Rick Santorum said he regretted saying he wanted to "throw up" as a result of late President John F. Kennedy's speech about separation of church and state.
He told conservative talk-radio host Laura Ingraham, per The Hill: "I wish I had that particular line back."
*** UPDATE *** Per NBC's Sarah Blackwill, here's the audio, per ThinkProgress:
He went on to say:
"…if you read President Kennedy’s text, while there were certainly some very important things and good things he said in that, there were some things that triggered in my opinion the privatization of faith and I think that’s a bad thing. I think we need to have a free exercise of religion in this country and it’s important for those First Amendment freedoms to be alive and well in America and I think they are threatened here in America as we’ve seen by President Obama, not by Rick Santorum."

What is it with these morons?
They freely toss the red meat out there, then cry it was meant to be chicken!!
One more time little Ricky, you cannot stuff the genie back in the bottle!
I want to puke everytime I think about this religious fanatic anywhere near the Oval Office!
Great non-apology by Santorum---he wishes he "had the line back"---i.e. not sorry that he thinks that way, just sorry that he said it. Sorry, Rick---can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.
I'm sure he wishes he could take back a lot of what he says - right after he says it. This clown gets worse and worse every day. But, are we really surprised?
@Streelerfan
Sorry, Rick---can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.
Yes, it is possible. All you have to do is suck. Rick Santorum seems to be pretty good at that.
Talk about losers. The GOP Clown Patrol just can't help themselves. Looks like none of these guys want to win...
So Ricky, do you have any comments on the speeches of other martyrs? Tell us how much you need the Rolaids every time you hear the Gettysburg address? Does King's "I Have a Dream" speech leave you queasy? Rick, this says quite a bit about the character you lack to hold the job in the Oval Office. Between you and Romney strapping his dog to the roof, any reasonable person would see that republicans have nothing in 2012!
You might say this is one time he wish he had learned to swallow in response to that 'gag reflex'.
I've been a bit too busy to comment on FR much lately, but let me just say I REALLY HOPE RICK SANTORUM WINS THE REPUBLICAN NOMINATION.
He won't, it will be Romney, it was always going to be Romney. But a man can dream.
Most people walk back after they throw up. The mess is still there. I don't think anyone will forget this statement, and only a Republican could vote for him after every thing he's said since he won his hat trick and decided to speak his real mind.
Sorry, Ricky. Something tells me we're going to be hearing that particular sound bite (along with you saying "I wish I had that line back") a lot in coming weeks.
Obama 2012
Ricky seems to confuse freedom of religion with freedom to stuff his religion down our throats. Sorry, Ricky, you don't get to do that. If you think that's oppression, that's just one more reason you're not qualified for the White House. Oh, yeah, one more thing. If you think aspiring for a higher education is snobbery, then you are also too ignorant to be allowed into the White House.
And this is the best the Republicans have to offer??? This will be 2 presidential elections in a row the Republicans conceded to the Democrats.
Sticky Ricky, from sweaty, fascist ranting and, apparently, puking over the reasons this country was founded...(for those who also don't know it was so that no church could take over the state like the Church of England and the Vatican.....that's why the 1st amendment says the government won't establish any religion over another, nor interfere with people's ability to worship...that's it). That's what Kennedy was referring to, that's what Americans have been saying for over 200 years. But in Sticky's world, we know up is down, black is bla, and getting educated is stupid.....
How's that old saying go?..........................
" Be sure your brain is engaged before putting your mouth in gear"
Or something along those lines. Too bad more people like Santorum don't practice this.
All the more reason to hope Sanatorium (yes, deliberate misspelling for obvious reasons) wins, so President Obama can cream him in the general election!
Wayne----Santorum needs 2 Tylenol to listen to FDR say "we have nothing to fear but fear itself."
If Santorum keeps having to walk back lines, I am going to buy him a little rear view mirror so he won't keep stumbling backwards.
So Rick regrets saying something that provided a glimpse into his dark, hateful character? Trust me, normal Americans hated hearing it. I guess he just can't hide his evil side...
SF - do you think he has the sense to swallow them vs. putting them between his wife's knees.
Katheryn, don't forget the little warning "beep beep" sound for when he is backing up!
"I wish I had that particular line back." Not "I was wrong" ... not "I'm sorry" ... not "I shouldn't have said anything so insensitive". Why not just be honest and say "I'm sorry that I said that aloud".
Simply lame. This is a moron that had the opportunity to beat Mitt to the nomination rather decided to show off his stupidity. You sure running for the wrong office.
