Santorum, Romney allies going all-in in Michigan

UPDATED 6:20 PM ET...
The game of Poker in Michigan between Romney and Santorum allies just got a little richer.

The pro-Romney Super PAC Restore Our Future just bought up almost another $1 million in ad time in Michigan, bringing its overall buy so far to about $3.2 million, according to NBC/Republican ad-tracking firm Smart Media Group Delta.

This follows the Santorum campaign pushing more of its own chips in, adding $438,000 in ads in Michigan for the next two weeks, closing the gap with Romney and his allies somewhat.

Those buys followed a big $652,000 ad buy made earlier by the pro-Santorum Super PAC Red White and Blue Fund -- financed largely by Santorum supporter Foster Freiss.

Here's the current overall Michigan spending:

Pro-Romney: $3.2 million (Romney campaign $1.2 million; Restore Our Future $2 million)
Pro-Santorum: $1.1 million (Santorum $480,000; Red, White, and Blue Fund: $655,000)

SOURCE: NBC/Smart Media Group Delta

Restore shelled out another $2 million for the week after next on broadcast in Arizona, Ohio, Georgia, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama. Restore has now crossed the $20 million threshold for total ad spending this campaign -- $20.8 million.

Romney's campaign has now spent $13.4 million, bringing pro-Romney spending to a grand total of $34.2 million.

The next closest is $7.8 million in pro-Gingrich ads ($5.1 from Winning Our Future and $2.7 million from the campaign); then it's $6.1 million for Ron Paul; and $4.2 million for Santorum ($2.1 million apiece for the campaign and Red, White, and Blue Fund).

I'm a deeply religious person and try not to push my believes on anyone. I'm tired of hearing about separation of Church and State but never about separation of State and Church. The government needs to get out of religion and the religion needs to get out of politics. And no I'm not a Democrat or Republican! They both leave a nasty taste in my mouth.....

Government isn't in religion. Take the contraception issue, not once does the government say you have to buy or use contraception, it just says the insurance carriers have to make it availabe.

If the Catholics who are opposed to contraception don't want to use it, they don't have to, and never will.

I love it when people same government is intruding, when they never intrude. Intruding would be "saying your can't have an abortion", in that case the government does tell you want you can and cannot do....but saying something is available if you want to use it is hardly intruding.

Historically, the ONLY way right-wing mobs have maintained control is by distorting the truth and misleading the citizenry.

Imagine what it would sound like if right-wing candidates told the truth about their policies.

Senator Buffoon: "Hi, I'm running for office and I wanted to tell you about my platform. First, I want massive tax cuts for the ultra rich so they will donate more to my future campaigns and give me huge kick-backs and a obscenely paid position after I tire of fleecing the people.

"Second, I want to deregulate every f-ing industry I can get my hands on so BIG BUSINESS can run wild and do any and every destructive thing they can think of. We might even extend the tax credits to MEGACORPS like GE for exporting millions of jobs.

"Third, we will make up some science just because the real thing doesn't support our anti-environment stance. Who needs clean air and water anyway after I am dead and gone.

"Fourth, remember all those government programs that actually help people? You can forget that crap. If the poor and indigent can't pay Mitt Romney's income taxes for him then we will turn them over to the right-wing Flordians for a swift a efficient "final solution."

"Fifth, can't afford an education at the highest levels and most costly institutes? Too bad. You don't deserve one anyway. You also don't get any help with health care costs, job training, job placement or food stamps. That makes you less than human so off to Florida with you."

"Sixth, we can fix the courts. We already own most of them with our collection of kangaroos working for all sorts of mega corps. We made sure people can't do any harm to our corps or hold them accountable for nothing and justice is for those who can afford it.

"That is so over rated, that accountability thing. Who needs it? It didn't work for W and his collection of incompetents, so I say Americans don't want any accountability, oversight or efficient, working government. A lawless, chaotic society offers so many opportunities for abuse and corruption. Embrace it!

