Live from Kalamazoo, it's Mitt Romney!

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Maybe it was something about being back home in Michigan, or the fact that it's nearly the weekend, or just a touch of punchiness after a long day, but Friday night Mitt Romney, yes that Mitt Romney, was just plain funny.

The sometimes-Republican frontrunner, whose reputation for stiffness and an inability to connect with voters on a personal level has long been taken as gospel by campaign-watchers, opened his town hall here tonight as he often does, with an anecdote about his father, a former Michigan governor. But this story was a little different than usual.

"We were in Detroit this morning, at the Detroit Economic Club, then through Mount Clemens, then drove here across the interstate. Drove past Brighton. My parents' grave sites are there," Romney explained. "My dad -- trust my dad. My dad is a very frugal man. He checked all over for where the best deal was on a grave site. And he found a place in Brighton -- because we didn't live in Brighton. It’s like, how did you pick Brighton dad? Well, best price I could find in the whole state. So if you're looking for the best deal on a grave site, check Brighton, they got a good spot you'll be near the former governor and first lady."

A question from a man in the audience about what Romney would do to help the housing industry (grow the economy and get people back to work, the candidate would later explain) was met with another quip about his family: "My grandfather was in housing. That's why my dad grew up poor."

The event Friday night, Romney's third campaign stop of the day after an economic speech at Ford Field and a retail stop at "The Mitt" restaurant in Mount Clemens, wasn't all fun and games. Romney took a tough question about his abortion position, replying that he had once been pro-choice, but changed his views as governor of Massachusetts. He cited former presidents Ronald Reagan and George Herbert Walker Bush as other Republican leaders who had converted to a pro-life view later in their lives.

Romney lays out economic vision - in mostly empty stadium

Standing in front of a giant debt clock, Romney also touted his tax plan as particularly good for small businesses that pay taxes at the individual rates, and promised to cut the deficit by eliminating programs and reforming entitlements like Medicare and Social Security.

"I'm going to get rid of programs. I'm going to eliminate programs, I'm going to cut programs out of the federal government," Romney said.

But once the candidate turned to questions, all bets were off, and Romney had the crowd laughing at several turns.

Even those asking questions got in on the action. A man from Germany asked Romney about the debates. Romney told him that if there were more, perhaps the man should offer to moderate. The man responded that being German, he would make an excellent timekeeper.

Confronted with a question about space exploration and NASA, Romney refused to promise more funding for exploration, saying he preferred to focus on promoting basic science through NASA.

He made light of China's attempt to achieve its own moon landing.

"I know China is headed to the moon," Romney said. "They’re planning on going to the moon, and some people say, ‘Oh, we’ve got to get to the moon, we’ve got to get there in a hurry to prove we can get there before China.’ It’s like, guys, we were there a long time ago, all right? And when you get there would you bring back some of the stuff we left?"

Like any good comedian, Romney saved a sure winner for his final joke. Wrapping the event after more than 40 minutes on stage (he said he'd been there an hour), he made mention of an infamous political gaffe by a fellow Massachusetts governor.

"I’m getting the cut off and I won’t make the sign of the cut off because there’s a lot of cameras around here and that’ll be used against me down the road, just like Michael Dukakis’ hat in that tank," Romney said. "There’s some things you just cannot do in politics anymore.”

Romney just said:

"I'm going to get rid of programs. I'm going to eliminate programs, I'm going to cut programs out of the federal government," Romney said.

Previously, he said "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt."

As well as let's leave the Housing Market alone to "bottom out''.

Mr. RiskyBusiness would probably add, 'Let it all go to Hell and let God sort it out.'

What you don't seem to understand is that artificially sustaining a company doesn't make it stronger, it weakens it. In an open market, having detroit go bankrupt would have allowed stronger companies to come in and pick up pieces, taking the good and throwing out the bad, resulting in a stronger, more stable market. The same goes for the housing market. The government artificially bolstered the housing market and it needs to fail so that good pieces are picked up and bad is left behind, resulting in a stronger housing market in the end. Artificially supporting failing companies that can't compete only leads to more debt, higher taxes and higher prices.

