Trump backs Romney: 'He's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen'

Real estate developer Donald Trump endorses Mitt Romney for president.

Donald Trump formally endorsed Mitt Romney for president on Thursday, describing the former Massachusetts governor as "tough" and "smart" and the best pick in the GOP primary.

Trump and Romney appeared together in Las Vegas to announce the endorsement, which drew heavy media coverage.

"It is a real honor and privilege to endorse Mitt Romney," Trump said in brief remarks. "Mitt is tough, he's smart, he's sharp. He's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country we all love."

Romney said in response: "There are some things that you just can't imagine in your life. This is one of them," adding that it means a "great deal" to have the billionaire's support.

The endorsement follows a bizarre period of time in which several major news outlets -- including the New York Times and Associated Press -- had initially reported that Trump had been planning to endorse Newt Gingrich. The former House speaker had been one of only two candidates to agree appearing at a debate the "Apprentice" host had planned, but which never came to pass. Romney declined attendance.

RELATED: The quotable Donald Trump

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum (R) said he didn't think the Trump endorsement matters, but added on KDWN radio that if Trump "wants to endorse the person who's most in line with his thinking with respect to the major issue of this economic problem that we're involved in, he should endorse Rick Santorum."

For their part, Democrats seemed to take a degree of joy in the Trump spectacle.

"It really wouldn't be surprising if Donald Trump endorses Mitt Romney, because they both like firing people, and they both made millions doing it" Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, said on msnbc. "Donald Trump is such a cartoon character, no matter who he chooses, it's like Bugs Bunny endorsing ... It's really kind of a non-news event."

DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz tells MSNBC's Thomas Roberts that recent verbal missteps from Mitt Romney show that he has "no concern about people who are struggling."

It's reflective of the media whirlwind to have surrounded Trump's game of footsie with Republican politics over the past year.

Trump had initially thought about running for the GOP nomination last spring. He talked publicly about the possibility of running and even visited New Hampshire. The flirtation coincided with the broadcast of last spring's season of "The Apprentice" on NBC. (NBC is a co-owner of mnsbc.com, along with Microsoft.) Trump had initially promised to make clear his intentions in the show's season finale, but ultimately demurred, and made the announcement separately.

Trump had additionally been one of the most prominent figures to voice suspicions that President Obama had not actually been born in the United States, and, thusly, was constitutionally ineligible to be president. Obama eventually relented and released his long-form birth certificate on April 27, 2011, verifying he was born in Hawaii. Obama made light of the situation at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner on May 1, deriding the media for giving voice to “carnival barkers” like Trump, only to announce the next day that Osama bin Laden had been killed in a daring raid in Pakistan -- planning of which had been ongoing during the annual dinner.

But the discussion of "birther" theories over the course of last spring appears to have harmed Trump in the eyes of the public; Trump had a 26 percent favorable rating in a February 2011 NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, and a 29 percent unfavorable rating. By mid-May, the point at which the real estate magnate announced he wouldn't be running, a Suffolk University poll found that Trump had a 70 percent unfavorable rating, while just 18 percent of Americans had a positive opinion of Trump.

It's also not incredibly clear what, if any, impact the Trump endorsement will have on the trajectory of the race, in Nevada's caucuses on Saturday, or beyond. Romney had already led, at 45 percent, in a poll of likely Nevada caucus-goers released Thursday. He's followed by Gingrich at 25 percent, Santorum at 11 percent and Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 9 percent.

Still, the reality television star continued to play an out-sized role throughout the 2012 cycle. All the Republican candidates visited Trump through the course of last summer with the exception of former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman.

"I think his infusing himself into the dialogue really dumbs down and makes less consequential the very important issues that we must be discussing to get this country back on its feet again," Huntsman said on Fox News in December.

One of the most intensely covered media events of 2011 came when former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin went out for pizza with Trump in Manhattan during a stop on her bus tour of the Northeast, a journey meant to stoke speculation about her own presidential aspirations. When Romney visited Trump, he snuck in and out of the billionaire's headquarters without being captured by staked-out cameras.

It's not just you phine.

I find it strange Mitt would take an endorsement from a person with a FOX on his head. Supposedly, the Chump was to endorse Newt. So, on second thought, if you look at the scheme of things those two flip floppers deserve each other.

Furthermore, the chump is anti-China but his merchandise is from China. Sounds like Mitt.