"I almost forgot. That infrastructure thing we have ignored since anti-Saint Ronny opened this holy economic class warfare? Now we need about $10 Trillion just to repair the things we should have maintained all along since 1981. Forget that crap, too. Sell ya a national park out west for mining purposes. Or an unsafe bridge in upstate New York.

"Remember my name. I am Senator Buffoon, a proud right-winger, a veteran class warrior, and have I got a boat load of composite to feed all you idiots. So, vote for me. besides, this might be the last free and open election in this country now that the ultra wealthy and Megacorps can now thankful buy any sham election they want or turn it into a parody of democracy,

"A vote for Buffoon is a vote for more destruction of our once proud society!"

If Romney loses his home state of Michigan, despite outspending Santorum 2 to 1, he's gone! Even a close win will tell the American voters loads about the opinions held by folks of Mitt Romney, folks who've had years to observe him and, throughout that time, to evaluate his character!

You'll have some explaining to do when you finally meet your maker, and he's not going to go easy on you.

Yeah right,  and was it devine intervention for Perry, Bachmann, Cain, Gingrich, et al. ? Trust me no one in their right mind, even god, wants this creep in office.  There's a reason he was voted out of office in Pennsylvania, because he's a nutball.  Throw his fanatic religious nutsiness and he doesn't stand a chance.  Trust me, the corporations have spoken and the nominee will be (dare I say it????) the MORMON GUY!

And you'll be able to thank jesus when it's all over...LOL

Well if by "leads the polls" you mean "at least 14 points down and losing all the swing states by wide margins except maybe Ohio" then, yes, sure. Reflect on the difficulties of being that far down against an incumbent candidate who hasn't even bothered to start fighting back yet. When people see the depth of Santorum's theocratic vision for America, his numbers will crash even further like they did when he lost his senate seat in Pennsylvania. He's as weak a nomination as the GOP could possibly make.

Don-2316123- I can see that you are another one of the misguided, I can see you never checked out his roots, and believe everything you hear like many other misinformed. and as far as meeting my maker I pray for the day to come. His days are numbered so get used to the fact.

It's one thing if you don't like someone's policies, it's quite another to lie about his upbringing. He's more of a Christian than you'll ever be...

And that's great becasue if you can't in in Penn (Lost by 18%) as a Senator running on the same values, you surely won't win in the General...

The irony of the right is quite funny at times. Pro-life, and for the death penalty, want government out of their lives, except abortion, gay rights, or any social issue, want to be strict observers of the constitution, then call for admendments to it in Social issues, complain about the courts, when 90% of the courts of right leaning....and it goes on and on.

Romney was dead meat in Michigan the moment he said "let them fail".

Santorum as part of his plan to bring back manufacturing jobs wants to eliminate taxes on manufacturing, which I admit might be appealing to companies that outsourced to other countries as an incentative. Now, it's interesting, but can you imagine who the right would have taken this proposal if say Obama made it. Wouldn't that be government picking winners and losers.. Isn't that what Santorum said when this administration made loans to startup green companies.

Under Santorum Solandra would have had to pay NO federal taxes..

and of course what is not being reported, is even if santoroum wins in michigan, he could still lose the delegate count for the day, because arizona's primary is also that day, and guess what arizona is a winner take all state, so what ever bum santoorum might get from winning michigan will be wiped out because romney will likely win the delagate count, which is why i don't buy the whole if romney can't win michigan he'll lose, and also remember, much like gingrich was at a disadvnatage, so is santorum also is in virgnia, where eh also doesn't appear on the ballot

Romney has spent 10 times more than his opponents yet he has gone not a bit over the 25% that he has. Santorum is benefiting only because he is not Romney. Ron Paul doesn't count and Gingrich has no place because that's been taken over by his baggage. www.sci-burr.com forsees a Santorum win of the GOP nomination as Gingrich and Paul and eventually Romney falls by the wayside.

