Rick Santorum accused President Obama of requiring free prenatal testing in the health care plan he signed in 2010 because it would detect if children were disabled, encourage more abortions and save money.
"One of the things that you don't know about ObamaCare in one of the mandates is they require free prenatal testing," Santorum began telling about 400 people here. "Why? Because free prenatal testing ends up in more abortions and, therefore, less care that has to be done, because we cull the ranks of the disabled in our society. That too is part of ObamaCare -- another hidden message as to what president Obama thinks of those who are less able than the elites who want to govern our country."
Santorum has a young disabled daughter, who has had several health complications.
Many doctors and medical experts would dispute Santorum's reasoning that the sole explanation for pre-natal testing is to have an abortion. There is value in pre-natal testing, because it can detect potential problems in utero or at delivery and allow parents and doctors to get the proper care for their child.
"Early detection of a fetal condition gives parents the opportunity to terminate the pregnancy in an early stage or to make the preparations necessary to best care for an affected child," Clare O'Connor, Ph.D., of the Biology Department at Boston College, wrote in Nature Education.

Anyone but Obama 2012 ....
Yep, and this is what you end up with: a whole lot of Santorum all over the floor...
Today John McCain said, "We're dumb, but not stupid". Correction: Santorum is both dumb and stupid. Now shut-up.
Mack Lyons -- In that ad by Santorum, what is that brown stuff the fake Romney is shooting? Ha!
But seriously, what this boils down to is arguing that ignorance is better than knowledge, and making lemonade out of lemons, with no intellectual honesty about the many single working mothers out there who need resources for child care. Anyone, especially a man against health care for women like contraception, pre-natal care, etc., is a stain on society.
Gee, True Patriot, if a woman can't afford to care for a child, then why get pregnant in the first place? Seems like a no brainer! And, by the way, please spare us the supercilious crap about knowledge and intellectual honesty; you don't have a monopoly on it.
bigbenalaska
Maybe you can explain what is exactly the difference between someone on the left taking our rights and someone on the far right doing the same?
I no longer believe people when they say anyone but Obama. They keep getting behind unelectable morons, Santorum might just be the biggest loon of all.
Spider what you right wingers fail to realize, you are also against contraceptives which would stop these unwanted pregnancys. You can't have it both ways righties. Do you think they really want to get pregnant?
You forgot something ... (/sarc)
Please use it liberally in the future, otherwise someone might think you were serious (shudder).
There's no one out there BUT Obama who is even remotely capable of leading this nation in the right direction, and that specifically includes the ongoing GoTP Presidential Nomination Circus.
Fred Evil
You actually think someone who intentionally takes away your rights is what is best for the country?

Anyone but Obama 2012 ....
So, how is the weather in Alaska? I hope that you stay in there, and enjoy the many advantages of being in that place.
We need people that can offer more than just a statement like that. It just shows that you really don't care if someone can send us back to war. That is the reason that the country is bankrupted.
In case that the news don't reach Alaska, we just ended a useless war that lasted 10 years, and the current winner of the Republican party is launching his elective plataform against women.
Well, John, Santorum and Romney both want to take a woman's right to contraception away? So according to your logic, I don't think they're right for this country.
Right on, John 737. Kinda like 8 years of lost civil liberties through the trumped up Patriot Act, pushed by the neo-cons' hallmark success: Bush/Cheney.
I guess your next post will be the ongoing scare of how the government is coming to collect the 300+million privately owned firearms in this country.
I wonder, do you actually frighten the hell out of yourself when you look into the mirror to shave each morning?
hey obama extended the patriot act.......
So easy to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Stick an aspirin between your knees. Good grief, what will they come up with next?
verno - saying all right-wing people are against contraceptives is like me saying all bleeding heart left-wing liberals don't have any brains. There are people on both sides of the fence for and against everything.
bigbenalaska
Code for: "I can't defend a f*cking one of these clowns, so I'll just say this"
The right is brain-dead. They've used reverse logic so long they believe it. They use a rope to push. They give money to the rich to trickle. They believe economies run without demand. They retire debt by collecting fewer taxes and starting unfunded wars. They create a better economy by letting crooks run wild...
And sure, it's a plot against the disabled to required insurance companies to pay for prenatal care. What idiots. How on earth are we going anywhere with morons like this in power?
Ricky is way outside the American mainstream. If you want "anyone but Obama", you'd better come up with someone who is more representative of this country. The current bunch of republican loonies simply represent a small and shrinking slice of this country. Rant and rave as you will; demographics will win in the end. The wall street moneymen must be quaking that mittens hasn't sewn things up yet. Time to attack little ricky !!!!
Next Insane-torum is going to call Obama a "poo poo head".
bigbenalaska's brain got frozen to the light pole in front of his igloo. He probably thinks Sarah Palin is still governor.
It's like they're fighting each other to see who can say the stupidest thing. Sorry repubs, they're not coming up with anyone you should trust to borrow your car, much less run our country.
Oh come on. Obama is offering prenatal operations in his bill, which can be used to "promote" abortions. But that is dependent on the mother's choice. And that prenatal care can also be used to not only save the fetus, but give it the care that it needs to survive. To me, that is a necessary evil.
And by the way, Santorum is using the absurd hypotheticals common of most Republicans. If we are to take Santorum seriously, then maybe we should just eliminate birth control, because even though it prevents unwanted pregnancies AND protects against disease, it is an agent for immoral activity. Why don't we also ban inoculations, because they are a penetration of the body. Let's also do away with blood transfusions, because they obviously transfer blood to other humans, even though they help people with diseases like sickle-cell anemia. The GOP are using extreme hypotheticals that are at the very least ridiculous and at the very most dangerous concerning health and medicine.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
So does the plan require pre-natal testing, and oh by the way it's free, or does it require that pre-natal testing be done at no charge?
I'm starting to notice a trend, when "talking points" don't work and you can't back you statements up with facts or credible sources, start bad mouthing and name calling people. Only shows their level of intelligence in my opinion.
If nature would have taken the child at some point during pregnancy or after it's birth then I have no problem with the mother ending the pregnancy herself. "Special needs" children would have been killed after their birth by the forces of nature. Today parents get to decide on raising a special needs child and if the mother chooses to end the pregnancy then so be it. Prenatal testing is a very good thing and Santorum is just trying to make hay.
Just when you think maybe the Far Right Wing couldn't get any more ignorant and/or ludicrous, up steps Rick Santorum to prove this thought total folly!
I love the ranting that is coming off from Ricky Santonut. Yesterday, he said that President Obama wants to thrust his brand of Christian Socialist Theology on the rest of the America. Today, he says that thru Obama-care pre-natal testing, President wants to encourage abortion and thus look down upon disabled people.
For the past two weeks, the the high drama was hosted by Willard the Romney, who said, Detroit auto industry is back on its feet, not because of Obama rescued GM and Chrysler with government bailout, but because of what he encouraged the auto companies to go through bankruptcy themselves, without government intervention, when the credit from the Banks were dry in 2009. Willard wants to have to it both ways; i.e. Government should not have rescued the auto industry, at the same they should have come out on their own, which was not at all possible in those circumstances. Also, his statement that he was "Severely Conservative" than the others on the field.
