Reversing course, former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D) announced today that he will, in fact, run for the open Senate seat in Nebraska.
Sen. Ben Nelson (D) announced earlier this year that he would not seek reelection.

Nati Harnik / AP
Though Kerrey mentions his 'commitment' to Nebraska, Republicans will surely note that Kerrey, for the past decade, has lived in New York City, where he was president of The New School.
Here's Kerrey's statement:
"Doing things the conventional way has never been my strong suit. This afternoon, I will file to become a candidate for the United States Senate in Nebraska. I came to realize that my previous decision was the easy one, not the right one. My commitment to serve Nebraska and America, and to be part of the debate about the challenges we face was too strong to dismiss. My family supports this decision 100%. I look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks. We have a lot of work to do."
Though Kerrey mentions his "commitment" to Nebraska, Republicans will surely note that Kerrey, for the past decade, has lived in New York City, where he was president of The New School.
It's welcome news for Democrats, a day after they got a big target in Maine because of Sen. Olympia Snowe (R) announced she was not seeking reelection.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee, at the ready with oppo research on Kerrey's record, dismissed Kerrey as a "liberal" who has lived in "Greenwich Village for so many years" and being "simply out-of-step with Nebraska."
"After making a backroom deal to get Nebraska’s senior senator to vote for ObamaCare, it appears Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid has made a deal with an even more liberal Democrat Bob Kerrey," NRSC spokesman Brian Walsh said. “As Nebraskans reacquaint themselves with Kerrey they will quickly recognize that living in Greenwich Village for so many years tends to change a person. Whether it’s his support for cap-and-trade, his advocacy for a government-run health care system or his desire to raise taxes on Nebraska small businesses, Bob Kerrey is a loyal supporter of the Obama agenda and he’s simply out-of-step with Nebraska.”
Three weeks ago, Kerrey had announced he would not run. He said then:
"I have given the decision of becoming a candidate for the U.S. Senate very serious thought and prayer," Kerrey said in an email, per AP. "For many reasons I nearly said yes. In the end I choose to remain a private citizen. To those who urged me to do so, I am sorry, very sorry to have disappointed you. I hope you understand that I have chosen what I believe is best for my family and me."
If President Obama wins reelection, Republicans need to win a net of four seats to take control of the Senate. If a Republican wins the presidency, the GOP needs to pick up three.
Republicans are favored to win in North Dakota and would have been heavily favored in Nebraska to takeover seats currently held by Democrats. But the entry of Kerrey makes the race competitive and -- at least -- will be someplace Democrats hope Republicans will now have to spend some money and reduce their firepower elsewhere.
There are several toss-up states, for example, where control will likely rest, particularly -- Montana (D-Tester), Missouri (D-McCaskill), Virginia (D-Open), Nevada (R-Open), Massachusetts (R-Brown).
The favorite to win the GOP primary in Nebraska is Attorney General Jon Bruning, but he faces a primary, notably from state Treasurer Don Stenberg.
Kerrey served in the U.S. Senate from 1989 to 2000 and ran for president in 1992. It's not the first time Kerrey's name has come up for a Nebraska Senate seat and he declined.
But he has lived in New York City for the past decade, serving as president of The New School, far from his Nebraska roots. (He's currently President Emeritus at The New School.)

This is a great idea John. Nebraska and the nation need you. Just remember to keep your speeches short and to the point!
Hate to point this out, but it is BOB KERREY. Sorry.
I think Nebraska has changed alot since Johnny-Bob left town. They wernt to thrilled with Nelson's support of Obama policies either....
Oops! ( I will not say "my bad!" I hate that!)
Wayne...another example of an informed Democrat.
In this instance Bob, I deserve that snarky remark. So far I have you down for one point.
Wayne, no worries...Gingerbread Momma has you beat!
Anyone who thinks Bob Kerrey is a flaming liberal is very seriously mistaken. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but he is not all that far to the left. Indeed, he may be to the right of President Obama, and the President is not all that liberal himself.
I'd sure like to see DCIA's take on this. I believe that's her neck of the woods.
David, everyone is to the right of Hussein, except maybe Michael Moore and Sean Penn.
didn't he date Linda Ronstad when he was Governor?