Rick throws up a little in his mouth then swallows. Mittwit has no idea what he's doing. Oh happy days. President Obama in a near landslide.
Could you guys do me a favor and use 'Santorum' instead of 'Rick'. Half the time I can't tell if you guys are talking about Santorum or Perry, not there is much difference.
That's okay, Ricky. You're not in any danger of being elected, anyway.
The hits just keep on coming . . .
Last week Santorum infuriated the entire nation of Holland - no small feat, by the way - by accusing them of state-sanctioned murder of the Dutch elderly. Now, he manages to piss, excuse me, puke all over the memory of one of the most beloved leaders in American history. I shudder to think what he'll say for an encore.
I'm confused. Santorum was 2-years-old when JFK made that speech. Did he really say that he understood it and disagreed with it?
I fully believe that Santorum may have vomited when the speech was made. But, not because of his intellectual disagreement with the speech. More likely it was because his mother forgot to burp him after she fed him his bottle!
So which is it, Rick? Did you really feel like throwing up and wish you hadn't said so, or were you making it up for a cheap applause line with a bunch of right-wing crazies?
This IS it -- Everything people need to know about religious radical Teabaggers in a nutshell!
First is taking something completely out of context and restating it in a completely twisted way. It is hoped that people WILL listen to JFK's speech, and hear for themselves the correct interpretation of the First Amendment regarding Separation of Church and State, the thoughtful views on religious belief being personal and even sacred, and that as POTUS JFK said he is an American FIRST and a Catholic second.
But NO, fundamentalist F#@%$ like Santorum have a persecution complex from repeated regurgitation (if ya wanna talk about "throw up") within the "isn't that special" Echo Chamber they live in with false claims about religion being excluded from the "public square" (LIE) and not having "freedom" (LIE). It never occurs to these imbeciles that forcing their religious views on others is the real loss of freedom. All they have to do is go to Iran or Afghanistan to see how truly free we are here in the USA, both to believe as we choose or not forced to believe anything we don't choose.
What these religious zealots like Santorum are upset about is not having Christian prayer and courses on creationism in public (tax-paid) schools, the Ten Commandments posted in public (tax-paid) buildings from schools to courthouses (though only three commandments have anything to do with secular law), and most of all their real belief that only Christians should rule the country. Use of this victim card as a guise for theocracy is old, unacceptable, and needs to be ended now!
This is just the tip of the iceberg for religious radicals like Santorum. Once again, taking President Obama's speech out of context, Santorum ranted about how higher learning is bad because it is a way for "liberal" professors to indoctrinate our youth. OMG! Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney both pander to the crazies with this crap even though they both have college degrees as well as graduate degrees. Aside from the US already falling behind the rest of the world in education needed to compete in the global economy, what parent doesn't want their children to have higher learning?!
This is not just crazy Rick Santorum, but many of your neighbors (especially if you live in a red state). Everything Santorum spews, I have been hearing all my life from fundamentalist Teabagger family and friends -- they believe this crap! Be scared--be very scared of this far-right fringe!
Ricky IS a steaming pile of vomit.
Yes, we know what Mr. Santorum wants. He wants the freedom to force his religion on anybody and everybody. He wants prayer in schools. Prayer before public meetings. He want's bible-based laws and statutes. All you non-believing Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, can just go stand in the corner and lump it if you don't like it. In other words, he wants what the Taliban had in Afghanistan and what the Mullahs have in Iran. He wants an American theocracy. He wants an American Taliban.
Sorry Mr. Santorum, but that's unconstitutional. It's illegal and it's un-American.
Everybody know what you meant. Everybody knows what you want. You are anti-gay, anti-woman and anti-American. And you're the best the GOP can come up with. Sad, what the party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Ike Eisehower has come to. Even Reagan would hang his head in shame.
Obama/Biden 2012
No rick! you CANNOT back peddle on this . you meant exactly what you originally said because that is the type of antiamericantaliban creep you are and represent! You can't unhear a speach buddy. you said it, you meant it ,it's yours!!!
Just last week I heard Santorum saying something about how he didn't use a teleprompter and because of it, you got the real truth from him. Yep, that is exactly what we got.
Every time Ricky utters another one of his hate-filled lines the country should want to puke.
