Subscribe to RSSSTEUBENVILLE, OH -- Rick Santorum's campaign is calling on conservatives to pressure Newt Gingrich to abandon his bid for the White House, a senior adviser told reporters tonight.
Senior campaign strategist John Brabender said the key for the campaign going forward will be creating an opportunity to challenge Mitt Romney one-on-one, though Brabender maintained the Santorum campaign would not directly call on Gingrich to drop out of the race.

"We're never going to call on anybody to get out, but what we are calling is on Tea Party supporters and conservatives is to rally behind the only candidate that has demonstrated over and over again that he's the one who can compete against Mitt Romney," Brabender said.
"The real key right now is, can we get an opportunity to get a one-on-one shot with Mitt Romney," he said. "What we found is, Gingrich did a nice job in his home state, but I don't even think he had a second place anywhere else ... It's time for conservatives to say 'Look, we're going to rally behind one candidate, Rick Santorum."
Speaking to reporters in the high school gym where Santorum spoke just moments earlier, Brabender declared that no matter what the final result in Ohio, it already has been a bad night for Mitt Romney's campaign.
"All I know is after spending nearly $10 million here in Ohio, right now its neck and neck and it's going to be close to a tie, and somebody will win, but not by much. I don't know how they declare that anything but a disappointment," he said.

Folks, what is a liberal, someone that spents more than they take in correct. So the republicans are really the liberals. They start wars and rumors of wars and don't know how to pay for them. They give the rich tax cuts and don't know how they are going to pay for them. They run our banking system to the edge of distinction. Now today they want to end womens rights and the head of "Republicans Against Women" is Rick Santorium. A catholic whose religion has been abusing children and now wants to control all womens access to birth control. The catholic community believes in it's religion so much that 92% of catholic women use birth control which is against the religion today. Remember the rules change in catholics, they eat meat on Friday now. I say no to Rick Santorium. President Clinton had excesses that President Bush squandered and President Obama has had to clean up the mess left behind. Maybe just maybe Newt Gingrich, might know how to bring the good times and excesses back, but Rick Santorium can't. So if you want a solid choice for president it is either Mitt or Newt and by the way the little guy Ron Paul isn't stupid and makes sense, but not Rick Santorium.

I agree with you except on your definition of "liberal." A "liberal" is someone who has an open mind and the ability to think for him/herself. The Retardican Party has tried to make that as evil as having sex with the Devil. It is not in the interest of the extreme right wing for folks to be able to think for themselves. That is why FAUX Noise exists. They have known since the mid 70's that many but not most Americans cannot figure out the complexity of domestic and international issues, so they pump out the misinformation in a simplistic language of hatred that can be repeated ad nausea.
Unfortunately for them, most Americans still hold the social contract that makes America great in high esteem. Even with all the money being spent to spin reality to their hidden agenda for profit for the few, they will be stomped in November.
The irony and the hidden truth is that under Republican leadership, the federal government more than doubled in expenditures during the first 8 years of this century. Where did all the money go? Into the pockets of the weapons and oil industries run by Republicans. Much of the increase in national debt during the last 3 years is a direct result of the policies of those first 8 years.
Of course, one has to have an open mind to see these undeniable facts.

Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally liberals support ideas such as constitutionalism, liberal democracy, free and fair elections, human rights, capitalism and the free exercise of religion.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage Santorum to drop out of the race......if the Republican Party REALLY wants a run at kicking Obama out of the White House, Romney is the one to nominate....why do they insist on trying to commit political suicide with Santorum...I will not vote for Obama......but I sure won't vote for Santorum....That means they will be losing a lot of Independents like my self and Independents will decide this election! I will simply vote none of the above if Santorum and Obama are on the ballot.......

I can see he probably think Obama isn't Christian enough to qualify and believe Romney can turn the economy around. If Republicans were so lovely and caring why weren't the country had any surplus, booming economy or excess jobs when they were in power? The Republicans aren't there for the people, country or economy but to make wars, money and steal as many resources as possible. Just look at what they said.

Maybe Santorum should get out of Gingrich's way. Maybe Gingich should ask conservatives to get rid of Santorum. Maybe they should each get out of each other's way. Come to think of it, maybe they should all get out of each other's way.

I wonder if anyone who voted for Santorum read his policies on the budget and economy. He says he'll balance the budget AND give companies a tax cut of 17.5%. The problem is he doesn't explain how he would do that.
It sounds to me, when I listen to Gingrich, that he really doesn't expect to be President (though he would take it if it fell his way.) He runs down a litany of accomplishments that are not truly or solely his but he describes them as his personal accomplishments. Then he runs down a list of the wrongs committed against him by just about everyone. Everyone, absolutely everyone, is an enemy.
I'm beginning to think this is his opportunity to try to change history and create a much better legacy for himself than he actually earned. It also appears to be a revenge tour. He may be a nice person personally (though I have trouble imagining that) and I have to admit to being appalled by his apparent attitude toward marriage and wives (which seem to be completely self serving,) but publicly and politically he strikes me as a dangerous man. There is also a difference between being a visionary and having hallucinations.
I don't understand why anyone thinks Santorum or Gingrich are serious candidates at all or why anyone would support either of them. Gingrich is an unreliable, hypocritical ethical sinkhole Obama would love to rip into and Santorum couldn't even hold the support of his own state, much less gain the kind of support a President would need in his own right. He comes across as holier-than-thou, he'll automatically alienate a lot of people who don't like the religion on one's sleeve thing, and he's as much a big-government type as any of them. The only reason anyone's supporting him now is that he appears to be the only viable alternative to Romney and can play off anti-Mormon religious bigotry. Romney has some liabilities; many conservatives don't trust him and his religion and support for him is therefore more tepid than Obama's opponents want to see. But I think conservatives and Tea Partiers are going to have to make their peace with him. Who knows? If he's elected, they might find he'll be far more effective in handling the budget than any of the others and that after taking so many hits for not being conservative enough, he'll take an approach pretty satisfactory to them.
wish newt had a showing that would offer hope ,overall he is the best for the job.that being said let's hire Santorum, we need to get busy ousting O'bama; that will be a big job at this point.
Neither of these two clowns -- Gingrich or Santorum -- has a snowballs chance in hell of winning the nomination. Romney has that licked up and Obama will win in November. That's reality.

The way it is now, if Santorium and Newt continue, neither of them will ever win the nomination. However if one of them drops out ( may be Newt) one of them could win. Whatever happens from now on, the two of them have done an excellent job. They were simply overspent and they had the wind of the GOP establishment machine against them.
Those most enamored of communism/socialism are the least productive members of society who want those goodies that accrue to the most productive. Their agenda is detrimental to a productive society resulting in their attempt to hide that agenda by calling themselves progressives or liberals. These communist/socialists who call themselves progressives or liberals now control both parties and those two parties are rapidly bringing this nation to rule by man, loss of all property and enslavement.

Every candidate up until these last two election cycles, with one exception who did not get caught until out of office, qualified for the office. Now we have Romney, Santorum, McCain, Obama and two VP possibles Jindal and Rubio all of whom fail to qualify because they are not Natural Born Citizens. Do you think this a coincidence?
