Republican presidential candidate and former Senator Rick Santorum holds up an Etch-a-sketch while addressing supporters at a "Get Out The Vote" rally in Mandeville, La., March 21, 2012.
ARBUTUS, MD -- Mitt Romney said he plans to run on the same issues in the general election as he has in the primary in response to a top aide's comment likening Romney's pivot to the general election to an Etch A Sketch.
Romney acted to hastily control the damage resulting from comments by adviser Eric Fehrnstrom on CNN, which prompted a day's worth of attacks from Democrats, as well as Romney's Republican rivals.
Romney told reporters following his lone event today that while his campaign will change organization, the issues on which he'll run "will be exactly the same."
"I'm running as a conservative Republican," he said. "I'll be running as a conservative Republican nominee."
The comments gave Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich a new weapon to use against Romney, figuratively and literally illustrating their case that the former Massachusetts governor is only a conservative of political convenience.
Mitt Romney said he plans to run on the same issues in the general election as he has in the primary in response to a top aide's comment likening Romney's pivot to the general election to an Etch A Sketch.
The two men, who lag behind Romney in the delegate count, jumped at the opportunity to attack Romney after a senior adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom, this morning compared moving into the general election campaign to the children’s toy this morning, saying, “you can kind of shake it up and restart all of over again.”
Both Gingrich and Santorum brought small Etch A Sketch toys to their afternoon events in the state of Louisiana.
“We're not looking for someone who's the Etch A Sketch candidate,” Santorum said after pulling out the toy during his event in Mandeville. “We're looking for someone who writes what they believe in in stone and stands true to what they say."
Santorum even told the crowd it was “the first of what I’m going to now call my ‘Etch A Sketch Tour of America.'"
“Given everybody's fears about Gov. Romney's flip flops, to have his communications director say publicly to all of us, if we're dumb enough to nominate him we should expect by the acceptance speech he'll move back to the left, triggers everything we should worry about,” Gingrich said as he began his town hall in Lake Charles, where he appeared holding the toy. "I think having an Etch A Sketch as your campaign model, raises every doubt about where we're going."
The former House speaker handed the popular childhood toy to a little girl sitting in the front row of the Harlequin Steaks and Seafood restaurant and joked, “You can now be a presidential candidate.” (Gingrich went on and autographed the toy for her after the event.)
Santorum said he purchased his Etch A Sketch at a Toys R Us store “down the way” while the Gingrich campaign simply said they bought the “Cars” themed toy today.
But the two candidates themselves were not alone in their purchases.
More than 2,000 miles away outside Romney's Arbutus event, Santorum’s press secretary was passing out mini Etch A Sketches in the parking lot.
Holding the one remaining toy she had yet to distribute, Alice Stewart told reporters this “gaffe” from a top Romney advisor “confirms what a lot of conservative have been afraid of.”
“The campaign acknowledged that his [Romney’s] conservative credentials can come and go with the climate, just like an Etch A Sketch, and we can’t have that,” Stewart said.
Romney had initially refused to address Fehrnstrom’s Etch A Sketch comments while asked several times on the ropeline following his event in Maryland.
“I’m not doing a press conference right now, OK?” Romney told reporters.
One group that does seem happy with all the buzz of the children’s toy today is the Ohio Art Company, the Etch A Sketch manufacturer.
"Happy to see Etch A Sketch, an American classic toy, is DRAWING attention with political candidates as a cultural icon and important piece of our society," said Nicole Gresh, spokeswoman for the manufacturer. "A profound toy, highly recognized and loved by all, is now SHAKING up the national debate. Nothing is as quintessentially American as Etch A Sketch and a good old fashion political debate.”
Alex Moe reported from Lake Charles, LA. Jamie Novogrod reported from Mandeville, LA.

Wonder how long it will be before some heads roll over in Camp Willard...
What an @sswipe!
Willard is a MA moderate running around the country dressed up in a sheep costume!
PERIOD!
Man, it has to SUCK to be a right winger this year! lol
Very funny, that bit about Gingrich and Santorum bringing an Etch A Sketch to their "afternoon events," but unless Newt gets out of the race, the last laugh will be with Romney, the candidate most severe conservative that republicans don't want.
Note that he says he is "running as a conservative Republican"---not that he IS a conservative Republican. At least he is telling the truth about that, for now anyway.
You just can't make this stuff up.
When I think of Mittens and an Etch a Sketch, I am reminded of that Dilbert cartoon with boss, pointy hair! LMFAO,...cracks me up!
by '...lone event today...' do they mean a single attendee? lol
You might say Willard is not a large enough 'DRAW', yuk, yuk!
We have no choice but to vote for Romney if he gets the nomination. The incompt in the White House is out of excuses. The left's worst nightmare would be Romney turning out to be another Reagan, appointing at least one more Supreme Court justice like Scalia and Rehnquist.
No choice but to vote for Romney? Sucks doesnt it? HAHAA
Anybody wanna bet Romney can't WAIT to switch his message to "moderate"?
If Romney is smart, and there's rumor going around that he just might be, then Romney already KNOWS he cannot win a general election by pushing the Teabaggers' Agenda, which only amounts to 26% of Republicans and an even lesser percentage when you consider all voters.
Republicans don't even like the Teabaggers they sent up during the mid-terms who promissed "JOBS JOBS JOBS" and we haven't seen not one "JOB" yet that was created as a result of Teabagger principles.
Obama / Biden 2012
Republicans didn't want Reagan either. They wanted the more moderate Bush. In the end, not only did Reagan trounce Carter, but he left a long lasting Supreme Court legacy.
TO: Road Warrior-252445 who wrote:
Well, but Reagan was a little different too. Reagan was a Democrat and was the Governor of the State of California who did a lot of wonderful things for California and then a lot of wonderful things when Reagan got the Oval Office FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
With Mitt "The Jobs Cremator" Romney, nobody knows WHO we'll be getting, especially since Romney made his millions liquidating American Businesses, confiscating Employee Pensions, and shipping American Jobs Overseas.
What would we bet on if Romney took office, should we bet that American Businesses are going to fail, that American Jobs will be sent overseas, and as a result we'll suffer another catastropic economic decline because THAT is ALL Mitt Romney knows how to do?
Hell no. Romney is not fit to be POTUS because he made his millions betting that everybody and everything around him would fail, and clearly everything did and he's a mega-millionaire as a result of all those failures.
Obama / Biden 2012
Mitt needs to stay on message. Maybe he can borrow an Etch A Sketch to draw one up. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set. And, if that one doesn't work....re-set.
Mitt may create a ton of jobs....at the Ohio Art Company. If past history means anything, Mittens is going to wear out a buttload of Etch A Sketches between now and November.
I hear Santorum is REALLY upset that he's been turning his iPad upside down and shaking it to reboot it for 2 years now. <props to Scott Adams>
Reagan cut taxes and spent money he did not have. As Senator Bentsen once cracked, "Let me write billions in red ink and I, too, can give the illusion of prosperity." America has still not retired Reagan's red ink.
fiesty crackhead - it sucks to be an American with half a brain for the last 3 years. Watching the rolling disaster and abdject failure that is the obama "presidency" and knowing there are braindeads like you out there that are so stupid and uninformed that you would actually vote for this prancing little fraud again
Feisty Redhead
I love your logo, it reminds me the great Fox News (fair and balanced). The only news network not controlled by Obama.