This compassionate Christian conservative founded a charity that was actually a bit of a scam. In 2001, following up on a faith-based urban charity initiative around the 2000 GOP convention in Philadelphia, Santorum launched a charitable foundation called the Operation Good Neighbor Foundation. While in its first few years the charity cut checks to community groups for $474,000, Operation Good Neighbor Foundation had actually raised more than $1 million, from donors who overlapped with Santorum's political fund raising. Where did the majority of the charity's money go? In salary and consulting fees to a network of politically connected lobbyists, aides and fundraisers, including rent and office payments to Santorum's finance director Rob Bickhart, later finance chair of the Republican National Committee. When I reported on Santorum's charity for The American Prospect in 2006, experts told me a responsible charity doles out at least 75 percent of its income in grants, and they were shocked to learn the figure for Operation Good Neighbor Fund was less than 36 percent. The charity -- which didn't register with the state of Pennsylvania as required under the law --- was finally disbanded in 2007. Huffington Post

Yeah, its totally unfortunate that the republicans cant see the way it is, with them in charge, we go straight back to the rich for the rich, and screw the rest of you!!! We need change, all right!!! But not, definately not from the republistupids. The only way to fix this mess, is to fire all of the bribe takers in washington, or wherever they have set themselves up nicely? We need to hire men like Joe, he worked at the factory for twenty five years, and lost his job due to the rich bastards that wanted it all. You know the rich idiots i'm talking about, the redumlicans. We need to make Joe the senator from Where ever he comes from. We need to hire Kathy to be the rep from Nev. We need to elect James to be President, he was the President of his own little company that Mittens tore down. We need truth in congress, in the house, in the President!!! For Americas sake, and yours, vote these idiots out, and lets make this the America it once was, Strong!!!!

Sadly - history shows that the politician who spends the most money usually wins. Most would think that all those political ads would not influence a voters choice. It should not - BUT - it does.

But i tell you it's the chevy volt leads the way. Mr grover, the gop, & the rushbo will tell you you don't have to make world class products to be the largest auto mfg in the world & the volt is a waste of time. No. Everybody wants an electric car to pay equivalent $0.85/gallon gas.

Obama beats all of them anyway. There is not a chance for any of these fools we have to choose from.

I'm actually thinking Santorum's the man, kind of like Jimmy Carter, without the brains. Now I wouldn't let him watch my dog, let alone run anything, but he's going to be the GOP representative. Romney just can't find any love in the GOP.....he just needs to take his millions and go back to being what he's always been, someone that feeds of other misfortunes...

Someone want to tell the scummy Party bosses in the Republican camp that attack ads do nothing but reinforce the general consensus that Republicans are the stupidest Politicians on the Planet? These creeps would burn there grandmothers if they could get $2 for the ashes. Romney is finished so he's blowing his Monopoly money trying to scorch his opponents. When are ALL the Campaign organizers going to learn the more you cheat and lie about your opponent, the worse you look. Republicans seem to have the market cornered on fake, exagerated tv ad lies. They really believe by insulting the American peoples intelligence, that is going to win them an election. No wonder Obama won and is going to win again. They have no credibility.

I know that you dont have a clue, but that is no reason to kick someone off this site! Just because you might have made it, that doesn't mean that the repulidums are the best bet. Every time they have been in power, this country take a nose dive! Why? Because they are for the rich, and only the rich, screw the rest of this country! Is that really what you like to see? Look at this mess we are in right now? You think its Obamas fault, No way, its bush's fault. That moron had eight years to screw this country up, and boy howdy did he!!!! I guess you dont remember that he was called the worst President in history? Thats ok, you vote your heart. That is how America works. Stay on this site, you are funny.

Proverbs - No one's going to ever accuse you of being smart..that's for sure. Everything you list here is total BS...

Take Yes we can take God out of schools.

The truth is there is a seperation of Church and State, always has been. But aside from that, name where Obama has personally done anything on this subject, anything. He hasn't by executive decision done anything on this subject, he hasn't even approached the subject.

So exactly describe where he's taken God out of schools. Show me you know something, name the rule, law, executive order he's introduced on this subject.

And I could go through your entire list. The truth is you are not very bright.
