Arizona Gov. Brewer endorses Romney for president

The Arizona governor formally announces her support to the former Massachusetts governor in the GOP race.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) endorsed Mitt Romney for president during her appearance Sunday morning on “Meet the Press.”

Brewer said she viewed Romney as the most electable candidate to challenge President Obama this fall, and that she made her conclusion after meeting with the candidates and after a debate this week in Arizona.

“I have decided that I am going to publicly endorse Mitt Romney. I think he's the man that can carry the day,” Brewer said. “I think Mitt is by far the person who can go in and win.”

Brewer has become a national figurehead for efforts to curb illegal immigration after leading an effort to install one of the nation’s toughest immigration laws.

She also drew headlines for a confrontation recently with President Obama on an airport tarmac. She was photographed wagging a finger at the president after greeting him and handing him a handwritten note. Brewer described the exchange as being driven by Obama’s dissatisfaction with her book, though the president described the exchange as being “not a big deal.”

Romney is seen as the leader in Arizona, the winner of which is awarded all of the state’s delegates to the Republican National Convention this summer.

Forty-three percent of likely Republican primary voters said they intend to vote for Romney in a NBC News/Marist poll released midweek; he was followed by former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum at 27 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 16 percent and Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 11 percent.

Arizona hosts its primary, along with Michigan, on Tuesday. A larger group of states host their primaries or caucuses a week later, on Super Tuesday. Brewer said she expected Super Tuesday to largely end the battle for the nomination, even if Santorum were to continue fighting.

“He might be in it but I think it’ll be overwhelmingly decided after Super Tuesday,” she said.

That poll also suggested that a Republican candidate who might embrace Arizona’s tough laws targeting illegal immigrants would fare better among primary voters. Brewer was the most vocal proponent of the law, which requires police officers to check the citizenship papers of people they stop or arrest if the officer suspects the person may be in this country illegally.

Sixty-seven percent of likely Republican primary voters said they would be more likely to support a candidate who backs that law, while 25 percent said it would have no effect. Six percent of Republicans said a candidate’s support for the law would make it less likely to win their vote.

Moreover, the poll found that 24 percent of Arizona Republicans said Romney best represents their views on immigration, while 20 percent said Gingrich, and 18 percent said Santorum.

Brewer is single handedly turning Arizona into a blue state. And if she isn't enough Joe Arapio is there to seal the deal.

When did Democrates become so hateful? I thought it was just because Busch, but Busch has been gone for a wile now, and Democrate are more hateful than ever. I read the lies on here and realize most of people on here live in a fantisy world. Just because they disagree with some things with Jan Brewer that attached her on all levels. She simpley wanted to work with Obama and he smubbed her and wrote here off an old nutty woman. You all play into his evil and shamful games. It disgusting. Part of me hopes that you all get what you are willing to lie and deceave for(4 more years of Obama). Its just that I feel so sorry for the children and how bad he is killing their future. I dont see it as a democrate are Republican thing. There are still many good hard working Democrates that care about this country, but they are going to have to stand up to the extreme left and obama before it is too late.

They become hateful every time their deficit spending gets threatened. When people stop confusing equal opportunity with equal outcome..... regardless of effort.

Which rules are we going to play by - everybody works hard and pays their own way - or, nobody gets to benefit from disproportionate effort, risk, deferred gratification, etc? Get rid of the lobby's and stop letting people who don't pay taxes (dependents) vote what to do with the taxes others pay. You can't let the people vote themselves money and you can't let the wealthy throw money at the politicians. A child can understand the futility of these.

Nobody is going to get off deficit spending until they are "cut" off. Much like a junkie, they will lie, cheat, steal or whatever to keep their money drug going. This is why you see the hate. They either sell their votes to get back more than they put in or "invest" in politicians for a higher return on investment.

Same with the GOP war mongers. As soon as they have to stop invading countries with undeclared unfunded wars they get all full of hate too. Neither side will give up their money drug. They are determined to ruin the credit and destroy the currency before they change.

Unfortunately both sides are looking more and more like the North and South in the early 1860's. The division is massive and both sides look at an election loss as financial enslavement. The winner gets all their selfish programs and controls the deficit for their own enjoyment..... the other side pays for it all. This is of course only until the creditors cut us off which is coming soon.

Nobody wants to invest in a country that runs a deficit then can't get out of it. It is a controlled crash.

