“Most people like President Barack Obama's proposal to make millionaires pay a significant share of their incomes in taxes. Yet they'd still rather cut spending than boost taxes to balance the federal budget, an Associated Press-GfK poll shows, giving Republicans an edge over Democrats in their core ideological dispute over the nation's fiscal ills,” AP writes, adding, “Sixty-five percent of the people in the AP-GfK poll favor Obama's plan to require people making $1 million or more pay taxes equal to at least 30 percent of their income. Just 26 percent opposed Obama's idea. Yet by 56 percent to 31 percent, more embraced cuts in government services than higher taxes as the best medicine for the budget, according to the survey, which was conducted Feb. 16 to 20.”

Show your displeasure with your vote " KICK THESE BUMS OUT" !
It just means GOP has done a hack job on common-sense on folks, via their Faux Media.
Time for Dem media to speak up about it!
We need revenues, revenues, revenues. It is ABC to understand the disconnect here >>>
1. EXXON receives on the $Billion-dollar taxpayer oil subsidy.
2. EXXON is the most profitable corporation in the world.
3. Yet it pays ZERO taxes into our Treasury.
Backhouse, I believe most people, regardless of party, would like to see more companies paying more taxes and ending subsidies to all businesses not just the oil companies.
I believe the article was about individual income taxes on millionaires not businesses. Most people will always say tax someone else but not me, since there are many times more people than there are millionaires why would anyone except the results to be any different.
I am glad to see that the majority of the people still want government spending cut and government services reduced. I have said several times I am not against against raising revenue but only after government spending is cut. Raising more taxes will only cause the government to spend more money and start more programs. It's utter nonsense to believe the government can spend itself out of a recession or depression.
1. Taxes: 65% of Americans are for taxing folks who earn more than $1million. We MUST have more revenues for a healthy economy and everybody knows it. But 99.9% of GOP congressionals at federal and state levels have signed over to Norquist/Koch. And they pledged to him personally, NOT TO DO IT.
It appears GOP/Koch/Norquist is in favor of the US economy going down the toilet, rather than cough up equal effective taxes.
2. Deficit: $1Trillion has already been cut from the deficit. Speaker Boehner turned down an offer from the President, to cut the deficit by $4 Trillion.
Boehner turned it down.
3. GOP/KOCH /Norquist wants to NOT pay fair taxes AND cut.
Except - GOP turned down the offer of $4Trillion in cuts.
What a shame. The Democrats have the simple solution of raising revenue, which will work. Then the Republican solution is to cut spending that hurts the people that can't afford it.
Listen to Lord Grover and protect the rich.

About the water at Camp Lejeune. Thousands of Navy people were there, also.
My husband, myself and our two daughters were there for 13 years. U.S. Navy.
It is awful how they covered up what this has done to our health.
These poll results give President Obama a mandate to raise taxes on the wealthiest and cut spending in his second term.
Amy,
The polls are a mandate for us not to allow the Bum a second term.

Amy,

I sure a poll will also show that people in Arizona will want to raise taxes on the people in Maine. Of course a poll will show people who are not rich (98%) will want to raise taxes on those who are rich (2%). The fact that the poll IS NOT 98% - 2% is a telling story in of itself.
I got rights:
You can say it as many times as you like, but you only get one vote.
Have a nice day.
Right! Lets have the Congress lead by example....NO Taxes until they pay thier share!! Passing bills they do not abide by.
Government provides services and needs tax revenue. That problem came up with the first human government on the planet and only Antarctica is exempt. If people want no taxes and no government, there is an entire continent encompassing the south pole. It is much easier to colonize there than follow Gingrich to the Moon.
Whenever a government service is withdrawn, somebody gets hung out to dry. We have reached the point where we could achieve big cuts by shutting down the Postal Service, end life saving and preserving programs, scrap the military, shut down immigration and international travel, or go on a severe austerity program, like the one that has Greece facing anarchy.
SOLUTION: There are four Republican candidates that are saying, "No problem". Let's water board them until they cough up their miraculous solutions. I hope they aren't just saying those things for getting votes - the free world is waiting for their economic revelations from God, or Jesus, maybe the Virgin Mary or the trumpet playing, Italian, Mormon angel, Maroni.