Not Linda Ronstad- you're thinking of Gov. Brown of California. Debra Winger met Bob K in Lincoln, NE when she was filming Terms of Endearment
Just what this country needs, another senior citizen liberal making our rules. At least if he does get the job he will be in the minority because the Republicans are going to take control of the Senate this year.
Tell the old fart to retire.
There you go again, Bob, displaying your inability to see the entire political spectrum. Obama is either exactly in the center, or slightly to the right. But I guess with the right extending fo far over the hill as it is these days, it's hard to see the middle. Liberals will not be missing Ben Nelson.
JH-479998,
Keep dreaming my friend...The repubs will be lucky to carry the redneck states...let alone the nation as a whole. Do you plan on voting for the candidate that stops women from expressing their healthcare rights to include family planning, or are you wanting to have a President who lives so far removed from the common man, that his mansion"s sidewalks are lined in gold? Yeah...sure... the Average American has so much in common with either of these Bozo's...
However, it is very unlikely that he'll be elected again. Nebraska is not likely to send another Democrat to the Senate for a long time. From what I see here, he'd be lucky to get more than 25% of the vote against Bruning. He might get 40% if Stenberg was the Republican, though.
No, this certainly wouldn't be JOHN Kerry... "GOOD GRIEF !"
John Kerry most likely would've liked to have been able to have parked his Massachusetts yacht in Nebraska, to avoid paying taxes on it, but turned out to have been out of luck in that regard. on account of there not even being any WATER [to speak of] in Nebraska, and all : )
OH MY GOD! HE LIVES IN GREENWICH VILLAGE!!!
OH MY GOD!
As anyone who knows what they are talking about would know...Greenwich Village is a very expensive place to live. And he is President of the New School, a well respected College (Actually it is a University) Primarily it teaches creative and artistic disciplines...Parsons School of Design is one mostly the design/fashion etc school, Several Drama/Music etc Schools, Etc. It has grown greatly under Kerrey's leadership. They are constructing a major new building now as a result of his efforts. He ceased being President in Jan of 2011.
If you think the Village is a hippie filled bohemian enclave, you are living in the 1960s...If you think it is the center of Socialism in America you are off by about 100 years. 1BRs here sell for as much as $1.5 Million. Nothing decent can be had under $800K or so. A townhouse will set you back $7 Million Plus. THis is baby carriage city now!
Bob -
of course one could be a libertarian like Ron Paul, which is both left and right of Obama!
Hooray for John. Once again John Kerrey answers the call to serve. Bless you and your campaign.
Sorry, GM, it is Bob Kerrey. See above.
Thanks Phine...but you knew who meant..right? I know the difference, one is John Kerry, the other this one in topic, Bob Kerrey, both great Americans.
GM, I really like Bob Kerrey. One of the good guys.
phine - What is it you like about Bob Kerrey, if I may ask? He is liberal on many issues and more moderate on others. He was a member of the 911 commission and was very critical of the defense and state departments of the Clinton and Bush Administrations, if I remember right.
He had a excellent military record, except for one "so called" incident, depending on who you believe. He was awarded the Medal of Honor.
His voting record was more liberal when fronted with social issues, voted against DOMA, and the Clinton welfare reform bill. He did announce a run for President, but really didn't have his heart into it, don't know if his heart is really into this run for Senate.
Wrong Gingerbread!! JOHN Kerrey is a filthy rich 1%'er who never worked a day in his life, got everything handed to him, went against his own country during the Vietnam era. Then got even richer (you people hate the rich, remember) by being a gold-digging boy toy. Then he ran for president and the nation rejected his elitist ass.
Typical stupid liberal that doesn't know who is who!!!
Damage, you truly are an imbecile. Kerry's parents never had much money. There was money in the extended family, but John did not grow up rich. I guess it would be news to the Navy that he "never did a day of work," despite being a highly decorated combat veteran. I'm sure whatever half-wit job you hold down is far more important. His opinion on the Vietnam was is 1000x more valid than yours, considering that he fought there, you worthless piece of garbage.
