Rick Santorum accused President Obama of requiring free prenatal testing in the health care plan he signed in 2010 because it would detect if children were disabled, encourage more abortions and save money.
"One of the things that you don't know about ObamaCare in one of the mandates is they require free prenatal testing," Santorum began telling about 400 people here. "Why? Because free prenatal testing ends up in more abortions and, therefore, less care that has to be done, because we cull the ranks of the disabled in our society. That too is part of ObamaCare -- another hidden message as to what president Obama thinks of those who are less able than the elites who want to govern our country."
Santorum has a young disabled daughter, who has had several health complications.
Many doctors and medical experts would dispute Santorum's reasoning that the sole explanation for pre-natal testing is to have an abortion. There is value in pre-natal testing, because it can detect potential problems in utero or at delivery and allow parents and doctors to get the proper care for their child.
"Early detection of a fetal condition gives parents the opportunity to terminate the pregnancy in an early stage or to make the preparations necessary to best care for an affected child," Clare O'Connor, Ph.D., of the Biology Department at Boston College, wrote in Nature Education.

What a vile, un-Christian thing to say. This man knows no limits to the evil things that come out of his mouth.
The republican candidates do well until they break away from the pack and everyone gets a good look at them;
once that happens; and voters see their true colors; the out-of-touch-conservative drops in the polls like a rock;
man, did the founders get it right; just give these nuts exposure-time and the american people will collectively say "what the heck is this guy talking about?"
Obama is about to take a cake-walk.
Santorum and his linsane, linsipid comments, displaying his linferior lintellect at every turn. This unlintelligent waste of sklin should just give up trylin to lincite linsurrection and go linto hiding.
This man, along with the rest of the Republican party, are insane. I have seen some nasty Republicans but their clown car is coming off the rails. Who do they think their audience is? It is not only the right wing extreme that is listening; it is the entire nation. This man will never be president; of this I am sure. The other Republicans are no better.
I'm convinced neither Santorum, Gingrich or Paul actually want to be president, or even the GOP candidate. Why else would any of them go on like they do with these outlandish comments. I think Romney really does want to be the GOP nominee, but probably does not really want to be president.
Romney would love to be President just so he could make money selling off bits and pieces of America. I'd like to know how much money he and his 1% made off Taxpayer funded Olympics in which he managed 1.5 billion.
This story is just another example of the stone-age philosophy of Sanctus Santorum.
I have posted before that I have campaigned several times against Santorum here in Pa and I can testify to the fact that he is a major loon. His craziness transcends any politician I have ever known. His comments such as man on dog are usually unsolicited and unforced they are what he actually believes. He believes that intelligent design is science and backed the nuts in Western Pa who were trying to force its teaching in public schools. He thinks women should be forced to die rather than be given the right to an abortion. He believes in absolutely no kind of birth control inclusive of condoms or IUDs. He believes in no regulation of business no government responsibility for healthcare , social security or medicaire. He brought a 20 week old stillborn home "to cuddle" and meet the family. He claims to be a Catholic but is opposed to all non reproductive Social teaching. His beliefs are far closer to those of radical Christian or Muslim fundamentalists. He likes to play the Catholic card a lot but what he professes to be his beliefs bear absolutely no similarity to those advanced by the Roman Catholic Church. Somebody should ask him what he thinks about Jews, Hindus, Buddhists or Mormons it would be a thing of beauty.