You fear the religous right as if they are going to force you to do something reprehensible, life threatening, causative of bodily harm....you cite prayer...when do prayers hurt anyone? At the very least, it is so many ritualized words and sayings, and by that definition, what is there to fear. I fear a government that will throw human lives away and expect me to be all right with it. We are being prepared for that reality in inches and increments, desensitized with things like "end of life counseling" instead of "we are pulling the plug on grandma"...whichever phrase you choose, the government through the healthcare bill has already given themselves the authority to determine who lives and dies by simply denying medical coverage over a certain age of for certain conditions (and if we even allow that small crack, it will widen over time to take in a much wider definition) Without even defining at what point life begins, or when a child is actually a child and a US citizen, the government has put in place the "right to terminate a pregnancy, abortion....(how far is it from mandatory screenings for genetic problems or birth defects to be accompanied by "counseling" to end the pregnancy and try again?) Religion, for those who are not believers, should have no problem to hurt you in any way....you don't believe in the repurcussions for failing to live up to the ideals....as for bible based laws...pretty much all the laws throughout the world have a nodding acquaintance with the ten commandments. I think it is all pretty much universally accepted that stealing from one another is bad, and that killing one another is bad, and profanity and vulgarity are not neccessarily good things. We have laws on the books to protect us from libel and slander which is kind of covered in the 8th commandment, and messing around with somebody else's spouse is not a great idea on a whole bunch of levels, let alone strict morality...so how is that such a negative and scary thing. It is the same set of guidelines that civilized society has agreed to down through the millenium regardless of which doctrine or faith...pretty darn similar stuff. What I don't get, is that when somebody stands up for the time honored and tested rules of conduct for people in a civilized society, they suddenly, by definition, must be religious right wing zealots instead of people who would like that all of us can go through life without having undue worry for the safety of ourselves, our family, our personal belongings, our good name....you won't accomplish that safety without some pretty basic and generally agreed upon rules.
Maybe Rick you mean to say a woman can be "a little bit pregnant"?...geez...for a guy who dislikes people who seek higer education and has 3 friggin degrees he is pretty dumb...book smart maybe....common sense NOT!
Sue,
Your argument is flawed. For instance, take the First Commandment. "I am the Lord your God. You shall not place other gods before me." As a Catholic, I have no problem accepting this commandment. But, what about people who are Hindu? I believe it is wrong to force this commandment on them. Apparently, you have no problem forcing this "rule" on non-Christians.
The privatization of religion? Really Rick?
What in the living hell is ol' Frothy talking about?
I have to wonder if Santorum is working for the Obama campaign, or the DNC. Unless he is completely insane, the only rational reason for his comments is to discredit the Republican party. This kind of talk goes beyond this election, he is destroying everything the Republican brand ever stood for. Or maybe he is delusional. It is a bit scary when Ron Paul appears to be the only sane candidate on the Republican stage. And Mitt needs to stop trying to be a regular guy; he isn't
Waitaminit... Isn't Santorum supposed to be Roman Catholic? Wasn't JFK Roman Catholic?
The one thing I would want to ask Santorum in a public forum, is:
"On the vanishingly small chance that you might get elected President, what would you do about all the Roman Catholic Priests, Monsignors, and Bishops who have molested children over the years?"
I'd love to see what he has to say about that...
Ha!
Sue:
Prayers don't physically hurt anyone, but when you are forced to participate or at the very least as a child compelled to participate in a public school...that is unconstitutional and psychologically harmful.
Your comment on the Affordable Health Care Act is incredibly ignorant. "End of life counseling" advises a person of their choices such as living will, "do not resuscitate" orders (decided by the patient in advance...NOT the state). I won't even address the "death panels" as they were debunked over 2 years ago.
As to " pretty much all the laws throughout the world have a nodding acquaintance with the ten commandments" comment; the 10 commandments have a little more than nodding acquaintance the Code of Hammurabi (Babylonian (secular) Law). In fact, remove the 1st commandment, the other 9 are all there.
When the law is dictated by your religious doctrine and you attempt to force it down my throat then yes, by definition you are a right wing religious zealot!
Santorum, no doubt, has an answer for that, sounding just as stupid.
Let's TRY to remember that not all Priests are molesters, not all Democrats are Hippies, and not all Republicans are lost like Santorum. However, there are those who just make us wonder......
The only smart thing Santorum did in these past few days is make this half-assed apology for his JFK comments. And yeah, it is still hard to forget. Neanderthalls put all past Presidents of their opposing party in the category of 'bad.' Same people who haven't grown up from playing 6 year old cops and robbers.
Santorum makes me want to vomit - and I won't be walking that statement back!
