With all the Problems to date concerning GOP Caucus States counting Votes, should Americans be concerned about the GOP at least Attempting to steal the General Election?
Yes Rick, Americans should be very, very concerned that somehow the GOP will manage a conspiracy greater than has ever taken place and manage to STEAL THE GENERAL ELECTION!
Now go tighten up that Tin Foil Hat and turn on American Idol.
Awwwwwwwwwww, WCA, no need for that, but I will suggest in your Free Time, maybe You can help the Malibu Mitt campaign in Michigan by going & measureing the Tree's. Or maybe help them with the meaning of Severly Conservative, because they seem to think, singing "America the Beautiful" means Severly Conservative.
A question I have been wanting to ask for a long time ..... do you guys realize how lucky First Read is to be picked by Feisty Redhead to be her favorite site?
She works so tirelessly and diligently to insure her elegant avatar - News for Dumb FUX - leads off most every FR thread, setting the tone for such thoughtful, serious, insightful political discourse.
Just this morning, another example of her priceless talent ....
JoAnnaSmith: As we see with our first poster today, the Liberals want to talk about everything but the economy.
Feisty's reply for such inane insolence ....
As we see with Sniff, she has zero objections to being vaginally penetrated against her will...
Of course it was non sequitur, but that is her brillance .... turning a non sequitur into a 6th grade vulgar non sequitur.
Feisty is extremely prolific too. Be it the first thread in the morning or the last one in the evening, Feisty can always pull out the worst best in everyone. Take yesterday's simple exchange where sfcret suggested Feisty go back and do some research about 9/11, that devolved evolved into this classic ....
sfcret: Pull your head out of your fat rear end and do something constructive instead of waiting for your Obama talking points
Feisty: Here is a better idea - why don't you go down to the corner and blow one of your buddies? It would bring not only YOU but your victim some much needed relief! Bottoms UP GOMER!
Good stuff, huh?
Feisty certainly brings a lot to FR.
Thanks for letting her set the bar for all of us here at FR, it's always fun for adults to get to anonymously act like 5 year olds.
Thank you guys for this opportunity. In the republican party, exactly how much of it is considered the base and do we have any idea how that is figured in Michigan where it is an open primary?
There is one question I would like to see answered....
Since all the political strife over contraception, and we have an honest to god OB/GYN running for President......,
Has Dr Paul ever prescribed birth control to anyone?
Since most want to ask about republican turn out I suppose you will go with that as the more popular choice, but I thought it would be very on point given the current angst of all the women folk on the vine over the contraception issue...
Will radical left wing outfits like Color of Change, Media Matters, and Human Rights Campaign continue to force tv networks like MSNBC into being in the tank for Obama?
After firing Pat Buchanan under the guise that he is a Racist (a tool used daily by the moonbat posters on First Read), MSNBC has only Joe Scarborough left as anyone remotely close to being a conservative thinker. As the election draws near will MSNBC hire anyone aside from the typical liberal rumpswabs that to this day get thrills up their legs when talking about President Obama? Does the network have any shame over labeling Buchanan, who honorably serve our country in the armed forces as well as in two Presidential administrations, a Racist?
Or is censoring conservative thought and opinion an end that justifies the means in getting their favorite president ever re-elected?
On side note, can you post some stories today about why the increase in gas prices are not the Presidents fault? I'm sure you can come up with a list of who to blame. If not just call Axelrod or Carney for the talking points like always.
Why has the media opened up a discussion on the religious beliefs (or should that be professed beliefs) of the president and the potential GOP nominees?
Religious beliefs are not a qualification for the office of the president. It's both un-American and a non-issue.
I've been saying it's a brokered convention all along. If Romney loses MI and Santorum and Gingrich perform well on Super Tuesday, we're guaranteed that no one GOP candidate will have enough delegates to win on the first ballot. After that, the wealthy GOP power brokers take over.
If none of the other GOP potential candidates want the job, who do the GOP power brokers favor? If the economy continues to improve, what will they run on in the general election? Social issues? More tax avoidance loopholes for the wealthy and corporations? Anti gay marriage and birth control? Those all seem like losing issues.
Excellent question Feisty. And yours too Rick,Ky about GOP/TP incompetency, hypocrisy, and even election fraud and the answer is NO, Teapublicans cannot be trusted with elections.
