Bachmann suggests she'll wait to endorse GOP nominee

Former '12 GOP candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., joins Morning Joe to discuss life after campaigning, whom she'll support for president, the payroll tax cut, President Obama, and her advice for the remaining '12 candidates.

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann suggested she may wait to endorse whomever wins the Republican nomination in her first appearance Wednesday on MSNBC since dropping out of the presidential race.

"My decision’s already made. I’m on board with whoever the nominee will be, because I’m all in for defeating Barack Obama in the upcoming election," Bachmann said, adding later, "I just think it’s very clear that we haven’t seen any of the candidates make the final sale."

The remarks cast further doubt that Bachmann will make an endorsement in the coming weeks.

(A report in the Boston Globe that Bachmann was in “negotiations” to endorse Mitt Romney days before the Minnesota caucuses won pushback from the Congresswoman herself, who declared the story “completely false.”)

Asked whether her resistance to endorsing is a signal that the field is weak, Bachmann deferred, drawing a parallel to 2008.

"We saw Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton literally giving each other black eyes,” Bachmann said.

“It wasn’t pretty four years ago, on the Democrat side of the ticket,” she continued, adding, “I think once our side decides on a candidate, then we’ll lock arms, we will be all-in together.”

The payroll tax cut fight also came up during her interview.  Bachmann reiterated her opposition to the cut, insisting as she often did during her run that the money was drawn from a “social security trust fund.”

“When you go to the general treasury and open the door to that vault, only moths and feathers fly out.  There’s nothing in there.  We’re broke,” Bachmann said.

Bachmann dropped out of the race on Jan. 4, one day after finishing last among the Republican candidates competing in the Iowa caucuses.

Nothing said about jobs... Nothing about the economy... Nothing about Social Security... Nothing said about health care... I'm surprised that starting a war with, lets say Iran, is not even mentioned...

The only thing that the repubican party is interested in is getting president Obama out of office... Are you kidding me? This is what our country is working towards?

I truly feel that the republican party is a party that is on it's last leg... They just don't get it... America is all about having the ability of moving up in ones life... It's called the middle class that the Reagon people left behind...

J. Merle, it is so sad the amount of hate you carry with you. You hated President Obama even before he was elected and now feel you need to lie about his accomplishments.

Are you telling us you would rather vote for a party that wants to take birth control away from the people and then call it freedom?

Are you telling us you would rather vote for a party that wants to take social security away from the people and then call it freedom?

Are you telling us you would rather vote for a party that wants to raise taxes on the poor to pay for Romney getting more tax cuts?

Are you telling us you would rather vote for a party that wants to spend billions killing people in another country rather than spend money for America?

I find it ironic that the party of pro-war and pro-death thinks they can pass themselves off as pro-life.

You always claimed to be for Hillary, why would you vote against everything she stands for?

But the democrat she's matched up with, for the Minnesota Senate, is giving her a 20pt drubbing in the polling right now.

She's a big fish in a small pond, as she's going to find out in election.

Even Pawlenty is getting drubbed in the same match-up to Amy Klobuchar by about the same margin.

Are you telling us you would rather vote for a party that wants to take birth control away from the people and then call it freedom?

Nobody is taking it away. They just don't want to be forced (mandated) to pay for it. Why is birth control exempted from co-pays?

Are you telling us you would rather vote for a party that wants to take social security away from the people and then call it freedom?

Which party has underfunded SS for the last 2 years through a payroll tax cut and wants a 10 month extension?

Are you telling us you would rather vote for a party that wants to raise taxes on the poor to pay for Romney getting more tax cuts?

Most of the Democratic party want to end the Bush tax cuts. These cuts included lowering the 15% to 10%, increasing the child income benefit to $1000, and eliminating the marriage penalty. Are you supporting these tax increases on the poor? also, the President's current position is to pass the Buffet rule while eliminating the AMT. Only problem is, is that the AMT brings in around 5 times the revenue that is projected for the Buffet rule so the President's plan would actually increase the deficit. You for this?

Are you telling us you would rather vote for a party that wants to spend billions killing people in another country rather than spend money for America?

I guess the kinetic action in Libya doesn't count as spending billions and killing people in another country? I guess those drones that blow up people in Pakistan is an illusion. Those 30,000 troops sent to Afghanistan in 2010 were sent on orders left over from Bush?

It's shocking to see so many people defending this clueless idiot. I do respect that everyone has their own opinion, but...really? You can't support Obama yet you think this hack has the answers? The previous posts who were angry about health care reform can place that blame solely with republicans who denied us a single payer option like the rest of the developed world has. Why are you so against your government taking care of its people?

I grew up in South Dakota, and in that part of the country, there are few liberal areas (I love Oregon!). The only reason she was ever elected in the first place is because she's in a very conservative district. Charles Manson could probably win her district if he had an (R) next to his name. It's always bad to see people vote against their interests because they are told to by Fox.

First of all, I haven't lied about any of Obama's "accomplishments" because he has very, very few, if any at all.

Secondly, try as I might to find all of the things you LIE about with regard to the Republican party; I couldn't find a single one of them on their party platform for 2012.

Lastly, I was a registered Democrat while you were pissing in your diapers, and sucking your momma's tit-milk. Hillary isn't necessarily for ALL the things Obama is. HER health care plan had a public option! HER plan for Iraq called for an earlier withdrawal of our combat troops. She's also married to the man who inspired the largest and longest lasting economic expansion in the history of this country. Obama couldn't shine Bill Clinton's shoes when it comes to economics, and I'll bet at least SOME of that rubbed off on Hillary. I sincerely believe we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now, if SHE was President.