You had to figure that he wouldn't support Newt. With Sheldon Adelson (SUCCESSFUL casino owner) throwing $5 million dollar checks at Newt, Trump wouldn't be the big show. He might be embarrassed if Newt asked him to match Adelson's donations (Trump never did release those financial records he promised). He can support Mitt with his mouth since Mitt's big money super pac doesn't need the money.

I thought for sure The Donald would back Gingrich. Then he, Gingrich and Herman Cain could form the Axis of Adultery. Not that I'm a big fan of marriage or adultery but they are supposed to be the party of "Family Values". If Romney were a typical Mormon, he'd be cringing at Trump's endorsement but Romney is a sellout. He'd throw his mother under the bus in order to be president.

I don't really understand why Donald Trump is so revered (or is he?). I find him to be crass, demeaning towards individuals, a media hound who calls into talk shows to spout off his opinion. His condominium building in Las Vegas looks like a blinding mile high brick of gold...its hard to even look at it, it is so aesthetically unappealing. His show had people up all hours of the night in order to avoid losing his esteem...frankly, I'd hope to be fired...actually I'd quit. I wouldnt apply in the first place and then spend my time cowering in fear of a tyrant. And I'm not a quitter. I just like to be on the right team. His endorsement doesn't really mean anything at all to me.

Republicans being complete and total Economic Failures is what helped President Obama get elected, and if you think support for President Obama "is dropping" then you're not even listening to your own Republican leaders who have already warned, loud and clear, that when it comes to the popular vote, Republicans can NOT win against President Obama.

Immediately, pink slips come to mind here. Every time Mitt tries to bury his wealth with comments like, "I know what it's like to face a pink slip", he follows it up with comments like, "Corporations are people too my friend".

Yesterday, Mitt was focusing on the middle class, today he is being endorsed by the rich.

Hey oskar-how is telling the wealthy to pay their fair share class warfare??? What so wrong about paying a few more percentage points?? How come its class warfare when a Democrat asks the wealthy to pay their fair share, but when a Republican presidential nominee (Romney) offers a tax plan that will give the wealthy hundreds of thousands of dollars in new breaks but taxes people who make under $40,000 more??? Seems to me that class warfare has been prevalent on the right.

Apparently you haven't heard of the economic recovery or the 22 months of private sector job growth or the bailout of GM THAT SAVED THE AUTO INDUSTRY. It must be cold in Republican Town. You also know that the GOP could have compromised with Obama by allowing tax breaks to expire for the wealthy in return for large spending cuts, therefore decreasing our debt??? You also know that Boehner could have negotiated a compromised with his Tea Party overlords, or that the candidates and almost every freaking GOP congressmen could have NOT signed a pledge that banned tax increases and in effect placed ideology and politics ABOVE American ideals of compromise, bipartisanship, and duty to nation???? Stop smoking the GOP weed and get sober. Bin Laden dead. GM alive. Obama: everyone carry an equal tax burden. Romney: 14% tax for billionaires vs 35% tax for a secretary is fair. Romney: no cares about the poor: next day Obama: Christ measures us by our support of the poor. Obama: save on bombs, create jobs, Gingrich: 13000 to the moon, poor kids scrub toilets. bigben - Obama's dropping a little, but the debates were dropping both Gingrich and Romney against Obama.

Meanwhile Santorum and Ron Paul are rising. Currently Romney is 1 or 2 points behind Obama and Santorum is 2 or 3 points down and Paul is down 3 - 5.

The same is true in the key states - Romney then Santorum. Ron Paul drops off in the key states so forget him. There's a slew of polls showing this on RCP.

I think a few more debates and the republicans should ditch both Romney and Gingrich and give it to Santorum. The more Santorum gets exposure, the more people like him. Little baggage, has a clear opinion for himself, but finds the right position that the majority people can actually agree with on most issues. He's more interested in dealing with the problems than taking careless cheap shots using half facts.

      #1.67 - Thu Feb 2, 2012 10:10 PM EST

A vote for Santorum is a vote for war with Iran. He's even worse than Gingrich. I guess it really doesn't matter though, even Obama will probably bring us to war. The only canidate with rationality and common sense, Ron Paul, is the canidate who is being ignored the most by the mainstream media. But I'm sure that's not being done to suit a certain agenda.

And yet another thing which distinguishes and separates Mitt Romney from average Americans. Mr. Romney appears with Donald Trump and gratefully accepts Trump's endorsement.