Egilman -- I'd like someone to explain how the far-right fringe can get their undies twisted in a knot about prenatal testing if a woman chooses to, but are perfectly fine with transvaginal ultrasounds against a woman's wishes -- or the doctor's wishes, who must read from a government-issued script? Seriously, it's mind-bending.
With the GOP candidates going so far to the right to appeal to their base, how will the eventual nominee ever be able to tack back towards the center in the general election to appeal to moderates and independents?
Sorry, I have a follow up question. What effect will some of the unpopular governors (i.e. Rick Scott of Florida) have on the general election? Could this unpopularity be a help to President Obama?
Well, if it's Romney, he'd tack back the same way he's done every other flip - shamelessly.
But you know, I'm having more and more doubts it will be Romney. His only reliable bloc of support has been the party establishment. He's had that support because he was trusted to make the safe economic argument against Obama. Gingrich, Cain, Perry, etc., couldn't be trusted to do that. Loose cannons increase political heartburn for the establishment.
But... after his statement about how spending cuts slow growth, I'm wondering how reliable that bloc is anymore. I've felt like the establishment was running out of patience with this candidate, and that might have been the final straw to break the elephant's back.
Will republican turnout this election continue to decline?
Will those republican who are dissatisfied simply not show up in November?
And how will that effect municipal and state elections? What states are 'on the edge' and could see dramatic power shifts if the republicans stay home? at 5%? 10%? 20%?
The claim that the right is energized against this president is always made (ABO) but there seems to be some contradiction to their stance when we see such low voter turnout. How do you folks read it? sorry tek same question somewhat?
Mark and Domenico, When Independent voters are counted in the polls do they only count registered Independents or do they factor in Moderates and NPA's. Will you guys be covering the G20 summit in CaboSan Lucas in June.
Mark & Domenico---thanks for taking our questions. The 3 names I hear most often in the scenario of a "contested convention" are Jeb Bush, Christie and Daniels, all of whom seem to say no. Is there a "dark horse" out there that the Republicans might turn to?
Paul, he needn't bother if he signs that legislation on the trans vaginal issue. Mr McDonnell does not have a good record on women's issues even before he became Governor.
He wrote a thesis for a joint degree from Regent University, on the family, during the piece, that described working women and feminists as detrimental to the family among other observations. He is a 'severe' social conservative and another of those right wing Catholics as is Santorum
Yes, Gingerbread, the Washington Post tried to smear McDonnell with his twenty year old college thesis. (The Post by contrast has no interest in Obama's still-hidden college and law school grades or papers)
Nice try, but McDonnell won the Virignia Governorship anyway in an historic landslide.
As to his "record on women's issue" , what you mean is whether his record pleases radical feminists...it doesnt, but his overall approval rating today is a stratospheric 59% !
Bob McDonnell is a GOP superstar, but once you endorse another candidate, I dont think it is feasible to back off the endorsement and run for President. Or be drafted.
Bob in Va............as it is with most of your superstars he is very flawed. He is term limited by your state's law......a good thing too for him. He is so-o-o brave in planning to sign this neanderthal bill into law, as he doesn't have to run in his state.
it doesn't take a 'big' manly man to be a bully towards women, it just takes people like you who are insecure and feel threatened by superior beings to enable them.
No Bob to the first paragraph, no to the second, PP is not the government.
For your edification, prenatal tests are so common today that they are the norm. They are usually done based on the mother's past/present medical history and it is in the best interest of both mother and baby. In my own case, more than 30yrs ago, I had ultrasounds done and it was not to decide to have an abortion, it was to make sure my baby was safe.
You are really off base in supporting this law. As a man you have no right to decide how women should be medically treated, as a human being, it is none of your business. Go find another cause that may benefit all mankind and stop trying to dictate your personal views to others.
Mainly because people are bored and want some excitement. :)
Also, interesting tidbit on gas prices, heard today that US gas consumption is down about 7%. Just a little info for you. And, please note, the president (any president) has no control over gas prices. That free market, capitalism thing is your culprit.
WCA - that's a good question. From my perspective as an investor, I think it wouldn't impact the race... if pump prices stayed just above $4 and if other indicators of economic normalcy continue to show (unemployment, housing, etc.).
I say that only because I can't believe we've maintained this current rally with WTI above $95 and more recently close to $105. I've thought that was the stock market's achilles heel, and so far it's been a yawner. I think we're desensitized to high $3s. Maybe over $4 that will change. Much over $4 and I think odds are good that would change - maybe not into panic, but certainly into the same unsettled feeling American consumers had the first time we went over $4.