Brewer bought into the "he the only one electable" manure. Remember in 2008 when they said the same thing about John McCain. If he couldn't beat George Bush how was he supposed to beat the first viable black candidate? Especially when there was virtually no difference in their positions. Just what we need--another RINO!

She should thank her lucky stars that my President is such a gentlemen. I agree that this is a bad comment but you can't help but think she might have a drinking problem and it's unlikely that she has ever gotten a call from Playboy Magazine. Is there a skanky blonde magazine? If so, I'm sure they would be after her and Gingrich's wfe too.

                            1. No body hates George Bush. People are disgusted that

(a.) George Bush didn’t read or act on the threats assessments that caused 911.

                            (b) George Bush allowed our markets to fail three times doing his term and you the right’s idiotic buffoon want my President to clean it up over night!

©George Bush allowed The Banks to consolidate doing his term and act like the Wild West with no check and balances. The Buffoon’s want this President to clean it up!

                            (d) George Bush and his side kick “Dick let me screw America Cheney” allowed, helped, lie and started not one war, but two while they drained full coffins of money left from ‘The great President Clinton”.

€ George Bush and Cheney spent about four million dollars a day for eight years with NO ONE CLAPPING THEIR HANDS and what do you expect now!

(f)George Bush and friends then added insults to our country injury decided to give all billionaires a tax break!

My question to you is “Where were you”!

                            2. Where were you when China surpassed America in manufacturing jobs in 2006 and the big corporations took America for granted and put our workers out of jobs!

                            a. Where were you or The Bush Administration in 2008 when millions were losing their homes and jobs and no one reacted or tried to help?

                            b. Where have you been when our health care tripled from 2001 to 2008 and the nursing homes have been taking grandma‘s and granddad’s house.

                            3. THE UNITED STATES HAD A SURPLUS OF 230 billion dollars in 2000 when President Clinton left and was on a track to gain as much as a trillion dollars in surplus in 10 years.

                            4. Where were you when President Obama eradicated more than 90% of our enemies left on the books claiming victory over America when Dick Cheney rode his wheel chair out the White House!

                            You explain;

How can you support a group of Republicans that have made a good salary, well over a hundred thousand dollars a year, full health care privileges, private perks (golfing private plane rides, paid vacations), full retirement where they don’t have to never work and didn’t lift a finger to steer us out this mess that was left from the Bush Administration for three years and was sleep when thing was crashing around us. You look bad and Jan Brewer is a joke. Ask why Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr. didn’t close the border after they gave millions of illegals amnesty in 1986.

The angry people are the people who helped or caused the problem and now are left with attacks of diarrhea at the mouth with no solution! Next time you and Cheney cross the street together, Tell somebody, you haven't seem Bid Laden lately and we are working on getting our soldiers and jobs back home.

Like Rush Limbaugh, he makes over 4 million a year and stir up trouble and he can’t vote! His taste for the right color fuels his hatred. In time President Obama will go down in history as the best President the world has ever seen. He managed crises here and abroad while the Republicans said NO to making our lives in America better! That's what you are about! Vote with your brain and not your skin color!

The links I posted include video clips of the participants themselves, articles from universities, a couple from PBS which most consider liberal and even one from Anderson Cooper of CNN.

As this is the most egregious lie of all:

THE UNITED STATES HAD A SURPLUS OF 230 billion dollars in 2000 when President Clinton left and was on a track to gain as much as a trillion dollars in surplus in 10 years.

The US had a National Debt of 5.3 trillion dollars when George W. Bush took office. That is a matter of public record. And Clinton handed off a failed dot com bubble that took 5 trillion out of the economy. It is not my fault that you are too ignorant or too chauvinistic to accept the fact that dems played a major part in the recession. If you checked out that second to last link you will realize that Dodd/Frank left our financial sector (Fannie and Freddie) in pretty much vulnerable to the same conditions with the possibility they could drag down the economy again. You people really, really need to get your collective heads out of your arse.

And since I forgot to address your statement about 9/11. It was Jamie Gorelick that issued an executive order preventing the CIA from sharing information with the FBI that allowed the issue of Arab Muslins taking flying lessons with out learning how to land or take off way back in 1998. It that name sounds familiar, she was also at Fannie Mae when they blew up.

You act as if President Obama started all of this! You people really, hum? Your fluids are running out the wrong part of your body! When 911 hit, everything Collapsed! At the end of the day, the problems need to be fixed.

