The pro-Santorum Super PAC -- Red, White, and Blue Fund -- is up with a new TV ad in Illinois that blasts Romney for supporting TARP and alleges that Romney's health-care law served as the "blueprint" for the 2010 federal health-care law.
The Red White and Blue Fund says the buy size is $310,000, although NBC's ad tracking partner notes that it so far has purchased a little less than that ($246,000).
Still, Team Santorum (campaign and Super PAC) is getting vastly outspent by Team Romney in Illinois, $3.3 million to $446,000 -- a 7-to-1 margin.
Here's a script for the ad:
ANNOUNCER: "Meet the real Mitt Romney.
Supported the Wall Street bailout putting America trillions in debt.
Raised job-killing taxes and fees by over 700 million, leaving Massachusetts over 1 billion in debt.
His healthcare takeover -was the blueprint for Obamacare.
Mitt Romney. More debt and taxes, less jobs. More of the same.
[FLASH - Transition]
Rick Santorum.
The leader with a bold plan for the middle class.
Create dynamic jobs and cut wasteful spending.
Rick Santorum for President.

Yeah right! Santorum is looking out for the middle class. Sort of like the fox looking out for the chickens.
.....or the lions looking out for the chipmunks?
Romney's pants pockets seem to have pretty large holes. He is dropping millions into individual states. I guess 2012 will be the test as to whether the rich can buy the Presidency of the United States. Obama might have spent millions in 2008, but at least that came from lots of people across the country instead of mainly being funded by the Super Rich. The Romney campaign is the equivalent of the Meg Whitman for Governor of California campaign on superPAC steroids. Those superPACs being the cash funnel of the Super Rich since they are limited to giving Romney $2,500 per individual or $5,000 per family. I can't even imagine donating a fifth of that amount to politics. Those totals get doubled if you consider both the primary and the general campaigns, so $5,000 for an individual and $10,000 per family.
It looks like the others they've run; maybe cut and paste. They must think black and white pictures with scarey music will do the trick. Rick Santorum is just like Mitt Romney; he's flip flopped as often, he was one of the GOPers doing all the unfunded spending, etc. The only difference between the two is Rick does a better job of convincing people he's really for the little guy. His voting record, however, shows otherwise.
this has got to be a record for spending the most money before a general election
America doesn't want either of these "CULT MEMBERS" ..I can't believe that Santorum or Romney are even being considered as a viable option !
Bob, in case you were wondering... there goes Santorum's chances at the VP spot...
Well, Bob McDonnell is the best choice anyway.
Doubt it will happen, but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. There is a long list of candidates who picked their bitter rivals as running mates...
Ah, but you're forgetting that tiny little detail, Ursula - Santorum can always claim that this was all his SuperPAC's idea and that he had absolutely, positively, no control whatsoever over it, right? :)
It was a good discussion anyway - I just think Romney's going to need a 'game changer' to stir things up. Santorum's going to be old news by the time the convention rolls around because we'll all have heard his socially conservative positions over and over. Maybe someone that's lying low right now can be effectively brought into the spotlight and breathe some freshness into his campaign.
Admit it, Bob. You want your backward leaning governor out of the statehouse. That's why you support him for VP.
VP will either be Marco Rubio or Susana Martinez.
bet early bet often
Invasive ultrasound guy, Gov Bob McDonnell blew his VP chances unless, of course, the GOP wants to double down on being anti-women or rather double down on stupid. Rubio blew it by co-sponsoring the Blunt-Rubio amendment, doubling down on anti-women's rights as well; also if the GOP thinks he will get the Latino vote, not so fast, he's been anti-immigrate, anti-DREAM act, etc.
Why would Santorum's ad have any bearing on his being chosen as a running mate?
These aren't children, you know. It's all business. H.W. Bush referred to Reagan's tax plan as voodoo economics. Running mates. Kennedy had no regard for Johnson at all - didn't even like being in the same room with the "uncouth slob." Running mates.
