Any article with Obama's name in it is is bound to attract the usual conservative sniping. What most people may not have considered is how many of them are actually paid political operatives. The quality of the criticism leaves little doubt that it is the product of highly paid consultants. True, they do pretend to be totally witless, bigoted and completely uninformed- but that is precisely what makes it so believable to a certain segment of the population.

Side Note: Did anyone catch the special on the Secret Service and protection of the POTUS and candidates? President Obama has had the most threats of any candidate or president in history. Hmm, I wonder why... But this shows he is exposed to more lies as well, doesn't it?

Eisenhower didn't say or do anything against Senator McCarthy because he felt that someone as dishonest and flawed as he was would eventually go away. A lot of fine people got hurt McCarthy's right wing inquisition. I don't blame the president for standing up for himself against some of the most mean spirited, hateful,racist citizens in our country. He has to fight fire with truth. Propaganda? I would imagine that lots of independents post here too. My favorite posters are the jerks who say, "I am a Democrat, but I hate everything Democrates do or say." or the jerks who claim they are independents and go on a hateful rant against the president. Maybe it's just me, but it does kind of seem weird that the President (with his own press team and Press Secretary, the national media, and all of the federal resources at his disposal) would need another media arm. He gets daily coverage by the media, gets any interviews he asks for, gets national tv coverage if requested, and has a team of people working on his re-election campaign. Why would he need thousands of other people officially out there pushing him?

To me it sounds just a bit too much like totalarianism: You have a massive reon team telling everyone what to think, reinforced by the press, and inevitably they report back to you what is working/not working where, who's not listening, and who's working against you. That could easily be used against you.

Maybe I'm highstrung, but I don't like a lot of the press going out of DC these days: IE- Maybe the government should regulate sugar and salt, the President wants more Volt incentives, the government is giving more waivers to select friendly companies(Obamacare) and states (No Child), the government is proposing to put Americans in jail without a trial, the government is proposing to monitor American's actions through drones, we have to own their insurance, we have to learn their curriculum, etc.

I don't like the idea that the government is expanding it's reach daily and spending more than ever. It just looks like they are waiting for our Greece moment to take place so that they can take everything over.

The truth isn't very popular these days. We'll see if it sells.

I have been willing to listen to valid arguments you can make. I'm on the fence about the XL Pipeline. I was against the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I believe that we should give people a helping hand (Not a hand out) in their time of need. I don't care about Gay Marriage either way and Abortion is a Personal choice for a Woman to make.

You might want to hurry up and figure that out quick. The conservatives only need about a third of the Moderates to vote for them. The Left needs almost four fifths of the Moderates vote.

In 2008 the Moderates voted for an unknown on the basis of Propaganda,
"Hope and Change", "Yes we Can", "Were going to change the Way Washington works", "Were going to end the Status Quo", "Were going to have the most ethical congress in History", etc. They were willing to bet on an unknown. You know how those misinformed tin foil hat people are claiming that Obama's administration sold thousands of guns with no tracking devices on them to mexican drug cartels? How the gun dealers who called the feds were told to go ahead with the sales? How the mexican government was never told anything about it? How a US Border Patrolman was killed with oine of those guns? How we only found out about it when two agents went public and blew the whistle? Sure, Bush did it with 600 guns, but the Mexican govt was involved. The first time the Mexicans didn't intercept the guns on thier side of the border, the program was immediately halted.

Here are some truths, the oil companies are making more money under Obama then they did under Bush, and supposedly they were all Bush cronies. A gallon of gasoline was 1.79 the day Obama took office, and today over 3.50 a gallon. A 100% increase in the price of gasoline, and of course the price of gas affects almost everything else sold in this country with the most notable being food.

Heating oil has taken a similar jump. Over 3.53 a gallon and still climbing. What would help the economy more, a 10.00 a week payroll tax holiday, or cutting an 850.00 a month heating bill in half? Curious why Obama never mentions the price of gas or heating oil, he just proclaims that our domestic production is at its highest level in decades, which is something he played no part in since he has blocked all new gas and oil exploration. But he is touting the work of his predecessor as his own.

Lets face it, Obama is in over his head but few of his supporters care. They see no problems with the nation being spent into oblivion as long as they are promised handouts. But promises from Washington are like lies from Washington, neither are true. Unfortunately when the day of revelation finally arrives for Obama supporters, it will be too late to save this once great nation. Do you really think that $800 billion over 10 years being taken from the 2 % will have much of an impact on our current $15 trillion and growing debt or even address income inequality?