99% of Americans in Mr. Romney's position would do everything in their power to persuade "the Donald" to endorse the OTHER guy!!!

It would be nice if any politican representing the republ.ican party would actually talk about what this country needs and exactually what he would do to make it happen. Not one so far has done that discussion...they all however talk big about cutting the taxes even more on their mega wealthy friends...according to one of them..healthcare is only for those that can pay for it...all others..tough. Nothing is being said that shows real concerns for the middle class which have always carried this country. Wonder what happens when that middle class is gone..and no longer buys the goods those wealthy for profit only folks want to sell ? Wonder also what happens when countries like china..with their cheap labor , desides to again take over all business in that country, as they have done many times in their past.

Romney and Tump like or not they are successfully business man and they can provide a much better conditions for people to invest in new business

Well, SOME people anyway. Romney wants a massive round of home foreclosures so that rich people can buy up houses on the cheap and then profit by renting them back at a steep profit to the middle class families that formerly owned the houses.

Mtt Romney: He believes in the American Dream, but only for rich people!

If I understand Romney's income correctly, most of his millions come from capital gains. I have heard Newt and Mitt say they will do away with capital gains taxes which will make them even richer. The people I know don't have capital gains. They are lucky just to get by on a month's pay. The rich get richer and the rest of us struggle as best we can.

Perhaps Trump should look up "honor" and "privilege" in the dictionary. Typically one says that they feel honored when they receive something -- like an award, endorsement, or an invitation to speak. Saying that endorsing Romney is a "privilege" would seem to suggest that only certain people are allowed to endorse Romney, and that would be news to me.

Amazing to me...I have repeatedly asked people to define their terms....What they mean by poverty or "the poor" and nobody has responded. However, one of our comrades here has discovered his dictionary for the purpose of taking apart Donald Trumps statement.....While his dictionary definition is accurate, perhaps he should be asking the speaker of the statement as to what was intended and see if Mr Trump is willing to define his terms more clearly. I have always understood the statement of "it is an honor and a privelege" to be taken as an entire statement and not broken into individual words. As a complete phrase, it is meant to denote that somebody has committed themselves to something very worhwhile and are flattered and grateful to feel that their support and contribution matters to the cause or person that they are supporting.....it is a figure of speech, not a literal statement.

Interesting, Donald Trump endorses Romney and then Romney loses in 3 States, including Colorado, which Romney had won with 60% of the vote in 2008. The difference between 2008 and 2012? Trump's endorsement for one.... Trump's endorsement works against Romney and may deny him the nomination.

Im not sure where the streotype came from, either rhetoric or propaganda but...

Liberals believe in freedom of religion or the lack of one. Not "Most liberals don't believe in religion".

That's like saying, "most conservatives believe in only one religion, christianity".

In my opinion, we all meet the Maker. Some may call Him by another name, but it is the Great Creator. It might even be an alien, as if I would know. Others believe we come and go, like any other life form in nature.

For conservatives waving the American flag and shouting "Freedom!", they are notoriously suppressive. Freedom to an abortion? Freedom for Muslims to worship? Freedom for recreational drugs? Freedom for the right to collective bargaining? Freedom for same sex marrage?

Even the basic freedoms are challenged. Freedom of speech? Check out every one of Feisty's post.

Face it, the only freedom conservatives believe in is the freedom to practice the conservative's beliefs.

This one shows the long form of his BC.

            "

In remarks to the press today, Obama said that his campaign had already released his birth certificate in 2008. And, in fact, FactCheck.org staffers handled, examined and photographed the "certification of live birth." That short-form document is what Hawaii releases to citizens who request a copy of their birth certificate, and we confirmed that it meets legal requirements for proving citizenship and obtaining a passport. We concluded: "Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said."

If that wasn’t enough, Hawaii newspapers had run birth announcements in August 1961, shortly after Obama’s birth."

REPLY: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! The president's birth certificate has been posted online since 2008. This is 2012! And that birth certificate looks EXACTLY like the copies of birth certificates available to and in the possession of almost every American in every state (it's identical to mine, from the state of Oregon). Compare it with your own copy of your own birth certificate.

                http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2011/04/27/president-obamas-long-form-birth-certificate

                Short form: http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate.pdf

And in response to unrelenting slanders from the Right and people like Sarah Palin and Donald Trump, the talking heads employed by FOX News and Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, et al (... and nut job conspiracy theorists), the president pressed for and obtained a copy of the LONG FORM birth certificate. And the White House posted that Long Form Birth Certificat in April of 2011, 10 months ago!