"Let Detroit go bankrupt" is enough to get me to vote for Romney, why should my tax payments be used to bail out Detroit? I am tired of people who screw up getting off without paying their own bills.

Justoneguy: No, most Americans don't want to be left alone. Most Americans want "theirs" and could care less about anybody else. The Tea Party want the "government to keep it's hands off their Medicare" - they want Social Security. Have a hurricane hit or a tornado- "Where's FEMA?" Iran does somes " go after them" Gay perosn want to get married- "We need a new amendment" As the largest employer in the country, most people get pensoions and medical care from the government. State county and local governments give healthcare, pensions and retirement benefits to millions of Americans. The highways, bridges and damns that hold our drinking water and power a lot of our energy- all built by the government. No one seems to complain until they don't work. Trust me- we ALL want the government in our lives.

Wrong.

The $20 Billion in postal losses you've heard about does not come from mail, but a 2006 congressional mandate - under President Bush:

That required the Postal Service to pre-fund future retiree health benefits for the NEXT 75 YEARS.

Yes, seventy-five years.

NOT ONLY THAT, they required the Postal Service to do this nigh-impossible task WITHIN A DECADE.

No other public agency or private firm has EVER been required to DO SO.

As I watched Romney in Kalamazoo, I noticed that Romney finally started acting like his dad, George Romney. George Romney was so respected, a great politician and a great man. He would warm up crowds by his mere presence. Obama doesn't know what he's up against if he's going to have to go against George Romney Jr. Romney was brilliant and made everyone feel excited that he was their candidate and their statesman. Obama better do something fast because if this is what Obama has to face, Obama will lose as much as McCain lost to him.

Yes,

It must be disturbing to GOP/Koch/Norquistians who are intent on:

Running the US into the ground, demonizing the United States President, and turning the good people of America into minimum-wage, voiceless masses:

To have a brilliant, extraordinary, majorly good-looking, caring, consistent, diligent, hardworking, man who loves his country & who has true vision for the 21st century - running for re-election as President.

Must be *tough*.

That's just what we need here in Michigan, sitting around the fifty five gallon drum burning wood from an abandoned house waiting on Krogers to throw out yesterdays spoiled food, a good laugh, Mr. Romney. He, He. Yes sir, that will cure the ache in our belly, and stave of this cold February wind. Can you spare a dollar, a dime just won't cut it any longer. No that's not a typical scene in Michigan, but it would be if Mr. Romney had had his way in 2009. He must think the Republican managers at Ford, GM and Chrysler who work at those car companies who would have been out of work, will be snowed by a few laughs. Its a funny thing about vultures, you can always see them circling overhead waiting on something to die. Move on Romney we aint dead yet.

Backhouse: To have a brilliant, extraordinary, majorly good-looking, caring, consistent, diligent, hardworking, man who loves his country & who has true vision for the 21st century - running for re-election as President.

Yea, coming out of a recession, still shedding 700,000+ jobs a month - the first thing Obama does is saddle the economy with Obamacare, the largest entitlement in history that stuns business into virtual stagnation for 3 years and counting. Simply brilliant.

Obama cripples the energy inustry, the lifeblood of the economy. Obama floods the world with trillions of quanitative easing dollars, de-valuing the dollar causing the price of gas, utilities, food, to skyrocket. Brilliant.

A stimulus program that dropped the median income twice as much as the actual recession did and resulted in the worst long term unemployment since the Great Depression.

Extraordinary?

Yea, more Americans on food stamps than any time in history, more Americans pushed to the poverty level than in any time in history, the first credit down grade in history, 49% of all American families now have at least 1 family member on federal assistance .... is all extraordinarily ridiculous.

Using $10 million in stimulus money to sell 2,500 assault rifles to Mexican drug cartels is extraordinary. Having tax payers spend billions to re-pay Obama's billionaire bundler buddies with Solyndra, Tesla, Fiskar, etc., etc., etc., is extraordinarily dispicable.