Both Kerry and Nelson were governors of the great state of Nebraska. I have voted for them before. But Nelson betrayed my trust when he sold out to Obama on Obamacare. Pretty sure Kerry fits the same mold; therefore, no vote from me.
Damage can not be called garbage because garbage once had value.
Ken - Ben Nelson was one of three Democrats who signed the Grover Norquist pledge - he's retiring to enjoy the fruits of his gains
No Bob. I am a Flaming Liberal. Bob Kerrey is conservative by my standards.
left-handed:
Let's get rid of all anti-people politicians in 2012.......let's vote their asses out
Washington DC would be a ghost town.
This is great news! Kerrey and Maine's Mike Michaud will be great partners in the Senate after both win in 2012. More well qualified, moderate and CIVIL senators need to apply!
PS Rep. Michaud took out papers today to run for Olympia's seat. He's great on veterans issues and pro-clean energy business. Things are looking up!
I agree this is wonderful news! I've always liked Bob Kerrey.
Amy--I don't know Michaud. Was he a U.S. Rep at any time, and, if so, what district did he represent? Who was the Rep. from the Portland area who ran against Collins a few years ago?
I'll take Bob Kerrey over Ben Nelson any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
It will be great to have a REAL Democrat rather then a DINO!
Absolutely wonderful news! Bob Kerrey is smart and dedicated. Time to swing away from the fringe right wing. They have brought this country to its knees out of their greed, and hatred of intellectual thought.
Feisty: did you see that Romney says that he was part of that reprehensible Mormon practice...baptising the dead? That ought to go over well with the evangelicals.
This is good news. I read about it yesterday but wasn't sure it was a done deal. I think Kerrey did some on-the-ground exploration and discovered something not mentioned by the beltway media. The Keystone XL Pipeline has changed western Nebraska thinking and conservative farmers and citizens are not happy with the GOP legislature in the State as well as their federal lawmakers; they were happy when President Obama put a stop to it. To understand this thinking, just do some research on the Nebraska Sand Hills, it has a fragile ecology;this is the area where the pipeline would have crossed. TransCanada has been threatening farmers and using other tactics to get their way. Will Nebraska go all blue, not likely but I think a lovely shade of purple is possible.
Jack, Mike Michaud represents the 2nd district (the northern half of the state) in the House of Representatives. He worked for a paper mill for 29 years, prior to entering politics (how is that for business experience?) He served in the state legislature before winning the Congressional seat. Real nice guy, very effective and CIVIL. A real Mainer.
Tom Allen ran against Susan Collins in 2008. He was our Representative. Tom is great, I misss him. He is writing a book on incivility in national politics (sense a theme?)
NDD,
Sure did - didn't they even slip into their magic underwear and baptise President Obama's deceased mother?
They need to mind their own f*cking business, they have NO business ramming their beliefs down anyones throats!
Amy,
Right. I remembered it was Tom something. I was really sorry to see him lose. Really intelligent guy, very reasonable. So, yes, definitely a connection. Thanks.
Hello Amy, do you think he can win Maine? I need some information before I send money to him.
Translation of Bob Kerrey's remarks: I watched the GOP primary contest over the past few weeks and I realized that President Obama will have LONG coattails, especially with the way he has handled the Keystone pipeline decision and the economy in general and I'm in.
Feisty & New Day---I read where the Mormons had promised to stop the practice of baptizing dead people but they have not done so. Anne Frank is another person they have baptized.
Feisty, Hussein and his momma are muslims...I don't think the underwear thing works on them unless you wrap it around her head like a turban.
Tommy, I just read that several big names in Maine politics are taking out papers to run for Olympia's seat. Last week it was just a couple of state reps who were going to try.
Former Governor Baldadacci and Rep Chellie Pingree have started the process too. My money, however, is on Mike Michaud, because he can attract Independents and moderate Republicans, as well as Democrats. He is certainly well quaified. I think a senator should truly represent his entire state, and Michaud is the embodiment of a true Mainer. Everybody likes Mike.
Steeler, they had only promised to stop baptizing Holocaust victims, but they haven't even done that.
