Obama agenda: Energy pitch

On Obama’s energy speech at the University of Miami today, the AP writes, “Obama is heading to Florida on Thursday to promote an energy strategy that the administration says will reduce dependence on foreign oil in the long term. But Obama's pitch will also have a subtext: that the federal government can do little to halt the current rise in gasoline prices.”

The New York Daily News: “President Obama on Wednesday proposed lowering the corporate tax rate and closing tax loopholes, moves he said would make the United States more competitive and fair. But Republicans said his plans aren't ambitious enough,”

The Republican National Committee’s having a little fun at Obama’s expense, welcoming Obama to Miami. “Fifteen seconds is all it takes for the RNC to sing a different tune than the President,” it said in an email with an online ad and video, called, “Obama’s Got America Singin’ the Blues.” “The online ad highlights how gas prices have increased from $1.85 to $3.59 in three years under Obama. The RNC's day-long YouTube ad buy on Thursday is targeted to viewers watching news and politics content on YouTube in the Miami area.”

My problem is with people who pay in $2000 per year in Federal Taxes and then get back $5000 from the IRS. WTF? Where Obama F'd up was with the Arab Spring, Iran, and leaving Iraq prematurely, stopping off-shore drilling, crap, I could go on and on.

Obama has made it perfectly clear he wants Americans out of our cars with his war on domestic production. I am still waiting for someone to explain how I can go on a modest driving vacation with an electric car. Those 8 hour pit stops would be a waste of valuable time.

Obama is trying to push America to use technologies that still are not cost competitive with oil. Obama things he should dictate the lifestyle of the American people instead of the other way around.

When gas is at $4 or $5 a gallon, visualize a tanker being loaded with oil from Canada about to set sail for China.

Then make sure to "thank" Mr. Obama when you vote.

The average American is paying a high price to support Obama's liberal / radical agenda.

What makes you think it's your God-given right to travel to a vaction destination by car? 3 or 4 people travelling hundreds of milles in an automobile is the most inefficient travel choice I can think of (short of 2 retirees in a fifty foot motorhome). Why can't we have a decent rail system here like they have in every other civilized country in the world?

        Rick,

You are abasolutely right! We used to have a terrific rail system and when fossil fuel becomes too expensive we will again.

ugh...Republicans, light on facts, strong on fear.

Obama doesn't control oil, nor has he cut back on domestic energy. Know who does control a lot of oil, the Middle East. Ever heard of it?

Further, anybody know if Oil Companies are turning any profits recently?

Smith, Spin it anyway you want, the liberals and the MSM should blamed President Bush when gas prices rose, but now they want to give Obama a pass. Remember, Obama was cheer leading the Arab Spring and assisting in the over throw of Middle East Governments.

What we had problems with were the secret meetings between Cheney and CEO's from the energy sector. You remember don't you? Meetings where they invoked the national security issue and we could not know who was in the meeting, what was discussed in the meetings and what policy decisions came out of the meetings. Because you know as well as I that Cheney was the guy running things.I thought you were one of the guys that was up on things sfcret.

          sfcret,

Let me get this straight. You knew it wasn't factually correct when "the liberals and the MSM" (whoever they are) blamed President Bush for the price of oil but now you've got an opportunity to criticize President Obama for the price of oil (although you've acknowledged that such an argument isn't factually correct) so you're blaming President Obama? Do I have that right? Seriously? I'm getting a visual of a dirty, snot-nosed kid that got caught doing something that he knew was wrong and him pointing at a classmate and saying "yeah, but he did it first". A little advice: Grow up! Take off the yoke of party politics and form an original thought. Try deductive reasoning. If you don't know what that means, try looking up "deductive reasoning".

As for your continuation of the rant, just like on the other string, you're blaming President Obama (just wads your panties in a ball to know he's YOUR president too, doesn't it?) for the Arab Spring? President Obama (there it is again!) is to blame for literally millions of Arabs across numerous countries overthrowing their repressive dictators after decades of abuse and torture? Really? And as I pointed out on the other string, the United States only got involved in the overthrow of one government (Libya) and you and your ilk either complained that (i) he shouldn't get any credit because he "led from behind" (aka not risking a SINGLE SOLDIER'S life) or (ii) we had no business meddling in the affairs of another country (you were licking your wounds because the NATO operation was so successful). And as I previously pointed out, you know how much oil we imported from Libya in 2010? Less than 1%!

You can have your opinion. That's your right. You can't have your own facts. That's just wrong!