Paul, I believe the market proved 4 years ago that $4 is the tipping point.
I agree that we are de-sensitized to $3+ gas.
I believe all the other economic indicators are Macro points on the overall economic map.
Gas price is a Micro point. If you're not unemployed, you don't notice if the rate is 8% or 9%. Most people can't even comprehend $15 trillion dollar deficits. If you're not trying to sell your house you aren't worried about the housing market (in fact, if you plan on staying for several years, your porperty taxes have probably gone down)
But everyone has to go to the gas pump.
And the blame always goes to the top and the GOP will pound on it.
Bush got blamed the last time, it will be interesting to see if the media will blame Obama. Whether the President can control it or not is a whole other discussion.
WCA is a stalker...and your GOP has no real candidate. Now the site was for asking Mark and Dominico questions if you don't have any for them why don't you just fffade away...you're boring us.
WCA- you didn't defend yourself instead you just made my point. No one is taking away your 1st amendment right just commenting on your childish posts and by the way I noticed Feisty posts before you so how can she stalk stalker? Enough already contribute something of value tha's all.
No kidding Talking to you - if WCA can't hide behind someones skirt he is LOST!
Please review Bob's comment 1.6 above regarding Feisty's day here and get back to me abo0ut childish.
Poor dear WCA - little dude doesn't have two legs to stand on! lmao! Cowards stink and WCA needs a hot shower!
Just once, I would LUV to see WCA man up! - Too bad for me, that is not going to happen in the foreseeable future - Once a coward - always a coward! lmao!
For some reason, in WCA's little mind - him and the rest of the right wing nitwits believe having the 'last' word gives them some sort of validation...
Any GOP candidate who expects to beat Obama needs independents. Which of the four candidates (including Ron Paul) do you feel is the most appealing to the independent voters?
Now that the Iranians are within reach of having a nuclear bomb, and have decided to keep picking and poking at the bear that is Isreal. What would be the environmental effects of the reflective glass that will be Iran after it is nuked?
Admittedly, there's a lot of uncertainty and lack of enthusiasm for the current President, Barak Obama. The GOP presidential candidate may the election.
What are the chances the Republicans retain the House? What seats are up for grabs that would allow the Republicans to take over the Senate, too?
There are 23 Democrat seats up in the Senate, reports are 9 of them are very questionable there are 10 Republican Senate seats up, most are strong and solid. The pundits who are following this are predicting that 5-7 will switch. All the Republicans need are 4 if Obama wins, 3 if he looses.
In the House I don't have the actual figures, but they are reporting about 20 seats going to the democrats, meaning the House republicans will retain control.
President Obama is running as Harry Truman redux, against a "do nothing" Congress. His supporters often cite the historic low poll numbers voters give to Congress. Yet half of the do nothing Congress, the US Senate, is controlled by Democrats, and many Red State Dem Senators are up for reelection this year.
If Obama lights a prairie fire against 'do nothing' incumbents, won't he help hand over control of the US Senate to the GOP ?
With Obama's strongest majorities situated in heavy Blue states CA< NY< IL. , he could easily win the popular vote by over l,000,000,000 and still lose the electorial election. My question is, should this happen, do you believe that the ardent Obamanites will burn LA, ChicagO, and NYC??
Do you think Obama is fiscally naive or a true idealogue with his proposed tax reform for Corporations and the tripling of the dividends tax in his budget? Does he really believe that a minimum tax on foreign earnings doesnt make us less competitive and will actually cost jobs or does he do this purely for political impact? Ame thing with the dividends tax which will only lower the overall value of corporations which impacts union pension plans, 401k plans etc which is a regressive tax on all of us even though postured as a tax on those horrible successful people?
FR is it true that king oba is going to require the Catholic Church to pay for male contraception for all males Catholic or non-Catholic. And that Fiesty is going to be the Male Contraception Czar and install all male contraceptives with her BIG mouth. Alright Boys we know shes UGLY but try to keep it up for installation purposes. LMFAO popcorn :)
I find the pact to Grover Norquist unsettling to say the least. Why aren't the democrats using the fact that 200 of the GOP have signed a pledge to protect his interests as a lobbyist? It seems like I can't be the only one that feels that our leaders take an oath to this nation not special interest groups.
