@Mark - Good luck tonight against Clara's Tigers - did Caleb get his picks in, in time? ;o)

Happy Weekend Everyone!

I will see ya'll over at the Dew Drop Inn - I hear there serving up some cheesy grits in honor of the cheesy candidate!

As, always, gratitude to our gracious hosts/moderators; Mark & Domenico for having the patience of Saints for putting up with us! ;o)

The GOP candidates are rightly honored by their base for sticking to their principles, for they have all taken vows of ignorance. Thank-you GOP. We laugh at you, not with you.

What a week it was, too. Thanks again to our excellent FR hosts who continue to provide us with plenty to talk about and we oblige.

Have a Great Weekend "ya'll"! I don't know, somehow hearing Mitt Romney saying "ya'll" is weird. Other candidates do it but from him, it just doesn't work as well. Think I'll head over to the Dew Drop Inn for some of those cheesy grits.

Feisty--I heard that the Dew Drop Inn is featuring a breakfast buffet tonight in honor of Mitt---featuring grits, his 3 favorite cereals (can't pick one) and, of course, WAFFLES. For Newt there will be some pious baloney and for Santorum there will be fish (since it is Lent). I'll buy the first round of mimosas.

Thanks to Mark, Domenico and crew for keeping us up-to-date on these busy days.

SF - you have to wonder IF Willard can make a choice amongst his favorite cereals & be able to stick to it!

I can see it now, I'll have the Capt. Crunch, no...no...no... make that some Fruit Loops, wait... on second thought I want Count Chocula, no...no... can I get the Capt Crunch after all?

And these right wing nimrods want to hand him the 'football'... Good Grief!

I'll skip the grits but I think we need some Aretha Franklin on the jukebox! Let's start with "

"Respect" http://youtu.be/p8NbegkmSKU

"Think" http://youtu.be/hsL9UL9qbv8

"Chain of Fools" http://youtu.be/StScwYJiImQ

and maybe a little Marvin Gaye "Heard it through the Grapevine" http://youtu.be/jPnZZTVp_2A

IF I can make it to the 'pretend' bar with some 'pretend' friends on a 'pretend' Friday night, I'm going to put a dime on d-4, Loretta Lynn's 'You're Lookin' at Country' for my pal that likes cars, grits, and trees (that have achieved the correct height).

Cap'n Crunch with half-and-half for this old boy, please, Feisty. And say- when Santorum was giving his 'victory speech' Tuesday night, wasn't that the little guy from the Count Chocula box standing next to him, *yawning* like ol' 'Steve' used to on here???

Feisty, I know, old bobber for VP is anti-manners.

Steeler Fan, pious baloney goes great with cheesy grits.

DBO, did you happen to see Newt sleeping while waiting to speak at AIPAC via teleconference, then after he was announced he asked if the panel had any questions and the host, said Speaker, we don't have a panel, please continue.

Damn, I'm late to the party! Happy Friday everyone! What a week it has been.

If the words to these songs fit I would dedicate Only For You by Heartless Bastards for the heartless bastards, I'll Be Waiting by Michael Franti and the Spearheads to Bill, in case he wants to own up to his "mistake" and last but not least Kindness by Ryan Adams for those lacking kindness. Sadly, the words do not fit.

Instead I will put a quarter in for MoneyGrabber by Fitz and the Tantrums, to remind people what Romney is all about. ; )

Thanks to the terrific hosts for providing the substance for our discussions/arguments on the board. Keep on keeping on.

Cheers to all! Keep fighting the good fight.

You might be surprised at the results!

Mistress Feisty!

Bobber who fell off the VP short list, you're trying to compare the GOP's Voice, Rush Limbaugh's, 3-day hate fest against a private citizen with Bill Maher, the comedian. With every post such as yours, you give Rush Limbaugh a pass--that says a great deal about you. I don't excuse any person, left or right, when they make comments such as Limbaugh did. Too bad, your party doesn't have the courage to stand up to him. Not one GOP candidate did which means they talk tough about Iran but cower in fear of Rush Limbaugh.

Hi, Lisa S, enjoy.

The way Obama stood up to Bill Maher?

Come off it, Jody- decent people have ONE standard, that applies to all- left and right.

Vermont Girl asked me who set the standard- well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I set my own standards- and they apply to everyone.

I abhor bigotry- no matter if the bigot is a republican or a democrat. I abhor vile name calling- no matter who is doing it. I don't accept it from one party because that person is on my side of the aisle- while condemning it from a person on the other side.

To do so is to be a hypocrite. Obama is, therefore, a hypocrite- as are many on the left who engage in the same game playing.

On a lighter note- in the category of "A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words"-

Just look at all those happy faces! I've seen people being wheeled in to surgery look less grim!

Insane Sex Laws Inspired by Republicans

—By Hannah Levintova
Thu Mar. 8, 2012 3:00 AM PST

Delaware:

By an 8 to 4 vote, the Wilmington, Delaware, city council recognized the personhood of semen because "each 'egg person' and each 'sperm person' should be deemed equal in the eyes of the government."

Virginia:

As the state Senate debated requiring transvaginal ultrasounds for women seeking abortions, Sen. Janet Howell proposed mandating rectal exams and cardiac stress tests for men seeking erectile dysfunction meds. Her amendment failed by just two votes.

Georgia:

Responding to a Georgia house bill banning abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, Rep. Yasmin Neal wrote a bill outlawing most vasectomies because they leave "thousands of children…deprived of birth. "

Ohio:

A bill introduced by state Sen. Nina Turner would compel men to get psychological screenings before getting prescriptions for impotence meds. "We must advocate for the traditional family," Turner said , "and ensure that all men using PDE-5 inhibitors are healthy, stable, and educated about their options—including celibacy as a viable life choice."

