Paul camp says he raised $4.5 million in January

 

Wanting to make sure no one thinks he's going away, Ron Paul's campaign says he's got plenty of cash to go the distance.

In a press release sent out this afternoon, NBC's Anthony Terrell reports that Paul's campaign says he raised $4.5 million in January "preparing candidate for long road ahead."

It also said with an ongoing "money bomb" fundraising campaign, the campaign is on pace to exceed the $13.3 million raised in the fourth quarter of last year.

It says it has $1.6 million cash on hand and has raised, so far, $1.7 million with the "money bomb."

Paul has an ardent and devoted following, but despite the accolades won for his "organization," Paul has yet to win a primary or caucus.

Paul has an ardent and devoted following, but despite the accolades won for his "organization," Paul has yet to win a primary or caucus.

Well, he almost won Maine's caucus, but the Republican leadership made sure that didn't happen! They may be surprised who gets nominated at the state convention, however.

There has been a firestorm of protest targeted at Webster for how the situation is being handled. On Friday, Webster dismissed the entire caucus process as a “beauty contest” during a morning drive-time talk radio interview. That comment came on the heels of the Waldo County GOP Committee voting Tuesday to recommend that Webster face censure by the state GOP committee.

Webster also told the Washington, D.C.-based political journalism organization Politico that some of the errors made in counting votes were related to an email problem. Some of the emails sent by communities to state party headquarters to report results were flagged as spam in the party’s email system and not discovered until later.

    Egilman - Obama had the chance to veto the bill and voice his concerns over the controversal points. Even if congress passed it originally with a wide majority, it doesn't mean that congress could overide a presidential veto once the controversial points were pointed out.

        I'm not arguing that the NDAA was a democrat proposal, or that only democrats supported it. I'm simply pointing out that Anyone and Everyone who voted for it, voted against the fundamental ideals of our founding fathers and this country as a whole.

        Ron Paul's proposed military budget is four times the size of China's. Just how much do YOU think we need to spend fighting other countries' wars?

        Ron Paul is the choice of the troops. They held a march in DC today from the Washington Monument to the White House, where they did an about face, turning their backs on the White House. They then held a moment of silence one second for every troop that has committed suicide, followed by a second of prayer for every troop that has died, since Obama became Commander in Chief.

        Active duty military donate 70% of their campaign contributions to Ron Paul - more than TWICE what they donate to ALL other candidates of BOTH parties COMBINED.

        Support the troops. Give them the Commander in Chief they support, trust and respect.

          Ron Paul is a typical demagogue. He specializes in combining fact with fiction, and pointing out everything that’s wrong with all of the policies that are contrary to his agenda. Then he claims that his irresponsible solution is a cure for all of our problems, which is an exercise in pure fiction. Paul is quoted as saying the following:“The most basic principle to being a free American is the notion that we as individuals are responsible for our own lives and decisions. We do not have the right to rob our neighbors to make up for our mistakes, neither does our neighbor have any right to tell us how to live, so long as we aren’t infringing on their rights. Freedom to make bad decisions is inherent in the freedom to make good ones. If we are only free to make good decisions, we are not really free.”

          Paul’s entire premise is flawed. Total personal freedom was clearly not the intent of the founding fathers. They had the good sense to recognized that a society, or a civilization, as it were, is defined as a “GROUP of people who have joined together to pursue a common interest or goal,” and they clearly set out their intent in the preamble of the United States Constitution, which reads as follows:

          We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare [not just make Ron Paul happy] and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

          Thus, if Ron Paul doesn’t like the rules we’ve set up to “promote the general welfare,” he has the freedom to move to the wilderness and not live among us. But according Ron Paul’s philosophy, he thinks he should have the right to pee against the wall in the middle of Times Square during rush hour, and the government should be precluded from stopping him. Because you see, according to Paul’s philosophy, and his flawed reading of the United States Constitution, that should be his inalienable right, since he’s not hurting anyone else.