Frist Read proposes a Code of Conduct for all participates to honor. You have two moderators who are tasked with monitoring comments, and censoring those who violate the rules.
Recently a thread about the contraception debate was on the site, with numerous comments pro and con on the issue. Some were extreme, bordering on the rather absorbed charging personal opinion rather than factual statements.
Bev from Chicago posted comments that violated your Code. How are comments such as the following allowed, while some members are suspended for offering comments not as vile as this one is?
From Bev:
Didn't you know The Catholic Church invented nuns and alter boys for the express purpose of raping them?
A little known fact about the Catholic Church is that it's written down in the Vatican that the Catholic Church intends to take over the US and burn all non-Catholics at the stake before Sharia Law comes to America. :)
Is it fair to believe that liberal bloggers are exempt from your Code of Conduct? It would be interesting to hear the MSNBC thoughts on this query.
Just one word to some to think about ~ Accountability ~ and how should this play into some of the potential decisions being made. I hear the hype about the vaginal test/ultrasound and ask myself "how is this more evasive than an abortion proceedure?" and I keep coming back to the concept of "accountability". You're probably wondering what I mean by this so I will try to explain.....
In life it is not "unreasonable" to expect actions to have consequences or outcomes. Abortion is NOT a form of birth control,...I think we can all agree on that concept. So, in the event you find yourself inquiring about terminating an Unwanted pregnancy...we are not yet into the realm of considering a medically advised abortion based on birth abnormalities (which you may concur with), but simply an Unwanted pregnancy...then I don't see it as a hienous violation of a woman's rights when OBVIOUSLY the proper precautions to avoid pregnancy were not followed. And I think that it is an OBLIGATION of the medical profession to start tracking the FREQUENCY that women are terminating otherwise HEALTHY pregnancies because they seem unable to manage their birth control efforts.
Hence "Accountability" needs to be established for us to determine as a society the "where", "what" and "why" of abortions are being performed as frequently as they are. THEN, you can start to question "why" a segment of society feels an objection to this practice; be it for theological or financial reasons.
Because abortion is not necessarily a procedure at all anymore, it can be dealt with in other ways including taking a pill if its less than two months in. Secondly I assume you are not a woman but I have had the procedure done, when I had an ectopic pregnancy, it was painful, it was not an experience I would care to repeat. I had a legitimate medical reason for it. In the case of abortion they do not, its just extra costs to it.
It isn't YOUR right to make people accountable on this, its a law that says that women have a choice. I am tired of the christian right whining about their rights infringed on but at the same time constantly infringing on mine and every other female in the country.
Why will "Romulian Romney" NOT release his taxes since the 1980's? What is the "Romulian" hiding in his taxes? Has the "Romulian" broken the law?? Who completed the "Romulian's Taxes in the past? Is there going to be an investigation by the IRS or the Justice Department over the "Romulian's Tax issues??
If Romney loses MI - where does the GOP go from there?
There has been plenty of chatter about a brokered convention, Mitch Daniels came out again today and said no thanks as have Christie & Rubio.
Do you think if they got the 'call' - they would have a change of heart?
If not one of those 3, then who?
Would it be possible for the powers that be to toss a 'sacrifical lamb' like say a Sarah Palin to the lions?
One thing is for sure - so far this year the GOP primary has defied anything remotely resembling 'CW'...
With all the Problems to date concerning GOP Caucus States counting Votes, should Americans be concerned about the GOP at least Attempting to steal the General Election?

Hope you have plenty of Tin Foil!

Carry on...
Godd question Miss Fiesty!!! I'm going to ask if gas prices continue to rise how soon will Obama open up the stratgic oil reserves???!!!
I like your question too - good choice! ☺
Yeah, that worked great a few months ago. Gas prices went down for about 3 days and the reserves had to be replaced at the higher cost.
This economic illiterate Prez will do it again though. Right around the middle of October.
Bank on it.

Sure Tek, we'll all stay home.
I'm sorry Tek, but this is really a stupid question.
First of all, you are asking a biased reporting crew to devine an answer to a hypothetical. So sure they can guess, but how would they know?
Second, what is this obsession with the people on this board and their hope that Republicans stay home.?
This President is doing a great job, according to you all.
I thought the election was a lock?
Or maybe Obama's only hope is for the GOP to implode?