There's always been a free exercise of religion in this country, bub... just not in the government. In other words, until you! After all the history of Europe, the writers of the Constitution in our new country must have known there'd be people like you and your convolutions, so they included a seperation of governing the people from the churches having a say in that governing.
And, what the heck is 'the privatization of faith'? How ever you slick up the mumbo jumbo to make it palatable, you can not rewrite the Constitution or the First Amendment no matter how the Moral Majority tried to con people with that black lie.
Steve-2352647 -- The "crazies" have always been a part of the GOP tent (including Ron Paul who also believes contraception is bad). It's just been kept in check until now.
Fundamentalism Gone Wild is due in part to the right-wing propaganda machine of FOX Noise and Hate Radio, and commentators like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, etc. replacing William F. Buckley and other right-wing journalists who once used Rule of Reason. The right-wing radicalism has gone into overreach as well due to the Tea Party threatening to "primary" more moderate (i.e., sane) candidates in the Republican Party.
Interesting is how candidates are going to start being "primaried" from the center, and even the Left. For example, any politician who votes to force women to have medically-unnecessary ultrasounds or for "personhood" legislation will be campaigned against by women's groups. High time! People should not fear their government -- government should fear the people. All people, the mainstream -- not just fringe Teabaggers. We need more groups to track the right-wing politicians votes for these extreme bills, and then advertise it before elections.
But do not think the election is guaranteed for President Obama. The radical right-wing will turn out to vote, regardless of how crappy their candidates are. If people want to be safe from Santorum and his ilk, they must get out and vote to re-elect the president, and to give him a congress that will work together and work with him. Obama/Biden - 2012!
Thanks for responding to Sue, Old Doc and Marty...saved me a bit of typing. Tis sad that zealots cannot see the forest for the trees and I'm sure the Sue's of the world will never change their feelings. Thankfully we have a constitution and Supreme Court rulings to protect us from Santorum and other zealot's feelings.
Ol_Doc, I caught that, too.
Here's what Rick said, "[T]here were some things that triggered in my opinion the privatization of faith and I think that’s a bad thing."
What the heck did Santorum mean by "privatization of faith", and whatever it might mean, why is it a bad thing? Does Santorum mean it would be a good thing if the public embraced his version of religion rather than their own private beliefs?
I think privatization of faith is exactly what freedom of religion means, and Santorum is agin it.
The sign of a real liar. Says horrendous, deplorable statements every 5 minutes and only wishes he could take back the ones that cause the biggest uproar.
It sure ain't "freedom."
Let's drill down and examine Santorum's statement on education. Higher learning is bad because "liberal" professors indoctrinate the students VERSUS home schooling, private parochial schools, or tax-paid vouchers for Christians to send their children to private schools that teach creationism (NOT going to happen). And please explain Sue and other Santorum-supporters which is indoctrinating kids?
It's religion that brain-washes children from the day they are born, with anti-intellectualism, treaching against science (evolution, climate change, etc.) and anything contrary to a narrow interpretation of the Bible. It's the Flat Earth Society all over again -- Not just going backward to the 1950s, but back to the Dark Ages. How many times must the Church attack progress, knowledge for the masses, and enlightenment? It's the 21st Century, and still we must be subjected to this insidious mentality -- Enough!
GreenTimer -- For the right-wing, the opposite of privatization is socialism. So I take this to mean that Santorum wants religion embraced by the state, in other words theocracy. What the far-right really want is Big Government in reverse. All entitlements, trust funds, and programs for the middle class and poor--including public education, should be privatized. Santorum's Evangelical Catholicism on the other hand should be "socialized."
He feels he can constantly talk about his religion as if it matters. The fact that Obama wanted churches health coverage to cover birth control and abortions was an attack on his freedom of religion when in fact by not giving these women the same coverage as other women is a religious overreach . There are women of all faith who have opted for abortion and have used birth control. I'm a Catholic, but I know I'm the only one who has to pay for my sins, besides Jesus. To a lot of people these things aren't sins and most importantly it doesn't matter if they are or not because we have the freedom of religion, not the freedom to force our religion on others. Men have it easy, we have absolutely no idea what it's like to bear children, and no right to dictate what women do with their bodies and their lives.