Half a brain is much better than your clueless stance. Yes, let's vote to institute the same policies that brought us to financial disaster a few years ago. Doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.
Floyd,
Would that be the same Dumb FUX news with the least educated viewers?
Only to those who never made it past the 8th grade! ;o)
Ya and it will be great next year when your boy is out of the White House and we are starting to head back in the right direction.
The entire Republican party is "Etch-a-sketch" party. Why blame Romney alone.
What is conservative in spending billions in wars. What is conservative in party that believes in deficits don't matter. What is conservative that doesn't believe in education and spends so much energy on arguing over where life begins.
Damnit!
Who lowered the troll bridge?
What is up with calling the President of the United States 'boy'?
It's okay Bob lot's of #'s - you can just go ahead and say n!gger - cause it's what you really meant!
See, I understand all the racist code... ;o)
And if the GOP had any balls, they would ban contracts between employer and employees so no bitching out $$$$$$$ people make.
He used to operating that way.
When you take over companies, you promise not to take it apart, you promise the union that there will be jobs, you make it sound the way you need to to get the board's vote.
Then you buy the company.
Then you do what you want.
Romney isn't a flip-flopper... he's a practiced liar.
Even the center should be wary. We don't know if he has a serious conviction in his body.
Bob...have you any shame? Do you realize that referring to an adult African American man as "boy" is the height of racism?
Do you burn the crosses with Rush, or does he just tell you how?
I know. They're coming out of the woodwork like roaches. Must be the early summer weather. Hopefully a nice cold snap back to reality will send them into hibernation.
Wasn't Willard a "severe conservative" a couple of weeks ago? Will he be severe? Or just moderately conservative? Or maybe moderately severely conservative? Or just a "suck up to the independent voters" conservatively moderately d***head?
The trolls come out in droves at the behest of big-money whenever the candidates make gaffes... their mission is to distract and deflect.
LOL. Good luck with that. Romney's campaign just dropped a grenade on Romney... a tough one to deflect.
Tony,
It is usually what happens when you shine a light on them! ;o)
Shocked & Disgusted,
Notice how little Bob - scurried off? Must of been late for his Klan Bake!
So what company makes the Etch A Sketch? And good ole Bob what's to go back to Republicans running the country again - they did such a bang up job the last time.
“Let’s not play games,” Obama stated. “What I was suggesting – you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you’re absolutely right that that has not come.”
LOL
Fiesty, Um,it was you that said,"ni--er". It is offensive to everyone and it is certainly not"okay"! Even if it comes from a "Dumb Fux" like you.
Willard ought to be very used to Etch A Sketch - yet another company which has fired all its workers and shipped the jobs off to China.
Take it on down the road - Junior Simpleton!
Like I said - I am fluent in race baiting code words...
Why do YOU find it acceptable to call the POTUS a 'boy'?
Is he NOT a grown man?
You may now resume watching brainless drivel on Dumb Fux & Freaks!
PS: The sound you hear, is your dryer buzzing - YOUR white sheets are dry!
Now where did I put that can of roach spray...
BTW: that's the OHIO Art company. They actually used to produce the product in Ohio, until 2001 (the year Bush took his appointment to the Presidency) then they moved production to China.
Mittens, Etch a sketch, Rob-us-blind, Flip Flop Romnut, the 1%'er actually 0.006% COOPERATE RAIDER and one time governor of Liberal Mass but now he is an arch conservative. Has supported Abortion, Gay Rights, Gun Control, Stem Cell Research and has reverse himself on all of these issues.
He took both sides on the financial bailout, the stimulus bill, the auto loan package;
His biggest Flip-Flop of all Health Care Reform The national Law is modeled on the one that he championed as governor in Mass that requires every citizen to have health insurance. Now he has Flipped-Flopped. Mr. Flop has taken a hard slide to the right pandering and boot licking to the tea party.
Mitt Flip-Flop Rob-us-blind, a wishy-washy, flip flopping spineless politician without any core convictions, principals or believes a man who will say or do anything to get elected telling one crowd one thing and another crowd another. You simply can’t trust this guy to tell you the truth.
The only good thing that would happen if Flip-Flop were to get elected It would prove that Conservatism is dead as Flip-Flop would stab the Conservatives in the back.
Mitt Flip Flop Romney LMAO
Yawn. When will candidates start proffering realistic (i.e., neither far-left nor far-right) scenarios and solutions instead of playing 'gotcha' politics?
On second thought, what am I thinking?
Fisted Roadhead, Why do you feel that you should push the envelope and call the president a n!gger? Calling him boy or your reference,I find it offensive either way, if you don't well that's who you are.Your a$$ is in the air on this one and you know it!
@American Girl: Reagan was once a Dumbocrat in the 50s & 60s when he was the head of the Screen Actor's Guild, but as a politician he won the governor's seat in California and the Presidency as a Republican.
@ORB 1943: Reagan's financial policies led to the biggest economic boom this country has seen since the end of WWII. Bill Clinton was still riding the wave 12 years later when he robbed the Social Security trust fund to create a false surplus. Also, Reagan's military spending goaded the Soviet Union into bankruptcy trying to match us.
@feistyredhead & shockedanddisgusted: If you are determined to find hate speech everywhere you look, you will find it. Bob's calling Obama "your boy" was referring to him being so young and inexperienced. Same as calling him a "man-child", a "boy-king" or a spoiled little brat. YOU are the racists. YOU are the ones determined to find racism in everyone else's comments, even if you have to make sh!t up.
Anyone BUT Obama/Biteme in 2012. ;p
Dude - I hate to break it to you - but I wouldn't "BITE" you with someone elses teeth! I have this issue with sanitary!
Are we clear NOW?
Now go burn a cross or lynch someone will ya? Make sure you don't spill any of the gas on your shoes or something sweetheart! ☺
PS: Can someone find the roach repellent?
So Santorum is going to shake the etch a sketch himself now and rename it the etch a sketch candidate campaign. Face it the etch a sketch is a good analogy for every politician. They say one thing on the soap box and you can be certain that what they say on the stump is exactly the opposite of what they are going to do. Shake it up gang. You are not the alternative to Obama at all. You are everything you hate. We all are.
It's one thing to be labeled a cynical political chameleon by the opposition, but when a high level campaign staffer labels his own wannabe as an Etch-A-Sketch candidate, it takes on a whole 'nother meaning. Mitt will be wearing this necktie for quite a while.
Fiesty....Klan bake....beautiful!!!! I can't stop laughing.
I think bob got his hood turned around and is now typing racial slurs on the waffle iron.
@Feisty: First off, EWWWW! I wouldn't LET you bite me, even with someone else's teeth!
Your veep is the one who told someone to "bite me" during the 2008 campaign, which led to the epithet (that's a fancy word for "nickname)
Are WE clear now?
YOUR party fought the civil rights legislation.
YOUR party enacted the Jim Crow laws.
YOUR party is the one making it easier and easier to be lazy, stupid and poor.
YOUR party is the one that started the KKK.
ARE WE CLEAR NOW?!?
Excuse me... was I talking to YOU?
Not that I want to dive to your level, however, that would be OUR VEEP & don't that chap your ass? lol
With any luck...
This is the best thing that could have happened to the Etch-A-Sketch company. They're going to sell a million of these just because of the huge Romney campaign gaffe.