This kind of comment by Santorum is an example of a bigger problem with conservatives and the T-T-T Party;
they do not have the ability to look at issues from any other angle than a concrete-set mind;
they look at the same situation as everyone else, and are oblivious to the clear clues, even when shown the way by titans of science; such as Darwin
Excuse me . . . are we in a remake of "Inherit the Wind"?
Please Michigan . . .dump Romney, vote for Sanitorium!
Me thinks this religious phony has been tuning in to the glen beck crazy hour.
You neocons/teabaggers are looking and sounding more and more like the Talibana everyday. Lets see if that strategy works for you in November. GO RICKY, GO!
the political-strategy of rooting for Rick is sound, but the fact that someone with his stone-age views can get so close to the American presidency is scary
Rick Santorum is not only wrong about the President - his views are both mean and dangerous. He was a terrible Senator in PA and that is why he we not only defeated - but defeated by nearly a 20% margin - as an incumbent.
Anyone who took the time to listen to Pres. Obama's remarks at the recently held National Breakfast meeting in DC knows that the President is a true Christian. It is Rick Santorum who I now question; the God he pretends to believe in is not the same one I know as a Catholic. Santorum should be ashamed of his reckless comments.
I so hope this guy gets the nomination. It's gonna be great watching him lose in a landslide.
Once again it seems that there is a disagreement between science and mr grover, the gop, & the rushbo. What is the result of prenatal testing. Like, in the internet age, should we support our schools or screwels as rushbo calls them. So many ditto heads unemployable.
My recommendation is that there be no sexual activity of any kind, in this country until the whole contraception thing is solved. No contraception provision=no sex, no "unwanted pregnancies and abortions, no reason to complain
If this is supposed to political theater - Santorum sucks at it. Unlike the 'frothy mix' that did stick to Santorum - none of his comebacks have yet to really hit any target.
Sure am glad his kids are still young enough to not be permanently scarred . . .
Does anyone else hear echos of Adolf Hitler in this idiot's rhetoric?
What wil happen to people who don't think "the right way"? Will they be put into concentration camps for "re-education"? And what happens to those who don't conform?
We've seen this before. Let's keep this nazi bastard out of the White House!
When you can't find anything to criticize the President for, you make things up. It's been around for a long time and is a proven vote getter.

These Republican candidates are idiots. Prenatal testing can help save babies lives. There was just a story a few months ago of a baby needing surgery before it was born and the surgery was performed before the child was born. This life saving surgery would not have been possible with out prenatal testing. Republican's seem to be able to spin diamonds into dog @!$%# or so they think.
I had to laugh. Santorum would cut every bit of federal aid to disabled persons and have them die in the street if he could.
Santorum has no idea of what president Obama says or does in any realm, but merely spewing his own distorted views to drag down the president's aura and prestige. Santorum has no idea at all of how the president thinks. Questioning president Obama's Christian values is not for Santorum or anyone else's business. President Obama's christian values would do nothing to generate jobs in America, just as the current 112th Congress has done to date. Santorum is a politician trying to mix in religious values into our political realm, rather than question the 112th(current) Congress on their inability to generate jobs as they promised in 2010. Questioning Romney's Olympic leadership in retrospect does nothing to help generate the jobs the TEA party promised back in 2010. Any right-winged politician questioning another's Christian values is stepping way outside the boundaries of their political realm. America was not started as a bible thumping country and these extremist are taking their church into the depths of politicizing issues. America has numerous religions and no one should question another's religious background, just because he/she are of another religion. The words state: Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness", not TEA party-ers are the one to run the country, or women are second class citizens, as they won the right to vote and choose their own leadership. Courting the TEA party separates those who would discuss and compromise from confrontational-ist with narrow-minded, narcissistic positions.
Every night, I get down on my knees and thank the good Lord for giving us Senator Sanitorium. He is allowing many Americans to get a glimpse of what is in the minds of religious wackos and what they would do if elected. So, THANK YA, JESUS! Good luck, Rick! and Thank You, Republicans!
Heh. Santorum gets more disgusting and offensive by the day. Not even mentioning his wingnut positions on women's bodily autonomy, his Republican Party does not give two s.h.its about disabled people. In my state of MN, Republicans recently voted to cut the $11.50/hr state wages for in-home family caretakers of disabled children and relatives, a program which saves the state money by keeping disabled folks out of expensive group-living homes (http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2012/02/17/disability-cuts/ ). When people got upset, they pretended like it was a valiant hard decision made solely in the interest of the all-important cold hard cash, because "the state only has so much money" (as though there's no other way to raise or save any - by, say, having the wealthy/corporations pay more, or cutting corporate subsidies). If given a choice between cash and the human interests of disabled people, Republicans will choose the cash, no questions, even when it comes to something so modest as $11.50/hr caretaker payments. Apparently families of disabled people are supposed to just shut up and accept their lot that Republicans don't really care whether or not they live in poverty.
Rick Sanitarium is among the mentally disabled. For Pete's sake, America, wake up to the Right Wing fascism rearing its ugly fat, bloted head! If you thin k Obama is bad, just wait until one of these idiots gets into the White House. The economy is getting better, don't fix what is working.
Four more years.
Let Santorum speak. Let the world see the filth he has in his heart and how far from Jesus's teaching he is.
Let him reveal what he is filled with, lies, hypocrisy and slander.
A wolf in a sheep's cloth.