Sue-
I work in healthcare and have had the privilege of being present when someone with a terminal non-survivable disease/injury has passed on. First let me clarify some things you have all wrong. If a hospital takes medicare/medicade they CAN NOT turn anyone away. Most hospital systems are non-profit and donate millions of dollars each year in written off hospital bills for people that can't afford it. There has never been a time in my career when family members or closest friends did not make the decision to withdraw care based on what they knew of their loved one's wishes. The state has never tried to intervene nor should they. End of life counseling is nothing more than getting YOUR wishes on a legal document when it comes to what measures you would have taken if you are unable to make decisions for yourself. So if YOU choose to let modern medicine flog you and keep you alive to the painful bitter end then we are happy to oblige. Modern medicine can keep a shell of a body alive for a long long time with the use of feeding tubes, ventilators and medication, but that does not mean we should. Now let's not forget Republicon Ricky's party would just outright deny healthcare to those who can't afford it. Find me some Jesus in that??? I have an idea live and let live. DOn't shove your fairy tale down my throat and we will continue to let you believe what you want and praying to who ever tickles your fancy.
So Santorum thinks the "privatization of faith" is a bad thing? Well unless your Tim Tebow it's a great thing! What's more private than your faith and religious convictions. People who wear their religious beliefs on their sleeves are asking for conflict and judgement. Santorum has a better chance of walking to Hawaii than he does of becoming President. He will absolutely not even get the nomination so he's just flapping his gums.
With 33 states considering voter ID legislation, it will take more than getting out and voting. It will take a consentrated effort of getting out and helping people to get the ID necessary to vote. As most of those being affected by this 'witch hunt' are most likely liberal or lean toward the Democratic party, the loss of votes could have impact. Time to call local party offices to find out how to help. And if there are Republican neighbors that have been disenfranchised by this silliness, well, help them too. Many older voters were born at home, or have no birth certificate, so have no idea how to go about getting one, or can't get to the local DMV for a ID card. And because there is a cost for ID, money will affect their options too.
The worst part (beside the intent of these legislative bills) is because there's been little coverage by the media, voters could actually turn up to vote in Nov and then be turned away.
faith. the only thing republicans dont think should left to the private sector. lol.
It takes a gigantically huge effort to make Mitt Romney the candidate against Barack Obama. And Rick Santorum found a way to do exactely that.
Makes me sick to look at him, but because of his millionaire backers we'll continue to have to put up with it. He has absolutely nothing to offers but this hateful rhetoric. All the while going on that he is so religious. How can anyone defend this hypocritical POS? Santorum's popularity really demonstrates how weak Romney is as a presidential candidate. Where's my barf bag?
I would like to see this guy taking that back figuratively speaking of course. But man-o-man the image is not one that will leave you any time soon!
The GOP front runner" vomit eating man frothing from behind to the win!" Now that's a sound bite for November.
Santorium's plan: say something stupid backtrack, Say something stupid try to explain what you meant, say something stupid say that what you said isn't what you meant, say something stupid deny, Say something stupid accuse the media of being a liberal dupe(never mind it's on tape), the sweater-vest isn't the only out of touch lame thing about this crooked demagogue.
I wish I had that particular line back."
Would you like some Parmesan on it? You are eating back what you threw up...
Bon Appetit!
So gross...but so funny!!!!
A sorry excuse for a presidential candidate of any party. I hope he wins the nomination, the GOP deserves him!
Obama/Biden 2012
Too bad little Ricky - you already exposed yourself and there isn't a diaper big enough to cover up your little accident. Face it, you came out on national TV propagating a State/Union run by theology. You can't backup once you've fallen off the cliff. Say buh-bye to your presidential
aspirinsaspirations.Too late, Rick. The toothpaste's out of the tube or in this case, the "up-chuck" is all over you.
Naw, he really meant it.
what a looser, big time.
More evidence for my theory Rick Santorum is an evolved version of Sarah Palin. It's the kind of stupid remark she would have made, except she'd never have walked it back.
I think the Koch Brothers are experimenting in their lab to produce an ever smoother conservative candidate. When they're finished we will be in big trouble.
Each candidate seems to be more 'Franken-stinian' than the last model. Pitiful-Palin; Batty-Bachmann; Icky-Ricky. Proof positive you really shouldn't mess with Mother Nature.
They have ended up creating a creature with two heads and not one brain between them.
Amy - I'm not sure I'd call him an "evolved version of Palin." Methinks they are just the same!
Amy---I think they have Marco Rubio in mind as the next version.
I think the Koch Brothers are experimenting in their lab to produce an ever smoother conservative candidate.
It's pretty hard to be smooth about destroying our 'bloated' secular government so they can replace it with an autocratic theocracy...
Then again the devil is a very gifted deceiver isn't he?