Not the best plan for creating jobs, but I'll give credit where credit is due...
However will I be able to sleep tonight - when all of you collapse cowards are working overtime?
LMFAO!
Dang! I just walked into this saloon and all I see are overturned tables, broken bottles, and Feisty standing in the middle of the room with a smile on her face! Have you been playing nice, Feisty?
@Feisty:
Not talking to me? Then why did you quote me in your little rant (#1.43)?
As far as diving to my level, since I had to wade into the shallow end of the gene pool in order to respond to your thread in the first place, I'll take that as an unintended compliment.
I hate the collapse cowards too. It's much more fun to argue. It's too bad that 90% of them collapse only conservative points of view, rather than debating them. Censorship sucks. I wish they'd do away with the collapse feature altogether and just go with a thumbs up/thumbs down voting system.
Sailcat - you should know better by now - I take NO prisoners! ☺
PS: If you consider naughty being 'nice' then I'm your girl!
*yawn*
Naughty's fine by me, Feisty! Well done!
Etch A Sketch...now that's classic. Even the Romney campaign itself paints Mittens as the flip flopper he is.
Easy Sailcat we'll let you know when we'll unhook your dog collar so your cuckold a$$ can clean your mistress! Sleep well Feisty, nothing like a sunset over Roselle,Il. No wait, you're in the nut house in Elgin, and your computer time is running out! LMFAO !
I'll take an Etch-a-Sketch over carved in stone when it comes to these two. Mitt may flip from "conservative" to moderate/liberal, and I can live with that. But Santorum's prehistoric caveman stone carvings leave me cold. If I have to have a Republican, rather Flippy Mitt than someone who wants to control what goes on in my bedroom, my religious beliefs, or whether my health insurance covers something that is medically necessary.
@Neighbor of the beast:
Reagan's financial policies are what led to the gigantic gap in this country between the uber-wealthy and the vanishing middle class.
Clinton tried to increase SS trust fund with the surplus, but the republican congress would have no part in it.
And it wasn't Reagan's military spending that bankrupted the Soviet Union, it was every president since Truman that contributed to a cumulative meltdown. Reagan didn't defeat them, their system was unsustainable and it finally just collapsed. Reagan was just the guy in the White House when it happened. And, boy, did he claim the credit.
Feisty: well, let's look on the positive side - Romney has instituted the two most significant GOP job initiatives in recent history:
1) He singlehandedly has reinvigorated the market for Ohio Art Company products
2) With this latest gaffe, he's prolonged the GOP clown show and thereby improved the fortunes of the Jolly Time Popcorn Company.
Beast? Biggest economic boom since wwII? Did you sleep through the Reagan terms. The economy was in the crapper about 6 of those 8 years and Daddy Bush lost because of the anemic economy. The only thing that kept us afloat during those years was massive military spending done on the red side of the ledger. Don't like history? Rewrite it. The Republican mantra.
Well, it all started with some guy calling the president a "boy"...
I really couldn't tell with all the haze...
I think something happened...
"Sailcat"! I haven't heard that word in years. You just made my day.
Maybe Santorum should be not only the nominee, but the US President. Just so everyone here can get completely f**CKED OVER. I am almost rooting for that at this point. Just because of the douchebags from the left or the right that I see spewing every day.
I mean, not one piece of actually mattering financial legislation has been accomplished by either Dimocraps or Repukes since the 2008 Atomic Financial Meltdown caused by banks that had no interest in actually knowing who they lent money to. Yet both Dimpcraps and Repukes gave away our money to save those banks.
Etch a Sketch? Yeah, that's the problem. The problem completely isn't that your political parties in America are filled with puss faced a-holes.
@Feisty: you used to bring thoughtful, knowledgable comments to the postings and you got a lot of postive votes. Has it gone to your head? These rude, coarse, personal attacks are very unattractive - and benefit no one.
jrae-1215199
I was going to comment on the "boy" comment until I read Feisty's post. She called it as it is.
A comment said like that where I live will get you a bloody nose.
The rest of her posts weren't vicious at all.
If people can't understand that referring to a black man as a 'boy' isn't invoking a term with a historical racist overtone, then its already lost.
The clue is if you are trying to explain how 'boy' as a term for a black man 'isn't racist and someone is racist for assuming it is,' is, in actuality, simply being racist and coming up with a piss poor excuse.
It isn't ignorance at that point, it is actually racism, because there is no desire to understand what it means. FYI, lynch mob jokes, also not funny.
NeighborOfTheBeast

Historically the southern democrats did all that, but you are leaving out important history. In the early 60's after civil rights was forced through congress, the southern democrats left the Democratic Party. Guess where they went? They took their racist attitudes to the GOP. Is it any wonder the GOP is acting like the southern democrats of the 1860?
I see Jrae, when a liberal calls out a bigot it is a personal attack. Get used to more if all you have are adhomonim attacks.
At ths point, it reallly doesn't matter what Mitt says . . . he's a liar - plain and simple.
Yes, RW. We're still dealing with the damage Reagan caused to this day.
"'Sailcat'! I haven't heard that word in years. You just made my day."
I get a kick out the reaction of people who recognize it! Thanks!
I admit to being intolerant of bigotry, racism, xenophobia, authoritarianism, and abuse of the poor and downtrodden.
It's a personal failing, I know.
It must be feet are on the menu on the republican camps this year.
Lets not forget about "all 54 states" that we have according to the present idiot in charge. Now theres a "gaffe"
Jim, It was 57. If you're going crucify him for a simple meaningless verbal brain fart, at least get the number right.
Aww, Jim! Can't even get your criticism right.
Jim
How does the foot taste?
Be easy on Jim. 54 came out mistakenly when he thought of 47 "mainland" states, added the 10 new Texan states, and then tried to subtract the 3 island states of Hawaii, Alaska, and New Jersey... he had it roughly right though.
LMarcT,starbuck49,tonybeeerm, Didn't your parents teach you that two wrongs don't make a right?
He was including Puerto Rico etc... You know the US Provinces. Your comment is a much clearer display of your own ignorance than it is Obama's Jim. You folks always talk about candidates you can have a beer with but what you really mean is candidates that will keep the kool aid coming. Bottoms up tardski...
Maybe Jim is fixated on 54 because that happens to be his IQ?
Well, this primary campaign season is just silly now. An Etch-A-Sketch?
If the Republican primaries was a game show, which one would it be?
Queen for a Day

Anyone remember the old Applause-O-Meter used for talent shows? Maybe they will try that next.
This little tempest in a TEApot maybe good for a laugh but seriously ...
Aaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!! They finally have gotten to me - I am going 'rogue'.
Posted this on the wrong thread. Sorry 'bout that.
57 to be correct. So what else you got Jenius Jim?
hands down Truth or Consequences followed by the Price is Right but in November we will be asking What's my Line. LOL. This is so delicious I can eat up all day long.
I'm Shocked! Shocked, I say, to find out that there is truth-telling going on amidst this primary election season. You're winnings (delegates) sir! Round up the usual suspects.
Definition of gaffe: the act of being caught unintentionally telling the truth.
fenderbluesjr
My parents taught me when someone criticizes someone, expect to get it back 10 fold. Then he can't even get the criticism right.