Majorly good-looking?

What a leg humper?

What do you think being president is, a beauty contest?

Caring?

Sacrificing 1,252 American lives in Afghanistan, more than twice as many Bush lost in 8 years - all for a cause Obama will simply walk away from having gained nothing .... is caring?

Bankrupting America and our kids future in pursuit of his big government agenda is caring

Hardworking?

What a joke. Check his daily schedule. Other than the National Prayer day speech / prayer, Obama hasn't started a day before 9:30 AM in the last 5 months.

Loves his country?

Name one thing that is that better today than it was January 2009.

Obama loves Obama and Obama's narcissistic dreams.

Vision for the 21st century?

What was it 4 years ago ..... "Hope and Change?"

And 3 years later, more Americans than any time in history have been dropped from the labor force because they literally have no "hope" of finding a job!

How willfully blind and ignorant does one have to be to want to re-elect this guy?

I keep reading posts about how great president Obama is and how he well get four more years.

I still dont see what they see in the man. To me he is a failure and needs to go. Any president with a country in this shape would lose.

I think Romney would be a step up.But he would still have to deal with the children in both houses.

I actually think Ron Paul is the answer,im sick of wars and he is the only sane sounding person on the stage.Obamas Iran war well be a big mistake.

It sure gets tiring when people quote verse and text from economy 101 text books.

The answer, of course, is "true, except when the nation is facing total collapse... then all bets are off."

I seriously hope we either keep the current administration or vote in someone that has the balls to make the kinds of difficult and complex decisions that were made. The worst thing we could do is get someone in there that does "formula business"... you know... the ones that have cookie-cutter processes for any given sitiuation and never vary from them. Because, eventually, those kinds of managers fail when they encounter a new variation, and when they do, they fail big.

Bob, When Obama took over we were not anywhere near coming out of Bush's recession, so the first thing he did was pass a stimulus bill, which started to turn things around despite being only half the size that most economists thought was necessary. Just look at the number of jobs being lost each month: increasing until the stimulus, then shrinking. Well, I think he did help women be treated fairly in the job market first before the stimulus.

Since Republicans have tried to obstruct Obama since day one, we haven't yet been able to escape the effects of the recession, which is why so many people are still on food stamps.

Way too many people have been killed in Afghanistan, because Obama has had to clean up the mess Bush left. Remember when Bush started a war, and then neglected it to start another completely unnecessary war somewhere else, one that killed over 4000 of our young soldiers?

As far as hardworking, I would put Obama up against any other recent president. You don't think he starts his work before any public functions? At least he hasn't spent most of his time on vacation like Bush, and isn't in bed by 9PM.

I know being good-looking isn't a prerequisite, and he's probably a little too tan for your tastes anyway, but it does help during an election, so until you can come up with a decent opponent, good luck trying to beat him in November.

Pacer: I sold 8 houses last month. 14 since Thanksgiving. They're coming out of the woodwork. That much activity, from primary and secondary homeowners, tells me things are light years better than 2009, a year in which I sold about 6 all year. The economy has to shake out. It has zip to do with Obama or the Republicans. Oh it has to do with ONE republican: George Bush. His aborted mess of an economy is only just now starting to be eliminated.

There is also a paradigm shift in jobs. Technology has rendered many irrelevant. Nothing either party can do will change that. That will come very slowly.

Pacer, glad to hear things are looking up for You, but most every business I talk to are struggling including mine. The only sector I talk to that unanimously say they are good, is gas and oil. Bush was really not the culprit, although He did oversee a lot of bad deals. Look to Clinton for the real mess! He is the one that created the housing bubble, it looked great at the time, everyone was getting a house, even if they couldn't afford it, and construction was booming! There was the trickle down and all sectors were clicking. Then fast forward to Bush II, the people that couldn't afford to buy the house defaulted, and everything crashed ! That is typical government management ! How long will it take for people to figure out the government can't manage their own bowel movements! How many more programs do they have to bankrupt before people figure this out, medicare, Fannie, Freddie, US postal service... the list goes on. Fiesty You seem to be all knowing, tell Me how the great one can reverse this trend? They need to go back to infrastructure and national defense, and leave the rest to the private sector!!!