It sure seems that way based on the questions and comments here.
The claim that the right is energized against this president is always made (ABO) but there seems to be some contradiction to their stance when we see such low voter turnout. How do you folks read it? sorry tek same question somewhat?

Bob McDonnell. That's my best guess.

I am finished discussing this topic with you.
We are a half a dozen or so states into the Primary.
Why are the people on this board obsessed with the GOP imploding and requiring a Brokered convention?
Is it because they know that the Presidents record is not very good?
That the economy will still be faltering next fall?
That unemployment, as predicted today by Gallup, will rise back towards 9%?
That a summer of $4+ gallon of gas will sink any chance Obama has of being re-elected?
WCA,
Mainly because people are bored and want some excitement. :)
Also, interesting tidbit on gas prices, heard today that US gas consumption is down about 7%. Just a little info for you. And, please note, the president (any president) has no control over gas prices. That free market, capitalism thing is your culprit.
OK Guys here is a real question without a comment:
If, as predicted, gas prices stay well over $4/gallon through the summer, what are Obama's chances of being re-elected?
Other than taking from the SOR's what other actions may he take to save his re-election?
WCA - that's a good question. From my perspective as an investor, I think it wouldn't impact the race... if pump prices stayed just above $4 and if other indicators of economic normalcy continue to show (unemployment, housing, etc.).
I say that only because I can't believe we've maintained this current rally with WTI above $95 and more recently close to $105. So far the Media has been silent.
WCA,
Don't get out much... eh?
Tap your ruby slippers together and keep repeating that! lol
It might help you sleep at night!
Face it - you have NO horse in the race & all the denial in the world on your part will change a thing! ;o)
Better luck next time!
Damn, that dog whistle works all times of the day or night!
Do you care to share your point?
Or are you just blathering like an idiot as usual?
Feisty you just proved my point.
Again.
You really are clueless, aren't you?
WCA says while waving his white hanky! lol
Your surrender is duly noted! lol
And again.
Finally surrendered, eh Feisty?
Glad to see that you put down the shovel.
WCA is a stalker...and your GOP has no real candidate. Now the site was for asking Mark and Dominico questions if you don't have any for them why don't you just fffade away...you're boring us.
tty do you know what "stalker" means?
Cuz, see, Feisty has been following me around all day. Notice at the top how she cut n pasted my comments into hers? That's stalking.
See, I got inside her head and it's driving her crazy.
I may be boring to you, but Feisty, Gingerbread Momma, RedDev and devie, can't seem to get enough of me.
Fade away? Nah, it's to much fun goading Libs like you to try to take away the 1st amendment.
WCA- you didn't defend yourself instead you just made my point. No one is taking away your 1st amendment right just commenting on your childish posts and by the way I noticed Feisty posts before you so how can she stalk stalker? Enough already contribute something of value tha's all.

Please review Bob's comment 1.6 above regarding Feisty's day here and get back to me about childish.
Either you are new here or just one of the Libs R Us gang.
Why do you spend your time here trying to defend Feisty?
Suffering for some validation? Need some real friends?
No kidding Talking to you - if WCA can't hide behind someones skirt he is LOST!
WHOA is me! lol
Admittedly, there's a lot of uncertainty and lack of enthusiasm for the current Presidential candidates. President Obama may win re-election.
What are the chances the Republicans retain the House? What seats are up for grabs that would allow the Republicans to take over the Senate, too?
(On an aside.....thank you, Tyler).
I'm pretty sure every one east of Iran will be pretty unhappy.....
How long will "Media Matters" (a well documented extension of the DNC) keep it's tax exempt status with the IRS?
You need a new webmaster for your Politics page. It still shows Newt on top. And, if you want to invent "the VCI", at least update it occasionally.
Excuse me, if Obama wins the election by a Billion votes he will win the electoral college vote also.
Remember a BILLION votes as you said.....
ROTFLMAO!!!!!
Dont know about burning down cities, or a billion votes, but there is a good question buried in there.
What are the odds Obama wins the popular vote and loses the electoral vote? Quite possible.
Will President Obama be a "four year lame duck" if he wins re-election but loses the senate and the republicans retain the house?
From Bev:
The FBI defines rape as the unwanted penetration by an object. This is government mandated rape.
Progressive,
I don't know, why don't you ask the Klingonians, I heard somewhere that they really hate romulians