Yeah, and so did Dubya. Been there. Done that. What lies didn't start an unfunded war resulting in nation building, tanked the economy, socialized the losses and corporations, killed Capitalism, millions of jobs lost, stagnated the wages and lowered the standard of living, and sent the debt skyrocketing! The 99%ers have had all the "conservative Republican" leadership we can afford to take.
Good lord people get worked up easily nowadays. America in general needs to drink a tall glass of chill the **** out.
Somebody better explain what etch a sketch is to Obama, he is still stuck with building blocks. If he can't , work with Israel and the European nations immediately about Iran, you wouldn't have to worry about the election, you wouldn't have enough gas to get to the polling stations.
With Obummer giving away the American economy signing free trade deals with the rest of the world, those who can work will be working at the prevailing free market hourly rate about $5.00 an hour.
Oh yes, don't talk to Obama about that new fuel HYDROGEN FUEL that would make the U.S. energy independent. He just cut research into it 90%, after he gave the Finnish Electric car company $529,000,000 to build cars in Finland to compete with G.M. Ask JOE BLOW BIDEN how they snookered him on that deal. They were supposed to use that Delaware car factory? What happened Obama, you didn't read the fine print?
Romney should turn over the Presidential Campaign to Ron Paul.
Paul would make a great President. He makes sense---the only wise one on the block of 4 candidates.
Seems to me "Chutes and Ladders" would best describe the Republican primary...
54 instead of 57... who gives a crap. 57 instead of 50 as president of the USA... pretty embarrassing gaffe.
For people (and posters) who claim that two wrongs don't make a right. Uh, you guys have never played (or studied) politics. Heck, even in science your theory is butkis. Remember that two negatives always equal a positive, but only when they're propagating (i.e. multiplying). There's nothing more multiplicative than politics. Similarly, the intelligent voters, having been proven capable of being swayed by a negative ad, can only be swayed back by another negative ad. This theory has been proven over thousands of test cases, including cases where a positive campaign tried to right a negative campaign. The voters have always proved that it takes two wrongs to make a right. Simple math for a simple electorate!
Romney is a liar. He is not a good liar at that. How can he be trusted with the launch codes that could end life as we know it. Those conservatives who want O'bama out at any cost may find themselves dealing with the Devil, if they are not careful.
Here you go.
Snopes on the "fifty . . . seven" states issue just so you can see and know the real deal instead of just the spin.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/57states.asp
Should we put this thing to rest? Hell no! This is an important issue! Why should Obama be expected to know that there are fifty states? Look at where he was born.
Joe. I was where O'bama was born, the state of Hawaii, in 1969. There are territories that are participating to a limited extent in this election. Referring to them as states may be O'bama's only gaff this cycle. Romney has had at least one in every speech this election cycle.
Well we know for sure what to expect from four more years of Obama and the Democrats. Trillion plus dollar annual deficits and a national debt that will topple 20 trillion during his second term. No solutions to fix Medicare or Social Security. Soaring gas prices will lead the way to massive inflation.
The Obama presidency can be summed up as spend baby spend, borrow baby borrow, tax baby tax, print baby print, and blame baby blame. Obama and the Democrats cannot hide from a first term that has been a total disaster for this country. But if you feel that we are on the right course, then by all means Obama and the Democrats are your party.
Well the guy is just telling it like it is...
Time to face facts!
Hey Rick-3416939, I'm all in.
I'll bet the whole pot on Obama vs what is coming out of the GOP any day. We'll see what is what in 2016. How many fallacies are you gonna make up then? His whole first term has been nothing but damage control from GW. I'm looking forward to this term.
This has become the best darn reality TV on right now.
Glad there will only be one season of
DESPERATE CANDIDATES '12
I"m hoping the GOP will all be playing "Sorry" on November 7.
tjohn_missouri and Wade, Tampa Florida, thank you for proving that there is intelligent life south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
As for you, Joe D. Glenn, that's the most ludicrous explanation of all. Enjoy your Tea.
"Its time to ditch Santorum, this guy is such a Phony he makes my stomach turn" That Organ in Ricketys head is looking more like a Aspirin"
I'm not a Romney fan but come on there Ricky the fact that you are calling yourself "Conservative" after your dreadful voting record shows you already "shook the Etch-a-sketch" yourself!
So what Super PAC paid for the Etch a Sketch?
You do realize that "free trade" doesn't mean that we are giving away our goods for free, don't you?
It only means that both countries are reducing bureaucracy and tariffs in order to make trade easier. You know, like the smaller government that y'all seem to be so in love with. That's what President Obama gave you by signing these agreements.
Isn't it refreshing, that Pres.(wannabe) Ro-money's campaign is letting the truth be known about his administration before the election. Conservative heads are exploding! And the funniest part is, they are stuck with this douche bag! ROTFLMAO!!!!!! Pres. (wannabe) Ro-money will be forever known as Mr. Etch a Sketch! Never as Mr. President. OBAMA "Four more Years" 2012!
The cat is out of the bag. Romney plans to say what is necessary (lie) to get the nomination and then become another Bush or McCain.
You just figured that out? <sarcasm :-)>
Hey, saying one thing during the campaign and then doing another once elected worked well enough for Snyder, Walker and the rest of that pack of idiot GOP governors Americans were duped into electing in 2010. Here's hoping at least a few independents and moderate Republicans (if there's any such thing left) remember that.
Translation:
The cat is out of the bag. [Putative Nominee] plans to say what is necessary (lie) to get the nomination and then become another [Villified Enemy] or [Weak Candidate].
FYI, the Dems are just as willing to sell their mother's souls as the Rs are.
Unlike Obama who lies constantly.
I appreciate consistency, but I don't want someone who is so entrenched in his own opinions that he won't even consider another point of view.
That being said, I also don't want another "I voted for it before I voted against it" Kerry, or "We have to vote on the bill to find out what's IN the bill" Pelosi. Wasn't it Princess Nancy who complained that the ObamaCare bill was too long for her to be expected to read it?
@DW: Walker told the people of Wisconsin EXACTLY what he would do if elected. They elected him in a LANDSLIDE. Now, he is doing EXACTLY what he said he would, much to the chagrin of the union thugs and Democrat-backed entitlement whiners. Wisconsin's budget is on its way back to fiscal sanity, and he did it without having to fire large numbers of public-sector employees.
It's the inside-the-beltway established Republicrats that are keeping the newest crop of Congressmen and women from enacting the policies their constituents elected them to do. You can try to spin it any way you want to, but the 2010 club was just the tip of the iceberg.
Here is a thought - pull your head out of your ASS & open your eyes...
You would be amazed and what you will be able to see! ;o)
The real Walker is starting to come out with the convictions of his very close friends!!!! Jail is next for him, or pay his way out with the Coke brothers
Awwww....it's so cute! My feisty little red-headed rosebud just can't handle the truth, so she resorts to name calling as a debate tactic.
BTW, my eyes have been clear ever since I saw how little substance liberal arguments have in them...kinda like your Chardonnay-fueled ravings.
There's no room in my rectum for my head. The Dems aren't content with taking everything I earn in order to pay off their lack-witted flunkies, so they've decided to give me a financial colonoscopy looking to see what else they can take from me.
Obama kept his campaign promise of the "redistribution of wealth", it just wasn't quite what I expected, and he had a lot of help from both sides of the isle, so he can't take all the credit.