Before Willard started his Comedy Club, it was Newt Gingrich who was entertaining the audience with all his bombastic statements.
I love the current Republican triad of RomeyNut, Santonut, and NewtNut. Lot more fun to come.
It is not ethical in my view to knowingly bring a fetus to term that is surly going to die within a few years or have no higher level brain function. It is MY decision if I want to abort such a fetus not YOURS. If you choose to knowingly bring a seriously mentally disabled baby into the world and take care of it the rest of your life I fully respect your decision and dedication. By doing so though of course I hope you have the millions of dollars required to keep many such children alive. I also hope you wouldn't be so spiteful as to support a law forcing me to do the same.
Obama is sane, I'm not convinced the same can be said of Sanitorium.
Anyone but Obama ....except for Santorum!
Santorum is CRAAAAAZY! While Obama is horrible, Santorum is abso-fcuking-lutely insane! I'll take Mahmoud Ahmedinejad over Santorum...they are nearly identical, however to hell with santorum! If we can muster up a birth certificate for ahmedinejad....
Overlord....the only reason the right-wing extremists, like Santorum, are taking this stand on taking away a woman's right to a legal abortion is twofold.
First, the business owners in the future will have these HUGE pools of unemployed young people, willing to work for a mere pittance, and as you know, the vast majority of business owners are Republicans. They can hire the best of the best, and at rock bottom costs to boot! Why?? Because of the population explosion due to the repeal of Roe vs Wade.
Second, there will be tens of thousands, maybe millions, of severely handicapped people born into the world, which will drive the cost of their care through the roof. Who will benefit from this increase in patients with life-threatening, debilitating birth defects? Yep....the doctors and hospital CEO's! And who do most of these people vote for? Yep....the Republican candidates.
They say they are taking the ethical stance on birth control and doing away with abortions, when what they are really doing this for is to make more money. With the Republicans, it's ALWAYS about the bottom line.
AHEM!!! They are out thick today. Lets not forget to be adults here...
DNFTT
Looks as though Ricky is as bad if not WORSE than Willard, Newter and some of the other "theological" based candidates...
He lies about this, he will lie about ANYTHING!
Re-elect President Obama President...
maintain some sanity in American politics!
Santorum is a hypocrite!
Check out his plans to slash Social Security ( a vital social program for millions of disabled Americans): www.detroitnews.com/article/20120107/POLITICS03/201070321
Now "who looks down" on the disabled?
I certainly look down on Sanctimonius Ricky. He sucked as our senator, so we kicked his @rse out of the state.
Don't most people want pre-natal testing? Especially if it's free. This is going to be a losing argument for Santorum and if he can't recognize it, is this really the kind of smarts we want in D.C.? I thought this whole thing was supposed to be about republican job creators, why are we changing the subject anyway?
Sure, EVERYONE knows the only reason expectant mothers want prenatal testing is to decide whether or not to have an abortion.
Wow....I mean, WOW.
I don't want to hear about forcing women to give birth until I know how society will help support the process. Santorum, where do you stand on maternity leave, child support (a few Teapublicans like Joe Walsh and Gingrich come to mind), child care assistance so single mothers can work, health care if children have disabilities -- Answer these things first. Don't just tell women to make lemonade out of lemons (WTF).
Oh, I guess "It Takes A Village" doesn't fit in too well with Santorum wanting to end public schools too -- Especially since public schools can't require Christian prayer, teaching Christian creationism, etc. But Santorum's whole sexist crap, whether contraception or serving in the military -- Dude, move to Afghanistan.
There's another article today about men not earning enough to make marital commitments. Heck let's talk about good-paying jobs. Restoring the American Dream will help restore the family, and that's what President Obama understands and works on.
Santorum is a lying, mouth-breathing, arrogant, sanctimonious waste of space.
NOT presidential material.
Yeah..Yeahhh...Vomitorium and You also Blabbed America is less safe with PrezO... Might I remind You, Vomitorium, That PrezO, With our FINE special OPS, Has Taken Out Many, Many Top Al Qaida @$$Holes including, Obama NAILED Osama!! In his FIRST Term AND KingGeorge, TheVacuumBrained never got ONE islamic geek.
Let alone NOW PrezO ignores the bad off kids?. there is an Old Saying Vomitorium: "Open Mouth, Insert Foot" Just keep it up and All People will realize what an Ignorant Politico YOU really Are. Here is a helpful Post Even For You Vomitorium! Go Get A Job!!!!!
Mr. Santorium, the President doesn't look down on the disabled besides idiots like you that is.
Supporting parents with disabled children would lower the abortion rate. Republicans cutting these funds, eliminating oversight, and being idiots is what increasing abortions in the case of disabled children. Idiots. I dare anyone to read this full story so you can understand just how bad this statement from Santorum really is.
http://ttruth3829683.newsvine.com/_news/2012/02/18/10438429-childrens-community-mental-hell-update
Of course Bozobama looks down on the disabled, as well as ANY regular working person, plus, remember his ignorant little joke on the Tonight Show, amking fun of someone, as if they were someone from"the special olympics"? Bozobama looks down on all of us, the better reason to send him packing this November.
Yep, I really like all the pictures of Mr. Obama with his chin thrown up at the ceiling and then talking down to everyone in the audience. Sorta reminds one of......of......of......
T1Truth.....you have just violated the Code of Ethics with your post # 2.10.
So the truth is going to catch up to you.
We could save alot of money if we just inaugurated Obama to his second term now.
go back under your rock moron and take pea brained santorum with you
Would someone please remind Dad Santorum that:
(A) In the name of common human decency and respect for his family's privacy, Dad is not allowed to exploit his daughter's disabilities, anymore than he should have been showing a dead baby to his children;
(B) The Santorum children are fortunate indeed that Dad, as a politician, enjoys a secured taxpayer-funded health and pension fund, so that Dad will never have to lay eyes on a medical bill. All that, and thanks to special interests and PACs, their lying, stupid suck of a father is so bought and paid for that no Santorum will ever, ever have to worry about money.
Note to Dad: American women have been able to vote since 1920. You might want to take that into account, Squinty Eyes.
Rick, for me you just sealed your fate. You will not be getting my vote for this obvious lie you just launched. You should be ashamed of yourself. Prenatal testing is a baseline for the health of both the mother as well as the baby. Medical treatments such as surgeries inside the womb nurtures life not death. Information can be used for multiple reasons.
You know what's pretty obvious in all these posts? Just take a look at which one's are COLLAPSED by the "community". ALL of them are in essence supporting Santorum and against Obama! Yeah, you freakin Liberals are alive and well alright. Everybody has a right to an opinion - as long as it agrees with YOURS !!
And you talk about sanctimonius!
Once again Rick Santorum annoints himself with the frothy mixture that forms at both ends of his mouth (with apologies to Mrs Santorum and children).