Jody, Nebraskans were all in favor of ravaging the environment with fossil fuels...as long as it wasn't THEIR environment. It's been said that a conservative is a liberal who got mugged. Perhaps a liberal is a conservative who is suddenly faced with the prospect of having his own backyard polluted by oil companies.
MKM-thanks for the correction. There is something about that practice that is very troubling to me. As a liberal, I believe in separation of church and state. This makes me realize that I also believe in separation of church and church---I think each religion should be free to believe as it sees fit, but please leave other religions and non-believers alone.
.......NDD,
Sure did - didn't they even slip into their magic underwear and baptise President Obama's deceased mother?
They need to mind their own f*cking business, they have NO business ramming their beliefs down anyones throats!........
My My, Feisty. You kiss your lesbian lover with that mouth? I predicted earlier, in a post that you twits had deleted, that the Mormon bashing would be revving up very soon and very nastily. Uh, score another one for the Damage man.
NewDay- Tell me again about which party is the one that spreads fear and hate of religions?
feisty (3.3)-- two things. 1) will you respond if we refer to you using the words you have chosen for your icon?
2) "It will be great to have a REAL Democrat rather then a DINO!" I guess that means you have accepted that he had some harsh words about then Senator (Mr. Present) Obama a few years ago:
On December 19, 2007, Kerrey endorsed Senator Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Presidential nomination. In doing so, he stated that about Senator Barack Obama: "I like the fact that his name is Barack Hussein Obama, and that his father was a Muslim and that his paternal grandmother is a Muslim. [...] There's a billion people on the planet that are Muslims, and I think that experience is a big deal." Some took this as an attack and Kerrey later wrote a letter of apology to Obama, saying: "I answered a question about your qualifications to be president in a way that has been interpreted as a backhanded insult of you. I assure you I meant to do just the opposite." Obama has said that he accepted Kerrey's apology.
Kerrey made negative comments about John Edwards while speaking of his Hillary Clinton endorsement in January 2008:
"Even before John Edwards was chasing ambulances in North Carolina and Barack was voting ‘present’ in the Illinois state senate, Senator Clinton was involved in major policy initiatives."
Bob, where is the proof that President Obama and his mother were Muslims? Simply because his father was Muslim does not mean that he was reared Muslim. I don't believe that his grandparents, who are supposed to have reared him were Muslim, but Christian. I for one am getting sick and tired of hearing about his religious beliefs, they are personal and actually none of anybodys business. Where is it written that a qualification to be President is to have any Christian belief? Does anyone worry about the religious beliefs of their state representatives? Supposedly a good Christian turns the other cheek, when is that going to happen? Enough already!!!!
susie -- i agree. you must not have been around this site much recently. there has been a tremendous flow of anger and vitriol aimed at santorum over his religious beliefs.
Susie Kue, Ummm, I don't know, but maybe the fact that he canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House (he stated that he did it because of "not wanting to offend anyone". BUT, on Sept. 25,2009 from 4 AM to 7 PM, a National Day of Prayer was held on Capitol Hill beside the White House. Enough already is right!!!!!
James, thats ok with SUSIE, he is a Republican. Enough already???
feisty dear - you have responded to later comments in this story, would you be kind enough to look up at 3.17 and share your thoughts on the two items?
thanks
Bob 1136191 you wrote: 'I don't know, but maybe the fact that he canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House (he stated that he did it because of "not wanting to offend anyone". He did not cancel the National Day of Prayer read the enclosed link showing what actually happened. Your quoting an email sent around by someone who cut and pasted cherry picked pieces of info to suit their dislike of the President and you it bought hook line and sinker because it suits your mindset.

Who really cares about yet another politician changing his mind and deciding he wants to get back into power ?
What is really important is that today we lost a truly great singer, whose mention of his name (to anyone over the age of 40) always brought a smile and a remembrance of Marcia Brady trying to get him to her dance. Now if Chris Christie wants to put the flags at half staff for him, I don't think anyone will object.
RIP, Davey Jones..... you will TRULY be missed.
I do. And it's not about power with Kerrey. It's about service to his country. That's something people who have never served their country don't understand. . . .
I do too, Bob Kerrey, a Medal of Honor winner from his service in Vietnam.