According to the Republicans Conservative = Good, Liberal = Bad, and Moderate is just some sort of bastard half-breed. To me a Conservative = someone afraid of change, even if it's for the better, and Liberal = a label Conservatives use to dismiss everyone else.
I prefer to think of a moderate as someone who listens to both sides, and then chooses the best course. Too bad Moderate has become a dirty word to the Republican party. It really has become a problem for this country.
I don't think Obama has done a bang up job. I'm not sure anyone could after inheriting the mess that Bush left in his wake. All I know is I don't want to elect a person that is in Wall Street's pocket, and thinks going to war is a good idea without trying diplomacy first.
What in the heck do you know. You are as bad as it comes.
Well then, NOTB, it's good to see that the GOP's men are getting probed in much the same manner they'd like to have women seek an abortion experience.
Wow, what a zinger. Next, you will call me a Liberal for calling as I see it. Pretty much as I expected.
DW.
I'm confused. So you're saying they're getting probed with an aspirin bottle in their orifice?
Wow, IS this all there is going to be between now and November. One side attacking the other and the the folks that want both sides to pull their head outta their asses a work together can get attacked by both dems. and repubs. I have actually seen more intelligent posting from grade schoolers on facebook then I do on this site.
And who is this ridiculous vapid feisty red head that thinks the post put out under that name are worth the space they take away form other commenters with something worth while to say. You are the Queen of mean, disgusting, useless posts by your own admission. Whoopee dee do, unimpressed. Doubt Bob ran from you. Probably finally got bored with the 3rd grade tit for tat going on between you. Good night, rather sleep than read this crap anymore.
GOP men in power have awakened a sleeping giantess skrewdworld. You insult Fiesty Redhead at your own peril. I don't have to defend her. She is more than capable of cutting you to shreds with her own words. The GOP in power have for the most part backed down, this year, when confronted with angry women. I suggest you do the same. Women vote, and women do not forget when someone wants toss them under the bus.
Wade, I'm not asking Feisty for her vote so what she thinks of me is inconsequential. Feisty has NEVER on Newsvine offered one single intelligent comment or thought. All she knows how to do is attack people. Her comments add nothing to a discussion by rational adults and I would estimate that 80% to 85% of her comments are eventually collapsed.
While his advisor's comment was certainly clumsy and ill-"advised", it was one of the more honest comments I've heard in a while. Of course you do a restart when you move from the primary election to the general election. What gets your party's nomination will not get you elected in the general. Obama would be doing exactly the same thing if he actually had to run for the nomination. He would now be pandering to the progressive radicals in the democratic party and then would move back to the center for the general election. Nothing new here folks, other than someone admitting what we should already know anyway, so just move along.
She is not afraid to attack GOP stupidity, for that matter neither am I. If by telling the truth about the TEA Party she has not made any supportive intelligent remarks, than you are correct. It's impossible to say anything supportive about a party that is willing to drag the country over a cliff to break O'bama and the democratic party.
All she does is call people names and that adds nothing to the discussion. BTW its also impossible to say anything supportive about a party that believes that racking up trillion dollar deficits year after year after year will eventually lead to a balanced budget and prosperity.
If collective bargaining was such an important issue why hasn't Obama given it back to the federal workforce? The fact is that collectively bargaining in the public sector has been a disaster for towns, cities, and states that are on the hook for massive amounts that will bankrupt many. People with no vested interest in the money they are handing out should not be allowed to do so. The unions saw the public sector as a cash cow, and they were right.
Walker will keep his job, as the people of Wisconsin see his policies are working. Plus all those protesters that the Democrats and the unions bused in from other states, don't get to vote.
This is so friggin pathetic. If Romney ran on the "Santorum" platform he wouldn't win but maybe three states. Santorum is a theocrat, and a guy who is interested in personal matters. If anyone in the republican party thinks that this will sell with the independents in this country, like I am, is insane. Santorum is just another idiot who's ideas are last century, and of course the beloved MSNBC can't get enough of something that Romney NEVER EVEN SAID!
JCB what is killing Romney's chances with the independents, and women, day by day, are his own speeches on video tape, the behavior of TEA party controlled house of representatives, and speeches made by Romney while he was governor, and the 2008 election. Romney doesn't need Msnbc, his mouth is his own worst enemy.
"Stop the Santorum disease from spreading"
Am I scared during this election cycle, yes, I am. I see fear and desperation driving the GOP. What I am is not desperate. This would be hilarious if I weren't so scared.
Be careful what you wish for Wade, this President has a ton of video on him also. Wait till they the republicans put them together, you think Romney is a flip flopper, Barack is right with him, big time. Oh soon how we forget. And I truly think your missing the overwhelming hatred of this President, whether right or not, it definitely exists.
Wade, I know how you feel. It's a daunting journey, but we can take heart in the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt:
America is still the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
President Obama said this:
No matter what happens, we can never let hope die. We are never defeated as long as we can dream.
Don't let them take that away from you.
ROadwarrior,
Yes just like Obama lied about "change" and continued Bush policies.
I am encouraged by the desperation I see KayBeeToys. Fear, as long, as it does not paralyze a person to inaction, can be a positive force for good. Fear and desperation lead to mistakes in an opponent that would increase the chances for their defeat. That the GOP in power is desperate means that they fear the outcome of the general election. I will not feel secure until all the votes are counted and the GOP is driven from majority control of the house and senate, and O'bama wins his second term.
JCB, the GOP had a chance to work with O'bama. Instead it followed Rush Limbaugh's call to make O'bama fail. Mc'connell wants O'bama to be a one term president. Had the GOP kept it's word when it took Control of house, they might have been able to do that, Instead they launch a "war" on every one but the top 1 percent. They attack women's rights to control their own bodies. They make my being a college student 100 times harder then it needs to be. I do know the odds favor the democrats this fall. I have to work with the assumption the GOP will cut it's throat politically by the general election.
Ouch!!! The truth hurts doesn't it?
Poor Willard!!!
He gets himself a BIG win in Illinois one day and then...BLAMMO!!!!
I DO feel bad for him. Hadn't really thought about it. He had 5 different articles on MSNBC all proclaiming that his time has come...
and you're right... just ONE DAY later, his campaign implodes.
The sad irony here is that in truth, none of the true conservatives, tea baggers, or GOP base believe themselves that Romney can win on a campaign that they would approve of. So I guess they're left with trying to decide who Romney is lying to more, to them, or to middle America. Either way, I guess they will feel they've lost. So I guess they prefer that he lose to them, before they lose to America.
Don't think it will end the Romney campaign . . . but you never know because one things conservatives hate is fake.
"Santorum's next job will be Porn, Put Ricky's madness to work"
Love your new avatar, Da Noid!
The problem with this Election is that there are so many 'single-issue' voters. The General Election should be a landslide...a cake walk for Obama...not even close, regardless who his opponent turns out to be. If it isn't blaming Obama for higher gas prices (which he has absolutley no control over), it's the 'he's a Muslim" route or he's not Christian..see. they have nothing, but unfortunately, they have many who drink the koolade and listen to the lies on FOX 24/7. In my lifetime (over 64 years), I've never seen more hypocrites than this season's right-wingers. Pathetic, simply pathetic!
Nuf said :-)
You forgot about ObamaCare, Patriot Act, Gitmo, $16 trillion debt, 8.3% unemployment and Obama saying we will be in Afghanistan for at least through 2013. I would say that is a little more than "nothing". And yes, gas prices will be front and center.