Amy B.,
Don't you mean a Devolved version of Palin?
Just have to say that I was starting to get really frightened that too many sheeple were buying into the lies the GOP candidates have been spewing (pun intended!). After reading the responses to this article, I'm feeling a lot more secure in the decency and intelligence of Americans if these comments are truly representative of the majority. I'm so dreading the rest of this political season and what other garbage is going to be attempted to be forced down our throats. Please, please, please... research the candidates, what they stand for and what they want to attempt to get done should they be elected. As for me, I'll be voting for Obama again (as will my husband, a registered republican)... as far as I'm concerned he's done an excellent job considering all the roadblocks that have been put up to make it incredibly difficult for me to do a thing! Mitt, Ricky, Ron and Newt all need to disappear as soon as possible. Btw, I was raised Catholic and the hate, prejudice and elitism Ricky spews has NOTHING to do with what Christ taught!!!
The kock brothers aren't exerimenting on the candidates per say as much as they are on the public. Pretty soon in order to get one of these guys in without cheating, they'll have to make lobotomy mandatory.
Ahhhh, so the poor little moron Ricky is a flip flopper too!!! Wonderful
when a complete puke is taken back it's twice as yucky
The President went over the edge today in front of the crooked union UAW he bailed out with taxpayer dollars.
He ad libbed that he will buy the lemon known as the Chevy Volt when he leaves office. The Secret Service wont let him buy one...(because the battery may explode?)
So...the GOP will buy it for him in Jan 2013, when he leaves...
But will the 1% millionaire Obama, take a $10,000 rebate paid for by the "99%" taxpayers, to subsidize millionaires buying the failed Volt ?
The Chevy Volt and Obama...they belong together...both failures that wont sell in 2012, no matter how much taxpayer money is spent...
And this has exactly WHAT to do with the topic at hand? Rick Santorum's mouth?
Can we get the source for your quote?
I will put this as delicately as I can - YOU ARE A CERTIFIED IDIOT!
Tell us Boob - what are you going to do when President Obama is re-elected in quite possibly a landslide?
You might want to think about moving to Costa Rica along with your buddy Rush Limpballs!
Really????
This is the kind of drivel you get when 'state rape' advocates start fantasizing about vaginal probes and electroshock therapy.
There you go, Bob, getting all patriotic. Might it be a good idea to support American ingenuity, considering electric cars are the wave of the future and global warming is real?
Feisty I'll answer we will ALL go broke! Except, Obama,The kochs,Sorsos,Buffet, Bush, you know the liars! It's ok we (Americans) will continue to follow one side or the other of the liars. There will always be people to blindly defend each side and call the other side names. See ya at the poor house, I'm buying the first round!
Beth, Fiesty,
Just look at his name and icon. Gov Bob McDonald from Virginia? That says everything it needs to about this blogger.
Free transvaginals for everyone in America, men included!
OMG did I just say that? Pills must not be working today. LOL
Red & Okeeboy,
I think old Boob could use a nice hard prostate exam with a vaginal probe to get the full effect of what women go though...
What say you?
The number of responses shows how you moonbats are a bit nervous about Obama's ad lib...
That is not the last you will hear about the two subsidized lemons who wont sell, Obama and the Volt.
Obama is quite a gaffe machine...when he goes off script, he steps in it.
You have to be careful with that. Bob may never leave the doctors office after the first one. Of course, that would be an upside to those of us on this site.
Why does 'thank you doctor, may I have another' come to mind..?
Ah - just as I thought - Bob spun the story while fantasizing about 'state rape'. Per the article, he will buy the Volt when his presidency is over and the Secret Service allows him to drive. The only thing lemony is the sourpuss poster.
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2012/02/obama-pledges--to-buy-a-chevy-volt/1#.T01C5ocgd8E
So Bob,
Do you have a link to source information to back up your "ad-lib" claim?
What? FOX didn't provide one???
Just like a virginia republican to take an element of truth and turn it into a lie. Tax payers LOANED money to the auto companies and only after unions made hefty concessions in pensions, wages and job security. Furthermore, Obama said the secret service wouldn't let him DRIVE the Volt as in off the lot and out of their security zone.
Kaine 2012.
tag in Virginia
Or more appropriately, Brad/Janet singing to Dr. Frank-N-Furter, "Ta-ta-ta-touch me, I wanna feel..."
Feisty,
Only if I can administer it to him.
My eyes are not so good these days. Would hate to get a probe mixed up with a baseball bat. LOL
Just kidding. I would love to get them mixed up.
