NBC's Mark Murray on the presidential candidates facing one of the largest national gatherings of conservatives at today's CPAC, and President Obama's contraception policy speech.
Yeah, no kidding. He should offer some clues, like wearing a different color suit for each persona. Wait, there aren't that many suit colors. Maybe a different lapel pin?
Nah Feisty more like holding your nose. Every time Mitt opens his mouth it sounds more like "breaking wind" as opposed to something cognitive. Just sayin!
Remember that "open mic" incident when Hillary was caught on tape warbling the National Anthem? In her defense, she was just singing to herself, and God knows, I wouldn't sound much better.
Watching and listening to this 'speech', I so far have "learned" two things:
They hate President Obama. And Romney is not authentic.
The conservatives are not pragmatic, they cannot hope to win, if they do not consider all sides of the argument, and that we know, they are incapable of.
Patiently waiting for the negative spin on Obama's contraceptive compromise.
He did those loons a big favor. Just imagine all the little Catholic babies that would have been born a year from now if the Repubs had had their wacky way? They must love the pain that comes from shooting themselves in the foot.
A lesser man than Obama would have let them stew in their own Stupid Juice. He really and truly cares about America's women, so much so that he went out of his way to make sure that even the silliest sheep among them would have contraceptive options.
Gee Alan...You got a problem with low income people having access to emergency services? typical connie puss from the Joisey...Wassa matter. Snooki turn you down for a date? And what's with the racist Mel Gibson Avatar? You must have some serious masculinity issues dude.
Alan, show me a government plan that can't be hacked. In they end they are judged by how much good they did as opposed to how much they were abused. An argument can be posited that the poor should not be saved from malaria because they will overly procreate and then die from starvation. It sucks as an argument.
An argument can be posited that the poor should not be saved from malaria because they will overly procreate and then die from starvation. It sucks as an argument.
I agree the argument regarding malaria sucks.
On a more intelligent note, you see no issue with borrowing money so that the poor, who according to some posters here lack for food and shelter, can have a cell phone?
Lifeline paid out $1.6 billion, more than double the amount paid in 2008 ($772 million).
Did you miss that part? You seriously want to argue that this is a good use of limited resources?
To me it is just typical of some of the stupidly here. God knows how the poor survived 20 years ago before cell phones were in widespread use.
JAS...Love your feeble attempt to re frame the issue to "free stuff." Perhaps we should get rid of:
Food stamps
Unemployment insurance
Cooling centers/heat centers for the elderly and homeless
etc..etc..etc..
The difference between you and me: (BTW I make lotsa money, employ 6 people in the manufacturing sector and pay lots in taxes) I am willing to assist my fellow Americans. Then again people like you would "let them eat cake." That is the stuff revolutions are made of darlin!
Alan, we are no longer in those bygone days of 20 years ago. I know of no one in business who does not conduct much of it over a cell phone. If you are out there applying for a job or grocery shopping it is kind of handy to have a cell available if another employer wants to hire you; if not, that job could easily just go poof.
TY: JAS...Love your feeble attempt to re frame the issue to "free stuff." Perhaps we should get rid of:
So true TY, someone is paying for the "free stuff". Apparently it is the Chinese who are buying our bonds. They're going to want that paid back at some point.
TY: The difference between you and me: (BTW I make lotsa money, employ 6 people in the manufacturing sector and pay lots in taxes) I am willing to assist my fellow Americans. Then again people like you would "let them eat cake." That is the stuff revolutions are made of darlin!
And what exactly do you know about me TY? You drew a comparison, so lets hear what you know about me.
Apparently what it's not clear to you TY is we're running about a 40% deficit on every dollar we spend. There are many things we can do without. You seem to think cell phones paid for by the government are just fine. What's your thought on TVs, air conditioners, and toasters? Can't do without that morning bagel without government cheese on it.
And sure we all know your great concern to "assist your fellow Americans", with other peoples money. You also have no comprehension that other needs of the poor should be met before cell phones are handed out.
You obviously can't comprehend the dependency factor that is built up with all these social programs.
Alan, we are no longer in those bygone days of 20 years ago. I know of no one in business who does not conduct much of it over a cell phone. I thought they were too poor to be out grocery shopping? Only going by other posters on this board who have a much better grasp of poverty issues than I do.
Maybe the grand philanthropist "Torpedo You" (Viagra Issues) could enlighten us. He/She seems to be superbly informed on this subject.
Joe Mancin "you can't help the people that really need if you try and help everybody". And it won't matter soon because the money will run out, even after you've taken it all from the rich like TY.
Yikes...JAS is it gonna be federally subsidized hookers next?..What about (like chilled said)
Subsidies for:
Big agriculture?
Big Pharma?
Big Oil?
What about that ethenol thingy?
2 Wars not on the balance sheet untill 2009
Unfunded medicare
Tax Havens in Switerland
Off shore banks
And on and on and on..
As a blue star dad and a marine with 2 serving (One just returned from AFG) why didn't the current crop of connies who were of age or their kids serve their country in any capacity?
Seems like you prefer to serve yourself like Mitt while my kids are are fighting to protect the interests of ALL your fellow Americans rich and poor.
Torpedo, you left off the "free stuff', tax breaks and incentives for big oil, big insurance, big pharma, etc.....
....and all those loop hole 'freebies', enjoyed by the multi-millionnaires and billionnaires.
You left out the Green Energy Industry.
What about that ethenol thingy?
But we were told by the greens, with scientific backing, that ethanol was good for the environment and a renewable energy resource. You don't agree that they got it wrong do?
Those will be cut too TY. Haven't you heard? The country is broke, and I guess our pols won't learn anything and start fixing the problems today. I guess they like the Greek model where the creditors tell the Greeks what to do.
China and the banks are our biggest creditors TY. So are you looking forward to them telling us how to run our government? What gets cut, what doesn't get cut.
Who do you think will be hurt most later because we can't control our spending today TY? Take a wild stab at it. Use your Marine knife if you want.
ideo: oJo ... please inform my dulling mind ... start with what not to cut ... be patient with me ...
Don't much care where to start ideo. We've already started cutting with our military. You're Canadian, correct? You wouldn't know much about that. They were quite the dramatic cuts too. Those same percentages in cuts will need to be made for other departments under discretionary spending. After that, the entitlements need to be reformed, that's where the big dollars can be found. After that the tax provisions of the country need to be simplified and updated.
See the Debt Commission Report from 2010 for more details.
And I'm really sorry about that "dulling mind" of yours. How do you cope?
JoJo ... the cuts to your military are hardly dramatic. America could cut by half and still be outspending all of her 'enemies' by half again.
If you are attempting to dis the Canadian military my dear you are treading on ground soaked with the blood of those we fought against ... including some of yours circa 1812. We have never left the battlefield or surrendered.
Please excuse me while I dull my mind a tad more before I read your response if any.
I see you're off on yet another tangent ideo. You asked where the cuts should come and I told you. You though focus on the military and appear to say those cuts are not enough.
Dull mined people like you focus on narrow things. What is your solution to the debt problem ideo? Spend more perhaps? That seems to be Obama's plan.
So what do you say ideo, lets have you pick up the pace a little and hear what you think the magic formula is. Un-dull your mind, just for a time dearest, and lets hear your great ideas.
JoJo ... tax companies less and no subsidies for the oil boys, tax the wealthy more ... you will love this one- Universal Healthcare, it will cost your economy 50% less. Renegotiate NAFTA if possible. Just for starters, your turn.

