Jump starting the weekend & cutting out early eh guys?

No problem, you all deserve it! Keeping up with this election is more then a full time job!

Two sponsors have now pulled their advertising from Limpball's hate machine! Let's see how many more follow suit...

When I bought my Sleep Number bed a couple of years ago, I ended up on their e-mail list!

I, in no uncertain terms told them to remove me from it and I would not be recommended their product to anyone until they took action!

See ya all over @ the Dew Drop Inn - we will be raising a few to a brave young woman named Sandra Fluke!

Give these old white men hell honey!

You bet we're raising a toast to Sandra Fluke and to her courage! Her statement in response to Rush Limbaugh was pure class.

Super Tuesday – Santorum Loses Ohio

Ohio Republican primary (next Tuesday) … more confusion / questions …

Rick Santorum already knew that he failed to qualify in 3 districts but his delegate troubles go deeper.

According to the Ohio Republican Party Friday night he could be ineligible for 18 of the 63 delegates because he may be ineligible in 6 other districts. 63 delegates are awarded proportionally and 3 additional delegates go to the winner for a total of 66 delegates for Ohio.

This would almost assure a Romney win.

The unanswered question is what happens if Santorum wins any of those 9 districts.

Chevy underestimated the sales volume of the Volt by about ten thousand and will stop production sidelining 1300 employees for 5 weeks.

Now if they had more than one electric model they would be able to just change over to another model. This is simply part of expected startup/sales issues that occur with any new product which this must be considered to be. It is much like the issues experienced when radios and TVs changed from vacuum tube to semiconductor technology.

While the product on the outside looked the same it required an entirely different production line and process. Many people didn’t trust the new transistor based product and sales were not stable for the first few years.

Dennis, when you UNDERestimate sales volume, you must INCREASE production.

GM OVERestimated sales volume. That's why the plant shutdown. They are making a product almost no one wants to buy.

Just why on this green earth you think that they should have two models to choose from is beyond me. I suppose your theory is that, if folks don't want to buy an electric car that goes less than twenty city miles on a charge before switching to gas- and getting pretty lousy mileage, to boot- they just might buy a different model.

Its that kind of magical thinking that is the problem with liberals. They cannot see reality even when it is right in front of them.

No Joe,

Yes I said underestimated when I meant overestimated … sorry

[Just why on this green earth you think that they should have two models to choose from is beyond me.] Of course it is beyond you.

I never said they should have 2 models I just gave an example of why it was necessary to shut down when if they had another model that could use the same assembly line then adjustments could be made to the production schedule and switch to another model and keep the plant open.

I actually worked in automotive assembly factories – have you? If you did you would understand what my example of having 2 or more models that are similar enough that they can be assembled on the same production line.

  • 6 votes
#2.17 - Sat Mar 3, 2012 8:53 AM EST

On an assembly line, Dennis? No, I must confess I have not.

I have, however, consulted extensively on the economies of scale in such plants. The single biggest reason Detroit got into so much trouble was boneheaded decisions about what cars to manufacture- whether consumers wanted them or not.

That's your Volt story, by the way. Consumers don't want them in DROVES.

In any event, if there is a dedicated line for the Volt, it is because said line is incompatible with traditional engines- thus, the only way there would be another model to produce on that line would be if it was another battery operated vehicle.

Why on earth would they have two, when they cannot sell one?

Alright folks I'm outta here for a couple of weeks.

So before I stop by the Dew Drop Inn to offer my encouragement and protection to some Crocuses, Daffodils and Robins that have shown up way to early this Spring I want to remind you'll of a couple of things that's on my mind.

BURLINGTON, Wash. (AP) — Lynn D. "Buck" Compton, a veteran whose World War II exploits were depicted in the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers," has died, his family said.
Compton died Saturday in Burlington, Wash., after having a heart attack last month, the family told the Los Angeles Times in a story Tuesday.
In January, nearly 200 guests, including actors from the miniseries, attended his 90th birthday party, the Skagit Valley Herald reported.
"To us he wasn't really a war hero, he was just a hero, period," Tracy Compton told the Herald.
Lynn Compton also is remembered for his legal career in California. He headed the team that prosecuted Sirhan B. Sirhan for the slaying of Robert F. Kennedy and was appointed to the 2nd District Court of Appeal in 1970 by Gov. Ronald Reagan. He retired from the bench in 1990.
He was awarded a Silver Star and a Purple Heart during World War II. But it wasn't until later in life that he became famous for his military service as a first lieutenant in Easy Company after the unit parachuted into France on D-Day in 1944. Historian Stephen E. Ambrose's 1992 best seller about the unit was made into the 2001 TV series.

http://news.yahoo.com/band-brothers-soldier-dies-90-wash-172718718.html

Davy Jones was not a tall man. But what a long pop-culture shadow he cast.

Standing about a head shorter than his mates in The Monkees — the nation's first made-for-TV boy band — the 5-foot-3, British-born singer had the winning personality of his mop-topped alter ego Paul McCartney, the teen-idol dreaminess of a Justin Bieber and the distinctive voice of a genuine hitmaker.