This country is in a complete mess. It's an election year and there is nobody stepping up to the plate that is qualified. Considering that Mr. Obama has taken us down a road that is quite frightening and if we continue down that path, it is my opinion, our republic is doomed. I'm not saying this as a slam to the president because most of us will admit that some of his actions have produced areas of limited freedom. Just one example is the international treaty he signed on Jan 27 allowing foreign countries to dictate to the United States what websites need to be taken down and it also allows for examination of your personal computer at borders. Mr. Obama did this without the ratification of Congress. I'm not sure if people are aware this is in direct violation of the Constitution. These are the types of actions that have those on the right very concerned about the motives of Mr. Obama.

On the republican side, who is the candidate the establishment republicans are pushing ahead? Why of course it's the joker... Mitt Romney. Romney has many flaws and the media has exposed most of them to us... along with his fellow republican Newt Gingrich. While it is commonplace for candidates to do their level best to take down the others, they also expose all weaknesses for the general election. I guess that's just the system we all live in. The other candidates have been taken up and then down...

At the beginning of this primary season, I wrote that it was going to be very interesting... was I mistaken... This hasn't been interesting at all, it's been a total travesty. We are faced with re-electing a very questionable president or electing a republican establishment president... neither are good for this country and with that being the case I do not see things getting better at all.

    years,

and over $1 trillion in the following decade.

    drwtsn,

Bob, When Obama took over we were not anywhere near coming out of Bush's recession,

That's either willful ignorance or a lie. The recession by economic science definition began in December 2007, peaked in Sept 2008 and ended in June 2009, way before anything Obama could have done had time to take effect.

Just look at the number of jobs being lost each month: increasing until the stimulus, then shrinking.

Although a lagging indicator, and the fact that there were still net losses, job creation was picking up - peaking at over 300,000 new jobs in April 2009 (800,000 lost in April for net 500,000 lost) when Obamacare was being passed. Job creation fell to 45,000 in May and then sunk to around 7,000 for months to come.

Obamacare is a job killer. Obama's own CBO stated it would kill 800,000 jobs on its own.

Way too many people have been killed in Afghanistan, because Obama has had to clean up the mess Bush left. Remember when Bush started a war, and then neglected

Obama stated that Afghanistan was the war that had to be fought - that he would win it - so he dithers for a year trying to come up with a plan as losses double - then doubles down on the deployment and announces a "we quit" date. Tantamount to doubling down on the flop and announcing you are going to fold on the river.

    Asinine.

Obama's monthly losses are 5-6 TIMES the losses under Bush ... all for a place he is just going to walk away from!

    Despicable.

As far as hardworking, I would put Obama up against any other recent president.

Bush rountinely had his PDBs at 6:30 AM - Obama's are at 9:30 AM. Bush had literally worked almost half a day before Obama shows up in the office.

Check the president daily schedule ... go back through the months .... it is appalling how little the community organizer in chief actually works.

good luck trying to beat him in November.

Thanks, we need it with half of America having it head up its colon mindlessly believing the crap you posted and voting on a guy based on his looks or rendition of Sweet Home Chicago.

The President’s daily schedule is what the administration and deputy press secretary decides what they wish to publish. He attends meetings all day long including phone calls to Foreign Nation leaders, State Governors, leaders in Congress and people of importance including regular Americans and, yes donors/bundlers. The schedule does not represent anything close to his actual daily schedule – and
    you know it.

I’m sure you are aware that President did not take “daily briefings on Sundays. Sundays were a non-work day for Bush unlike most all other Presidents.

