Team Paul now passing around oppo on Santorum

In addition to the Paul campaign's latest TV ad, here's more evidence in the emerging Mitt Romney/Ron Paul bro-mance: The Paul camp is now passing around oppo on Rick Santorum.

With Santorum potentially on the brink of upsetting Romney in Michigan next week, the Paul campaign is targeting the former Pennsylvania senator for what it says is hypocrisy -- after Santorum criticized Romney on the 2002 Winter Olympics.

“He heroically bailed out the Salt Lake City Olympic Games by heroically going to Congress and asking them for tens of millions of dollars to bail out the Salt Lake games,” Santorum told a crowd in Ohio on Saturday. “In an earmark for the Salt Lake Olympic games."

The Romney campaign claims the money was for post-9/11 security at the Olympics.

And in an email to NBC News, a senior Ron Paul campaign source points out that in 2001 Santorum voted for legislation that -- you guessed it -- provided millions for security at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Here's a link to the vote, as well as the summary of the legislation.

Well there is a plethora of material to chose from! LOL!

Nothing more fascinating then watching these nitwits feast on their own!

By the time all is said & done, they will have left the 'champion' so battered & bloodied, he will have to limp across the finish line!

And the Democrats didn't have to lift a finger! ;o)

That used to be the case, but these days, all they need to do is repeat them over and over again until they become truisms (in their own minds that is).

Love these wonderful christian values conservatives, they'd do anything, say anything, especially if it is lie, sell their own mother, divide their own party and their own country, even sell their own souls, all in the name of religion or their bible.

It is abhorrent what they are doing.

Perhaps an ad should be run speaking of Rick Santorum faith.

You know If Rick Santorum says he himself is a Christian, will I guess we will have to take Mr. Santorum at his word, and assume that he is.

Perhaps voting for funding of Planned Parenthood was because he was taken in, as are many other Americans with good hearts and intentions, into believing that whole segments of the population would not receive medical care if those clinics didn't exist-pap smears, pelvic exams, treatment for venereal diseases, mammograms- the host of things that the liberal point to to prove that Planned Parenthood isn't about abortion or contraception, but about caring for the poor women in our country.......

Perhaps the certain nurse, was obligated as an employee to provide certain services that might not be in keeping with her personal code of morality. It was a condition of being employed. And as it is well after the fact, what proof is there of any misconduct between the nurse and the doctor. Rumors are one thing, facts and proof are another.

You have to wonder if Romney has anything in the arsenal other than money for negative attacks, and also have to wonder if those negative attacks are all just starting to blend together into background noise for primary voters.

This has certainly been the most negative (and I'd say petty as well) Republican presidential nominating race I can recall, meaning that it may have exceeded the tolerance for members of that party. If so, trouble for Romney, because in the end that and the bio are all I can recall about his efforts this cycle, and bio only gets you so far. I know he's got some proposal out there for taxation or job creation or something. It must not be anything special, because even that campaign doesn't talk about it much.

But I did notice the Michigan race seems to be tightening, meaning Romney has a good chance of slipping away from this most immediate threat (assuming the conventional wisdom to be true about how the establishment would drop him like a rock if he doesn't win his so-called home state). If the establishment drops him, that's it. The party has propped him up when really nothing else could, as Republicans just don't seem to be able to warm up to him.

This is a clear example of the hypocrisy of the religious right. From this morning on 'Morning Joe':

      Per Huffington Post report:

The "Morning Joe" roundtable had a heated confrontation with Rev. Franklin Graham, the son of televangelist Billy Graham, for questioning whether President Obama is a Christian on Tuesday's show.

Graham has come under fire for controversial statements about Obama's faith before. On Monday, he was responding to a recent comment by Rick Santorum that initially appeared to criticize the President's religious beliefs. Graham refused to definitively say that President Obama is a Christian.

When asked if he believed that he was, Graham said that people would "need to ask President Obama" to get an answer. "He has said he's a Christian, so I just have to assume that he is," Graham said.

He defined a Christian as someone who puts "faith and trust in Jesus Christ," and contrasted that with what he claimed was Obama's arrival at Christianity. He said that Obama joined a church after the Chicago neighborhood where he was a community organizer asked him to.

When co-host Willie Geist pressed him to say whether he believed Obama was a Christian, Graham maintained that he "cannot answer that question for anybody."

However, his answer on Rick Santorum's Christianity was a resounding yes. "His values are so clear on moral issues," he said. "No question, I believe he is a man of faith."

Contributor John Heilemann took issue with this. "That is an amazing double standard you just applied," he alleged.

"You have to look at what a person does with his life," Graham defended.

He also would not say whether he believed Romney is a Christian. "Most Christians would not recognize Mormonism as part of the Christian faith," he said. He noted that Gingrich has been married several times, but that he believed that he was a Christian.

Geist questioned this. "So Newt Gingrich is a Christian, but you're not sure that President Obama is. And you said based on the way they lived their lives." Someone off-screen could be heard saying, "Wow."

"All I know is under Obama... the Muslims of the world, he seems to be more concerned about them than the Christians murdered in the Muslim world," Graham responded.

Sorry if this offends anyone, and I realize that these boards aren't exactly Christian country, but Christianity will always look worse when presented by, in my opinion, these idiot televangelists, and apparently that bit of original idiocy is passed down from generation to generation.

It's like the knucklehead who supported Perry trying to explain why Mormons weren't Christian. Simple thing to explain, if you know what you're talking about. People may agree or not agree with the explanation, but at least they will be able to understand it. Instead, this guy went off into... I can't even remember the contorted rationale. Now, don't know for a fact that he was a televangelist, but he sure sounded like one to me.

Religion and politics... Maybe Franklin should have watched Billy more closely he could have learned a thing or two about what is is to be Leader. Franklin could carry his father's Bible let alone his mantle.

At this point, I just assume if someone says they are a "christian", it means they are a liar, a thief, a perjurer, a pedophiliac, a general sexual pervert, a murderer, and just about the most vile thing this side of a nazi.

And hey, I'm just going by their actions and their words.

Watched the whole thing on MJ. Kudos to Geist. He stayed on Graham, as did others on the panel. The more light focused on the religious right the uglier the sight. They either know how dangerous this ethnic baiting is, or they are too darned stupid to know. Either way it is the last thing this country needs right now.

The official stand of most theologians is that Mormonism is quasi Christian, sharing many of the core values, but digressing greatly from faith based salvation into earning one's way into God's good grace. Graham seems to allude to that position without getting into a lengthy and liturgical explanation of things. And as to actions defining a person,.....how many times have posters to these threads accused people of not being Christian for taking a stance that they didn't agree with. We all evaluate somebody's faith or lack thereof by what we can see, as nobody can look into the heart and soul of another person.