A man who served the state of Nebraska as Governor and as Senator for a number of years. He has been president of the New School a New York City University for 8 years. He is eminently qualified for the job and is popular in Nebraska. He will make a wonderful addition to the Senate.
Popular? NO!
RINO'S are republican in name only, and DINO's are democrat in name only. Does that make people who say " who's interested no one " wino's ?
I have to disagree with Feisty on the term DINO. There are no DINOs. Democrats have always represented a very broad political spectrum, so while we may disagree with a Ben Nelson, who tends to be more conservative than a traditional, pre-Ron Reagan Republican, is still a member of the Democratic party. Democrats do not have litmus tests, and do not reject members who have a position they defend with reason.
And, as a matter of fact, there are no RINOs either. There are only honest people in the Republican party who think for themselves, use reason as our founders demanded, and don't blindly follow the insane precepts and lies of their self appointed rulers, who reject years of service to the country by labeling responsible people RINOs because they don't want to go along with the efforts of the extreme right wing. Efforts, we should add, that go completely against the principles this country was founded on.
Very well said Jon. The Rino / Dino name calling is immature and ignorant. I'll take a person who thinks over any hard-lined politician any day.
I'm skeptical that Nebraskans will embrace him as one of their own having lived here in NYC for over a decade. I hope I'm wrong. Does anyone know if he still maintains some kind of residence in that state?
Pat,
I don't think he has a residence in the Nebraska, but he does own a couple of fitness centers. There is some question here if he will be able to meet the residency requirments. However, I believe that he would have made sure of that before he announced.
When a moonbat flip/flops its called reversing course. Oh I forgot moonbats are the only creatures on earth that are two faced bogots other than humans. Good job moonbat kerrey two bad you want be elected.
What is a "bogot"? Either you are a renowned biologist or someone who can't spell as good as a 6th grader. Did you even make it out of the 6th grade?
Zorro, don't be a snob. Remember only a snob thinks everyone has to be literate. O.K. we have our mascots for the Senate race, a moonbat( if they exist) vs. Bruno (usually considered a bear).
Stay away from that bottle, there. Every baby is vulnerable to drinking too much milk.
Yes! Moonbats!
As a transplanted Missourian, I am so glad a progressive Democrat with a national name has decided to run in NE to replace the Dem-in-name-only Nelson. Too bad the party couldn't find a good Dem already there. I only hope NE has not dropped down the last hole of teabag hell never to return to sanity. BTW Bob Jones 359, if you don't have anything worthwhile to add to the discussion, put a sock in it. I can get all the name calling I need on Fox.
so much of a national name that several of the posters here called him john??
Excuse me jack I didn't call you a name but with your reply you did. By the way moonbats don't have the intellegence of humans. lmao. popcorn : )
Thanks for the profound insight Bob. Now go back to your coloring books.
I don't know much about Bob Kerry but from what I have seen he seems like a great guy and an asset to the people of Nebraska.
Excellent! He is a moderate and has served his country well and will continue to do so...
This is great news! We need all the level headed serious responsible adults we can get in Congress. Go Dems----------Go Obama 2012!
It's hard to see how this guy gets elected in the "Reddest State in America"
Steve, probably the same way he won the Governorship and Senate seat, his medal of honor, and dated Linda Ronstad....heroism and sensible moderation STILL plays well...even in a Red State..like Nebraska!
Pat.. as stated before Bob Kerrey DID NOT date Linda Ronstadt, it was our illustrious governor in California, Jerry Brown.
You'd be surprised, Steven. He was pretty popular here. He dated Debra Winger, not Linda Ronstadt.
This is awsome. I sure as hell hope he wins. This is just what this country needs at this point in time. Go Bob Kerry in Nebraska! Once we take the Presidency again, and get control of the senate and house, then we will put this country right again! Look at what Clinton had to work with--when he left there was a 5 trillion dollar surpluss! Shortly after that idiot baffoon Bush was elected, it dissappeared into thin air. Once again the Democrats have to step up and right the wrongs of the morons. Oops, i meant to say retardlicants! OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!!!!!!!