Illinois:

State Rep. Kelly Cassidy proposed requiring men seeking Viagra to watch a video showing the treatment for persistent erections , an occasional side effect of the little blue pill. As she explained, "It's not a pretty procedure to watch."

Missouri:

Protesting the legislature's vote to reject Obama's contraception coverage mandate , nine female lawmakers cosponsored a bill restricting access to vasectomies except for men risking death or serious bodily harm. "In determining whether a vasectomy is necessary," the bill reads, "no regard shall be made to the desire of a man to father children, his economic situation, his age, the number of children he is currently responsible for, or any danger to his wife or partner in the event a child is conceived."

Oklahoma:

When a zygote-personhood bill came before the state Senate, Sen. Constance Johnson penned an amendment declaring that ejaculating anywhere outside a woman's vagina constitutes "an action against an unborn child." Bonus: Johnson also suggested that any man who impregnates a woman without her permission should pay a $25,000 fine, support the child until age 21, and get a vasectomy, "in the spirit of shared responsibility." In response to the same bill, state Sen. Jim Wilson proposed an amendment requiring the father of an unborn child to be financially responsible for its mother's health care, housing, transportation, and nourishment during pregnancy.

Texas:

Contesting a bill mandating sonograms before abortions, Rep. Harold Dutton unsuccessfully offered three amendments in a row. The first would have required the state to pay the college tuition of children born to women who decide against an abortion after seeing a required ultrasound image. The second would have subsidized the children's health care costs until age 18. When that failed, he lowered the age to 6. That didn't fly, either.

Tired Old Guy, leave it to Mother Jones. You've stumped me on this one but with effort we might use "Crazy, crazy for being in Ohio (or pick any of those states)".

Who would have thought that in 2012 we would once again be fighting for the right to vote for everyone with these crazy Voter ID laws, and women's reproductive rights especially contraception. It's like being in a time capsule travelling Back to the Future only we get stuck in the past.

Well. Feisty, about that time to wrap it up for the week, and what a week it was....

What oh what have we learned this week? No end of cowardice in the GOP. When the titular head of the party, Rush Limbaugh shot off his mouth on air, and disclosed how much hatred he has toward women, and how willing he is to lie about what one woman in particular said to Congress, what do we get from the GOP leadership?

Nothing.

The thing that is clear about this is why Rush has been married so many times. Money does not make it worthwhile to stay with a hater.

I have been much amused to see the excuse making from the usual right wing suspects who post on FR, none of them can step up to the plate and say without qualification that what Limbaugh did was wrong, and there is no excuse acceptable from anyone on EITHER side of the aisle when you use demeaning language about women. But, we learned long ago what to expect from this bunch, so no surprises there.

But, decent people responded in droves, and Rush is trying to recoup advertisers. No matter how he spins it, a program having dead air where commercials are supposed to be is not a good thing. Keep up the pressure, folks.

The good news is that the economy is improving, and in that we can all rejoice. We all gain when people are getting their jobs back. President Obama deserves credit for his steadfastness during this crisis.

Feisty, heading your way, bringing along some homemade pizza. Order me a red wine, won't you and keep the bar stool warm! Did we have any more candidates for silliest post of the week or should we award it to WCA?

Thanks to all who make First Read such an interesting place to visit!

A runner up: Kirk again, stuck to his guns that vasectomies are cosmetic surgery. I couldn't go another round with him, so thanks to all those that helped him find his way.

Another runner up was a mouthy (I'll refrain from the name) poster that admitted to committing voter fraud in the last 3 elections, complete with 'how to' instructions.

RedDev---what scares me about what is going on with the Republican intrusion into women's fundamental rights is that their stated purpose is "women's health" with a big *wink* to their base since we all know it is meant to make exercising the right to choose more expensive and onerous. It is the same thing they do with the voting registration.

If Americans living in the South see "Nutty Newt" riding around on his very confused GOP Elephant. Please let the State Patrol know, and they will make sure that "Nutty Newt" is sent back to his padded hospital room. He will be wearing his Confederate States Of America Officers Uniform, and "Nutty Newt" will be flying his Confederate Flag proudly. Now our fellow American Citizens living in the South may see "Sanitorium Santorum" running around in his KKK Uniform, and leading book burning parties. The rotten smell of tea will fill the air, and the bango playing will be continuous. The Southern GOP/RNC "Clown Show" is about to begin.

This just in- Romney won both Pacific contests. He won Guam unanimously, and won the Marianos by overwhelming majority.

Polls indicate he will win Mississippi, and he is tied in Alabama with Gingrich. No polls available on Kansas.

It might be interesting for people to note that Obama did not lock up the nomination until June, 2008. Likewise, Carter did not lock up the 1976 nomination until June of that year. Reagan had to wait until May of 1980 before locking up the nomination.

They all won.

Michael Dukakis, Bob Dole, John Kerry, John McCain? All locked up in March of their respective election years.

Just goes to show ya. . .

Well it might be Interesting, but not really. Sorry you cant do better than that trying to defend 'Meh' Romney. That waffler clown is toast come November.

But I know why No Jo and Rob and the other trolls are nervous. Obama is winning. And you can see it in the posts because their arguments are getting either more desperate or weaker. I remember this in 2008 when the McCain cause became hopeless also.

Limbaugh is their mouthpiece, the Koch brothers their financiers, and FOX as their propaganda mechanism and still they are losing. Go figure. They have lost the majority of the independent vote, the WOMEN'S VOTE and of course Hispanics.

The math is not good for the GOP. Without any ideas or solutions, their only hope is for Obama to fail, but we already knew that. Wafflehouse Willard is behind Obama by double digits in Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin and Virginia. So many paths to victory for Obama. You should have stuck with Huntsman (haha)
