Subscribe to RSSSTEUBENVILLE, OH -- Rick Santorum's campaign is calling on conservatives to pressure Newt Gingrich to abandon his bid for the White House, a senior adviser told reporters tonight.
Senior campaign strategist John Brabender said the key for the campaign going forward will be creating an opportunity to challenge Mitt Romney one-on-one, though Brabender maintained the Santorum campaign would not directly call on Gingrich to drop out of the race.

"We're never going to call on anybody to get out, but what we are calling is on Tea Party supporters and conservatives is to rally behind the only candidate that has demonstrated over and over again that he's the one who can compete against Mitt Romney," Brabender said.
"The real key right now is, can we get an opportunity to get a one-on-one shot with Mitt Romney," he said. "What we found is, Gingrich did a nice job in his home state, but I don't even think he had a second place anywhere else ... It's time for conservatives to say 'Look, we're going to rally behind one candidate, Rick Santorum."
Speaking to reporters in the high school gym where Santorum spoke just moments earlier, Brabender declared that no matter what the final result in Ohio, it already has been a bad night for Mitt Romney's campaign.
"All I know is after spending nearly $10 million here in Ohio, right now its neck and neck and it's going to be close to a tie, and somebody will win, but not by much. I don't know how they declare that anything but a disappointment," he said.

An email from Kansas GOP director Clay Barker says Newt Gingrich has canceled a series of visits to the state Friday and Saturday, in advance of Saturday's caucuses.
Gingrich was supposed to watch the Big 12 tournament Friday evening in Johnson County.

They lie about Obama, and 1 or 2 days later they are proved wrong. At least Obama isn't lying to the people, he's honest when he says this country was in trouble when he took office, and the reason for that was because BUSH and the GOPers left him in that situation. I have not heard any way the 4 clowns running against him are going to make anything better for the middle and lower class, all we hear about is how they will cut taxes for the RICH. Santorum represents the religious zealots that would turn our government and military into an extension of their own personal religious beliefs without any regard to the legal rights of the citizens of this country. Vote for this nut job at your own risk, I for one do not want the government interfering in my bedroom and my sex life.

Historically the deciding factor was whether a candidate could see a reasonable path to becoming the nominee himself. It is self-serving and betrays the conservative cause to battle on in attempt to destroy Romney. Obama MUST NOT BE REELECTED! Stop the corrosion of our common purpose, drop your support for Santorum/Gingrich; nominate Romney and let's turn our attention on the Destroyer (fundamental changer) of America!

The idea that Gingrich or Santorum should drop-out and then the other would beat Romney is idiocy. All combined, even with Paul's delegates, Romney is still leading.

One of the TV personalities said today that when a GOP candidate begins a statement, "Obama said....", that the statement has never proven to be what he said.

Santorum should be asking Ron Paul to drop out not Gingrich. If voters think Santorum is the better candidate they will vote for him whether Gingrich drops out of not. I feel he is a desperate candidate and wants that presidency badly. But so does Rommney. I am not voting for either Rommney or Santorum I am voting for Gingrich. The people need to wake up in this country. Gingrich is the most experience candiate running and can put this country back on its feet again. Rommney will retain Obamacare but rename it. The US Attorney General has declared that any of Obamas illegal actions are Legal according to the Attorney General. But NOT THE US CONSTITUTION. If you're a Dem, you want Ronmey to get the nomination because he will be weak in the south. Gingrich isn't going anywhere. The republican party will make sure of that. As long as they can keep the conservative vote split, between Gingrich and Santorum, Romney will be the nominee.
Does anyone remember when the December jobs report came out, the nutbags said it was because of the upcoming holidays, wait until the February report comes out, it will show job loses after the temps have been laid off.
Guess what nutbags, the February report is out, it shows increases, not loses. Everytime they blame Obama for something, a week or two later, etc, it showes they lied. But you do have to give the nutbags credit, they keep trying, and keep losing.
