Jeb Bush endorses Romney for president

NBC's Chuck Todd talks to msnbc's Thomas Roberts about how Jeb Bush's endorsement of Mitt Romney could add to the push to end the GOP primary infighting.

Jeb Bush endorsed Mitt Romney for president on Wednesday, giving the former Massachusetts governor another important boost from the prominent political clan.

Bush, a figure whom many Republicans had urged to seek the presidency, called Romney this morning to inform him of his plan to endorse, according to a Romney campaign official.

The former Florida governor joins his father, former President George H.W. Bush, in endorsing Romney. Jeb Bush's brother, former President George W. Bush, has not made an endorsement in the race.

Jeb Bush said in a statement:

Congratulations to Governor Mitt Romney on his win last night and to all the candidates for a hard fought, thoughtful debate and primary season.  Primary elections have been held in thirty-four states, and now is the time for Republicans to unite behind Governor Romney and take our message of fiscal conservatism and job creation to all voters this fall.  I am endorsing Mitt Romney for our Party’s nomination.  We face huge challenges, and we need a leader who understands the economy, recognizes more government regulation is not the answer, believes in entrepreneurial capitalism and works to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed.

As Bush's statement indicates, his endorsement comes at a point in the primary where Republicans, following Romney's win in last night's Illinois primary by a wide margin, may begin to rally around Romney's candidacy. A popular figure within the GOP, Bush had been one of the few major Republicans yet to make an endorsement.

Wow, The America you live is not the one I live in. You need to stop getting your news from the Rush and Beck negative hours. I have hope in this country and confidence that OUR President will help the congress solve the problems you think has been caused by 1 person. I am sure you are aware that congress has been in a defeatest mode (of the president) since day one of his term. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Sean, wow you have information that the Democrats have been trying to defeat Obama since day 1? Have you provided this info to the media? I'm sure they would love to have this story.

Obama is his own worst enemy. And the Democrats did themselves a major

disservice when they did not properly vet him.

Obama Divided this country with the ugliest Divisive tactics, using the race card,

the class warfare card, the gender card, etc.

Obama administration is the most manipulative, and the party itself is not

indicative of the democratic party in general.

We have a Progressive party running this country and doing their best to

promote Big Government.

Yeah, did ourselves a huge disservice by voting for someone who stopped unemployment from skyrocketing, created jobs, killed the number one terrorist, kept GM afloat, and is again the largest automaker in the world and profitable to boot. now he is working on repairing the damage Bush did with the 2 illegal wars that cost about 5 trillion dollars. how horrible of us. your welcome.

Why would an endorsement from any of the "Bush" clan be a good thing?

Jeb was a decent governor. But I don't think most repugs would like him. He didn't always follow party lines. He just seemed to do what was best for everyone most of the time. Like the time his brother wanted to drill off the coast of Florida. Jeb told him no way in hell.

      #28.3 - Wed Mar 21, 2012 12:49 PM EDT

No, bush is trying to sleaze his way into the photo-ops, and stay active in national politics... and try to act important.

The FACT IS, jeb and his father have bveen documented is so many crimes, that if jeb were to actually try to run for high office, it is VERY LIKELY, both of them would end up in jail -- where they belong!

His father's scheme was to have georgie junior president, then, jeb boy become president, in this election cycle, with the goal to literally hand our nation over to the elite...

But, junior idiot so screwed up the entire planet, not only our country, that it torpedoed the bush-senior-kkkarl rover plan!!!

Romney today said, "for women get their own health insurance if they wanted it"

Not like it was in the 70's when women fought like Grizzly Bears defending women's rights.

There are more women today, . . . . yet it seems their attitude is, oh darn those guys.

What happened to the internal fortitude of today's women ?

I think that the whole contraceptives/health insurance thing would be immediately silenced if health insurance companies had rates lower for policies that included contraceptive coverages than those that did not.

The Republicans keep passing mandates in more states, and continue the war on women. We will be ready, why should we jump into the fray this early? I have already donated to PP, and the Obama campaign, and will volunteer with my local Democrats. Yep it's all about freedom, and those who impose on it, the GOP/baggers!

              Strong, independent-thinking women are Conservative.

(Weak-minded women have been brainwashed to think they need "gubermint" to take care of them).

Based upon information that I weed through I'll base my vote on that. I will pick my President based on his policies, his agenda's. Hidden and otherwise. I will not allow the liberal media to "yank my chain."

Because you say the GOP should give up because it's in "their best interests" sounds more like it would be in your best interests if the GOP gave up. Like you I will vote. However I will not vote for a community organizer that believes in the "Alinsky" method. Nor will I vote for a man who spends America's money like a teenage who has just won the lottery. So sugar, you bite me!!!!!!

Jeb Bush is very well-respected, especially for the work he's done with reforming education.

Romney appeals to many people because they're realizing he's very reasonable,

                hard-working, honest, problem-solver.

Romney's worked 25 years in the Real World, understands economics and Jobs better than Obama Ever will.

Romney was also a Governor too., so he has vast experience in both private sector and public sector. This is a big plus for America.

But maybe you're right, maybe the Bushes think Romney can win and that's the fastest way back in to the White House.

Being that Jeb Bush would be nearly the COMPLETE and TOTAL focus of that pair with constant questions about the last "Bush" Administration, I think Jeb is more likely to run for the top spot in 2016, probably, because they know they CAN'T beat Obama this time, and all the dirt Dubya did will be in further in the past by 2016, especially once President Obama gets the economy fully back-on-track.

Maybe Jeb decided to endorse so that in 2016 some Republicans will endorse Jeb.

It should also be noted that the Eastern portion of Ohio is trying to be conquered by Confederate froces as much of the natural gas and oil deposits that reside in the area reside along the same route taken by General Morgan a Confederate General that made raids into Ohio and Kentucky during the Civil War.

Most of the companies drilling in the Eastern portion of Ohio come from Texas which was part of the Old Confederacy and since the GOP has a heavy presence in Texas the money made by the Texas companies in Ohio in the Eastern portion of state will add to the coffers of the Old Confederacy in order to continue to create laws based upon the doctrine of the Old Confederacy which include slavery and that only white leadership is true leadership and all others are considered lesser before them.

There is going to be a reassurgance of Confederate supremacy along the Eastern portion of the state of Ohio as a historical teaching of Morgans Raid is getting ready to be given within the next few weeks which is meant to bolster the old Confederate spirit of trying to secure the Eastern portion of Ohio for Confederate use to build capital for the GOP's religious takeover of America.