This guy is turning out more nutty than Bachman and Palin. GOP is toast.
Someone doesn't understand the difference between a fact and an opinion I see.
Wow - as a parent who has a child with that had a defect I can tell you first hand, that IF your child is diagnosed with a "possible" defect - you get pressured to abort.
Part of that is the pressure induced by lawsuits from people who claim "they never were told about the possible problem, or the extent of the problem'. The other part is that there are people in this current administration who have written articles promoting "quality of life" or the expense that will accumulate as to life or death decisions.
Yeah, quality of life, the burden of caring for a disable child was repeated multiple times to us. Our kid had a 50-50 chance of having the worst case diagnosis - that was more than good enough odds, and Our daughter is doing just find and a productive member of society.
A suggestion for Mr. Santorum:
Give up LYING for Lent.
Kaybeetoys - Extraordinarily brilliant observation.
If IGNORANCE were a subject in school, I'm confident that Rick Santorum would get an A+ in the subject!
@DB Akron - you were given a choice, Santorum would not only remove that choice because he thinks you're incapable of making what he thinks is the right one, it appears as though he wants to rob people of any ability to be prepared to face the special needs their child may have. There are degrees of disability/illness and some have burdens that are hard but bearable and some not so much. I actually had a receptionist stand in the way of my scheduling an appointment with my OB/GYN when I told her I was pregnant and that, due to the dreaded advanced maternal age and other factors in my family medical history, I'd need to be scheduled for chorionic villi sampling and other pre-natal testing. I couldn't get through to get an appointment with the OB despite the fact I was also having some referred pain that could have been indicative of an ectopic pregnancy and the reason for it was that the women in that office were "pro-life" and assume anyone who said they wanted pre-natal testing would terminate. Believe it or not, I had to go to PP for an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy wasn't ectopic while I tried to find a new OB/GYN which meant I ended up missing the window for some of the testing.
If you put your religious beliefs in the way of someone else's medical care or ability to obtain testing because you think people will make a decision of which you do not approve, you should have no right to work in the medical profession, a medical office or in a legislative capacity.
This is just great!! The Pope's new spokesman "Rick Sanitorium" is beginning the moral inquisition of the United States and worse yet, the evangelical right is joining the forces of the Papel. I for one like our Government. I for one enjoy living in the United States. The tea party whiners should leave to Rome or Utah. The rest of us Americans who love our country should work as a team to solve our problems in an adult fashion of working together. The bigoted misinformation by the birthers, the Palen sheep and the right wing entrenched have done more to trash the United States than any Al Quaida propagandist.
The Christian Taliban will destroy our nation. Only the demented would equate prenatal care with abortion.
The far right wing republican disease must be vaccinated once and for all.
They are the biggest threat to society, nation and the human existence
A little study of the rise of the Third Reich will reveal that Mr. Santorum is running the same plays that the leader of that movement did. Thankfully now we have the internet to fight against the type of gun-toting thugs that forced Germans to go along. Rick is a mouthpiece for the Vatican, an institution that most of the founders of this country worked so hard to ESCAPE. Catholics need to keep their patriarchial, controlling dictatorship out of our politics!
Rick is right. Right on target when it comes to my limited knowledge, also known as "ignorance." I have read the Bill, the law, Obama Care, three times and missed it every time.
"One of the things that you don't know about ObamaCare in one of the mandates is they require free prenatal testing,"
I am not going to read through it again. The Supremes will rule it as it is; Unconstitutional. There is the little matter of "State's Rights" that supercede it.
NC, I was watching the Third Reich on History Channel last night and it is scary just how much the Religious Right and Tea Party are acting like the people in Germany leading up to the rise of Nazism. They already have their version of the jews in the form of muslims. They also hate gay people too. Plus they also were anti-immigration and wanting to keep their country and race pure.
They could be our version of the the Third Reich.
NC open heart post 2.30 "The Third Reich?" Are you forgetting Austria and Russia in that game and the roles they played?
The only problem that I see with the Catholic church is that they, like so many others, want to have their cake and eat it too. How can they, on the one hand, take nearly 3 billion from the federal government every year (which is really you and me and the rest of the tax-payers) and then make demands from the hand that feeds them that are beyond the written law? Is this a "moral" or a Constitutional issue or neither?
My specific reference was the propaganda used by Hitler to convince Germans to go along, of course there were other factors.
I agree on the Vatican and Catholic Church, We founded this country to get away from them in the first place, Geez!
I have a new idea for the GOP...Run Boehner - His first priority is alcohol, so we know he won't stay focused on any other crazy ideas long enough to screw things up, plus he has five digits like Grover Norquist wants.....Also when he says he doesn't remember something he said yesterday, we know it's probably the case....
Saint Santorum and the Taliban right wing strike again. Could he at LEAST run these idiotic comments by a grownup outside his cabal before making them? He's not just going to ensure a landslide victory for President Obama...he's going to take the entire Republican party down with him with this extremism. How'd you like to be a moderate Congressional candidate trying to win election from the same party as this sanctomonius would be dictator?
"He's not just going to ensure a landslide victory for President Obama...he's going to take the entire Republican party down with him with this extremism."
I've always said that such a humiliating, crushing defeat might provide the Republican Party the incentive to reform itself into a more reasonable political organization that is moderate and that reflects the principles of middle-America instead of the right wing lunatic fringe.
I imagine Obama's campaign staff is sincerely hoping (if not exactly praying) that Santorum wins the GOP nomination. Just for fun, here are the latest polls:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_election_santorum_vs_obama-2912.html
Exactly--well said. The argument Santorum makes is that Republicans lose when they nominate a moderate instead of a conservative -- Though I don't know what this is based on, Goldwater as compared to Bush Sr. for example? And I don't know which current candidate is a moderate, since the GOP/TP has moved SO far to the Right, all the candidates are conservative to the point of making Reagan look like a liberal.
The Left is hoping Gingrich will stay in the race keeping the vote split, thus forcing Teapublicans to have this debate -- The renewed culture war is welcomed. Though issues such as abortion were settled a long time ago by Roe v Wade and the Hyde Amendment, the fundamentalists have continued to simmer in their delusions-of-persecution juices. It's the 21st century. Enough!
SAICs
Santorum has a special needs child, where do you get off saying he wants to limit this where he has openly pursued protecting the disabled and people with special needs?
A friend of mine found out her baby would never live after birth. Due to legalities, she had to carry that baby for months, before they would induce the labor and get that baby out. imagine how that would feel, Mr. Ricky! They found out her baby had NO BRAIN. and she had carried that baby for months because abortion was not legal back then. A great majority of women, when they find out they are pregnant, are thrilled. Those babies are wanted. Nobody casually writes out an errands list, "coffee, drycleaning, abortion, grocery store..." Santorum is trying to make a point that us liberals are not like them. That we are not as American as they are. And he is sure getting in to ridiculous territory.