Say what you like Road Warrior, but Republicans have already burned the American People bad, and, under the Ryan Plan that all Republicans have signed on to, Republicans will rip us off right down to our Social Security and Medicare. Face it, we just don't like them and we just don't want the GOP back.
I WOULD rather pay higher gas prices than to elect a Republican who has let us know, AHEAD OF TIME, that their plan is to steal our Social Security and our Medicare that we worked for AND paid for all our working lives, and all in advance.
No thanks Republicans!
Obama / Biden 2012
Road Warrior,
Every one of your issues are "opinion" issues that, when the whole story is told, will reverse on you (the GOP) in a hot minute... especially the Obama/Romney care, the "Bush Debt Train", the collapsed economy and 10-11% unemployment it was bringing, Afghanistan (didn't we get Bin Laden?), and gas prices... gas prices that will skyrocket in the mid-west the second a drop of oil goes through that pipeline...
I guess there's really no "special" issue, they ALL reverse pretty quickly.
Try again?
And lest we forget- -President Obama isn't the one who got us into the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, nor Gitmo, nor the Patriot Act , nor the $16 Trillion debt or even the 8.3% unemployment. He inherited those things from Bush and the Republicans. If we want to stay in Afghanistan past 2013, keep the Patriot Act, Gitmo, and high unemployment, just vote in more Republicans. That'll work very well.
Opinions are what guide most people's votes. When they see the pump meter go over the century mark every week, their opinion will be something has to change. Add that to their 20-somethings wanting to live in their basement because new grads have no job offers and Iran, you will see the biggest landslide since Jimmy Carter who had the same issues working against him.
Don't forget Carter was 34% ahead of Reagan in February.
Road Warrior-
The Patriot Act was W's baby. You handily forget more then $8 billion has come from all the wars that were never paid for since 2001, and has just come on the books suspiciously without reminding everyone where it popped up from.As far as Afghanistan, Originally W. had the date at 2014 so President Obama"The Commander in Chief" deemed our soldiers could come home to their families one year early. Cry me a river, you must want every soldier to either die in battle or want their children seeing their parent once every year or so.
At least you have enough sense to know President Obama nor ANY President can not and never will control oil and gas prices...if they do, then that is manipulating commodities and is a very serious Federal Trade crime.
lilrkt,
Didn't Obama promised to change all that. Let the Patriot Act expire when it came up for renewal, close Gitmo in 2009, cut the deficit in half in four years, bring the troops home in 18 months, shovel-ready jobs to keep unemployment under 8% if he got the Recovery Act on his desk, roll back the Bush tax cuts for the rich. Well, he had four years to do it and even had both houses of Congress for his first two years. No change is why the independents have changed their minds about Obama.
Hey Kids let us talk about thre Romnut and taxes
1."Mr. Flip Flop Romnut, explain to everybody how placing your money into shelters overseas so you can get away with paying less then 14 percent in annual taxes is helping Americans?"
2."Mr. Flip Flop Romnut, do you send the bulk of your money overseas because you value the trade of other countries over America's, or did you send your money over there so you didn't have to pay as much in taxes as everybody else does?"
3."Mr. Flip Flop Romnut, you like to say that you pay what you owe in taxes and not a dollar more. What if the vast majority of America thinks you should pay a lot more? Do you agree with the majority of American people and pay more taxes or tell them you don't care and don't want their votes anyways?"
4. "Mr. Flip Flop Romnut, do you think all Americans should pay less then 14 percent of their annual incomes to taxes, like you do, even though that would plunge this great nation into third-world status almost immediately?
5. "Mr. Flip Flop Romnut only the rich could take advantage of loopholes you have used to insure you pay less in taxes then almost all Americans who pay taxes. Should that be how America's tax code works? Should rich people, like yourself, pay smaller percent of your income to taxes when people like our military, cops, social workers, firefighters have to pay a great deal more?
6. And let's talk about FLIP FLOPS CHINA investmets in surviellance cameras
this MORMAN MAN IS A traitor to the USA!
E X C U S E ME: but what example that you have provided re: ROmney has changed Y O U R life or mine for that matter?
FOCUS on the $16 TRILLION: we are the greatest debtor nation: SOLD to the world...
What happens when you don't own the nation you sit on...complaining...
For once I see a sensible and factual anti-Obama comment. However I would still rather vote for Obama than for any of the current GOP candidates. I am not really concerned about them taking a U-turn on their proposed policies - quite the contrary, I would be scared sh!tless if they got elected and implemented them.
At least Obama is not planning to dramatically drop top income tax rates, or to invade Iran in the foreseeable future, or to impeach the Supreme Court justices that disagree with his views, or impose an Arizona-style federal immigration law, or fundamentally change Medicare, or further de-regulate the financial sector, or leave environmental protection to private sector self-regulation (I could go on).
Democrats may not be a delight, but they are certainly better than that.
CoonAndFriends, I agree 100%. Certainly Obama is not perfect but he is head and shoulders above the idiots running on the Republican ticket. With a Republican blockade of congress for the last three years it's any wonder he has gotten anything done. He has to compromise with the Republican radicals that only has the wealthy 1% in mind. They don't care if the economy collapses as long as the wealthy can keep their millions in tax savings then steal the rest of the tax money as subsidies for their big business friends while eliminating Social Security for the elderly.
The Republicans spent the SS money and now don't want to pay it back so their plan is to bankrupt it. A huge amount of the present federal budget is paying interest on deficit created by the past administrations and without the tax rates being restored to the pre 2001 rates it's not going to get better so the teabaggers are all in to defeat Obama so they can maintain the Bush tax cuts and even lower them more.
The teabaggers in general and Grover Norquist in particular don't care if the country defaults as long as they have their billions in gold. I don't think they will stop until the American labor is forced to work for peanuts while living in mud huts like third world countries.
Please all you have to do is take an unbiased look at everything both sides are saying to each other and the way these alleged adults speak to each other to know with certainty it is the equal fault of both parties and asshats like you people that have all the time in the world to fight like 3rd graders on the internet thatAmerican is swirling the drain. NIce work!!deleted.
I get so tired of people calling the AFFORDABLE CARE ACT, Obamacare. I almost broke the COH in the post I deleted myself. If the news vine wants to crack down on me for shouting so be it. At least I am not attacking anyone in this post.
You cannot make this stuff up. This is going to be FUN.
I agree. Let's make this FUN, Exciting, energized, and a complete blow-out. The facts are with us and the lies, the flipping, and the extremes are with them.
Road Warrior, I hate to say it but opinions are not what guides peoples votes. Opinions are like a$$holes everyboby has one,but some people have two. They talk out of one.
My nomination for Least Valuable Post on this thread goes to... Rich 711!
"Road Warrior, I hate to say it but opinions are not what guides peoples votes. Opinions are like a$$holes everyboby has one,but some people have two. They talk out of one"
You're a shoe-in, buddy! Nice job.
I think his campaign advisor was telling the absolute truth. This pleases me, because he is going to be the nominee. I don't believe he can beat President Obama, but if he were to do so, the left-leaning Romney will emerge. This is truly funny. The far-right wingnuts are going to have Mr. Romney as their nominee. And he won't be able to use the AHC as some sort of weapon against the President.