Well Dfrom, you know what they say. If you are not a dem at age 25, you have no heart. If you are not a republican at age 45, you have no brain. After watching the OWS clowns I find that to be right on target. Oh, course, your idiot BHO said that Bush was unamerican when he raised the debt to 2 trillion over 8 yrs, His words. Now, he has some explaining to do since he raised it 5 trillion in 3 yrs. This Chicago clown has to go.
I hope the people of nebraska know and I say this as a conservative democrat ( one of the few left). A vote for the democrat is a vote for Obama. If you would not want him to be president you should not vote for a dem.
Nelson stood with that negro instead of nebraska and so will kerrey.
I hope west virginia will get the idea about manchin.
Negro?
Really???
How much did it hurt not to type n*gger?
I take it, angry, that you will not be voting for "that negro" because apparently one is either for "that negro" or for Nebraska. Can't be both.
Wow, can't believe in this day and age....angry, wrong moniker, should start with "stupid".
feisty -- for maybe the first time we agree, i find angry's comments to be just as offensive. and regardless of his later apology (after he was exposed) Harry Reid's observation of a few years ago is also offensive:
The authors quote Reid as saying privately that Obama, as a black candidate, could be successful thanks, in part, to his "light-skinned" appearance and speaking patterns "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."
Got new for you angryamerican55, but President Obama is not a "negro". The last time I looked he is what would be called Mulattto since he is 1/2 white and 1/2 "negro".
James,
It's a shame, we could of agreed until you had to drag out 5 year old anonymous comments.
Sometimes, less it more...
Fisty doesn't like facts that don't agree with her philosophy. Every time someone calls her out, she tends to dismiss it as old news, EXCEPT when it refers to the GOP. Then it is ripe for the picking.
Congrats!
You are member #34 of @!$%#s named Bob, in the Feisty Redhead Fan Club!
Sorry, we have NO booby prizes for ya!
feisty -- sorry, i expected that as a well-informed political junkie you would have remembered harry's apology about the quote from a book published in January 2010 (about 2 years ago and not the 5 you asserted). this should help you.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid apologized Saturday for making racially insensitive remarks about Barack Obama during the presidential campaign.
Journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann reported the remarks in their new book, "Game Change," which is scheduled to be in bookstores Tuesday.
here is the link so you can see the entire story.
don't know what happened to the link but it was at cnn.com
How does where you live matter? Any experience you gain is still colored by where you came from and what your values were. So, living in NY may have given him added perspective, but he was still viewing it from his Nebraska self. It does change a person, but that doesn't mean it obliterates who they were or change them for the worse. Heck, most senators don't really live in their state, they're gone so much!
I grew up on a farm. I farmed with my father. I have lived in the largest city in the state for 19 years and haven't done a shred of farming for over 10 years. I love the city, the opportunities here. BUT I am and always will be a farmer and even though I can no longer do that, I still have a love of the land. My surroundings have changed and I have learned new things, but my values are the same I had as a rural farmer.
Didn't this guy lead a cult into mass suicide in CA back in the 90's?
Just another pathological lying politician with his finger in the air talking about truth and honesty. No thanks.
toughluv.....He's a Medal of Honor winner, Governor, Senator, Vietnam vet.. already swift boating him, yet another rightwingnut chickenhawk!
Hate to tell all you left wing liberal fruitcakes in here he won't win, he is really disliked in Nebraska for running off to NY.
cliff 567164 You go where the work is jackass. He's not the first to leave his home state to work elsewhere. That is really a dumb reason not to like him, Nebraska is not exactly a teeming metropolis full of job opportunities.
Heaven forbid someone goes off to head a very prestigious school...I mean, he must be one of those darn intellectual types...which is bad in Nebraska???....
Dan Coates (R) hadn't lived in Indiana for over a decade, too busy living back east making tons of money as a lobbiest, yet he won his Senate seat back and never had to move back to Indiana to do it. Sen. Lugar (R), also hasn't lived in IN either, has a home in VA...
The article states "Though Kerrey mentions his "commitment" to Nebraska, Republicans will surely note that Kerrey, for the past decade, has lived in New York City, where he was president of The New School."
Regardless of party the above doesn't matter after all did not George W. spend a considerable time away from Texas.