Repiblicans want to end welfare for the poor, they want to slash or end ssi, they want to turn the entire social security program over to their already rich friends to run, they're against abortions for poor women (here in Michigan republicans voted to end taxpayer funded abortions, but since their salary and healthcare is paid by taxpayers, they voted to leave abortions in their healthcare package- does that sound like people that really want to end abortions??) If republicans somehow manage to get elected and end all of the proprams that they want to end, what are they going to do with all of those billions of dollars--- now they can start to pay for the trillion dollar tax break they want to give the rich. Republicans are against abortions only for you and I, abortions are still legal so they are making us pay for abortions for themselves, there wives, daughters, and probably girlfriends
What is wrong with this person? Santorum obviously does not like women.
"Santorum is a Worm and a loser, that's all l have to say"
What a sad state of affairs for our country. In less than a generation the once respected Republican Party has evolved from a party of ideas and offered solutions, to one which merely opposes whatever the other side offers and which rejects science, and compassion for our fellow human beings who have fallen on hard times. A political party which embraces and reveres willful ignorance above all else.
If the hero of the modern Republican Party, Ronald Reagan, were alive and running for president today he could not win a single Republican caucus or primary. Modern Republicanism would brand Reagan "too Liberal" and "too Progressive", and he would be scorned by the same people who pretend to glorify his accomplishments and memory.
That, in a nutshell, describes just how far to the right the GOP has shifted. And it makes one wonder how much farther to the right the party can move before it simply falls off the cliff.
Republicans really need to stop talking about Obamacare here in Michigan because they have been using Obamacare against us for years. We, the taxpayers of Michigan are forced to pay the healthcare for every ex-politician and their dependents that has served in Lansing, and we will continue to pay for their healthcare for the rest of there lives. Imagine the up-roar from republicans if anybody tried to force companies to continue healthcare for all of their former employees. Those against President Obama's healthcare program say that we shouldn't be forced to pay for healthcare that we do not want, while at the same time they know full well that they are forcing everybody else to pay the healthcare cost for themselves and their dependents for life. Anybody making less than $200,000 per year, I'm sorry to have to tell you, but you are just another sucker that republicans have tricked to believe anything that they tell you. They tell you just what you want to hear, that's all. In just the last 10 years, name one thing that republicans have done to help the poor and middle class
We are already seeing the republicans pushing policies that would have been viewed as political suicide even a few years ago. If they do well in the upcoming election, just imagine how far to the right they will move then.
It's the old political pendulum. The republicans are going to continue moving farther and farther to the right, becoming more and more extreme, until they lose badly in a major national election.
This man, his viewpoints, and supporters can be summed up quite succinctly...
Santorum is scary, and you are too if you support him.
Done.
Why would we do something so stupid! He would cost us sooooo much more money in his second term than he did in his 1st term....(bullsh*t bank bailouts). Are you still looking for hope and change? I'm not talking about the hope and change obama promised and failed to deliver....im talking about real hope and change.....like ending the wars, fixing the debt, and balancing the budget, limiting government to its real purpose, (really) bringing the troops home, and bringing back civil liberties! is that what you are looking for? Yes? The you dont want Obama....you want Ron Paul!
mqira -- yes finally someone with a brain
My granddaughter would not be alive today had it not been for pre-natal testing. Rick Santorum is nothing more than a hate filled, lying, religious fanatic -- a "christian" version of the Taliban.
Wow, we're in agreement on something. But just what is the "hidden message?"
The "requirement" refers to coverage to make prenatal testing free -- NOT to the woman to use it! Reallly, a woman MUST have prenatal testing? And as already discussed, the woman is not mandated to have an abortion if she learns of complications--that remains her decision as it should. How gullible do people have to be to believe yet another lie from someone like Santorum about the Affordable Health Care Act?
The "culture war" like all "wars" (e.g., class warfare) is used as wedge issues to divide people (and why these are called "wedge" issues) and to gin-up a core base within the Right-wing. How many times do people need to hear fear-mongering lies about "death panels" and what have before they figure out something more insidious is going on here?
Ironically, these issues of religious institutions and labor laws in regard to insurance coverage would be a moot point if we had government-administrated single-payer health care. For me, these nontroversies only further confirm the need for the United States to join the rest of the world in removing the greedy insurance industry (or religious institutions) from the equation by providing Universal care for all.
That statement brought a smile to my face and lit up my otherwise dull Monday :-)
As much as I loathe li'l Ricky's stance on issues, and as tempting as it is to just wish he'd shut the H*LL up, the silver lining is that more and more people are recognizing his lies. That gives me hope.
'mqira' wrote:
REPLY: 'mqira', have we really reached a point in this country where facts no longer matter, only blind and irrationally partisan rhetoric -- such as yours above -- matters?
That is apparently your position if your argument is that President Obama is responsible for the "bank bailouts"; because the bank ballots, was a George W. Bush administration program called the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP); an emergency 3-page, $700 Billion piece of legislation concocted by Mr. Bush's Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson in 2008 and signed into law by then President George W. Bush on October 3, 2008; a full month before the 2008 presidential election (President Obama took office 3-months later on January 20, 2009).
So, you've found yourself in a hole with this argument using misstatement. Do you plan to keep digging?
You are entitled to make up your own mind, of course, but you are not entitled to make up your own facts.
Read, and learn: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troubled_Asset_Relief_Program
Had I not read the entire healthcare legislation, I would have found Santorum's ideas to be far fetched. The healthcare bill not only provides services to the "disadvantaged, the poor" but it allows for very far reach into each and every one of our personal lives. It allows the government to directly access your bank accounts, savings, etc. I contains specific language about assisting people with "end of life choices" It wasn't so long ago that the majority of Americans were shocked at the actions of Dr Kavorkian on behalf of those who wished to die....Under the wording of the new healthcare law, your wishes will not be the basis, but rather the costs versus your age (translate that into how much tax revenue can your government expect from you if you live) No, they aren't "going to pull the plug on grandma" to quote our President....they just won't allow her to be plugged in at all. So given that these items exist and are repeated throughout the legislation, it also stands to reason that those who might be born disabled are not fully tax producing units, and as such, by making abortion extremely available (meaning free) it is easier to convince somebody to terminate a pregnancy that might have complications and "try again". I am basing the observation of the legislation that our government has already signed into law, and I don't see this as a real stretch of the imagination.
Being handicapped myself, and it is a birth defect, I can tell you that living with severe birth defects doesn't make a person a new race, it makes it bitterly hard. Stopping debilitating and life limiting defects eliminates suffering. So why is that a horrid thing to do?! Give people a chance. They aren't requiring abortion, just preparing parents to see if the child stands a chance at a happy life or no!!
Gee Sue, perhaps you'd like to prove ANY of the things you've said above...since they're all lies.
Me thinks that Ricky should head to his nearest mental health facility and get some help. This reflects some pretty disturbed and distorted thinking.
NDD,
Distorted is exacting the word for Santorum campaign so far.