LMAO!
I'll wrestle you for it... ;o)
Bob.....you have to pay attention, the Pres, said I like the Volt and would enjoy driving it except the Secret Service wont let me. But when I leave the office in 5 1/2 years, I will buy one then to drive, I like them.
Hey Bob, I know you're just trying to deflect the conversation from the topic but remember we're playing baseball and not goofball. If you don't know how to bat, go sit on the bench.
Okeeboy, I was thinking a pineapple would work well.
I AM SOOOOO SICK OF THE 'NON-APOLOGY' APOLOGY. I am also getting very tired of the "what I really meant to say was..." bullsh!t that they keep repeating after they make an outrageous statement.
What you meant to say is EXACTLY what you said!!! You just didnt expect there to be someone in the audience with any brain matter to understand that what you said was really bigotted/racist/stupid/hypocritical ...!! or that you would be called out on it! Really--and there are people in this country that will actually vote for this type of "individual" as president.
Scares the BEGEEZUS out of me!!!!
As "non-apology apologies" go, this one's a classic - if you listen to the clip above, he's actually laughing as he expresses his fake regret. And given that it was Laura Ingraham's talk show, he knew exactly who his audience was, too.
When he calls Caroline Kennedy to apologize in person, maybe I'll believe he's actually sorry.
Or not.....
JoAnne---Caroline is too much of a lady, but if he would ever call, I'd hope she wouldn't take the call.
Bethany----who do these people think they are fooling with the "non-apologies". They might as well take pictures of them *winking*.
But he is just talking about freedom. Freedom to hate women, gays, minorities, teachers, union workers, the educated or those who want one......Mormons, immigrants, Hollywood....moderates, liberals, non christians...
Hey, Steeler Fan -
You know, speaking of apologies, I've decided it's time that you and I officially stop apologizing for inflicting Rick Santorum on the rest of the world. We're the ones who kicked him out of the Senate in the first place, and I'm sure as hell not sorry for that. The people who are actually out there voting for him today are the ones who should be apologizing for their actions - though I somehow doubt they're very sorry either.
By the way, where's Mitt Romney's response to this? "Hey, I would never insult dead presidents. I love dead presidents. Dead presidents are the right height. In fact, I've got a whole stack of dead presidents right here in my wallet!"
Rick, I want to throw up every time you open your mouth. Now we all know why the people of PA tossed you out of the Senate.
JoAnne--I think you're right---we should boldly declare the statute of limitations on apologizing for Santorum by Pennsylvanians to have run out and we are off the hook. Plus he now lives in Virginia so he is their problem! I looked up the map of his defeat in 2006 and it reminded me of the classic line by James Carville---Pennsylvania---you have Pittsburgh at one end, Philadelphia at the other and Alabama in between!
I suspect Mitt doesn't actually carry a wallet--he has staff for that (except on the days when he does his own laundry).

Im just waiting for Mr Santorum to tell the american people that not only does he believe that the devil exists but that the devil made him say what he did, then made him peddal backwards
There are days when I truly am afraid to come out from under the covers!!! Yesterday, here in Michigan was one of them. There were crazies out in full force -- spewing their hate and faith at anyone who they suspected was a DEM/Individual allowed to vote!! I can attest that I did not vote yesterday - although I was tempted to vote for Ron Paul (just pulling a '92 Romney there hehehe). But - I just could not find it in my soul to actually have to put on paper somewhere that I was a TeaPublican even if only for a day!!!!
You have to wonder. How does someone so racist and homophobic and religiously fanatical get as far as this in the political process? Has the general level of intelligence fallen that far in this country?
It has on the pugbag side, too much, way too much of Murdock's fake noise.
gem... YES!
And Gem, if Ricky has anything to do with it, there'll be plenty more uneducated people of excrutiatingly low intelligence levels too! Only snobs want to learn trades or get an education and try to better themselves! Honestly!
Yes, I am afraid so that people like Santorum exist - homophobic and saying that the separation of Church and State isn't "absolute." Where in God's name (pun intended) did this guy come from? One good thing might come out of his nominiation, if he makes it, the Democrats will slaughter the GOP in November. Hooray!
This guy (like Romney) is supposed to be a man of God. Apparently, he's never heard of the Ten Commandments. I hope his pastor's confessional has an all night drive-thu just for his convenience.
He just sends an aide to confess for him.