      Glenn,

I'm a progressive democrat and even I am sorry that all this is going on with the GOP. I keep thinking, "Really? Really? is the GOP base so demented that this is all they've got?" I've got Republican friends who feel like people without a tribe now. They don't get this either. We need the balance of ideas in this country -- but this isn't going to work. The longer the GOP uses fear and loathing as the way they influence their voters, the worse things will get.

If you think the primaries are painful, wait until November. They'll be blaming each other more then than now. They'll make Marlon Brando's performance in On The Waterfront pale in comparison. I can see only one candidate left with a little dignity and the Republicans will have to do a lot of purifying, washing and polishing on him to get him ready for 2016. Paul will go on to Republican heaven, Romney wil be banished to Bain headquarters, and Gingrich will be in Court facing a divorce Judge and won't have time for any politicking as he tries to save some of his millions. If it doesn't kill you it only makes you stronger, that's America folks we get stronger with every attempt upon our system. We're going to bounce back despite every thing our current passel of politicians have thrown at us.

I agree, KJBunn. I'm a "liberal" democrat and not trying to be snarky here, but the men running for the republican nomination are scary. The Republicans can do better than this. I know they can. There are/must be moderates in the party who are intelligent, responsible folks with ideas, plans, etc. that are not all tied up in religious fantasies, contraceptive deniers and in some cases, just total BS.

The scary part is that someone like Santorum would try to impose his religion, his "social" beliefs on the rest of the country AND he could win if he's the nominee. I've decided that even though President Obama could whip the Santorums of this world easily, I no longer laughingly want Santorum to win his party's nomination. I believe, based on his past performance, that Romney is NOT so far to the right; and if he were the nominee and won, he wouldn't try to drag the country back to 1954 on social issues. I believe/hope he is just pandering to the far right with some of the things he's saying now.

Please, please. We can't have a theocracy or someone who believes that small women business owners like myself, who employ people btw, need to be regulated to only being homemakers, although I'm a homemaker also; or that my daughter can no longer dictate whether she wants to have children or not.

Why are these men who spout off about small government all the time trying to intrude government and laws into our most personal lives? Makes no sense.

      From the SoCal Peanut Gallery

Northstar makes a good point. The mind-bogggling assortment of easily accessible instant coverage just makes the campaign process immediate and, for lack of a better term, in your face. Every move these people make is instantly available on TV, iPhones, computers, etcetera. The sheer quantity of information instantly available is unprecedented.

      For better or worse.

My take on all this? In the past information has been more filtered by before it reached the public. Advances in information dissemination tend to increasingly bypass filters, leaving an evaluation as to the validity and value of the information more up to the reader/ viewer/ observer. Definitely more democratic but as with anything an increase in democracy demands an corresponding increase in individual responsibility.

Political sniping, often at an absurd and distressing level, has been with us from the start. It is just so much more visible now. Both candidates and electorate need to realize this, apply historical perspective, and process the non-stop tsunami of immediate information intelligently. Not an easy task!

Herman Cain failed miserably to understand the power of instant information. Mitt Romney is learning, but too late? I think the the Romney stadium thing was not a reflection of lack of support, but simply bad planning by his people. They knew ahead of time about how many would be attending, thought they had the killer camera angles to make it look bigger than it was, and, well oops. Oops for everyone. Makes Mr. Romney look silly, and the immediate conclusion drawn by observers is his support is fading badly, when in fact the intent was never to fill a stadium.

Good article in the LA TImes this morning regarding California's increasing validity in the primary process. Our primary is in June, normally too late to matter, but this year the candidates are paying more attention to the Golden State. California is a blue state overall but outside LA and SF there's a lot of red.

The GOP is self destructing shamelessly and very publicly. President Obama is, therefore, a lock for his reelection. Hell, he leads all of the useless Republican candidates by a strong margin and he hasn't even begun to campaign in earnest yet! This is going to be one of the most one-sided elections since the Goldwater debacle of '64. Face it, the GOP is on the wrong side of history with its failed right wing extremist political ideology and its incompetent wannabe candidates thrashing around on the media.