Free prenatal testing is giving every parent the wonders of modern science to bring this child to a healthy delivery. Two of my grandchildren were high risk for a number of reasons. Both were monitored until they were born, big and healthy. thank God my family had insurance to pay for these tests. I am so glad this is part of the HCA, it will help so many parents and children.
Northstar and NDD......I just read that piece and had to read it twice to make sure I got it right. This twerp gets loonier by the day.
Before my granddaughter was born she too was at high risk for several reasons and also was monitored constantly until the day she was born, healthy. I am very grateful for the great care her mother received and the peace of mind it gave all of us as she grew to full term and every day I care for her, I thank God for such a perfect little human being whom I love very very much.
If there is only one thing I can do for her in my life, it will be to help ensure that these right wing Neanderthals running for President and their cohorts in the Congress, will not take away any right she has and is entitled to as a woman. I fought those battles before and our rights were hard won and will never let them go.
Gingerbread Mamma,
I am with you.
If Santorum keeps talking this way to women ...their mothers who happen also to be grandmothers, Ricky you have not seen anything yet....
GBM and Northstar: this was the first thing I thought of when I saw what Santorum said. Does he really NOT know that families are helped by prenatal testing?
The longer Santorum is in the public view, the more convinced I am that there is something seriously wrong with the man. He doesn't need to be running for President, he needs a mental health evaluation. FAST!
NDD and Northsatar......I'm convinced too that this guy is mentally ill. In appearing to be mild mannered and genuine, he is actually more dangerous. He has made some strange claims this past week or so, from the fairly banal, they are elitist (meaning us), to this nonsense to day.
Earlier to day I watched a discussion on him, and there were clips going back several years from functions that slipped under the radar at the time, where he made some strange claims on religion and how the world belongs to Satan, reminds me of one of the old missions we attended years ago during Lent, where the priest would try to scare the congregation into believing we would all end up in hell if we didn't repent.
Santorum is just a small-minded hypocrite. That may work for him with the GOP and as a grasping, greedy lobbyist but it won't win him a national election.
Yay! Sailcat is back!
Time for the Sanitarium
What do you expect. Religion clouds reasonable judgment. Look at everything he is saying. It is all based upon his RELIGIOUS interpretation and nothing logical.
He also seems to think that shows like "Leave it to Beaver" actually show what it was like in the 50's and wants to take the US back to that MYTHICAL era that never existed past the TV screen.
I think it's too late for Ricky to be placed in a mental hospital; he's surpassed the amount of harm he could do to our country just by opening his mouth.
Ricky is a member of Regnum christi, an apostolic Catholic group, where the members are consecrated to do God's work on earth. You can google regnum christi. Mel Gibson also is a member of this group. They sound a little loony together too.
Gingerbread Mamma::: Your telling about the mission you attended years ago reminded me of the college I went to my freshman year. It is a church-affiliated college, and I had no peace there until I was baptized-- then people shut up. But I never attended that church again.
Anyway, before I was baptized one of the gals told me that if I didn't join that particular church I would go to hell. I told her that I guess I would see a lot of my classmates there. She was the same gal who told me that I shouldn't wear the white linen jacket I loved to wear. Why? "It makes you look pregnant". I came back at her with "What makes you think I'm not?"
Senator Santorum---you are going to have to make up your mind whether President Obama is an "outsider" or an "elite"----I don't think he can be both.
Kind of like the nut jobs who claim President Obama is a Christian AND closet Muslim!
These idiots sure cover their 'bases'....
Feisty, you mean today he is a Christian, yesterday he was a Muslim, and tomorrow a Solicalist, and then what? Oh, yes, he's an illegal from Kenya.
Also Feisty, do they have a real base to cover?
Sally Ann,
Today's GNOP base consists of; fear, stupidity & racism!
Thankfully, they are in their death throes...
On any given day he hates corporate America and is preventing job growth, then he is in bed with corporate America and is owned by them.
The problem with lies, they are really hard to keep straight.

JRMJR2
@Feisty I heard Obama is also a secret wonder twin and a transformer as well and he is really spiderman
That's what happens when you listen to FOX NOISE. Try using your own brain.
Careful what you wish for.
What they need to be covering is their fat naked a$$es.
Santorum doesn't know his pie hole from his rectum. Now that disgusting stuff is spewing from his mouth.
@PhantomBeast
That was thoroughly unpleasant to even attempt to read. Is English not your first language? If it is, please go take a few remedial English courses.
For people defending Obama.....what are you defending? He has done nothing! (i know you will bring up bush....old news, try something new, rather than compare him to bush...on his own, what has he accomplished?) He has passed NDAA....He has taken tax payers money and given them to corporate CEO's in the form of a bailout, so that they could still recieve their millions...AT OUR EXPENSE!, he has continued (YES, continued) a war, that has allowed corporations like KBR/Halliburton to overcharge our government over 1 BILLION dollars in which their CEO made over 42 Million, again at our expense....Obama is the most Republican democrat i ever saw! He is a politician....he lied......you believed.....and he has got you brainwashed!
As for Santorum.....anyone who defends that nutjob should look in the mirror hang your selves with meat hooks....because if you think that this crazy man in office would help this country....you are as stupid as the Germans who believed hitler!
I can tell mquira is typing furiously at his or her keyboard, but all I see on my screen is "Waaaaaaaaaaaaahh!!!"
LOL
Any of several dozen things listed here;
http://whattheheckhasobamadonesofar.com/?q=21
Conservatives really need to make up their minds...has President Obama done nothing or are his "radical policies" destroying America.
Oh yeah, in the crazy world of modern Conservatism contradictory narratives only reinforce each other.
I think that there is a great deal of confusion regarding where our president, and all other politicians, really stand. It would seem that speaking to the moment, to a specific audience, and being a chameleon are the hallmarks of a good politician. If I am speaking in front of environmentalists, then I am green. If I am speaking before women, then I am for women's rights. If I am speaking to a specific religious group, then of course, I am in agreement with their moral compass.....Our president has done that well and as to what his religious affiliation is (and the water is very murky there), he has successfully played to the fundamentalist gospel and charismatic christian movements while at the same time being most conciliatory to the the Islamics. As to elitist and outsider...well, he is elitist in that he believes himself to be intellectually and morally above everyone in this country, and the only person to have an answer to any problem. And at the same time, he is not above pointing to his humble beginnings to prove that he is not part of the Washington insiders....He may not be part of the Washington inside, but he came up through the Chicago machine which makes him a political insider, but perhaps not in Washington where some senators and representatives have sat for literally decades.
Not as stupid as you think,
You beat me. I was just going to speak about lying as it pertains to "Thou shalt not bear false witness..."
The problems with the Rick Santorums of the world is that they truly believe they are on God's side and no matter what they lie about, God will forgive them. So they say whatever comes to their lunatic minds and hope no one will notice that they are lying their backsides off.
They think they're special and more important than anyone on the face of the planet. They act as though the whole world revolves around them and their opinions.
It's lunacy. And ego. Nothing more. Nothing less.