Every day - every day one of these nincompoops makes a "gaffe" of some sort. Of course, it's not a gaffe; it's what they really think. Show up to vote Democrats. Don't let this be like 2010 when people like even myself let that slip away - didn't even vote. Bring two or three photo IDs - hell, bring your birth certificate. If the repubs can prevent you from voting, they will. They have changed so many districts and appointed so many far-righters to places of importance in the local polls, check to see that you are also going to the right place to vote. Remember!!
Baby Boomer48,
after all of Romney's lies I do not trust him Had he stood up to the TEA Party, and ran as an independent republican I might have voted for him in the 2008 general election. Instead he lies saying what audience wants to hear at the moment. I respect what he did as Governor, I do not respect Romney as candidate for president, he lacks the courage to take a stand, and fight for what he believes. As much as I hate to agree with Santorum, and Gingrich about anything, they are right about in this instance. This agreement is by no means a sign of support for them. Even a stopped clock has the correct time twice a day.
Funny how sometimes the truth slips out from Romney and his campaign. A couple of weeks ago he admitted that the "economy has improved." Now this. LMFAO!
Would you rather they lie?? I find the honesty kind of refreshing compared to what we've had for the past three years and perhaps more.
I'm not so sure Romney is honest - he says whatever he needs to say for the moment, the situation, the audience he is speaking to or to get their votes. I'd call that pandering.
I'd call that Etch-a-Sketch!
The Etch-a Sketch GOPee Nominee I LIKE IT LMAO!
Romney's campaign guy stated the obvious - Oops! All candidates do this and it shouldn't be a surprise. I find it funny that Gingrich and Santorum have so little to run on that they use something like this. We all know that Romney is more moderate than them, but he is still a better candidate they they are. This is just another example of how weak they are as candidates.
Oooo, Romney is a Mormon, a very devout one at that. He gives tons of money to his church. A goody two shoes. Pretty scary if you are a liberal.
Road Warrior, why would that scare a liberal? Many liberals give big to their churches. They just don't go around boasting about it and using it as a club. Get real.
Susan: the problem with Romney and his campaign is that they have had many such "gaffes" throughout the last year and they haven't taken on Obama yet! For someone so sure of himself and considering himself so qualified to be POTUS, he sure acts like an idiot. Or maybe he is speaking honestly, which tells you what he really thinks of the voters...
Romney can't pretend his religion is going to help him outside Utah and Arizona.
Road- Interesting point. Reminds me of when Kennedy ran for Pres. The opposition tried to make an issue out of his being catholic, claiming he would take orders "from the Vatican". Santorum is a devout catholic, and very vocal about his religious leanings. Why isn't anyone worried about him taking orders from the Pope?
Catholicism is a religion, Mormonism is a cult. Both (and all organized religions/cults) are crutches for the weak. Neither should be front-and-center in American politics.
Richard-780604,
I guess some of our founding fathers must have been pretty weak then. I guess Abraham Lincoln was pretty weak too....Maybe you would like to say that face to face with some of the soldiers that fought in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, who call themselves Christians?
"Richard": Would you dare let your smallmindedness show if Romney were Muslim or, heaven forbid, a Jew? Would you so readily let your antisemitism slip then?
Nah, didn't think so.
I heard on national TV that Mitt Romney don't care about the poor, perhaps he should live a day in my shoes, and then mabey he would care. Perhaps he would change his perspective, Not!!! money has corrupted his perspective, he has no clue!!!
As a liberal I don't really mind his Mormon faith or what he does with his money provided that he pays his fair share of taxes. His ideas on foreign policy and the economy are what's "scary".
Idk about Richard, but I would say it to their face. Relying on religion to make decisions for you is weak minded. Hell, bringing up soldiers doesn't do much for your argument. They're soldiers because they only know how to take orders, not give them.
For the record, our founding fathers and Abraham Lincoln were the liberals of their day. A few were in fact openly atheist, which would have gotten them burned on the stake as a heretic in Europe at the time.
Thomas Paine, Age of Reason
Tell that to the GOP. They made a deal with the devil (evangelical wingnuts) and they will pay the price in November. Now they're openly lamenting that they let the Christian Taliban take control. Serves them right for their pandering and their hypocrisy.
Personally, a candidate's professed beliefs mean nothing. Pious baloney is cheap but it's not satisfying.
GOP nominee wannabees, show us your voting record and your position on the issues, and save the holier-than-thou B.S. for the revival tent crowd. Only your fellow religious phonies are fooled by that pap.
Alice Stewart is the pot calling the kettle black. Talk about gaffes!
Stewart is an idiot who does Santorum's struggling campaign no good. I thank her for that. :)
Hey, if they can colonize the moon and make contraception illegal and start new wars with no money and complain about the budget while turning in one for next year that's 4/5ths of a trillion in the red hey can do anything!!
No one can turn an etch-a-sketch upside down like Obama can.
So you think Obama would turn Romney upside down if facing one another in the general election? That sounds like etch-a-sketch abuse. Hey, maybe Republicans could impeach him for that.
TO: Jody-1593626 who wrote:
That's not what Mitt "The Jobs Cremator" Romney's camp is saying.
Romney is going to do a royal flip-flop once he get's the nomination that's gonna make Republicans' heads spin.
Romney knows that President Obama has the voters, and that's who I think Romney is going to go after, Democratic Principles and the Democratic Voters.
Romney is going to leave that 26% of Republicans Teabagging Coo Coos behind. He only needs them to get the nomination.
Obama / Biden 2012
Why? What do you mean? Do you have proof of that?
AmericanGirl, How is Mitt Romney going to sway President Obama's voters? You want to talk about an Etch-A-Sketch. That is exactly what our Union did. They were all in for Hillary(while Obama was vigorously campaigning in Il) up until, and not a second before she lost. Then the Union political " Etch-a-Sketck" shook and turned 360 degrees for Obama. If I was him I would have been insulted, being second choice. Afterall everyone knew he didnt need the Unions to get elected the media would do it for him.Obama was in it for the cash. On his way to the White House the president left his senate seat hanging. Sending our Governor to jail for trying to sell it,which is to say it wasn't worth anything to begin with. Obama has proven that he is the one that only needs you to get elected. You think otherwise you must love,"one night stands"!
Uh, fenderbluesjr... a "360 degree turn"? You must have been absent that day from Geometry class.
Come back when you can write a smear attack that holds water.
360 degrees is a complete circle fenderblues. You have not misspelled his name. That is a plus whether you like him or not.
Is anyone surprised? Romney's been on every side of any given position. He'll say whatever it takes to get a vote. How would he govern? Guess, that's as cose as it gets. I'm voting for President Obama no matter who these GOP zealots nominate.
Somebody is going to end up in the dog carrier on the roof of the bus on the next campaign trip.
I think it is time for Newt and Rick to exit the campaign without further damaging the GOP.
Funny, I was thinking the same about etch-a-sketch.
Jody, I disagree. I'd prefer that they stay and continue to damage the GOP all the way to the convention.
I've been hoping for a brokered convention so that somebody can nominate Sarah Palin (she said if that happens she won't say "No").
Now that's as much fun as I can think of.
Obama / Biden 2012
Damage the GOP, Jody? Santorum and Gingrich ARE the GOP and have been for some time. If you don't like it, then you should educate yourself and hold your people accountable. The GOP will take years to recover from Bush and the most damage they have done to themselves was to selectively forget that the Bush "administration" ever happened and try to blame everything on President Obama.