The nerve of them poor folks, who don't work, wanting a handout, oh we'll keep the foodstamp program, cutting that off would hurt Kellogs and Kraft Cheese to much and the ranchers in Texas. We'll eliminate that pesky Cost of Living Index Department too. How you going to give a raise if you don't know how much the cost of living increased. We're going to shuffle them entitlement programs around so much nobody will no what he's entitled to. I'm thinking age 70 is about right for retirement, anyone wanting out before that is just malingering. It is fascinating to watch the Republicans show everyone what they are really like. Cut everything and not propose how to fix problems........except that these cuts will miraculously cure the needs of citizens who want less government, less taxes, less interference in their lives, less health care mandates and less social security and Medicare............errr maybe not on those last two...just less payments into those programs from their paychecks.

When everything is cut, gasoline is $2/gallon but all highways and bridges in the country charge hefty tolls, hospitals are no longer required to take in everyone in their Emergency wards (bad business model) and we all need to buy water since EPA and FDA will be gutted and pollution and healthy food will be controlled only by "responsible" big corporations............then we will all be happy and FREE.

Idiots, listen to the speech. The news yours truly both msn and cnn in their story's only put bits and pieces of his talk in their story. Find the speech and listen and he explains it very boldly and in detail. Pretty good plan actually. Media will always bias to the candidates they want in power, Obama for example gets great spin offs on any talks he gives... Santorum gets great support as well. Media puppets the un-educated and un-willing to learn American sheep followers of their news into voting for who they want to be in power... Mitt actually gave a very organized great speech tonight that was a better economic plan than any of the candidates on both sides of the parties have given lately. Find the talk and listen to it without believing what the media tells you to think. Learn something... This coming from an independent who has never voted repulican. Educate yourselfs people, actually listen to the speeches, not just read the news of what the media tells you they said or to believe in.

He is neither Republican, nor Independent. he is a seer of the first water albeit a blind one, and partially deaf to boot. His crystal ball is more like the toilet bowl just before you flush it. It is true we have a multiple number of Departments and Bureaus that need to be eliminated because of duplication and possibly a number of programs that need modification to cut back on waste. But Mr. Romney has laid out no specific plan as to what his program would be in tackling these problems. President Obama tried to do just this recently and was accused by the Republicans of the same tactics they propose to do if elected. He wanted to combine several Departments which had overlapping agendas. Who voted it down. Our seer hears what he wants to hear and translates this as gospel. Double speak is Romney's forte as in let them go belly up but I didn't really mean file for bankruptcy.

Did you hear the one about the unemployed former Massachusetts governor? He was so desperate for attention that he climbed on the roof of the statehouse and said, "Hey look at me! I'm a weather-vane." Badumpbump. Ching.

So Mitt Romney walks into a bar. Somebody asks him, "Hey Mitt, didn't that hurt?" Mitt responds, "What do you think? No really, I can't decide on my own."

How many Mitt Romneys does it take to change a lightbulb? It doesn't matter, just wait for the wind to shift and he'll change it back.

Why did Mitt Romney cross the road? To get to the other side; it was suddenly more politically convenient.

What's the difference between a neoconservative, a compassionate conservative, and a severe conservative? No, I can't tell either.

What is the right height for a tree? Trick question. Trees are just in the way of oil rigs.

What's the best way to save an iconic American industry? Let it go bankrupt and sell off the pieces like so much scrap metal. That way foreign companies can expand their non-union workforces and exploit underpaid American workers for a change. (No, I didn't think that one was too funny either, but Mitt thinks it's a winner for some reason.)

What did the Mitt Romney on the right say to the Mitt Romney on the left? I disagree.

Does Mitt Romney care most about the poor, the rich, or the middle class? Another trick question. Mitt Romney doesn't care about anybody not named Romney.

