Chief Santorum backer's eyebrow-raising comment on contraception

The Santorum supporter comments on the culture wars over contraception use saying, "Back in my days, they [woman] used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives."

Foster Friess -- a prominent Santorum supporter and one of the chief benefactors of a pro-Santorum Super PAC -- today made a statement on contraception that's already raising plenty of eyebrows.

Friess told NBC's Andrea Mitchell on "Andrea Mitchell Reports":

This contraceptive thing, my gosh, it's so inexpensive. Back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees, and it wasn't that costly.

The obvious suggestion by Friess: that women should put an aspirin between their legs so they don’t open them.

And these are exactly the type of right wing moral crusaders that you need to keep away from the neighbor kids.

For obvious reasons.

So you all are pushing birth control and abortion to save the poor child from those poor parents that cannot support him or do not want him so he will not be one more person on welfare, AND YOU CALL ME A RACIST. YOU LIBERALS DON'T KNOW WHETHER YOU ARE COMING OR GOING. BTW, I used that because it was actually proposed back in the 70s with basically the same results.

"I'll make a deal though. If we could get certain minorities to agree to be sterilized I would agree to help pay them a premium."

That pretty much makes you a racist.

It ain't funny when you have to explain it to somebody that is too dumb to understand. For those of you that have had heterosexual coitus you know that in most cases such as the missionary position the man keeps his legs together more or less and slides himself in between the woman's legs. If the woman has the aspirin clasp between her knees and keeps it there the male will be unable to accomplish the proper position to accomplish penetration while if the male has the aspirin between his knees that would facilitate penetration. UNDERSTAND NOW OR DO WE NEED TO DRAW PICTURES FOR YOU?

Willing to come on here and defend your view points, why don't you also defend yourselves against those who are acting/commenting on your behalf. Take for example Rick312779, he's making a lot of racist and really nasty comments. These are being taken as representation of your views as a whole. Do you agree with Rick312779? Silence is a yes. Speak up or against these types of racist bigots. Show you have some humanity left in you as a Party. Can You?

Republicans, Rick312779 makes it easy for everyone to make a connection between Republicans and a fascination with racism types of society such as Hitler's Germany. The hateful intolerance is beyond normal for the Republican Party. It's reached a dangerous level where those in your party start to fill empowered to act out in violence. What has happened to Republicans? Now you are also attacking women. Amazing.

Then take the 10 clowns that are left, and turn them loose on each other. One by one, they rise to the top only to be analysed and rejected. Each ruining his or her brand in the process. Now lets recap..Herman,a joke, same with Michelle,Ricky Ooops,Newty..etc,etc. Now there is only one person left with the name recognition to jump in and save the day...yep...read my posts from two weeks ago,I called it...Sarah is going to run !!! This will be the crowning moment of a perfectly pitiful performance by the GOP. It will result in the end of Sarah's political career, however pathetic it was,it will sink the GOP brand for years,it will cost the gop seats in both house and Senate, and most importantly,it will guarantee four more years of President Obama. God Bless you Sarah.

There are people who will vote Democrat or Republican regardless who is running for that party.

Those that always vote Republican are coupled with the racists that would NEVER vote for a black man.

So the Republicans are going for the religious morons who vote on one issue, or morons in general.

I don't think they will have enough votes.

Thank you Foster Fries for demonstrating exactly why I felt I needed to
step in and teach the religious right wing section of the GOP which a lesson.

You comment about using "Aspirin for contraceptives" completely
misses the entire point of the debate and is meant to cheapen
the view of women. I tolerated some of the stupid Archie comments 20 years
ago when I was previously in the GOP because I felt that this country needs to incorporate
conservative values. However conservative values is not make snide dehumanizing
remarks about Hilary Clinton and Nacy Pelosi. It is about arguing the
Conservative view and why the conservative approach would have been a better solution.
The GOP party has been gradually loosing a 50% voting block because of this unwise hardline approach which will result in Barack Obama winning the 2012 election if they continue. I am many women are tired of this group. I throw my vote to Barack Obama currently until the religious right learns some manners or a leader from one of the other section of the GOP shows promise. If the GOP wants to sell the 2012 election they need an approach more like Morning Joe's which is a sound reason argument approach not a dehumanizing one.

Let me try to vocalize the real issue which is lost in the silly backhanded remarks. There is a
new product coming to market called Plan B which concerns all parents but even more so
the over protective parents in the religious right. There are 3 concerns with the product

                                        1) It is not a preventative product, but get out of jail free card. It is to them a license to there daughter to have (unplanned for some) sex without suffering consequences.
They feel that this could lead to their daughters loosing their moral integrity and could
result in their daughters being promiscuous and losing something far worse their soul.

                                        2) Are the medical concerns that if the emergency contraceptive is used after the recommended time the product may hurt a fetus and their daughter could pick up STDs
by being promiscuous. In the community the Plan B use correctly is probably ok if used correcly.

                                        3) Also, there is an argument which most of the conservative that most of us agree with. We don't want to pay for someone else's unlimited use of get out of jail free cards. We are tired of paying across the board for someone else's unlimited get out of jail cards. The key word here is UNLIMITED.

Most conservative have accepted other women's birth control prescriptions before because they required planning, parent approval, and were not a get out of jail free card after each use. They we not a pill that could be and is sold over the counter. They think they had an abortion argument because of pamphlets sent out by and extreme pro-life group.

This group is extremely upset with Barack Obama changing where this product would be sold at
because it was supposed to go over the counter. If it went over the counter the other members
of the religious community could not keep an eye on purchases and watch for baby birds wandering
to far from the nest. They also feel that since the product was made free for their daughters (not them) 1) by being covered by the insurance and 2) that the ObGyn is now required to issue without parent approval they will loose their ability to guide their daughter back to a safer path.