Get used to it. You have become the party of greed, liars and freaks.
Jody - The GOP appeals to 3 basic groups of people. Extreme Right Wing Evagelicals(Santorum), Undereducated Southerners who blame all of our problems on minorities (Gingrich) and the Greedy wall street elite that do not care about any one but themselves ( you got it, Romney). There is a small percentage of support from average Americans who some how have been confused into believing that they care about them. This is the group that I am concerned about. They are otherwise good people who vote Republican for various reasons but have obviously not taken the time to check facts and find out what is really going on right now. I urge all of you in this group to spend some time, do a little research and find out what the leadership of the GOP really stands for, it's probably not what you think it is. If it is what you think it is and you still support it, then God bless you, that's what America is all about.
Romney said the "issues will be the same." Romney didn't mention whether his positions on any of those issues would also be the same.
Etch-a-sketch
Why doesn't Romney admit he is not a Right Wing lunatic and that if the ultra right wing of his party does not like it too bad. Someone needs to let them know that a Right Wing, over the Cliff, conservative will NOT win a national election.
Tommy, Mitt has to pander to the GOP base. The ultra right wing is in the driver's seat.
If that makes him unelectable, so be it. Works for me!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
TO: Tommyticket who wrote:
Because the Teabaggers are the ones who come out for the Primaries.
Romney doesn't care WHAT he has to say, he doesn't give a darn about anything, which is exactly why he says whatever the crowd wants to hear, it makes him no difference at all.
That means his real character is missing, he's keeping it hidden, obviously because he's afraid if people know what he's got up his sleve, he'll never get elected.
Obama / Biden 2012
AG - you mean like the way Obama and the MSM hid his marxist ideology during the 2008 campaign?
since obama isn't a marxist, there was nothing to hide. lol. Except maybe you under your bed, hiding from the evil marxists/communists/socialists who are coming to steal your guns and make you worship the state. lol.
Larry: What's the MSM?
Obama's not a marxist. He does, however, exhibit strong tendencies toward statism, which principles usually sound great in theory, but human nature always seems to screw them up.
Larry's comments are generally always pointless, but he has been exhibiting a strong tendency toward delusional paranoia, lately. It's sad, really.
Larry has this idea that repeating his Marxist garbage in just about every post somehow makes him intelligent. He has nothing worthwhile to offer, no aswers, no solutions, no ideas so he spews out the same worthless comments over and over -- along with bragging about his imaginary life as an expert on most everything.
Let's hope all of these clowns keep shooting themselves and each other in the foot, all the way through and past their Tampa convention. Quite a pathetic bunch, all of them.
Obama/Clinton 2012!
Well at the least the Romney campaign picked a toy made in America for its latest gaffe. Inadvertently, he's actually helping sell those things. Wonder how long it will take before he claims that he's creating more jobs for the Etch-a-Sketch company too...
He'll send them a bill for consulting fees.
Made in America but engineered in France!
Actually, the Etch-a-Sketch items have been made in China for about 10 years now. No longer made in the USA............big surprise!
I read that in 2001 or so it moved to China.
Romney's career as a Republican may be over. Done. Fini.
I just read that etch-a-sketch the toy was created by a French guy. And etch-the-sketch the candidate did his Mormon mission where? Yep, France.
If there's one thing I know, no self-respecting Republican is going to vote for any Frenchie.
Lame.
Wow, I have to say this 6 month food fight the GOP candidates have engaged in has been quite entertaining.
Like the Keystone Kops, but with sound.
what would describe the 3 years of the obama "presidency" like?
PC- I'd call that "Progress".
well, suppressing al quada would be one way to describe it. Arresting the economic plummet that started when the housing bubble burst would be another. Restoring our relationships with allies would be another. i could go on. :)
He will run as a conservative, that is great, but if elected, what will he become?
Yeah, wondered that too.
I'm telling ya, Romney every once in a while lets a little honesty slip. Note he didn't say he was a conservative here. He said he'd run as a conservative (until he doesn't... etch-a-sketch).
It's like a role in a play to him.
A corporate raider seeking to maximize profits for the wealthy investor class - like himself. That totally explains his tax plan, which, of course, cuts taxes for himself and his 1% buddies. If that means loading the rest of the nation with debt to profit the 1%, so be it.
He made his millions that way - buying control of a company, charging exorbitant "management fees", cutting costs by eliminating jobs, leveraging the company deep into debt, then spinning it off to fend for itself, usually resulting in it's bankruptcy.
The Bush Jr. tax cuts nearly doubled the National Debt, I fear a Romney Presidency might just triple it.
Leave Romney alone. Who cares what He wears while He's running? Poor fellow is gonna be body slammed and thrown over a cliff anyway. "Larry the paranoid" will come closer to being President than Mittens.
Romney will become what he is if elected. A white Obama or another version of "W" except with the ability to form an entire sentence. No matter. No Ron Paul, no chance for America. We are all screwed my friends.
We'll become a fascist state. We'll hear Hail to the Chief Executive Officer upon Romney's entrances.
The best part of this entire debacle over Romney's Etch-A-Sketch gaffe is the response from Ohio Arts Company.
“We're looking for someone who writes what they believe in in stone and stands true to what they say."
Someone who will not change their mind no matter how much the evidence is against them. Someone who will fly in the face of reason and facts and say "NO! logic and facts do not sway my beliefs!" Someone like Rick Santorum!
Rick Santorum for PREZ 2012!!!!!1
A right wing bible nut can not win the job raised the debt 5 times stole money for his own state wake up hes a joke and a fake just like ron paul called him a fake take one for the team f--- santorum.
"Ron Paul was right"
Ron Paul has ALWAYS been right, but no one in this world will give him a chance !!!!!!!!!!! But of course it's because he is "from another planet" don't you know. We are all screwed my Friends.
The man is what in professional management circles is called a weasel. You may think you have a deal with him, but you will always always end up with the short end of the stick. He's lying now and he will lie when he gets the nomination. He will lie about his values and lie about Obama big big time. He doesn't care what we think about him. He is looking at the numbers and the only thing that matters is winning.
He will be throwing hundreds of million dollars worth of lies, innuendo and mud at Obama, and another hundred million dollars worth of lies promoting himself.
The election will be decided by 5-7% of voters. Those are the only people Mitt cares about right now. If lies, and repeated lies will get him 3 or 4%, then it will be lies, blown up lies, exaggerated lies, and repeated and repeated lies. What ever it takes. Hang on!
Yep, one in the same, get a good talker and people fall for it like with Obama party loyalists are destroying this country. There are a bunch of fools voting for this power hungry ogre and they will continue to be idiots. My gosh Romney has shown glimpses of his true colors yet fools still vote for him. My gosh I'll vote for Rosie over any of these peeps any day.
17 trillion in debt 47 million on food stamps 24 million out of work gas 4-6 dollars a gallon wake up
I think we are all awake here ( david willingham ). Bad thing is no matter if it's Romney or Obama in the W.H., we are screwed. Romney will say ANYTHING to get elected and Obama, well, we can see what he can do in three years time. Give him another 5 years and we might as well all put a gun in our mouths.
Bottom line is, in my worthless opinion because i too am apparently from "another planet", if we don't get Ron Paul in the W.H. ( and we won't ), it's all over for us. Might as well pick the spot to go to with that gun now.