I think the poet George eliot put it best" "A human life, I think, should be well rooted in some spot of native land, where it may get the love of tender kinship."
Mr. Kerrey is now and always will be a Nebraskan.
So did Sen. Dan Coates (R-IN), been living near the Beltway for over a decade making big bucks at a lobbying firm....He never had to even move back to Indiana to win back his Senate seat. Sen. Lugar (R-IN) doesn't live here either, his home is in VA.
Politicians won't leave office exept in a box!! They can steal and accumlate to much wealth for themselves.
OMG .... John Kerry, Barry Obama, Al Gore, Joe Biden ... it's like the list of America's greatest pitchmen. They should all be selling siding to the Sears and Walmart crowd!!
Dumb,Ditto Head.....Kerry,a Navy Seal Medal of Honor soldier and all you can do is be little him...Sick!Something is terrible wrong with some people.
Bill, the Republicans have a LONG history of belittling and insulted wounded war vets and Bob Kerrey was one of them, as was John Kerry, Mccain, Cleland and a few more! This is typical for them!
Agree....I remember with great sorrow how the republicans took Cleveland over the coals..Here's a guy who lost both legs defending America and the Ditto Heads trashed him
As a native Nebraskan, I know very well how loved Bob Kerrey was, and I have no doubt that his living in a different state will not affect their decision. Bob did what he felt was right for the state, and was not doing things for selfish reasons. There was a good reason why he was elected to two terms as a senator, and was an excellent governor. So for any Republican to take shots at him, enjoy it while you can until he gets elected. The issue isn't "if" he gets elected, but "when". This is a no brainer. Nobody in their right mind is wanting someone to support a Republican agenda of Fascism or a Totalitarian rule which takes away the freedom of Americans.
"Republican agenda of Fascism and Totalitarian rule?" I think you had better be looking at what is going on in the here and now, my friend.
Small omission/oversight by the author (Surely inadvertent). Former Senator is a true-blue, highly decorated American hero (unlike the overwhelming majority of the other parasites in th Congress). He is a living recipient of the Medal of Honor. If Nebraskans don't vote for him they're fools. I wish we had someone like him in Texas to vote for!

Kerry will never win a Senate seat in Nebraska. This will be a bad time for any Democrat seeking election or re-election.
Watch as these incumbent Dems try to distance themselves from Obama. Guilt by association.
Have you seen the 59% DISAPPROVAL rating for the GOP??
Tom,
That isn't the case in Nebraska. We will most likely have all three Congressional Seats filled by Republicans and have both Senate Seats filled by Republicans as well. Bob Kerry is a very good person, but he is much, much too liberal for Nebraska these days. I'm sorry that he has chosen to end his political career in Nebraska with a loss.
Let's hope Bob Kerry wins! He seemed like a good governor and at the very least, he's a certified American hero and unlike these Repug posers who drape themselves in the flag and cry crocodile tears over their self proclaimed and smug patriotism, he actually fought and bled for his country and won the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions in Vietnam. So Joeblow, take heed about this little bit of information and shut the f--k up when you talk about your betters. I'm sick and tired of listening to your racists rants about good and decent Americans. If you like Romney so much maybe you could provide some service to him by forming a circle jerk with others of like ilk and share your wet dreams about Mitt.
What a great idea!! Bob Kerrey was a very well respected Senator from Nebraska and will easily be the best Senator! Maybe we chalk up yet another Senate seat for the DEMs.
You'll also see Senator Scott Brown,Ma,defeated by Liz Warren.....
Dream on, Bill.
Scott Brown is a great Senator and is up in the polls, while Lizzie Warren is an out of touch rich snotty Harvard professor without a personality.
Bobby, there you go again denigrating women. Liz Warren is not rich, are you making that assumption because she is a Harvard Professor? If you knew anything about her, you'd never write something so absurd. You seem to have a problem with women and smart women seem to really set your hair on fire.
Scott Brown, is very much in danger of losing his seat to someone who is far more intelligent than he ever thought he could be.
How dare that woman be a Harvard professor. We need more women like the repubs put up for president or vice president.
Bob admit it, you really like Scott Brown because of those underwear ads don't you? By the way are you sure it's his "poll" that's up?
