is consistent and he apologizes for HIS MISTAKES and that of his fellow politicians. I am not a big fan of some of his other more goofy issues, but I agree that our govt has left our hands and has gone into the 'soon to be next big loser after the fact' Presidents or candidates. If RP did everything he wants to do ALL on his first day, our nation would collapse from sheer shock, then it might collapse economically but I have more faith in my fellow citizens than our govt does.

I am terrified to see what we find out AFTER Obamas 2nd term. Just terrified and you folks should be as well!!! Course as it stands I would be horrified to see the end of a Ron Paul term. The things we find out afterwards are just shocking!!! At this point all we are missing is a woman disguised as a man!!!

BTW has Obama apologized the Native Americans whose treaty we broke? Bet not, bc they have one heck of a claim against the govt', but too much pride to sue!!! But if Obama was to knowledge that WE broke a treaty he would have started the first step to correcting it and that would never happen.