Jones, 66, died Wednesday of a heart attack near his home in Indiantown, Fla.

A fellow needs to keep a certain number of simple Everyday Heroes to inspire him to be the best human being that you can. Lieutenant you were one of mine. Rest in Peace.

I was a little old to understand the squealing young ladies that accompanied Mr. Jones rise to fame. However I wasn't too old to appreciate him keeping me company on nights in a lonely place when I only had a newly developed transistor radio to prove there was indeed a World out there to return to. I'm always sad when vestiges of my sometimes misspent youth pass from this veil of tears into that great beyond.

As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don't quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you'll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We'll make it. See you'll in a couple of weeks.

The traveling GOP/RNC "Clown Show" is now going into "Super Spewing" mode for next Tuesday. The GOP/RNC "Zombies" will have a choice between "Romulian Romney" the poltically "flip-flopping" Clown, and "Sanitiarium Santorum" the "Praying Puker." One should not forget the "Moonbase Antics" of "Nutty Newt." On Super GOP Spewing Tuesday the GOP/RNC Circus will be in full "Spewing Mode." The GOP Elephants will be walking around in endless political, and economic circles. "Crazy Cantor" will be brewing more spoiled tea from his illegal "Cracked" Tea Kettle of just "Crazy" behind the GOP Big Top. "Nutty Newt" will have the children working as janitors to keep the circus grounds clean. What Child Labor Laws?? The "Special" speaking at the Super Tuesday Clown Show will be "Lunatic Limbaugh" the Moron with a Mic!" He will watching his "Special" collection of DVD's, and passing out prescription medications for all. Then "Lunatic Limbaugh" will give his "Special" views on contraception, sexual issues, and Women's Rights. To help "Lunatic Limbaugh" with his presentation he will have "Puppet Palin," and "Bitchy Bachmann" do some "Spewing" for him. "Puppet Palin" will play the bango, and "Bitchy Bachmann" will dance to the "Music Of Madness." What a joke America!

Well, happy Friday to all. I generally like to lighten up a bit on the end of the week posts, but feel some things need to be said.

Rush Limbaugh is a coward.

Good a place to start as any, don't you know. Why is he a coward? Just this. He sits behind a microphone 3 hours a day, and spouts off absolute rot to the ill informed and uneducated. Like all cockroaches, he will not come out in the sanitizing light of day to be confronted by those that he cannot bully and cut off. If you ever listen to that show, you know that only a few get through that do not spout the "dittohead" line. Those that disagree with him are allowed to speak for a few seconds, and then Rush uses the cut off, and talks over them. Why? Because he is incapable of more than simplistic thought.

For those of you who don't know, Limbaugh did not make it in college. He dropped out. Which means his ability to debate anyone is greatly diminished. He is capable of only the most rudimentary thought...and only in a situation that he has total control over.

How do I know this? Pat Sajack had a talk show for about 5 minutes in the 80's. He made the mistake of asking Limbaugh to sub for him. Limbaugh did not have the security of a controlled audience and he literally froze upon challenge. And sat there, wordless for an interminable time.

At this moment Limbaugh, is of course, saying that we "just don't get" that he is using "absurdity to illustrate the absurd." That somehow, this is over the heads of those who are, rightfully calling him on it. But, you see, Rush, you are not that smart, and you are not that complex and this is about you being a bully. Satire and irony should be left to experts, and there was nothing either satirical or funny about what you said about Ms. Fluke, and all other women.

It is long past time that you come out and be challenged by your betters. Of those, there are many. Rachel Maddow, Bill Maher, Keith Olbermann, Brian Williams.

But, cockroaches never come out to the light of day, and Limbaugh will not either.

Those of you who listen to that cretin ought to be ashamed. Those of you who sponsor him should be ashamed as well.

You are supporting a coward and a bully and a misogynist. And that should be all you ever need to know about Rush Limbaugh.

My thanks to my hosts for allowing me this soapbox. Feisty, headed to the Dew Drop Inn, where we shall celebrate Ms. Flukes and her courage.

Have a good weekend all.

Hey! Could somebody please post the list (again) of Limbaughs advertisers? I wanna make sure I patronize each and every one of them at some point during the weekend. Of course, I'm gonna be pretty busy this weekend with Sandra Fluke coming over and all...She said she can only stay at my place Saturday, then saturday night she's supposed to meet up with the University Of Virginia marching band. Oh, and the Washington Nationals on Sunday. But still...

She's actually (and surprisingly) cute. I fully expected somebody making that liberal and idiotic of a request to the American taxpayer to be a full-on, Rosie O'Donnell carpet muncher. Of course, then she wouldn't need us to pay for her casual sex but when the hell have liberals ever made any damn sense?

Do you not get, Amy, that your particular talking point has been withdrawn because it is so inapt?

See, cancer is a DISEASE- pregnancy is not. Oh- and, other than condoms, which are NOT covered by Obama's royal edict, birth control does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases.