If I were truly religious as Santorum professes to be, the last thing I would do is lie. But that's me. Otherwise, you're nailed for what you really are - a HYPOCRITE.
Tell the truth Santorum. Tell the truth and you'll win the nomination, otherwise you're toast. Just look at Romney. He lies left and right and everybody knows it. Hence, his low poll #'s. Plus he doesn't believe in the American worker.
"The problems with the Rick Santorums of the world is that they truly believe they are on God's side and no matter what they lie about, God will forgive them"
Never, ever, at any time, no matter what, under any circumstances, for whatever reason, trues a politician who believes he has god on his side. It is an invitation to total and absolute tyranny.
Pat Boston MA: Yours was by far the most accurate description of Santorum and people like him. The more he speaks, the more frightening he sounds.
scholarlymama - I'm waiting for Santorum's head to start pivoting on its socket, foaming at the mouth and speaking in tongues
Oh wait - he's already doing that
Beware of Opus Dei - this cult group has Santorum in their pocket
since mr. santorum has a very generous health care package provided by the good citizens of the us i suggest he take advantage of the mental health provision----he is delusional. santorum could benefit from intense therapy --he is seriously mentally bonkers!
This is just par for the course. In the early days of his presidency, Obama suggested the addition of a non-military public service corps of volunteers for youth who don't want to join the army, so they can still serve the country. The tea party republicans started spreading the idea that he wanted to start his own little private force, whose job it would soon be to go around and take everyone's guns! Seriously. These guys are STILL gripping their guns with white knuckles over that. More fallout: even tho the administration has yet to so much as suggest ANY gun control laws, all these weirdoes really think that he has - I mean, what else would Obama want a youth volunteer service corp for?
What else would 'end of life counseling' be for, if not to kill grandma for being a drain on society?
What else would prenatal testing be for, if not to determine which embryos to abort?
These guys live in their own world, and it is a very strange and frightening world indeed.
He's also in Regnum Christi, an apostolic Catholic group, whose members are consecrated by God to do God's business on earth. Mel gibson is one too. This just gets crazier and crazier as time goes by. I was assuming he was a C Street guy. However, it sounds like he's far surpassed C Street.
Didn't Hussein lie when he said his health care reform would not cover abortions?
Or was Hussein just being a hypocrite when he said his health care reform would not cover abortions?
Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not actually have.[1] Hypocrisy involves the deception ofothers and is thus a kind of lie.[1]
Hypocrisy is not simply failing to practice those virtues that one preaches. Samuel Johnson made this point when he wrote about the misuse of the charge of "hypocrisy" in Rambler No. 14:
PIKE: Or perhaps, just perhaps you're such a rabid Obama hater that you manufacture canards to spew forth with?
And BTW, do you actually think by referring to the President as Hussein, that you can make him less of an American than you? You see pal, in America it's not supposed to matter what color your skin is, what religion if any, that you practice and where you came from. So if this is indeed an issue for you, perhaps you might want to question your own "patriotism".
I don't know of any Hussein who had anything to do with the healthcare act, and NO, there is NO part of the act that covers abortions. The Hyde Amendment is NOT repealed by this act and still prevents ANY federal funds to be used for abortions. So stop the lies about the healthcare act. Just because President Obama's middle name is Hussein, it does NOT give you the right to imply that he is a tyrant like Saddam or any of the other Middle Eastern Hussein's, just by referring to him ONLY by his middle name.
How's it smell up there in yer own quivering rectum, Mr. TeaPL?
Awww, Pike. You're so cute when you make up stuff to scare people or...well, maybe to earn your toll stripes for the week. And by the way...everyone is on to your using his middle name to imply something shady and foreign. You are full of yourself...look in the mirror to see who's lying.
Uh, Pike? Hussein died back in 2006.
Did Santorum say anything about helping the parents of disabled children?
Ah. Didn't think so.
Probably not. You know in a conservative rightwingnut's mind, once they are born, you can give any assistance to the parent, that would be ungodly to do so.
Yes he did. Remember when the little boy asked him about covering the costs of his meds, and Sanatarium launched into a spiel about drug companies needing to make a profit? Or was that Romney? There are so many lying hypocrites out there representing the GOP I get them mixed up.
No Candy it was Sanitoiletum.
Thank you for the correction, Ted.
Conservative thinking:
Preciousness of life begins at conception and ends at birth.
culheath - I have to agree with Bill Maher and take it a step further.
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/bill-maher-rick-santorum-thinks-life-begins-at-erection/
hah! ...thanx :)
@ NFIL,
ps..love the ying yang change cats
Santorum is not pro -LIFE. Like most of those who claim that label, the truth is that he is only pro-BIRTH; they don't give a crap about what happens to the once-fetus-now-child after it passes through its mother's vagina into the world.
They don't care about - and don't want to spend a DIME on - making certain the child has food, shelter, clothing, good medical care, a safe and clean home, a good education, and protection from being abused.
I heard this yesterday and thought it was a pretty true assessment, for pro-lifers, life begins at conception and ends at birth.....
Where can I get the bumper sticker?
Thanks for that link, NFIL! Here's an apt quote from it:
Sorry to tell little Ricky that the women of America will whup his a$$ if he messes with us!
I don't believe that people do not care about the child; however, I know that I, for one, don't feel good about supporting a mother who has no desire to parent, who refuses to take proper care of her child, feed them, clothe them, give them a decent clean place to live (despite the fact that my taxes pay for food stamps, medical care, housing vouchers, and free school breakfasts and lunches) I have to support parents who will not participate in their children's schooling, will not meet with teachers, and often times will not be bothered to even assure that their child attends regularly until compelled by a court officer. I resent those who continue to have children, despite the availability of contraception, and each child is like a pay raise with more aid being put towards a family already in crisis. I wouldn't object if the crisis were actually improving, and children were not giving birth to children, because they are "poor" or because they are "unloved" and "have low self esteem" If they are poor and unloved and have low self esteem, then their parents are not truly being parents, and all the money we are expending is being wasted as the children are not benefitting, not moving forward in their education, not moving toward a way out of poverty. For all of you who accuse the conservatives of "not caring about children", the flipside is true when you fail to mention that children can be used as a money making commodity, by their parents, and by politicians who are all about exploiting their plight during an election cycle (the modern equivalent to kissing babies, I presume), but who offer nothing substantive to ameliorate the situation for these children after election season is over.
That's a great statement of Conservative stereotypes, but it just doesn't square with reality. 61% of women who have abortions are already mothers. http://news.change.org/stories/61-of-women-who-get-abortions-are-already-mothers
Given those numbers the reality is that many, many women who have abortions aren't careless sluts who don't consider the possible consequences of sex. They aren't greedy but lazy sponges who see additional children as some sort of free right on the welfare train. They're responsible adults who find themselves in situations which require difficult choices.
And even knowing that, Conservative leaders would like to make those situations more common and those decisions more difficult by also making it more difficult to get contraception.
Is any lie too big for Rick Santorum to tell? After listening to this hate filled religious fanatic, this pathetic, disgusting excuse for a candidate -- do we have anyone who fails to understand why the people in Pennsylvania threw him out of office by more than a 2 to 1 margin?