                Long Form: http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate-long-form.pdf

So what else do you need? Has ANY other President of the United States EVER been asked to somehow gain possession of the one-and-only paper original of his birth certificate and have it paraded in public for the doubters to see?

Most original documents certifying the birth of over 308 Million Americans don't even exist, having long ago been commited to microfilm or other electronic records, and the paper copies destroyed. You couldn't obtain the paper original of your birth certificate, and you know it. Should we therefore insist that YOU are not a natural born citizen of the US? Go ahead; produce that paper original. We'll wait.

Is there ANYTHING which will dispel such a silly and unworthy slander of this man, our President? (An especially unbecoming slander, I might add, coming from an American veteran. Shame on you!)

I suspect there is no evidence on Earth which could be produced which would silence these very un-American slanders. Because "hatred" is at the root of these slanders, and hatred is notoriously adictive, and difficult to overcome.

Hey, here's an interesting purely fanciful complement question for you, and those like you. Has ANYONE seen the long form birth certificates of Donald Trump, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Sarah Palin, et al????

No? Hmm, why not? I wonder why the Right is not slandering and clammoring ad nauseam for the release of those documents? What underlying differences could you people possibly see between those citizens, and citizen Obama which would make you entirely uincurious about their citizenship and birth? And how would you feel if they did produce those documents, and yet a significant percentage of Americans still insisted months and years after they produced the documents that they were fakes, that it's all a lie, and they are hiding the truth?

                Well surprise, surprise (yawn...)

Any body remember the thread on here from December 3rd?

                Paul
says no to Trump, joins Huntsman in skipping debate

So I guess there really wasn't much choice for ol' Donnie...

Just be glad that Trump DIDN'T go through with his treat to host a "debate" - obviously just more hollywood and theatrics since he has been a willard supporter all along. Rest of the field now wish they had been as smart as Paul and Huntsman instead of pandering after the dollars....

Missy, to prove that those who sleep together stay together. Trump is needing a hands up from a know-it-all Romney, they are both two peas in a pod. Don't have a clue about the everyday person. Do you think they could understand a person trying to get a refinance on $143,000, no way they spend that kind of money on parties, so you see, that everyday person doesn't understand the loopeholes these a--hole- are capable of using and therefore become even richer. Wake up america and smell your own coffee. Listen to what Ron Paul is trying to tell you without any frills or hollywood makeup, if we get back to the constitution of this country we will be on the right track again, no candidate thus far has even come close to what realization of the situation is except for Ron Paul. I am a registered democrat but will vote for Ron Paul when he becomes the true candidate for this position. My vote will not be wasted this time.

As you are discounting Mr Trump's endorsement as worthless, then by similar logic, I can assume that I am free to disregard other celebrities who purport to support causes that might be of interest to liberal thinkers. How about all the filthy rich Hollywood types, certainly members of the 1% by income and assets, who presume to tell me where my charitable funds should go, or presume to tell me what kind of car I should drive to be kind to the environment (let us not look at their hypocrisy with multiple flashy cars or even chauffered limos) You can't apply this criticism to only one set of people or it becomes a bias rather than a rule of fairness.

I think this was a smart move on Romney's part, standing with Trump. Things can only get better for him now. These are just a few inspiring things Trump has had to say of late.

I have people that have been studying [Obama's birth certificate] and they cannot believe what they're finding... I would like to have him show his birth certificate, and can I be honest with you, I hope he can. Because if he can't, if he can't, if he wasn't born in this country, which is a real possibility…then he has pulled one of the great cons in the history of politics."

Trump told CNN that Romney killed jobs at Bain Capital. “Mitt Romney is basically a small business guy.” “He walked away with some money from a very good company that he didn’t create. He worked there, he didn’t create. He would buy companies, he’d close companies, he’d get rid of jobs.”
                    – Trump slammed Romney’s record as governor on ABC. “If you look at his record as governor, it wasn’t totally stellar. His job production was not great at all. In fact, it was the third worst in the nation. There are some pretty negative things with respect to Mitt Romney, which frankly he’s going to have to overcome.”