Then again, how would you know?

    #7.2 - Fri Mar 2, 2012 5:04 PM EST

Do YOU not get it no jo: This is not a disease issue. This is not a "religious liberty" issue, THIS IS AN EQUALITY ISSUE.

This was settled YEARS ago: Employers have been required to provide contraceptive coverage in health plans since 2000. The EEOC ruled that failure to provide coverage violates the 1978 Pregnancy Discrimination Act.

But, given who and what you are....how would you know?

    newday,

I believe that it is also cheaper for insurance companies
to supply birth control and contraceptives for free than pay their share
(70-80%) for pregnancy and other effects from having unprotected sex.

Unless the employer believes it to be against his moral
or religious beliefs and refuses to cover those needs.

The right or wrong of abortion is not really the issue here; that really is something individuals need to contemplate for themselves. What is the issue, that definitely represents something very wrong, that should never be tolerated, is allowing the sliding of religion into government. Religion should not dictate to government, to then have government dictate religion to the people - that is what you see in Iran and it is totally wrong and oppressive. You also see it in Saudi Arabia, other mideast countries and historically in England and throughout europe, which is what America correctly escaped. And it should be understood that one religion, be it Christianity or any other, won’t ever make it right. Not being religious or being religious, including the option of which religion, should always be strictly protected as an American’s individual choice. There are those now trying to have religious dictates be adopted and mandated by government and they really have to be firmly rejected by the people to assure America doesn’t have its basic freedoms deceptively undermined. As can be seen, the consequences are drastic.

A serial rapist who is extremely against women's right to get rid of unplanned, unexpected and unwanted pregnancies forced upon them by serial rapists bragged as he wrote the following:

" I have at least 6 children out there being raised by six different young school girls I raped. No one has been able to arrest me because each time I rape like that, I would smartly disappear without being caught.

One major reason I like Republican party is their anti-abortion policy that could not allow my victims to get rid of my babies growing in their wombs no matter the circumstances. Yes, it made it possible for me also to have children out there. I saw a picture of one of the babies and he looks exactly like me. I wanted to have a biological baby and the only way I could have a baby brought into this world was to rape a girl and that is what I did. Women hate me because of my ugly appearance and a deformity that I have so raping was my only alternative of protecting my right to have children. One of my victims; a fifteen year old young school girl, whose parents were staunch supporters of Republicans' policies, really cried to her parents to let her get rid of my baby by terminating the pregnancy but the parents could not allow her. I am glad that I have this baby with her even though she does not know where I am. I am thankful to Republicans and her parents for having protected my baby. Democrats' policy of freedom to choose would have enabled the young girl to terminated the pregnancy and I would have lost my baby. The girl dropped out of school and even though she hates the baby, I do not care much because my baby is growing up."

I read about what this serial rapist wrote and was shocked. Many girls have been forced to carry rapists' babies in their wombs and have had their lives destroyed because Republicans believe that even rapists have a right to have their babies raised by their victims no matter what. Rapists are very happy with republicans on this.

I wish this rapist who wrote this would be finally brought to justice.

I am posting this because Dr. Land is an influential Baptist preacher and his views could affect Super Tuesday voting in the South. I do not endorse his views or believe religion should play a part in the election, but it would be naive to ignore the religious forces at work and their potential impact. Remember when the Evangelicals met in Houston and tried to derail Romney a while back?

      Quoting from Newsmax March 1:

Dr. Richard Land, a leading figure in the influential Southern Baptist Convention, tells Newsmax TV he does not consider Mitt Romney and other Mormons to be Christians – and likens Mormonism to Islam.

Land is president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), the largest Protestant body in the United States with more than 16 million members. He was appointed by President George W. Bush to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, a government body.

As one of the leading voices of the SBC, Land’s views on the GOP primary race are significant because the SBC’s membership has been a key constituency of the Republican Party’s national coalition that has given it electoral success for congressional and presidential races.

And Land’s comments may indicate that even if Romney wins the GOP nomination, he may face resistance from GOP base voters.

Asked if the SBC views Romney and fellow Mormons as Christians, Land declares: “No. Mormonism is not an orthodox, Trinitarian, Christian faith. They do not believe the same thing about God the Father, God the Son, or God the Holy Spirit that we believe.

“Perhaps the best way to describe Mormonism, perhaps the most charitable way to describe Mormonism, is that it’s a fourth Abrahamic religion, with Joseph Smith playing the role that Muhammad plays in Islam and the Book of Mormon playing the role that the Quran plays in Islam. It’s based upon the Christian faith and the Jewish faith but it goes beyond them and it contradicts them.

“Islam is not a Christian faith. Mormonism is not a Christian faith,” he said with emphasis.

The Rev. Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, expressed a similar view about Romney and his Mormon faith in a recent interview with MSNBC.

Asked if Romney was a Christian, Graham said no.

“Most Christians would not recognize Mormons as part of the Christian faith,” Graham said.

“They believe in Jesus Christ. They believe in a lot of other things, too, that we don’t accept theologically.”