Passing Blame! It is funny how somebody from The Bush Administration knew immediately that it was Bid Laden who hit us! You need to check the archives and how these foreign Presidents from other countries had warned us that someone was preparing something that dealt with planes and no one reacted? You can stretch this matter all you want, the cleanup man is this President and by the way He can read! The failure wasn't just one person or one thing! You get technical, and then you need to address the first gulf war, the Soviet/ Afghan war and why America was giving guns to everybody in that region, cause that’s what started the mess! You sleep with dogs, you wake up with fleas.

You need to be the first person to thank him for at least trying to get us back on track! Have you crossed the street yet?

The other joke is that those four stooges running on the Republican side can’t put them all together and get a clear thought! Cross the street with them!

You need to go back and address the lies that you posted. How about telling us some more about Clinton"s surplus or how Bush caused the housing bubble or the bloated and unregulated derivatives market. All three of those contributed greatly to the recession yet you blame those solely on Bush and the republicans even though I provided you links to the real causes.

BTW, nobody has accused Obama of "starting all of this" but his constant blaming of everyone but those that are responsible sure as hell is not helping.

I would have to say you and liberals like you are a cruel joke on an unsuspecting American public.

                                              Thursday, November 22, 2001

WASHINGTON — All 19 Sept. 11 hijackers entered the United States with valid visas but three had lost their legal status by the time of the attacks, the Justice Department said Thursday.

The majority of the attackers, 15, were from Saudi Arabia while two came from the United Arab Emirates, one was an Egyptian and another was Lebanese.

Only two of the hijackers entered the United States last year, in January and December. The majority, 14, were admitted in May and June this year.

Their visas were granted for either pleasure trips, business or education.
Satam M.A. Al Suqami came in May this year as a temporary visitor for business but his visa had expired by Sept. 11.

Nawaf M.S. Alhazmi was the first of the 19 admitted, entering on a visitor's visa in January 2000. His visa also had expired.

Hani S.H. Hanjour arrived in December 2000 on a visa for academic studies, but became illegal when he failed to attend school.

Bush drive for home ownership fueled housing bubble

                                                Published: Sunday, December 21, 2008

WASHINGTON — "We can put light where there's darkness, and hope where there's despondency in this country. And part of it is working together as a nation to encourage folks to own their own home."
                                                - President George W. Bush, Oct. 15, 2002

The global financial system was teetering on the edge of collapse when Bush and his economics team huddled in the Roosevelt Room of the White House for a briefing that, in the words of one participant, "scared the hell out of everybody."

Eight years after arriving in Washington vowing to spread the dream of home ownership, Bush is leaving office, as he himself said recently, "faced with the prospect of a global meltdown" with roots in the housing sector he so ardently championed.

There are plenty of culprits, like lenders who peddled easy credit, consumers who took on mortgages they could not afford and Wall Street chieftains who loaded up on mortgage-backed securities without regard to the risk.

But the story of how the United States got here is partly one of Bush's own making, according to a review of his tenure that included interviews with dozens of current and former administration officials.

From his earliest days in office, Bush paired his belief that Americans do best when they own their own homes with his conviction that markets do best when left alone. Bush pushed hard to expand home ownership, especially among minority groups, an initiative that dovetailed with both his ambition to expand Republican appeal and the business interests of some of his biggest donors. But his housing policies and hands-off approach to regulation encouraged lax lending standards.

                                                      MEMORANDUM

                                                      The FBI's Domestic Counterterrorism Program

                                                      April 26, 1995

Recent news commentary has suggested that the FBI is hamstrung in its efforts to combat domestic terrorism. One former FBI official was quoted as saying that "you have to wait until you have blood on the street before the Bureau can act." Steven Emerson has asserted that the FBI is severely restricted in infiltrating known extremist groups, that it has no terrorism data base like the CIA's, and that it is powerless to stop extremist groups from masquerading as "religious" groups.

All of these claims are incorrect. Persons concerned about addressing the threat of terrorism need to begin with a clear understanding of current FBI capabilities, which are in fact broad.

                                                      Attorney General Guidelines

The FBI currently operates under a set of guidelines issued in 1983 by Ronald Reagan's Attorney General, William French Smith. The Smith guidelines were a modification of guidelines issued by Gerald Ford's Attorney General Edward Levi in 1976. The Levi guidelines were criticized as being too restrictive and cumbersome. Indeed, many of the criticisms of the current guidelines are really the same criticisms lodged against the Levi guidelines, which the Smith guidelines were intended to rectify.