You seem to think that the birther issue is the greatest lie out there. I put it into the same context of the American government supporting the WTC attack on 911, area 51, the gunman on the grassy knoll and other conspiracy type arguments. Pity the fool that thinks the birth issue wasn't resolved in 2008.

In order to get elected a candidate must say what his or her target voters want to hear, regardless of truthfulness. It has always been that way. This may appear overly cynical, but when a campaign is viewed in this light a thinking person is forced to go beyond the ads and flashy campaign gibberish. Unfortunately, in my opinion, not enough voters do.

The lies that certain groups choose to believe is telling of where that group stands - I think this is even more significant than the origin of the lie itself. It ultimately is up to the electorate to hold candidates accountable - if the electorate chooses not to do that, they are at least as responsible for fabrications and their consequences as the candidate.

You know, SS and medicare can remain solvent if the wealthy would only pay their fair share. Or if only the wealthy and corporations would pay their fair share the AJA could move foreward. Or if only the wealthy would pay more the payroll tax cuts could be funded.

Where was the 75% cut in spending to make these programs happen? I found it interesting that the left always presented numbers in raising taxes, but never could come up with the numbers or programs they would cut to support thier 75% reduction.

I do recall obama taking $500 million (or was it billions) from medicare to help fund obamacare in 2009/2010. Then he offered, rhetorically to cut medicare another $600 billion (or million) in 2011. Since he never pursued it I am thinking that more than a few seniors were aginst further cuts to medicare.

BTW - if a politician is elected for promising not to raise taxes why would they change programs if the opposition wouldn't address spending?

Just so you know, I have no problem in seeing the obama (bush) tax cuts expire accross the board as long as spending is reduced as well. Just allowing the tax cuts for the 2% to expire fixes nothing.

Yes, Obama did advocate a plan that was 3:1 in spending cuts to tax increases.

What you conveniently ignore is that, under BO's proposal, the tax increases would have started IMMEDIATELY, while the huge majority of the spending cuts were deferred until 2017.

That would be AFTER Obama was out of office (assuming that he would win a second term) and there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that would ENSURE that any of the spending cuts would be implemented.

That "proposal" was just another of Obama's numerous politically motivated SCAMS.

He counts on people like YOU and his media wh0res to carry his water for him and hopes that most people won't catch on to his "bait and switch" tactics.

I am still waiting for someone to explain to me why the Bush tax cuts did not stimulate an explosion of jobs during his administration. The US unemployment rate almost doubled on his watch and the only jobs created were real estate bubble construction and lending jobs fueled by his decision to fund his Middle East wars with budget deficits.

In light of the military involvement in afghanistan and iraq they should have been revoked, but neither side of the aisle wanted to.

If one applies the old school politics (from both sides) that "deficits don't matter" the budget surpluses in the late 90's suggest that taxpayers would want lower taxes. You do recall that the cuts were accross the board, right? Who doesn't like tax cuts? The real tragedy is that the politicians and populace didn't look down the road to see what would happen in a time of recession.

Please don't try tying the real estate market with the wars, two very different animals.

Getting back to the housing bubble bust, think of it this way, politicians (potus and congressional) have pointed to home ownerhip as a real part of the American dream ever since the end of WWll. IE both sides of the aisle have promoted home ownership as well as providing ownership opportunities to those who could not previously afford it. Couple this attitude with the federal government telling fanny and freddy that the government would back the loans they approved + easy credit is it any wonder that the consumer fed into the frenzy as well?

Now let's look at the obama (bush) tax cuts today. From say, 2005 going forward the tax cuts were no longer stimulus, they became part and parcel to everyone's spending patterns, regardless of wealth.

Getting back to jobs think about this, American productivity has been in the ascension for over fifty years and increased productivity means that their will be less jobs unless the size of the pie grows as well. Historically each recession brings a change in skill sets moving forward just as it temporarily shrinks the size of the pie.

Um, no, two federal judges have ruled it constitutional, and one says the individual mandate is unconstitutional, but the Supreme Court has yet to hear the arguments, so it stands. Please link to the language of the federal judge's ruling where he/she orders Obama to cease the law's implementation.