So, evidently in your fantasy world, the President of the United States has some sort of magic "economy wand"...and President Obama isn't waving it? Wrong. Seriously wrong. Take gas prices for example. A handful of speculators control the price of oil...thereby setting the price of gasoline artificially high. Who benefits? Not you or me...just Big Oil and the speculators. Do you HONESTLY think that our economic woes are going to magically go away with the election of a GOP President? Honestly?

The average person is voting directly against their own best interests by voting Republican. Republicans make all kinds of statements about how they'll make things better for the average American...but it's all hot air. They typify conservatism: caring only about themselves. Whereas liberals care about others...and mean it.

The truth is the GOP couldn't give a @!$%# less about this country or YOU for that matter. At least our president knows and has been helping create jobs, our GDP has gone from -8.9% to +2.5%. Clearly @spider should pick up a history book and realize that 8 years of destruction and a looting of the treasury by Bushco can not be fixed in 3 years! 5.5 trillion off the books for Bushco....that's alot of money to just piss away on wars, tax breaks, and medicare part D.

Sue. Honey. Turn off Fox News. That is not what has been happening lately. Nobody "took over" GM - the government bail out gave them a chance to restructure effectively, saving tens of thousands of American jobs. Now they're #1 again - where is your pride in an American auto company being productive again?

Debt? Sure - would you have preferred they turn off your social security and medicare in order to pay off the Bush wars and tax cuts that were never budgeted? Which pensions has the present government pocketed? I'd love to see your link for that one. Private sector jobs are up, Sue. Americans are working again. Try not to be so bitter because there's a Dem in the White House.

Birther conspiracy? That's just one of several items that Obama needs to address during this run for President. I'd like to know why he's spent so much money sealing documents on his background while requesting everyone else to provide tranparency on their background.

It would also be interesting to know if the remarks about Obama and Rahm belonging to the same 'gay' club in Chicago.

It may prove to be interesting to see the dirt on Obama just prior to the the debates. What will come out I wonder?

Now why doesn't MSNBC do investigative journalism on this also? They do a good job of following the GOP candidates, often creating stories rather than report on them.

I can't wait to see his explanation of the fantasies in the delusional eyes of the tea party birther conspiracy theory whackos, and while he explains that and this gay club thing? (stupid) I can't wait to see Romney explain why his money is filtered through the Caymans. Or why he needed Swiss bank accounts. Or maybe he would like to explain why he took 180 million on an investment of 30 million from a business that he shut down rather than tried to save.

See the problem with your accusations? They sound like your a nut case. The problem with Romney, those are legitimate questions to ask a president. If the tea party knew what they should be looking for, they probably wouldn't have the failure of a former speaker Gingrich.

Its not rocket science.....However, that hasnt happened! Im not saying one way or the other....dont get me wrong, but for something so simple to fix it sure seems to still need some attention. Because the original documents have yet to be produced, and for someone to not produce a few simple documents as valid undisputed proof....well that kinda leaves things on the table to fuel the fire dont it!

He did, the long form birth certificate was released last year....it was verified as an official by the republican governor in 2008 who had it examined for authenticity. What more does he need to do? Show the delivery on television for you? Morons.

winemaker says: "Now why doesn't MSNBC do investigative journalism on this also?" about Obama's past.

WOW! You mean to tell me that all of that "investigative journalism" that FOX has done, which hasn't turned up anything remotely bogus in his past, doesn't count? Furthermore, what the hell does him producing a birth certificate mean at this point anyway? His mother was an American citizen, and he lived in Hawaii with his grandparents. That's good enough for me!

My guess is because MSNBC is a news station not a tabloid like FOX NOISE.

It is not clear to me how many Republican officeholders believe this reactionary and paranoid claptrap. During the disgraceful circus of the "birther" issue, Republican politicians stoked the fires of paranoia by feeding the fearful and angry low-information political base with a nod and a wink, and playing the birther fools for what they are.

Actually the constitution was amended to say that as long as a parent is a natural born citizen, that makes the child one too, this covers women who happen to be out of the country when they give birth. It was Mitt Romney himself who debunked the whole birth certificate issue during the height of all of the conspiracy frenzy. Not that the far right is bound to listen to anyone that has anything sound, ration or legal, or that doesn't suit their absolute hatred for Obama.

However even if he had never produced his long form birth certificate, this was not an issue. Even if he was born in Kenya, his mother was born in Chicago and this has never been of dispute, he is a natural born citizen. However there is absolutely no evidence to support this conspiracy garbage, it just makes people look like nut cases.

I say its to easy to put to rest all the conspiracy theory whackos......JUST PRODUCE THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS!

