PALATINE, Ill. – Hours after finishing a disappointing second place in both the Alabama and Mississippi primaries, Newt Gingrich marched his campaign onward, vowing he is “staying in the race.”
Campaigning in Illinois on Wednesday, Gingrich made little mention of the two contests he had hoped to win in the South. He instead focused his speeches on the big ideas that drive his campaign, explaining that many people just don’t understand what needs to be done to help change the country.
“The thing I find most disheartening about this campaign is the difficulty of talking about positive ideas on a large scale because the news media can’t cover it and candidly, my opponents can’t comprehend it,” Gingrich told the five hundred plus person crowd at the Northwest Suburban Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. “The result is you can’t have a serious conversation. It doesn’t fit. It doesn’t count. It is as though it doesn’t occur.”
Gingrich, who brought up Alzheimer’s research for the first time in weeks, admitted he wants to be “the candidate of science and technology.”
“We are at the edge of such extraordinary opportunities and it is so hard to get this party to understand it,” said Gingrich, speaking in a more frustrated tone than usual. “Our political system is so methodically and deliberately stupid.”
The calls for Gingrich to exit the race have only increased in the 24 hours since Tuesday’s primaries that Rick Santorum won. But Gingrich says he will not bow out, arguing he is the only Republican who can take on Washington and all the problems that come along with it.
“We cannot be a normal party. If we run a normal campaign trying to govern within the framework of the current system we have no future because people would rather have Democrats do it, they at least enjoy it,” he said. “We are miserable at trying to govern in their system. We are in the business of changing Washington, not being accepted by it. It is a fundamentally different model. It is the base of what Reagan did.”

But could the jobless claims falling to 4 year low have anything to do with it. Sooooo many things that gingrinch has said, as well as santorum & romney, simply can not be true if jobless claims keeps falling. And the stock market keeps climbing. Impossible. Obamacare.
they will circle back to focusing on obamas healthcare plan. just give them time. Gingrich is too busy declaring the system he so desperately wants to be a part of as stupid, and Santorum and Romney are too busy trying to make each other look like the weaker far-right whackjob.

Actually, part of the deal when Newt was thrown out of Washington was that he couldn't run for office again. However, in the repubs desperate attempts to save Tom Delay, some rules were changed. Didn't help Delay, but now we have Newt back, running for President. Take a look at the ways the repubs have screwed themselves. With Citizens United, they kicked their own ass, they courted the whacked out TP and now they can't control their party and Sarah Palin is still out there flapping her ignorant mouth and haunting them, Christine O'Donnell is still out there flapping her trap as well, and Joe the plumber is running for congress (Saw him interview the other day, he's as clueless as Palin) Boehner can't even get his own crap passed in the house, and their very own rule changes got them back the very person they themselves sent packing. It's pathetic and asmusing at the same time.
Stay in Newt! Anything that takes votes from santorum is a good thing. Mitt could pass as a president, ricky would be a total disaster. Let the wacky-noodles split the 'conservative' vote and then Mitt will win the party. I think Obama will beat any of them, but you have to consider that the teabags and extreme right will vote republican even if bobo the chimp was the candidate. It won't matter the candidate, their blind hate for Obama would never allow them to vote for the 'best person'. They will always vote repub. Bet to have 'the least worse' candidate as the repub candidate. Romney is clearly 'the least worst'. Still pretty bad, but the least bad.
If Romney hadnt morphed into RightWingFundieMitt, he might actually be a decent candidate. His positions on quite a few things WERE tolerable until this presidential run, but that has since changed.
"Ganggrinch" means exactly what he says, he wants to change Washington. The only problem is that he did it once before and we now have the ugly partisan politics that resulted from his poison. Washington needs change but not by this evil wizard. We've seen his results.
Watch when Ole' Newt gets near the end of this Wet Dream of his! Watch how he'll BLOW-UP with every four letter word every obscenity known to man spewing forth towards everyone and anyone! The only question then will be will Faux News aka Hate-TV take him back with open arms???

Newt is going to work his way up to the final spot and he's going to bring in Sarah as his VP...watch what happens...Newt wants it bad and so does Faux noise...they want him bad. What they don't realize is "hate does not get rewared" they will lose...

Why him? They have Santorum. He is just as big of a far right nutjob, and he has a better personal record to those people. I also think that the vote totals prove my point.
The only thing Gingrich is going to do by staying in is drawing this contest out until September, which is fine by me. Every day they keep this charade up is another percentage point the GOP drops in popularity.
Santorium is not sprewing the "hate" they like so much, neither is Romney...Newt and Sarah will. It's gonna get more messy and more fun to watch...

Newt would have to win the nomination to choose a VP. He could bring Palin onboard, but Im betting it would hurt him overall.

Newt is only in the race because he has one rich casino owner (who backs Romney) financing his PAC just to split the conservative vote between Gingrich and Santorum to benefit Romney.

Newt Gingrich: "I will save you from the political corrupt system I created."
Mitt Romney: "I will save you from the financial system I created, after all I know the owners."
Rick Santorum: "I will save you from the belief system I created; God’s the answer, not that other stuff."