I understand completely because I am from Pennsylvania. If he gets the GOP nomination, Pennsylvania will secede from the Republican party. He is the biggest hypocrite the world has ever seen as well as the biggest liar. What a sorry excuse for a human being.
Do you think there will be an opportunity to throw out those already elected to the House and Senate? These useless presidential candidates are only following the perceived political gains from the 2010 election. Everyone now knows they were elected based on lies and promises they had no intention of working towards. First order of business will be to get the jobs President Obama has failed to achieve.
We have had smoke blown up our collective butts for far too long. We need to kick some useless butts out in November.
I'm from NH and "Live Free or Die" is not a rally cry statement by Teapublicans. They stole the expression because they stand for nothing at all.
JBURNS.....agree to a point. Let's not forget that the Republicans have been obstructionists from day 1. Obama could have done much more with any kind of help. Still think he saved the U.S. from a much worse fate. Obama really cares about his country. Those that have race as their main concern.....I feel for. I simply know our President is the right one at the right time for a country that really needs a person that can bring us together again. No doubt.
What is wrong with this man? He makes statements that do not make sense. This latest is just nonsense. What happened to a civil, reasonable Republican candidate = or Republican party at least.
Koch Brothers took all of them over. The real civil, reasonable Republican is either dead, or in an old folks home. The baggers took the puggies over. Hell even the GOP members on the ethic committee resigned, without saying why. I think Maxine Waters had more dirt on them then they did on her, and she called their bluff and raised. So they folded. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. (I use that weeeeeeeeee because of the Geico ads. I love it.
I ♥ Maxwell & his pinwheel!
What happened is that in the Civil Rights Era, the racist evangelical Dixiecrats moved over to the party in droves. They worked with the Party elites to form a coalition. The Neo-cons arose. They have a master plan to become a one-party country. They want to secure the states to the Republicans and starve the Federal government out of existence. All power will then reside in the hands of the 1 %. This is a disastrously stupid agenda that the real American People, a diverse and kind community that values self-determination and freedom, will never go along with. Why would we willingly become their slaves? Meanwhile, as this is becoming evident, the GOP has doubled down on their plan. There is no room in their party for reason, thus no reasonable Republicans remain.
NC Open Heart........The level of paranoia running through your post is amazing in the extreme.....There can never be only one party as the entire system is predicated on the fact that human beings do not all agree on everything.....The Civil Rights Era has given minorities a greater voice at all levels of government. Since Rosa Parks and Dr Martin Luther King Jr, we have seen many more minority members holding mayorships, governorships, senator and representative seats, and even a minority candidate win the presidency.....The federal government needs to go on an extremely strict diet, as it cannot possible be all things to all people all of the time. It is a physical impossibility as well as a notion completely contrary to the constitution defining its roles....Here is hoping that you take note of the new items today regarding Great Britain and the fact that their tax rate for the 99% has just gone to 50% of their gross income (that is the working folks, not the wealthy) and it is questionable whether or not that tax rate can withstand the costs incurred by a welfare society and a nanny state. It is not only the wealthy who have to pay for all of this...one of the great reasons that the middle class is shrinking is due to supporting social programs that middle class people are being forced down into. A family earning 50K per year is not considered overly wealthy by the standards of the posters in this feed, but yet how many 50K per year jobs remain at all???? How many families have lost their homes because a 50K job was replaced with a 20K job......Big business will pay me a wage and some benefits as long as I am a benefit to the business.....How is that different from a government paying me welfare as long as I am somehow viable to the government? Aren't they both forms of slavery....I prefer business, because at least they don't presume to tell me how to live my life outside of business hours.
I have been saying since the early 90's to put Prozac in the water in AMerica, now I am up to antipsychotics.
We are nuts here.
Another reason for universal health coverage. But then again Big Pharma will wager a no-bid contract with our elected officials. There is already a chemical compound in the DC water supply. How else to explain?
:-)
"One of the things that you don't know about ObamaCare in one of the mandates is they require free prenatal testing," Santorum began telling about 400 people here. "Why? Because free prenatal testing ends up in more abortions and, therefore, less care that has to be done, because we cull the ranks of the disabled in our society. That too is part of ObamaCare -- another hidden message as to what president Obama thinks of those who are less able than the elites who want to govern our country."
Just when you think their lies can't get any uglier.. can't get any more egregious.. can't get any more Un-Christian.. can't get any more distant from the truth.. they speak!
Doink... Huh?!
it's gonna get a lot uglier....
All I can say is, keep speaking Santorum. Between his theological proclamations and his billionaire's aspirin comments, the general public are finally understanding why Dan Savage took him to task on Google. "Ricky don't lose that number" to your millionaire. We want you to keep the swell in your pants growing and the surge in your rear spewing as you educate the voters on your policies and ideas. While he may tickle the nipples of the tea party, he is quickly turning off the general public.
Rick's tin foil hat seems to be coming loose.
Santorum looks down on the poor, blacks, women, gays, hispanics and anyone else who isn't rich, white and male. How anyone can say he is even remotely credible is a mystery to me. Without a doubt mentally ill
Rick (booby hatch) Sanatorium..belongs in a sanatorium for the mentally ill along with with all his crazed followers!! Especially the EC doomsday wacko's!!!
I guess Ricky doesn't see the value in repairing in utero a defect that if left unattended would kill the baby. That is one reason for prenatal testing. What a maroon
Skookum Jim, please don't insult maroons by likening Santorum to them. They're not 100-percent pure white and may not like the comparison.
Also, even morons and idiots (please excuse the pre-PC terms) might resent the claim that Santorum's intelligence is on a level with theirs.
Frothy for president, with the BS he spouts? I don't think so, but keep running Frothy, we need the entertainment you provide.
No disrespect to the disabled already out there, but proactively reducing more disabled people sounds like a great idea to me. Save the parents heartache and stress, and save society money at the same time. Besides, Santorum is just pissed off at the thought of reducing the number of dead babies to take home and play with for a few days.
Be careful. My daughter was born with Cystic Fibrosis. Heartache and stress, yes. But to reduce the memories of disabled children to a dollar and cents premise.......obviously you deserve a place on the all male panel discussing family planning.
BTW genetic testing was not available when she was born. I would have carried to term anyway. And I am staunchly pro choice.
Candy - Yes, but it was your choice. Santorum doesn't want us to have a choice. There are a lot of people who couldn't handle the stress and/or expense of a disabled child, so it would just end up in the system. And the system is not well prepared to take on disabled children either.
Oh, wait, Santorum wants to take away the system, too. So then what will happen to the disabled children (and their parents)?
NFIL-What I wrote was a personal perspective. I totally agree with you about the system. And I totally agree about Santorum wanting to take away the "system." Maybe something got lost in the crosshairs of blog. To be clear: I am definitely pro choice and anti taking away programs which help disabled children and the parents. Period. I speak from experience. Santorum doesn't have the moral clue to even begin talking about issues of the well being of children or women's right to their own bodies.
