DNC makes another Etch A Sketch video

We noted earlier that Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum again used Etch A Sketches today.

Well, the DNC now has cut its second anti-Mitt Romney Etch A Sketch video.

While Democrats and rivals are having fun with this and continuing to try and fuel a narrative, the buzz around this has died down considerably today and you wonder when -- or if -- it jumps the shark.

By the way, CNBC reports that the biggest benefactor from all this might be the maker of the toy.

It reports: Ohio Art, the company that makes Etch A Sketch, saw its stock jump up a whopping 212.5 percent today.

I have a feeling that this will become a part of political jargon, but I really doubt it will hurt Mittens too much. It is good for a chuckle though! It's hard to believe that his own campaign people came up with this! They are as gaff prone as he is!

The only thing that seems logical at this point is that Romney and his people bought stock in Ohio Art a couple of days ago and are know cashing in.

Sorry, but that's the best I can come up for anyone in Romney's inner circle to have made the comment about Etch-A-Sketch.

But a problem for Mitt “Etch-A-Sketch” Romney will be the improving economy, however slow, and the improving unemployment rate.

First time jobless claims dropped another 5,000 last week to yet another 4 year low for the 4th week in a row the BLS reported this morning.

Oh, and don’t forget as of April 7th tens of thousands of people will drop off the unemployment payroll because of the extension restrictions put in the bill by the Republicans which will inadvertently cause the rate to drop even lower in May for the April BLS jobs report.

"It is good for a chuckle though"

Yes good for a chuckle but after the chuckle, goes words like stupid, foolish, really, what was he thinking e.t.c. and right there lies the problem for Mitt. A good chuckle can really hurt.

_________________________________________

Dennis: The unemployment rate is based on a DOL BLS household survey of 60,000 households and the ONLY criteria to be counted as unemployed is that you don't have a job and you have looked for one in the prior four weeks. Collecting an unemployment check is not required to be counted as unemployed. For example, a mother re-entering the workforce because her children are old enough to be on their own would not be getting an unemployment check, but, would be counted as unemployed under the criteria above.

Just another lefty liberal talking through his ass.

Very true Joe but when the phone call comes hundreds or thousands that are no longer getting a check will say they are no longer looking for work.

I understand the survey!

@Pen,

You may well be right Pen, but it's a long way to November, and the electorate only seems to care about what has happened in the last three weeks. I hope this does follow Mitt all the way to the voting booth!

How about: "Dumb as a bag of hammers"

Here's another one: "That guy is fired" (Romney did say he likes to fire people).

In the last three days, Romney has created more jobs in the Etch-a-Sketch factory that Obama has created in three years.

And, American Girl, Romney never said that he liked to fire people. He said he liked to be able to fire people. Huge difference.

Tis comical that the GOP/TP candidates make this so easy for the Democrats. They might as well change their campaign platforms to "Vote Obama".

Unless you look at almost anything Obama has actually done in the last three years.

Considering how the primaries have been run, I think they must also be using Etch-A-Sketch's to tally their votes. How else to explain the constantly changing numbers.

This has legs because it was what everybody was already thinking about Mitt Romney's ever changing positions about every single issue, if it did not perfectly describe him it would have probably gone unnoticed.

Governor Etchasketch is going to have trouble "shaking this one off", especially since he's too cowardly to go on any major news outlet to defend himself. What's wrong gov, afraid an interviewer might ask some tough questions and "shake up" your flimsy narrative? The thought of facing any decent journalist has him "shaking in his mittens".

I guess promising to protect a woman's right to choose is very conservative. If Romney was a conservative governor then he should have the same views now as then.

      How come they are different?

Romney whose beliefs and core values don't last any longer than your doodles on your etch-a-sketch and this is the one that the republicans are pinning all their hopes on.

I sort of like Obama's ad...complains about him being CONSERVATIVE!! As far as the "gaffe" it WAS NOT Romney who said it, it was STUPID to make a big deal out of it when it was clear what he meant - of course he will start over- a different idiot to run against!! What is REALLY STUPID is Gingrich and Santorum running around with a kid's toy in their hands...shows how DESPERATE they are!! GROW UP GUYS!!

Right, it was Romney's Senior Advisor who said it, so what's the difference, THAT IS THEIR PLAN.

We know what he meant, he meant, everything Romney said during the Primaries was all B.S.

He meant that he has to talk one way to the psychos and the Teabaggers, and then another way to regular folks.

Every time Mitt Romney tries to change his position from the primary position to his new general election position the democrats will run an etch a sketch ad. Mitt Romney will either stay a severe conservative or be a liberal Mass governor. Will the real Mitt Romney stand up, stand up, Will the real Mitt Romney stand up????

There was the comit by Mitt that he did not care about the extremely poor in that speach. Some how the Etch-A-sketch deal seems to try to hide it. I was looking at a break bown of incomes in DC and it came out like 27% over a quater of a million. 57% had incomes of less than ten thousand. Now if we could get the 57% to vote and have none of the above on the ballet we might have a new election.