          So in essence, Paul wants to have his cake and eat it to. He wants to take advantage of the benefits of living in an ordered society, while not having to adhere to the rules that make it a society. For example, he contends that the civil rights laws that prevent him from refusing to serve certain groups in his restaurant abridges his right to private ownership. But on the other hand, he has absolutely no problem with the fact that the group that he bans is forced to pay taxes that support “his right to private ownership.” If his business catches on fire, he’s going to expect the banned group’s tax supported fire department to come put it out. And if he’s robbed, he’s going to expect the group’s tax supported police department to come to his aid. But the fact is, he can’t have it both ways. If he’s not willing to adhere to society’s rules, he can’t expect to take advantage of the benefits of living in an ordered society.

          Paul also wants to abolish the Department of Education, which is essential to maintaining a “more perfect union.” His philosophy also dictates that we should simply “trust” corporations not to grind up rats in our ground beef, or pollute our air and water. He says, “Just let the free market handle it.”

          Well, that sounds like a plan, but we saw how the free market handled the Wall Street fiasco, didn’t we? The free market created it, and we paid for it – dearly. The only thing free about the free market is the freedom of ruthless and greedy capitalists to take advantage of a naive and unsuspecting public – and then they tell us we’er un-American if we complain about it.

          Thus, Ron Paul’s philosophy represents the rantings of a selfish, unthinking, greedy, and totally irresponsible lunatic. Therefore, if he wants total personal freedom, it’s well within his grasp. He can vote with his feet and move to the wilderness. Then he can pee against any tree in the forest at will – but he shouldn’t expect us to come to his aid if a snake decides to latch on to his pecker. That’s the price of total freedom.

                    Naw Buck, they'll need sea transport for that kind of a massive bugout. Sure, there will be some planes too, but there's a lot of heavy equipment too. I think he's probably right about that too. Even a C130 Herc is only going to carry a small portion. They're great for moving in like a single force with heavy armor and support, but we have at least 60k troops with heavy loads plus armor, planes, helicopters.....

                    We're talking huge mass transport.

                            Say what you want about his chances, he is the most thoughtful of the Republican candidates. Only he and Santorum are consistent in their views. Both have extreme views, but at least they are not weathervanes. Paul is an Ayn Rand zealot but he has an optimistic view of the world, and he is the only non-warmonger on the GOP side.

                            What I am noticing about Dr. Paul's campaign is he is steadily working to gain delegates - thus becoming a big factor at the convention. And I am sure that the GOP establishment, whatever they think of Dr. Paul's views, would love to tap into his organization and money.

                            March 3rd, we do an open Caucus here in Washington, first one in a LOOONG time,(last few years or so has been primaries) I'm going to try and become a delegate....

                              Eventually Dr. Paul's surging popularity will break through the media blackout of him. He may have an "extreme" perspective of how our Military should act in the world, but do you not remember before WWI and WWII this is the exact policy we practiced as well as our founding father's promoted?

                              This two-political party dictatorship obviously hasn't been working. We are on the verge of collapse and bankruptcy. We send Billions upon Billions of dollars to foreign country's yet do not invest in our own infrastructure. The NDAA has literally stripped all American's from our constitutional rights and with no true media attention.

                              Perhaps we as a country should try something different, perhaps we should elect someone who stands for a limited federal government. What could possibly be worse then where we are. Republicans dominated congress...took us off track...Democrats dominated congress...took us off track. Why don't we elect people based on thier character and ideology and not their political affiliation?

                              But you are right, the media and big brother will continue to limit Paul's influence on the general population because he is a direct threat to the establishment. However, when all is said and done, people will finally realize that thier votes truly don't matter, it's been this way for years.

                              He is in last place as he always has nationally. There is a reason for that. He's a nut, bigot, and has unrealistic ideas. I love how his supporters whine and complain about the media not drooling over him and giving him non-stop coverage as they would desire. There is a liminted amount of time and space for news reporting. When something or someone is not important or of least important than others they don't get coverage like more important events and people do.

                                Ron Paul can get liberal votes, chipping away at Obama's base. He can get the youth vote, chipping away more of Obama's base.