But, instead we have this MORON who can't get out of his own way, and IDIOTS like you who credit him with everything from inventing the airplane to curing AIDS. (Figuratively speaking, of course.....you DO know what that means, right?)

Fact is, Obama hasn't done @!$%#, and doesn't deserve a second term. I'll vote for a Democrat again , when you give me a REAL Democrat, and not a Green Party Puke in a shinny new suite.

By the way folks.....have you seen the things the people on this board call Newt Gingrich, and Mitt Romney, and Rick Santorum.....and then they have the chutzpa to label what someone else says about Obama as "hateful"......"

Totally Unbelievable

Question Rep. Bachmann. Who won four years ago? The Democrat(ic) side.

It was a campaign, a campaign in which Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton quickly stood together on the same team, for the benefit of the country in 2009. And it has worked out very well.

Best of luck with the GOP this campaign season. Count all the votes.

Looks like J. Merle's feefee's are still hurt that Hilary got blown out of the contest by a superior politician. Still harboring the 'grudge' over DNC rules that were broken, eh?

Clara, well said.

There is no comparison to what is happening in the GOP primary and the Democrats in 2008. Democrats liked and respected both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama; no matter which of the two became the nominee, the other side would have rallied behind them. Clinton and Obama did not attack each other's character, they respected each other and they went after the differences in their policies.

Patsy.....if Obama is so "competent", then WHY are we still in a recession (and we are, regardless of what kind of hogwash David Axlerod spews).....? Why aren't more people going back to work? Why do we have almost double digit unemployment after three years of ObamaNOMICS? Why doesn't the health-care bill he signed into law contain a public option? Why did premiums SKYROCKET right after that bill was signed? WHY is it being challenged in the supreme court? WHY is he now going to take Super PAC money after saying he wouldn't, and after saying he wanted corporate money out of political campaigns in Washington DC? WHY did he give special favors to Selig Technology, and Solyndra (two of the Democratic Party's biggest contributors) after saying he wanted to "change" things like that?

Huh, PATSY, can you tell us WHY Obama says one thing, and then does something completely different? WHY DID OBAMA LIE TO US DURING THE CAMPAIGN IN 2008?

She'll probably wait to see who the nominee is, which isn't that dumb a move. Makes her endorsement worthwhile. To endorse someone now, who might not get the nomination, makes her look like a front-runner come election time.

Of course, a welfare check, like the one you get, only goes so far.

Amy, Conservatives know and understand the Constitution very well, that's why so many of us can't stand what obama's doing to it!!!! And don't remind me that he taught Constitutional law in college for a brief time.... I bet even that liberal college would have second thoughts about obama returning in that position!

Hey J. Merle, by now you must know that Feisty speaks out of both ends at the same time. Pole Dance? But I laugh at her statements that you have a bad case of Feisty Fever. Who in their right mind would have a passion for her? Oh, that's right, she states she has a husband - bless his heart.

Your assessment of her is correct though, immature, naive, stupid. But then again, she's the leader of the liberal group of the MSNBC Obama SuperPac.

Since when don't we have the choice to vote for whoever we please, regardless of our political affiliation?

I put my allegiance to the country I live in and love FIRST, and my politicaql affiliation second when selecting a candidate for which to vote.

Obama is BAD for the country and he hasn't done SQUAT to deserve a second term.

But YOU will never admit that.

He could beat up St. Peter in Times Square at high noon, and you would STILL vote for him because you are UNprincipled, you are unsuccessful, and envious of people who work hard and make decent livings for themselves, you HATE America and you want to see it continue to fail.

It's too bad she backed out on Mitt. He could perhaps have had the Donald and the Bat--it on stage endorsing him at the same time. I would think long and hard about taking an endorsement from some of this field. Willard has got that strange quality that might appeal to Michelle. But Santorum is against contraception, so she's got to be tempted by that. Weathervane versus Insane. She'll probably end up with the Weathervane, inasmuch as he would promise her the moon.

Whew .. someone had a nasty case of that male-cycle DSB (deadly sp(olive)rm buildup). Goes to show you shouldn't rely on the rhythm method - that long in-between waiting period allows an embarrassing and deadly build up that unwittingly ends up being spewed all over the place. I'm sure the poor thing is out like a light, snoring away.

In a perfect progressive, evolving world, Santorum will get the nod and receive Bachmann's blessing.....then Obama wins in a landslide. Oh, and if Santorum brought up the whole birth certificate thing, that would just be icing on the cake. It would let the TPs, fundies and birthers know just how the rest of the country feels about them.

Too bad you couldn't win the race, go stick a corndog in your face.

Your lips tell lies, at least one a minute, your god had a plan, you just weren't in it.

Your messages were oh so sweet, if someone can't work, they just shouldn't eat.

Or John Wayne Gacy a mid west resident, and make Obama a one term president!

And flinging @!$%# into the air, and oh yeah, repeal Obamacare.

And now your career is on the skids, stay home and raise those foster kids.

We just don't need that crazy talk. Find a short pier and take a long walk.

You're submissive and brainwashed, there is no doubt, So open the closet and let Marcus out.

Well I'll stop now, but I could go on. I'll be glad when your career is gone.

Talk about being one big phony, Bachmann takes the cake! Pick the winner after it's won. These are the kind of people we have trying to run this country, a bunch of more phony-ism. Say what the crowd wants to hear, then go to another rally and say something totally opposite. Sick & tired of voting for the least of the worse out of them all running. I still am for a new system of government, because of the fact that what we have has put us in decline. Such a decline that we haven't seen since the depression era with more crooks & greed a head of our own country and the people that made us strong, the 40 hrs a week working man.
