Santorum to pick up endorsement from former OH senator

Sources close to the Santorum campaign confirm that Ohio Attorney General -- and former U.S. Sen. -- Mike DeWine (R) will switch his endorsement from Mitt Romney to Rick Santorum today.

An announcement is scheduled for 2:00 pm ET, in Columbus, Ohio.

DeWine endorsed Romney in October; previously he had been a Pawlenty supporter.

DeWine served in the U.S. Senate with Santorum; in fact, both lost their races for re-election in the Democratic sweep of 2006.

The Ohio AG and former US Senator Mike DeWine has just announced he is changing his endorsement from Romney to Santorum.

The hits just keep coming for Romney and BTW he is behind in recent polls in Ohio. According to the latest Rasmussen poll Santorum leads Romney by 18 points, 42 to 24.

But that still leaves one-in-three Ohioans looking someone else to vote for.

Shouldn't DeWine have waited until a little closer to the primary? I mean, if Romney manages to knock Santorum down with the mud gun he'll have to switch his endorsement back!

Holy Crap! Can't this guy make up his mind?

DeWine endorsed Romney in October; previously he had been a Pawlenty supporter.

...and if Santorum fades does he switch back to Romney or the next flavor of the month? Looks like Mike sure knows how to pick'em. This guys endoresment is about as good as the Donald's... the "kiss of death". Speaking of the kiss of death when is Palin going to switch over to Ricky?

In my party, the Independent (thinking) party, it seems as thought the GOP is pulling the whole political spectrum further right to the point that a Democratic administration can employ neo-conservative tactics and still maintain support.

I'd say they're getting most of what they want by doing this.

Buck, The Democratic Party accepts everyone to be sure so you are going to have to except the liberals and the tree huggers too. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with others views but saying that all of us want to live off the government teat is silly. you are a socialist?

If government assistance programs are your definition of socialism (although definitely not a political-science or Merriam Webster's!) then you have a very small fraction of the population which isn't 'socialist'.

You're welcomed to go live with those guys. They'll either be

      A) wealthy enough they didn't need Pell Grants to get through college or flat-out uneducated.

      B) Wealthy enough they didn't need a 'day job' or had a lucrative piece of business interest that they immediately got a job from (family business)

      C) Wealthy enough to afford all medical and retirement expenses out of pocket.

Well, I didn't attack. I did raise some points which you didn't refute, though.

But I'll even go a bit further right on this one.

"Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and render unto God That Which is God's." - On taxes and secularism.

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." - On insulting people, villifying them, calling names and generally being accusatory.

"From he who is given much, much will be required." - On taxes and socio-economic justice.

So. I've noticed your penchant to pray, I do hope you have a penchant to read the Holy Bible too. Defamatory remarks, demagoguery and assaults on others are pretty well-covered there. Under the very simple headline 'Don't do it.'

Proverbs - the lack of respect you received correlates to your lack of respect for the president. You claim to want a better future for your children. The distribution of wealth to the upper 1% has lead to the decline of the middle class and the implosion of lower classes. This started with Reagan's famous trickle down economic policies. It is these policies that will leave your children a questionable future, a society that is quickly losing its ability to climb the social ladder.

The leading cause of bankruptcy in this country is medical care. Obama is trying to combat this economic problem by granting access to health care for all. Yet, you and your ilk scream this is socialism. Bank reforms are also policies designed to stop the redistribution of wealth to the upper classes. And again, you and your ilk scream socialism.

How can you say you want a better future for your children in one statement, then turn around and criticize every policy designed to ensure just that? Why not tell it like it is .. you SUPPORT redistribution of wealth to the upper class, you support the reduction of the middle class, you support policies that grow the lower classes.

Face it, you could care less about upward mobility opportunities for your children. You want success exclusively given to the wealthy.

I can see I am in the wrong league with the likes of you rocket scientists lol. (that is correct)

This is the reason our country is in the shape it is in. (pretty good shape because we have a smart man in the White House now)

Between the group of you's, you may be able to change a light bulb or better yet tie each other's shoes. (we will tie your shoes too)

I think you and your followers are nothing more than a radical right cult that is very dangerous to our country. That's why I'm so glad that people like Santorum will never ever be elected as President of the United States.

My goodness, Proverbs...where did you go to school? Am I going to have to correct all your comments for grammar and spelling? (You didn't seem very grateful the first time.)

It's not very nice to belittle the others here for their intelligence, is it? You won't make many friends that way.

Gt - Thanks be to God I never once had to use Govt, I worked and opened businesses and gave people jobs, gave to charities, built shelters for homeless on and on and in return was Blessed even more I understand people need Govt help in dire needs but alot of people abuse it, and when a society depends on Govt it becomes a weak nation, true fact.

      Proverbs 16

Gt - Thanks be to God I never once had to use Govt,

You never drove on a public road? Never went to a public school? Never went to the local library? Never ate food that was inspected by the FDA? Never flew in an airplane?

      Where do you live?

I worked and opened businesses and gave people jobs, gave to charities, built shelters for homeless on and on and in return was Blessed even more

All past tense...? Why is that?

I understand people need Govt help in dire needs but alot of people abuse it, and when a society depends on Govt it becomes a weak nation, true fact.

No one would disagree with that, but how are you are in a position to judge who abuses government help and who honestly needs it? What about minor children?

teknishan- read the above posts they are the one who belittled me first, but i get a good laugh out of it. It is just more proof that most on here are not really sensible people. I have every right to express my freedom of speech about our current Leader who in the near future will take that away also. All I did was what everyone else did and expressed my freedom of speech and instead of debating me they belittled. So as I look at it is an Eye for an Eye

When a man's ways please the LORD,

he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Doesn't sound like the poster who calls him or herself 'Proverbs 16' has noticed he or she hasn't inspired much peace on this blog.

      Proverbs,

You might want to evaluate your debating technique. Starting off with a deliberately inflammatory statement like "Barack Hussein Bin Laden Obama, is a socialist dictator" is hardly an effective way to establish meaningful discourse.

"read the above posts they are the one who belittled me first"

"Face it Barack Hussein Bin Laden Obama, is a socialist dictator, But I understand why you simpletons like him"

      Consider your self stricken, Heathen.

reddevps- Not even close, I was born and raised in middle class, people that worked sometimes 2 jobs to make ends meet. I am all for middle class I am not dem or rep I believe this is the best country in the world because a person can do what ever they want and make as much as they want. Over the years I have donated, gave away, lent, helped many only because I was able to make it. If our Govt is so concerned about us why do they worry about other countrys needs. And keep allowing more and more illegals in,Take care of ours first, children hungry, people homeless, robbing, raping, elderly who worked their whole life and have to worry if they will have social security in the future, bottom line take care of ours first.

Whew! Although I usually enjoy the give and take and back and forth displayed on these First Read pages, I must admit that sometimes the close mindedness of both sides really makes me tired.

Sometimes I become so engrossed in your warring comments that I forget what the article was about to begin with, which is the case here.

Thank goodness I just remembered this article is about Santorum being endorsed by some former Ohio senator. And I say, so ......................

I believe there will be quite a few GOP Senators and Congressman referred to as "former" after November. That includes the soon to be "former" Speaker of the House John Boehner and a few Governors, too. ;-)