However there is another more extreme pro-life group of individuals who do not officially associate
themselves with the GOP or the religious right but have extreme influence the religious right. This group has been pushing for the "life begins at conception" in order to battle this new product because they feel that the product will be misused and will result in the unthinkable abortion which they are amendmently opposed to. They are so opposed to abortion that they send annoying non stop phone calls to any doctor or factility that even remotely attempts to allow the abortion. In other words they are playing
a business move to make the product undesirable so they shut down availability. This would
have been easy to do for Plan B because it was supposed to go over the counter and they are very good at pushing pressure on businesses to decide what products they will and will not offer by offending customers with bad advertising. They did and are still doing this to Planned Parenthood.

Barack Obama was not trying to upset the religious right but he was trying to protect some young women who were raped or in situations where the young woman would have a far more severe punishment from her family such as death if found out from a phone call greeting group or wound up on the news or on a medical bill. These cases are the target audience for the Plan B. So the prescription coverage was added to protect these girls and to keep the store market from being closed not to provide all girls with get out of jail free card.

The Catholic group from religious right is trying to argue religious convictions, but was forced to take extreme stance on birth control because of legal definitions because they are preparing to go to court. They are all not usually this rude, but they have been upset with the Affordable Care Act and the presumption it presents that the US government knows best how to take care of their daughters.

I was trying to present a case to the religious right and some extreme-pro life that they should perhaps review their hard stances and to stop being rude or they would loose the 50A% women voting block and their hard views were causing kids to not seek or be able to seek help they needed.

In this case Barack Obama tripped on his own Affordable Healthcare Act. Barack Obama added the original birth control law in order to allow the undeserved area women to start to get them again. Those victims lost their ability to get that care because the extreme pro-life group shut down the facilities they were using (Planned Parenthood) which got funding as part of a bill Richard Nixon (a Republican) signed into law. Also Barack is forcing everyone to provide the service and coverage because he is trying to hide the target from the extreme-pro-life. I stepped in because I do not want to see this children hurt anymore than they already have been and I do not want to see attacks move over to all ObGyn which are already far too low in numbers in the country. This again is thank to the tactics of the extreme-pro-life.

Most of us conservatives find the Affordable Healthcare Act over reaching with its application of who must provide what and cover what. It overly complicates the issue. If Barack Obama had taken a less government intrusive approach by talking to the business leaders, the business community could have put financial pressure on the religious based medical facilities in the undeserved areas, by adding customer friendly non religious facilities which would help put pressure on the religious community to back down because this problem is a typical problem seen between competitors in the business world. Also the business community funds through charities many of the religious facilities in these areas and I think the business community may be able to reevaluate funding as a leverage for negations if the unbending extremes continue with their position. However that is just my thought on the issue.

The religious right has an opportunity to do something for the people (not the government) by defining what is in the religious opinion on acceptable use of plan B for their flocks. If the definition appears to be a rational well thought out, reasoned and based on facts which everyone woman can check the religious right would be doing everyone a great service without costing the US government anything. Just my opinion. This is not the government asking this is the women section of the religious flocks who want to be heard.

The only problem with that that conservatives will be presenting a rational well thought out, reasoned and based on facts plan to irrational, knee jerk reactionaries who could not care less about facts.

Before I make my decision on how to proceed, I would like to see a policy which reflects that the religious organizations support Plan B in limited use to emergency contraception. I would like to see that emergency use always includes rape, abuse and is limited to some number of times out per year. You can state that other stuff ... with something like we understand that our definition can only be used by our flock, but are willing to accept the broader definition for other congregations and we frown upon inflicting our view of this onto other congregations. You could also add that we would keep a compassionate eye out on a case by case basis where needed.

If I see a statement like this, then I know and I think other women watchers will know that they are not threatened by the churches stance. I think that would also be a good starting point for negotiating with Elizabeth Warren and other female members of congress a solution which includes a women's point of view which all organizations can follow on the birth control. I believe this is a solution that most in the pro-life side would agree with too and most in the pro-choice as well which would allow that rift to heal. If we work together I believe having Plan B come in the US will help greatly reduce the number of times the option which no one likes abortions even brought into heated debates. However I understand that the pro-life movement is concerned with making sure it is only used for emergency contraception. I think this is the best interest in everyone and I feel that it would help restore some of the faith that has been dwindling in both the ability of the people to control their destiny and restore the faith in the congregation of the religious organizations that they are treating women as equal citizens with a right to be heard.

I will then get off the topic unless I see additional attempts to undermine medical services from women in this country.

I would then like to see a discussion around Sarbanes Oxyley and reducing the number requirement in it. I understand that it intention was to provide stability to the stock market, however the number of regulations in the plan are requiring a high cost on start up companies which have not been able to use the funding the public market usually supplies to them. I believe working on this regulation to reduce it to needed regulation without extra paperwork would help reduce the requirement for small businesses to get to market which will encourage job growth. However I will just be watching on that issue.

To women birth control is not about sex. It is about the high risk imposed by pregnancy which are only imposed on women not men. If we are able to control when the pregnancy occurs we are so overjoyed with the rewards that we are happy to take the risk.

Women have the choice to have sex or not, but both sex partners have a responsibility to each other. The pill is a form of contraception, however, it is not 100% full proof, it has possible side effects and it does not prevent disease. So go right ahead, do your thing, just do not require me to have ins that provides that pill. You want it you pay for it. Better yet instead of falling for "if you loved me you would" BS you would counter "if you love me you would wear a condom and get a snip snip. Spreading your legs is your stupid choice.