It will come down to whoever the nominee thinks helps him the most. Rubio isn't a bad bet. Neither is McDonnell.
Since Blunt Rubio Obama has lost support among women. Fact 1
Since Blunt Rubio Scott Brown (who supported it) has widened his lead over Liz Warren in MA. Fact 2
(Democrats in MA are already throwing Warren under the bus like they did with Coakley)
Rob,
Congress remains deeply unpopular with the American public, but Democrats continue to fare better than Republicans, according to the Post/ABC poll last week. The poll found a particularly wide gap among women, 39% approve of Democrats, compared to only 26% for Republicans.
Women favor the Democrats by a 3 to 2 margin – that could be a big problem come November.
I cited a specific citation the Post/ABC poll, where is yours?
CBS poll

12% drop for Obama among Women
This is a simple ad for simple people who need to be told what to do. Nothing here from Ricky except empty promises from a third party and lies and distortions about the president, and probably half truths about Romney
Simple ads for simple people... You mean ads that said "hope and change"?
Wow, they made Romney look more wrinkled than that old guy on the motorcycle in the Healthcare ads.
He has perhaps as many wrinkles as Ron Paul.
now that's truly funny! Nice one Amy.
Great line, Amy.
What amazes me is that Romney outspends his opponents anywhere from 5-1 or more and loses or wins narrow victories. What if the financial playing field were level?
Good one, Amy; you, too, Wayne.
You know i find it funny but when people complain Obama is spending too much money i look at how much the GOP is spending on just a primary
now i ask, Would you trust the GOP with our tax money?
Santorum's "bold plan" for the middle class would put every woman in the kitchen barefoot, pregnant, and homeschooling her seven children.
Oh, and don't forget the crucifix around her neck.
What's laughable is when the HCR law is in full force even Republicans will like it. Meanwhile, on the campaign trail Romney's and Obama's effort to reform the present joke of a system is trashed as a government takeover. You guys on the Republican side are looking more and more like fools everyday. Look in the mirror, you'll see what I mean.
Can't wait for the Super Pac ads against Hussein. This primary season can't be over soon enough for me.
GOP Super PAC will exploit President Obama's Muslim history hinting that he is running a madrassa in the White House basement training suicide bombers.
ya i can't wait either this stuff is as good as SNL
popcorn anyone
Careful Pike Lake, your hate is showing again.
Obahhhhhhma! Obahhhhhma! Obama/Biden 2012
Jody, your hate shows every day with almost every post. What is so hateful about wanting ads against the opposition? Do you think Hussein WON'T be running negative ads? He's already saying negative things. I say fight fire with fire. Can't wait.
LoyalT, I don't think the GOP will have to "expolit" ot "hint" at anything. Just show the plain truth about Hussein.
Pike
Should I put you in the "I believe" column for the madrassa in the WH basement?
I thought Madrassa was where my shirt was manufactured. I have a really cool vintage madras jacket, too. ;-) Oh, time for another cuba libre! ;-)
"Sanitarium Santorum" is in the room right next to "Nutty Newt" at the Mental Hospital. Both like to drink very strong "Spiked" Koolaid, and play Russian Roulette late into the evenings. The staff have made sure their pistol is made out of soap, and "Nutty Newt" tries to hang himself with the "Political" rope. The nurses do not know how many medications "Nutty Newt," and "Sanitarium Santorum" are crushing in the "Spiked Koolaid." It is very interesting to see "Nutty Newt" running around in his Confederate Army Uniform, and "Sanitarium Santorum" running around in his KKK outfit. Now things get really wierd in Art Class when both of them put on their clown paint. They starting yelling. "The South Will Rise Again!" Yes America! The "Mental Madness" of "Nutty Newt" and "Sanitarium Santorum" will roll on right off the cliff. Everyone wave as these two "Clowns" fly off the GOP/RNC Political Cliff.
Just goes to show you, that they are a product of their surroundings. Garbage in-garbage out... and they just can't understand why? oh why? why, why. why can't they see that I'm the way?... ha ha ha ha