You have a problem with that Alan? My son just returned from FOB lagman in the AFG...What about you? What say we have a surtax to pay for these wars...How bout that...Will you pay or continue to bitch about the poor getting "free stuff." You sir are a Poltroon. Seem to remember you wer on the side of the "War on Terror!
I think a surtax to pay for these wars is a good idea and have consistently been appalled by Bush's fiscal blunders. No I was never on the side of the "War on Terror". And unlike the intelligence agencies of the west, the idea that Iraq could develop a nuclear weapon struck me as a fabrication (actually a fantasy).
I was for the initial invasion of Afghanistan when we aided the Norther Alliance in overthrowing the Taliban. It was an appropriate response to 9/11. I was disgusted that Bin-Laden was allowed to escape at Tora Bora. Probably 6 months to year after that it was time to leave. There is no nation to build.
I was, and will display, my opposition to the Iraq (and Libyan) wars. However, in the case of Iraq, now we have spent so much there, I hope it does become a sustainable democracy, but no more at our expense. We are gone for good (I hope). The same for Afghanistan. I cannot for the life of me understand why Obama escalated the war. The time to leave was 2003.
Times are tough and hopefully we don't come out of the Nov election making it worse, by being conned and swayed with all of the propaganda. While the deficit, uncontrolled spending and being too liberal are valid concerns, to be deceived that they are the current major problems is to be fooled into focusing in the wrong direction and to then allow "more of the same", which is at the real root of the problems: i.e., permissive government, excessive deregulation, no oversight, lax enforcement, privileged exploitation, putting political ambitions above all else, no bipartisan cooperation, faulting and blocking all efforts, politicians coerced and intimidated to force unity and to squelch individual consciences, “puppet” candidates ready to perform, SuperPacs and others using humungous funds to con and manipulate the public and the constant plain and simple lying to achieve selfish interests. Hopefully the voters can reject the deception, along with “the money’s" sponsored candidates.