The Smith guidelines make it absolutely clear that the FBI does not have to wait for blood in the streets before it can investigate a terrorist group. The guidelines expressly state: "In its efforts to anticipate or prevent crimes, the FBI must at times initiate investigations in advance of criminal conduct."

The threshold for opening a full investigation is low: a domestic security/terrorism investigation may be opened whenever "facts or circumstances reasonably indicate that two or more persons are engaged in an enterprise for the purpose of furthering political or social goals wholly or in part through activities that involve force or violence and a violation of the criminal laws of the United States."

                                                      U.S. Department of Justice

                                                      From: Larry D. Thompson

                                                      Subject: Intelligence Sharing
This memorandum clarifies current Department of Justice policy governing intelligence sharing, and establishes new policy. On July 19, 1995, the Attorney General adopted Procedures for Contacts Between the FBI and the Criminal Division Concerning Foreign Intelligence and Foreign Counterintelligence Investigations (1995 Procedures).

The 1995 Procedures remain in effect today. On January 21, 2000, the Attorney General adopted additional measures regarding intelligence sharing in response to the Interim Recommendations proposed by Special Litigation Counsel Randy Bellows (Interim Measures). The Interim Measures also remain in effect today.

The purpose of this memorandum is to restate and clarify certain important requirements imposed by the 1995 Procedures and Interim Measures, and to establish certain additional requirements. This memorandum does not discuss all of the current requirements, and the fact that a particular requirement is not discussed here does not mean that it is no longer in effect.

President George W. Bush hosted the White House Conference on Minority Homeownership to discuss public and private sector efforts to address the homeownership gap and increase the number of minority homeowners in America.

In June, President Bush announced the national goal of increasing the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million by the end of this decade. Meeting the President's goal will not only help more Americans enjoy the benefits of owning their own homes it will also help strengthen America's economy. According to a study released today by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, meeting the President's goal will involve $256 billion in economic activity in the form of construction and remodeling jobs, spending on household goods, and other benefits.

                                                      Background on Today's Presidential Action

In June, President Bush announced an aggressive homeownership agenda to dismantle barriers to homeownership by providing down payment assistance, increasing the supply of affordable homes, increasing support for self-help homeownership programs, and simplifying the homebuying process and increasing education. The President also issued "America's Homeownership Challenge" to the real estate and mortgage finance industries to join in his effort to increase the number of minority homeowners by taking concrete steps to tear down the barriers to homeownership that face minority families.

The Bush Administration is working to increase homeownership among minority Americans through a number of new and expanded initiatives, as well as through ongoing programs administered by HUD and other federal departments, including

OK now let me get this straight. This all started coming together as early as 1990 and now you are blaming Bush for not acting on a warning that he got about a month before the attack. I guess we were wrong to blame Obama for laying blame. That seems to be common to democrats

So what about the sub prime meltdown and the National debt. The derivatives market and the resistance to regulating Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac?

I gave you links to the democrats saying there was no need to regulate Fannie and Freddie. What have you given me other than some link of Bush saying the would like for everyone to own a home.

You Bozo's the Federal Reserve caused everything you are talking about. Bush and Obama are nothing more than bobble head toys who lick their boots. How can you let both Obama and Romney have their largest corporate lobby be Goldman Sachs who is the main connection to the Federal Reserve cartel?

You people see a difference between Bush, Obama or Romney? I don't! They were/are all banking, oil and military contractor owned stooges. Any of these three lobby's says "bailout, invade a country, print currency, borrow, raise taxes etc and all three of these knuckle-heads bow down and start kissing toes.

All the statistics you throw around are fabricated by the FED bankers creating currency or stopping creating it. That is how the bubbles are formed. You can create all the "poor housing' laws you want but if the FED does not flood the market with dollars there is no "loan money" to back any of that baloney. It is a rigged game with the FED pulling all the strings.

At least get pissed off at the people who are actually responsible for this mess and not some bobble head bozo who gets paid to take the heat off them. These politicians don't "announce" or "pass" anything that is not approved by and hand written by these lobby's.

Changing mainstream party candidates expecting change is like changing your socks expecting to become a different person. Both party's are more of the problem than any solution.