Desperate? I want Romney to win the nomination. I don't like him, but the idea of Santorum, Gingrich, or Paul getting anywhere close to even possibly becoming president is just too terrible to even consider. I'd rather risk seeing a heartless, dishonest robber-baron in that office because he may occasionally do the right thing, motivated by pure self-interest. Gingrich is utterly corrupt, and Paul and Santorum are truly committed to absurd, unworkable ideologies and would do tremendous damage trying to shove them down America's throat. Romney doesn't believe in anything, which actually makes him much less dangerous.

The "inevitable nominee" for the GOP: A chicken hawk, multimillionaire Morman cultist who believes that he will one day attain godhood and populate his own world with his spirit babies, that Jesus Christ and Satan are twin brothers, and who wears magic underwear, etc. Bye, bye, GOP. You just lost your last ounce of credibility as the party that was supposedly the champion of Christianity and morality. What a joke. And people are calling President Obama the anti-Christ! What! Notice that no one is even mentioning what the cult of Morman believes in and why they are NOT Christians or Catholics. They are an absolutely heretical cult by every definition. SHEEP. "Baa-Baa."

LDS are christains in fact, doesn't it say on the side of the church " Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Christains and Catholics believe in the ideaology of Christainity! Which is also the same ideaology that LDS follow. This is why educated people don't say that LDS aren't christains becuase they would be ridiculed. Of course a hateful pathetic person as you are would go off of rumors instead of facts..Sad and typical leftist, hateful and uneducated sheep followers you all are!

Romney is Supporting G.M. workers when he buys 2 Cadillacs -- that's a good thing.

Romney is by far the best candidate, he has the best all-around experience, with 25 years working in the Real world; and, as a Governor.

        Romney has a J.D.-law, and an MBA-business; Romney was Valedictorian at Harvard;

Romney has shown leadership throughout his entire life.

Obama has failed to cut the deficit in half, something he promised he'd do.

With over $15 Trillion in Debt and over $1.1 Trillion in deficit, we need a true leader who can turn this

        around, and that's Romney.

        Joe,

The LDS church believes that there are many worlds with many Gods. Also, that God was a flesh and blood man, that Jesus visited Bountiful, Utah, and that there are multiple heavens. Can't say I remember any Catholics saying these things. Help us out and show where the Pope has said anything even close.

        Here are the
        characteristics of a cult:

        • Small? The Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) has 14 million members in 132 countries. In America, there are more Mormons than there are Presbyterians or Jews.

        • Excessive devotion? Mormons are devoted to the Savior, but in appropriate measure He would approve of.

        • Unethical techniques? Ask the pie-throwers to name one.

        • Control by isolation? Even if Mormons wanted to, this would be impossible with 14 million members in 28,000 congregations throughout the world.

        • Control by threats? Again, evidence? Mormon missionaries may be exuberant, but do not threaten.

        • Dependency on the group? The Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) is just the opposite. Mormons want members to be self-reliant and independent so they in turn can help others.

        • Powerful group pressure? Only if that’s the way the critics prefer to define love.

        • Strange? Guilty as charged. Mormons plead guilty to all the strange things that were done by Christians in New Testament times that were lost during the great falling away in the aptly named Dark Ages, among them temple worship, baptism by immersion by the father of the family (), vicarious baptism for the dead, definition of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit as separate but united in purpose, salvation requiring both grace and obedience to commandments, prophets and apostles, unpaid clergy, and continual revelation to guide His Church.

What to know how Mormon men like Romney tossed my mother and us children out of their select society into the streets because my father wanted to be with many women and my mother said no to his Mormon needs. Then as the Church does, they blamed my mother for the separation that led to the church judging her as a whore. Go Romney.. then after church, the strip joints fill up with many great men of the Mormon Church today, facts that I have witnessed too as being raise in such a sect of womanizers,,