It wouldn't do a bit of good, those nutters would just insist that it was a fake. After all, they refused to accept the legal copies, they refused to accept the statements of Hawaiian officials - including the Republican Governor, and instead they insist on believing blatant forgeries made to show how gullible they could be. Besides, knowing some of those nutters, they'd try to destroy the original documents so they could say there were no original documents - there is a reason why all "original legal documents" are kept in a safe place, and copies of those documents are used for official legal purposes.

I threw out the Chicago news article about the 'gay club' to hear the libbie lineup to support Obama.

No, whinemaker, you threw it out as a shallow attempt at slander. It's clearly one of those made-up fantasy stories that malevolent sleaze merchants love to produce and spread.

BTW, if there were any truth to it, it would just give me yet another reason to vote for Obama.

Those of us who don't happen to agree with the ever present first posters seem to have to jump through a ton of hoops typing in cryptic, nonsensical words to prove that we aren't spammers and this is after signing in with screen name and password. Anybody else notice that????? Takes me five times as long to post a comment trying to decipher the code words that prove I am not a spammer.

ALEX OTERO, my opinion is my right and I am far from a retard or ignorant, you seem to be very defensive and that makes me wonder why, what is it that makes you so interested in what i write, who are you anyway?

Truth and fact: Mr Obama is fully established as part of the 1%, as are most of the people on capital hill.

How "brilliant" does a person have to be, when he inherits hundreds of millions of dollars from his father? Trump is an abject failure who actually needs his reality show paycheck to pay the bills. A real billionaire, or "brilliant" business man does not continue to host a reality show. And judging by the things he says, he is not a particularly bright man.

Romney is "not going to allow bad things to ... happen"? Is Trump five years old?

birjac - well if Romney were to win he would create thousands of jobs - for the Chinese - as he has in the past!

Trump is a brilliant businessman - let's see - bankrupt twice, not so damned brilliant in my book. And, Romeny - oh please! Not even smart much less brilliant!

OMG-- I hope I don't have a nightmare like I had the other night. That one, it was Mutt for president and Lizard for vice president.

Now, I hope it's not Mutt for president and Loon for vice president.

Lord save America from either of those-- or any other with a republithug for president.

Both these guys shut down businesses for profit. WAKE UP AMERICA! This is the ralization in this country. These so called businessmen would rather deal with the crooks of other deregulated countries than buy their own crooks in congress here.

We are finally starting to come out of the worst economic downturn since the GD....which by the way was caused by GOP let Wall Street run amuck mentality.....and the dems were a part of it too, if I'm going to be honest...they ALL were complicit and decided Wall Street knows best, so let them go at it.

But, now we have learned what happened and why it happened. The GOP clearly want to go right back to the same policies that caused it AND has allowed the middle class over the last 30 years to lose ground to their counterparts of 30 yrs ago and get squeezed beyond the max while the wealthy became the extremely wealthly.

We are now on a more balanced path...a little more more caring about us....the middle class and a little less caring about protecting the wealthy.

Today, the unemployment rate hit the lowest rate in 3 years....8.3%. We still got a ways to go, but the trend is now undeniable....we are on the path to recovery.

                                    SAY NO TO THE GOP.

And the numbers are skewed. The math is faulty. The unemployment rate has not yet been seasonally adjusted and does not reflect those who have run out of unemployment, or never were eligible for unemployment benefits. The unemployment figures do not consider those who had $50K per year jobs and have accepted minimum wage jobs. Unemployment figures do not reflect folks that had to accept cuts in hours and pay to keep their jobs....In other words, the numbers do not reflect the number of Americans who are financially hurting because of a lack of decent job opportunity. Also, the unemployment figures will not take into account all the OWS student types who claim that they cannot pay their student loans because they have finished school and can't find work, so the government (translate that as taxpayer) should pay all their loans for them because its not "fair" Is it fair that highly educated and experienced workers are bagging groceries? Please don't extoll the virtues of the lowest jobless rate in 3 years-obviously, you have not been directly impacted by unemployment, or under employment. For those of us who have, the economy doesn't look the least bit recovered or rosy.

Sue, you will read into what i wrote what you will, but i clearly stated we still have a long ways to go.

The fact is we were in a VERY deep hole. Its going to take some time to get out of it....but, all signs are the economy is starting to gather up steam. Take solace in that, keep looking, and good luck