Please just don't refer to a child as "it."
First: Candy, best wishes to you and your daughter, who are obviously tough as can be.
Behind Rick Santorum's tiny, dead eyes is a creature that clearly does not regard others as live humans, unless they mirror his limited way of thinking. This man is a sociopath, and I pity his children even more than I pitied the Palin children -- which is saying a lot.
Though the promotion of sociopathic behavior has been the hallmark of the GOP since they started courting the religious right, you have wonder how the Republican puppet masters are going to deal with this nutball if he becomes their Presidential candidate.
As my husband is given to saying, "Every time you think the Republicans can't go any lower, they manage to pull another one out of the septic tank."
What an ugly and hurtful thing to say to Mothers of America. You get prenatal care and exams to decide if you are going to keep your child or not. What an insult to women.
keep your child or not? is a child a plaything?
As insulting to you as Issa's recent hearings?????
Or the recently enacted Virginia law?
Or Christies lastest vetor?????
Priorities!
I have commented on all of these issues in the past. I was enraged by the Issa's hearing and said so. Christies veto makes me furious, I also commented on that. The aspirin comment made me furious ( why didn't he tell men to put an aspirin between their legs ). Its all bad, but todays comments attacked a womens intelligence and the decisions she makes about her health and her babies health.
At the core of the entire conservative anti-abortion, anti-contraceptive, anti-women's rights is the ugly concept of forcing women to bring every pregnancy to term no matter what. It's still all about patriarchal, authoritarian control of women and keeping them in their place as second class citizens no matter what rationalizations with which the atavistic male chauvinists try to obscure that fact. It's still all daddy knows best crap...and what's really psychotic is that Virginia is passing legislation that will allow daddy to rape his daughters with a probe if she misbehaves. Think about it.
Instead of the woman holding the aspirin between her knees, I think guys like Issa and Santorum should have it shoved up their penis, let all their sperm back up and clog up the head most of them seem to think with.
Then again, maybe that's the cause of their strange thinking in the first place...
I have had prenatal care under Bush and Clinton administrations in Nyc. I was absolutely pushed to have the amniocentesis in both cases. I was too old to have a healthy baby according to these experts. My Scientist mother, however, warned me of the high risk of losing the baby during this procedure. I refused and signed on the dotted line.
I was, however, glad to have my weight checked and any other non-invasive activities. In the end, I had 2 healthy babies. I did my own research and ate foods that were connected to healthy births. Grains, greens , some organic meats , legumes, and loads of exercise.
I understand what Rick is trying to say. I was appalled while being grilled about all the risks involved with my births. He just isn't saying it right. Most of the other things that he says don't make sense, I agree.
Santorum stuck his foot in his mouth again today... I can't believe he could be that stupid, He said, "There has always been inequality in America... There always will be, AND THAT'S THE WAY IT SHOULD BE." After saying that contraception should be banned .. and now this. I think all the pressures of running for president is getting to him. I've heard people ask "Is he running for president or running for Pope."
"We hold these truths to be self-evident;
"That ALL ... are created equal..."
Yet he is all for inequality????
Certainly does NOT sound very American to me.
Don't forget that the GOP is invested with fundamentalists (they don't consider context or cultural norms the time of the writing). These gents have a perverted sense of "All men are created equal".
I do believe that abortion is wrong, but a greater sin is to dictate what another human being must do with their body.
Ricky - if you can read this..... If you support free contraception and accurate sex education, you will be reduce the abortion rate. Try offering a solution instead of judgement.
As a side note, I would love to find a T-shirt with Ricky's picture and the text "American Taliban"
For the GOP, especially the religious GOP, the phrase "All men are created equal" is taken LITERALLY. The religious majority in the GOP only think MEN are created equal and WOMEN should never be considered.
In the Religious GOP mindset women are never equal and should be subservient to the men popping out babies, taking care of kids, cleaning the house, making dinner and doing whatever men tell them to do without question.
Just look at Santorum he proves that with everything that slithers out of his mouth.
Many people that can walk and chew gum would dispute Santorum on every policy stance he has.
The flawed logic is preposterous, what is absolutely ludicrous is the notion any GOP candidate cares about Americans at all.
Santorum the Vatican candidate once again is out of touch with 88% of the people of the USA ..His silly cult beliefs make him ANTI AMERICAN..he will divide the USA not unite us !
Santorum should keep talking...
You are right. He is totally on a roll. I thought Friess' aspirin nonsense couldn't be topped. I was wrong.
Santorum doesn't need to keep talking. There is enough already on audio and visual to expose what a jerk he is. NFIL: you are not alone. For weeks it is day to day thinking the nonsense cannot be topped. I have been proven wrong over and over.
It is like the GOP has a suicide pact.
Please let him keep talking. Laughing is a healthy emotion that I express whenever Rick speaks. Don't deprieve me, he's almost comedic.
Dumb and stupid. Boy he is nothing but fodder for SNL and Jon Stewart Daily Show. can't wait to see it tonight
He has lost his mind!
Like he had one to begin with!
The majority of the people here agree, Santorum is a nut, but the people that think he's right about the things he says is just as nutty as he is, maybe even more so. The truly terrible things he says about women and to have some women believe him is really mind-boggling. Republicans want to make President Obama a one term president, but the best they can come up with to run against him is Bozo the clown!!!
Please,please,please,please,please,please,please,please,please,please,please nominate this idiot Teanuts.
PLEASE.
Santorum has a deep distrust of the intellect and decency of women, as well as an impulse to control their bodies and their care providers. Apparently some women he knows are out to get pregnant, just so they can go through an abortion. Perhaps he could head them off and stop Obama's plot to create an Aryan race by providing contraception for those unequal, subordinate, bloodthirsty women.
All you have to do is use your eyes with this guy. He looks all pampered and well fed while his poor wife looks just exactly as if she's been barefoot and pregnant in his kitchen for YEARS. The daughter on stage all the time looks bewildered. That's how Rick likes 'em......
LOL, I am thinking about writing a book about what compassionate conservative means but I am not sure it is a good idea yet. However I am interested in hearing what my fan club thinks so yes I'll try writing a book.
Wake up people! The last time I checked we're in the 21st century. Ever hear of fetal surgery to repair birth defects discovered by prenatal testing?
How dumb can some people get by hating and not doing their own research. The repubs wants to put America back into the 1950's.
I respectfully disagree. They want to take America back further than the 1950's.
Well, they want the 1860s, but they're settling for the 1950s.
Yes -- My healthy, thriving twin grand-neices will soon celebrate their 3rd birthday because prenatal testing identified and made it possible to correct a serious problem that otherwise would have (not might have) resulted in losing them both before birth.
Santorum gets more absurd and frightening each time he opens his mouth.
Yes the 50's the 1250's
try 15th century so he can bring back the Spanish Inquisition in which he can be the Grand Inquisitor...
Nicely put, magster. Excellent point based on real life experience.