Can't walk it back, Rick. Sorry. In my book anyone who does not believe in separation of church and state and promoting the general welfare (like public education) simply does not believe in America. Period. End of story...end of candidate.
Yeah the government of Iran doesn't believe in separation of church and state either.
I wanted to throw up when I heard him. Such baldface twisting of the truth. These people don't think before they speak. What the hell would happen if he was in the White House?
The tour guides would call security when he refuses to leave.
What Santorum has proved is that he's not just a theocratic moron, he's a theocratic moron with a reading comprehension problem. What JFK said in his speech is 100% correct. What Santorum understood from that speech is totally off-base.
My only hope is that Santorum's children will eventually recover from the home "schooling" they've received.
Rick, "free" exercise must be FREE. That is, it has to be free from governmental restriction AND governmental support. Your right-wing, "Christian-nation" thinking errs on the side of too much support (coercion). Neutral is neutral. Face it, you want to create a fundamentalist theocracy with your own brand of conservative mindset in control. The First Amendment does not allow you to do that, so you try some other way to accomplish it through stacking the Court, rewriting the founding of the United States and making true faith into just a brainless ascent to some conservative dogmas.
Wait a tick! He was turned off by JFK's speech which was meant to qualm catholic haters that he would not allow the Vatican to dictate how he would rule? Does that mean a Pres. Santorum will be taking his cues from Rome?
He would have to take his cues from Rome. Frothy has no clue about what he means, he just spouts talking points.
If Rick Santorum keeps this up he may qualify for the Rick Perry Statesmanship award. He really seems to be proving that Perry wasn't all that stupid after all.
Opps. Did I say that? What I meant was "That speech made my perineum all tingly."
What is Rick going to say when he is under real pressure .... say from N Korea?
You would think the son of a psychologist would be able to handle stress better.
That was a non-apology apology. He should have mentioned that JFK never said the things Ricky said he said. Ricky--you STILL have some 'splaining to do. Kennedy was right, and you are totally wacko.
No surprise Feisty that you got your two cents in first! Par for the course.
Robin,
Do you have something to contribute? Or do you just get off by bitching? ☺
Whaaaaaaaa! Robin, Get on point would you? The crying blog was posted earlier.
I, personally, love it was Feisty goes first in these vines. And, if anyone collapses her I just open so I can see and hit the vote button. Between Feisty, Bev, New Dawn, David Walker, Irrespond, etc. I really enjoy my days. I'm 73 and you guys are great. If not for you, the 60s would have to be rebattled.
Thank you for the kind words & reading what I have to say! ☺
Should that ever happen - you know I will be in the trenches!
I know we can count on you.
Thank you, slightlyold. I am honored that you included me in that company.
slightlyold - you're not slightly old - you're just like fine wine - better with age!
Seeking Sanity. I wish.
slightlyold - pretty sure I'm right! :-}
Seeking Sanity gets my vote! ☺
There's no such thing as take-backs Rick. Thats why we have birth control.
I kind of hope that Obama loses. To quote REM "Its the end of the world, as I know it and I feel fine".
JFK was no saint. Rick Santorum was correct when he made the "puke (throw up)" comment about JFK - and he is mistaken in trying to walk it back. There must be a clear distinction and a "Separation of Church and State" especially when the term emphasized is not taken out of context. JFK was and continues to be the liberal democrats "H0" of the Cath0l1c Church. JFK was an adulterer and philanderer just like RFK; Ted Kennedy (Mary Jo); and MLK; Even as they played their alter boy image to the hilt. The Vatican can't manage the Church without homosexuals and pedophiles running rampant as they (no chaste saintly ones - ask Joe Paterno) mess with the women of the "BINGO". Rick is certainly no saint and neither were the Kennedy boys.
OmG - an adulterer and a philanderer!?!?!? That's 4 ers.
This isn't about something as silly as a declaration of Sainthood. The Constitutional separation b/w religion and government is an important part of our national heritage which Santorum (and most Republicans) try to render meaningless. The JFK speech was a fine example of honoring America's religious freedom while understanding that our laws are not found in religious text. Religion deals with beliefs, while government deals with actions.
Spar 2 Cuss: is that all you got? Who said anything about sainthood here? The fact is JFK was absolutely correct in his affirmation of what our founding fathers believed: separation of church and state. All that other junk you spouted is just another reason in favor of separation of church and state.
You sound like you could use a little private chill time. God(dess) bless you! ;^)
spar2cuss- who cares? He was a very good President. There IS a separation of Church and State and, if the far right doesn't like it then churches should pay taxes!