The $10,000 question is, which Mitt Romney is going to show up?
I can guarantee you, if Willard break out in song again, I will definitely need some ear plugs!
Yeah, no kidding. He should offer some clues, like wearing a different color suit for each persona. Wait, there aren't that many suit colors. Maybe a different lapel pin?
One thing, though, I will never poke fun at Romney or anyone else over is singing voice.
Paul, I can't sing either but I will poke fun at him because he should know better than to try it on stage in front of a crowd with the tape rolling.
Nah Feisty more like holding your nose. Every time Mitt opens his mouth it sounds more like "breaking wind" as opposed to something cognitive. Just sayin!
Oh Oh, Mittens in gonna be in trouble since he says rights come from the Constitution.......Santorum says 'rights don't come from the government"!
Which one didn't get the memo on talking points!
fight....fight....fight

Jon Stewart's take on Romney's singing to the crowd was CLASSIC!

No matter what Mitt Romney says, he isn't good at tossing red meat but isn't too bad tossing flounder.
Jody,
Too FUNNY! lol
Hey, do you think Willard is using a *gasp* teleprompter?
teleprompter? nah, golden tablets.
Don't forget the "magic' underwear.
With or without the skid marks?
eeeeeeewwwwwwwww!!!!!!
If all eyes are on Mitt, why is the picture of Santorum?
Good to know this how we're waging the war on poverty

I guess TY hasn't noticed that the country is broke and just might have to do without a few things.

I agree with you on the wars except:
- the current incumbent escalated the war in Afghanistan.
- raising the top rate 38% (actually 39%) does not cost 4T over 10 years. CBO estimates 700B. 4T is the cost of all Bush tax rates.
You have a problem with that Alan? My son just returned from FOB lagman in the AFG...What about you? @TY
Did you get a word of the day calendar for Christmas?
Been using that word for years Alan..Describes most wimpy Connies: "Abject Coward." Perfectly describes Mitt, Newt and Rick...How bout "Faux Patriot?"
...and why is Obama missing from this list?
Times are tough and hopefully we don't come out of the Nov election making it worse, by being conned and swayed with all of the propaganda. The deficit, government spending, "bigger government" and "liberal" efforts really haven't caused our problems (that is obvious when viewed rationally and objectively) ... but if too many people believe that propaganda, then we are very apt to be returned to "more of the same", Bush-Cheney style, and the actions that did cause the problems; i.e., a permissive, co-responsible government catering to "the few" (1%) while giving the majority (99%) only apathy, the costs and an abundance of subterfuge to con and manipulate. Our problems are the result of exploitation by the advantaged few, permitted and encouraged by politicians acting as "puppets" for "the few", who literally "pull the strings" and strongly support them.