Mr. Romney has my Vote, my Donation, my Trust and my Confidence. It's a shark tank of idiots on MSNBC.... if you're reading this, don't bother responding, i'm too busy to read it. BUT i want you to know that i'm 30yrs old. i've been homeless TWICE over 11 years and i've finally built a company that WORKS and i'm HIRING. Want more people like me in the USA? Don't vote Romney.... what? huh? That's right. Don't vote for Mitch Romney, vote for the candidate who understands what it takes to make a successful business...... that's what AMERICA is...it's a very efficient business, it's an environment that encourages successful businesses that elevate everyone's standard of living. EVERYTHING this country is ...is based on the concept of 'business'...small and large.... when you realize this, i encourage you all to vote for the candidate that represents these values.....maybe that's Romney ;) And let's get personal, if you disagree, i encourage you to self-evaluate..... are you married? i'm not but will be. Do you have kids? I don't, but will. Do you have a job? Do you make jobs? Are you a student? Are you a teacher who has always been a teacher? From living in 7 different states and 4 different countries, i've discovered democrats to be students, social leeches, union workers (selfish, small-minded), teachers (purely academic...not real world experience ones), doctors, TRIAL lawyers (one of Obama's #1 supporting unions) , and the RICH...the type of RICH that didn't have to EARN it themselves. I trust you'll make your own conclusions.

Too busy to read my response because you imply you are working at creating jobs and that makes you soooo important. Yet, you sure did write an awfully long comment... sounds like you've got a lot of time on your hands, "busy guy." While you are on your high horse earning it yourself because the rest of us aren't your type of rich, realize I don't buy it for a second. You are full of crap, and your comment is made to make others think you are far more important than you really are. I come from a family of small business owners--all moderate republicans. They, too, are job creators, but would never dream to be condescending and rude--that's not smart business. Get over yourself. I trust you'll make your own conclusions, too, if only you weren't so damn important and "busy." Give me a break.

That's good, because I don't think I can trust yours.

I'm a Democrat and being the social leech that I am, I haven't had any gaps in employment aside from the three months after college when I was looking for a job. Ten years later, zero gaps despite the economy. I work in marketing communications (business), which means my job is to convince people buy your crap so you can supposedly create jobs. And in my industry, I'm hardly alone as a Democrat. Does it blow your mind that Democrats are the key to your job creation?

I don;t care how funny he was. It doesn't change Romney's most glaring character flaw, that he doesn't have a clue and he consistently says things that prove his lack of character, integrity, empathy and compassion over and over and over again.

“If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye. It won’t go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed.” –Willard Mitt Romney, November 2008

"As to what to do for the housing industry specifically - and are there things that you can do to encourage housing? One is, don’t try and stop the foreclosure process. Let it run its course and hit the bottom, allow investors to buy up homes, put renters in them, fix the homes up, and let it turn around and come back up." -Willard Mitt Romney, October 2011

Ann Richards, former Texas Governor, said it best......"Poor George (and now Mitt) they were born on 3rd Base and have gone through life thinking they hit a Triple"......and expect us to swallow it!

Mitt Romney needs to pack his bags and take his A$$ back to Mass. and let the only relative conservative get this show on the road. Newt isn't going to make it either and needs to throw his support to Santorum. Ron Paul doesn't have any support to speak and he should just find an old folks home and get in a rocking chair. When Santorum has the backing of the people he is a very strong candidate. We need to get behind him and push him all the way to the White Hose and push Obama all the way back to Kenya.

That willie lynch letter intellect that you are trying to spew in orger to spread your hate is something that the republicans, the tea party, southern evangelical's and the Ku Klux Klan have beaten you to along time ago and are still trying to belittle other race's when you hear what is coming out of the mouth's of Santorum, Gingrich, Paul, Palin, Norquist, MCconnell, Jan Brewer, Ann Coulter or any other human that thinks like them. If you want to try to use the willie lynch intellect of having a subservant mentality why don't you start with yourself that way you would not have to be undercover with code words and other illiterate B.S. If you don't like black people or any one who uses common sense and real logic(black or white) that is fine because you can bet they don't like you either because of your low IQ and hatred of yourself. You know maybe you need to go back to 1712 and live on the banks of the saint james river with willie lynch so you can be happy along with your republican friends, that way you would not have to deal with President Obama, Kenya, Or black or white people who are not insane, does that sound like a good idea to you?
