PHILADELPHIA, PA - Speaking from the hospital room where he said his ailing 3-year-old daughter is making a "miraculous turnaround," Rick Santorum said that he would resume his campaign on Monday with stops in western caucus states.
"She went through a very tough time the last 48 hours and this afternoon she made really a remarkable turn," Santorum told voters in Florida and Minnesota, via two tele-town halls Sunday night, of his daughter Isabella, who was rushed to the hospital the night before after developing pneumonia in both lungs.
Santorum said that Isabella, who also suffers from the genetic disorder Trisomy 18, was still in the intensive care unit and was not ready to be released home, but that doctors were encouraged by the improvements made over the past few hours.
"We've still got a long way to go here but she has without a doubt turned the corner and we are very, very grateful," he said.
Santorum had cleared his Sunday schedule in Florida to be with his daughter but will be back on the trail tomorrow afternoon with stops over the next two days in Missouri, Minnesota, Colorado and Nevada, all caucus states. He will not be back in Florida before its election on Tuesday, having cancelled an event in Boca Raton scheduled for that morning.
Instead, Santorum will hold a primary night party in Las Vegas, an indication the campaign has pulled its stakes from the Sunshine State where a recent NBC/Marist poll had Santorum in a very distant third place.
In fact, turnout at a Sunday afternoon event in Sarasota - at which Santorum's daughter Elizabeth filled in for her dad - served as an indicator to the campaign as to whether they would continue to stump in the state through Tuesday's primary. The rally, held in the same venue where Newt Gingrich drew more than 3,000 people, had a scant showing of fewer than 250.
Santorum also seemed to have already moved beyond Florida during the call with Minnesota voters in which he emphasized the importance of caucus-style contests to his campaign.
"We want the activists of the party, the people who make up the vast part of the Republican Party, to have a say in who our nominee is as opposed to a bunch of people who don't even identify themselves as Republicans picking our nominee," Santorum said, noting that only registered Republicans can participate in a caucus.
"I believe that a state should only allow Republicans to vote in a Republican primary. Why? Because it's the Republican nomination, not the independent nomination or the Democratic nomination."
Santorum refrained from making such a pro-caucus statement in Florida, which holds a primary, albeit a closed one in which only Republicans can vote.
"This is an election that's wide open; This race isn't going to be decided in Florida, it's not going to be decided for quite some time. But Florida can have a big say," he said to voters on the first call.
And while he didn't handicap his finish in Tuesday's primary, Santorum still predicted he would finish strong in the Sunshine State, thanks to an increase in donations which he said began after his victory in the Iowa caucus was confirmed.
"We're going to come out of Florida I think with a pretty good number, certainly dollars per votes we're going to run rings around the other candidates," Santorum said, referring to the amount of money candidates spend in a state divided by the vote percentage they receive.
A decent showing in Florida will allow him, he continued, to "come into states like Minnesota, Colorado and some of the other states that are having their caucuses and primaries and be in a much better position."
Santorum said he was hoping to "do very well" in Minnesota, adding "we're looking forward to getting up there tomorrow and spending a lot of time and trying to get folks in the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes to join us."

Rick , I hope your momentum blossoms ....stay strong....stay off of the religious issues...you have allot of great ideas .....Romney should pick you as his running mate.....even though you don't see , completely eye to eye......Go get em Santorum...and glad to hear that Bella has improved....now go kick some b-tt.....
Rick stay out of politics ..you hurt the people of PA ..with your Fraudulant expense accounts ... your anti senior stand ...and your continueing eforts to eliminate medicare and put SS in the hands of wall street
Big Ben - He isn't pushing his faith as much as the media and others voice the concern and he responds.
If he does not get the nomination he should be either one's VP. Both Gingrich and Romney will deal away conservative issues when it is convenient for them to do so. But then, I see Santorum as really the candidate everyone would want. i.e. he has his strong beliefs, but does not expect that to be domineeringly administered to the whole population, because they probably don't believe so strongly.
independent Jim - this is and extremely diverse country. One of it's greatests is it's diversity especially in religion. Every view should be not only be considered, but at least heard from and respected, otherwise we destroy the diversity.
Your reference to fraudelent expense account is an accusation which the only reference is the Huffington post. From research, there is around 50 - 100 accusations of Santorum for misdeeds. Only two even have any basis. The Huffington Post is notorious for making accusations that don't stick. That is because they connect dots that aren't necessarily actually connected.
If a PAC has made payments for him, it is more likely the PAC doing something illegal and not him. Candidates are not to communicate directly with a PAC. But that doesn't mean a PAC isn't following him closely and doing things they are not supposed to. You need to prove he is talking to the PAC - which in his history shows he has never done.
I gotta say, no matter how good your little girl's "turnaround" might be, you haven't really been setting the primaries on fire. Just drop out and spend time with your daughter. You can always run for President again but if things go bad you can never get that time back with your daughter.
Santorum says Rape Victims should think of the babies conceived during their assault as gifts from Gop, Is this guy sick or what ?
with a statement like that....yes
I'm assuming you meant from God but how it ended up rings true too.
Rick Santorum is a very boring man and he has strong ties to the Tea ReTards that are on their last legs. The overwhelming majority of Americans see Rick as a fool. He looks like a head spin in depression.
Fundamentalists like rick santorum are scary and plain ignorant...and why is it that so many like santorum and palin use their disadvantaged kids to their advantage? Fine christians I'll bet...
Jeffinva, God it was, thanks.
Time for Forthy to just drop out of the race and endorse the only smart conservative choice against Romney, the only choice that can beat Obama... Ron Paul 2012!
DB, you're forgetting about the LGBT voters. They wouldn't vote for santorum (google the word) if he were the last man on Earth. They are well organized, motivated and well-funded.
...so fine, put Santorum on the ticket. Works for me.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
I sincerely HOPE your daughter recovers quickly, however, with you being such a devout christian and all, I wonder why God allowed this to happen...just sayin.
Hey Rick HOMOPHOBIC Santorum (meaning you're probably Gay), didn't your wife live in SIN with a 60 year old ABORTIONIST for 6 years when she was 22? Didn't she take a friend to get an ABORTION saying, it's not that bad and just how would she know? You REEK of the FROTHY FECAL MATTER Google speaks of and so does your HYPOCRISY.
P.S. Hey Bill M., if you want to use my quotes why don't you have the balls & contact me?
Let's not forget Slick Rick's fleecing of the struggling Penn Hills School District for home schooling fees to the tune of 100 grand while he was Senator. Said he and his family including several children lived in an empty small cottage. My fixed income retired parents and their friends in Penn Hills were not happy about it at the time.
What will he do for Mitt? He's a religious freak.
Romney, or O'baaaaama. It doesnt matter. The people have spoken...more of the same it is
Question: Santorum is big on demanding an end to healthcare reform so people can pay out of pocket for their healthcare expenses and emergencies...Did Santorum pay out of pocket for his daughter's care or is that going to be paid for by taxpayers?
Boy oh boy...Do these GOPs talk a good line of cow dung. Everyone has to pay out of pocket according them but then when they have a healthcare emergencies, taxpayers pay for theirs just like we did for McConnell's.
They will milk and use his daughter illness for sympathy votes. That's pretty much how he will get a few more votes here and there in his pockets.
The man is a bigoted religious azzwipe. The daughter will be much better off without him in her life.
Santorum is a wealthy millionaire and can well afford to pay for his little daughter's health care by himself. Yet, it's all paid for by us taxpayers because he's a retired senator. However, he wants to make sure no one else (unless they're millionaires like him) can receive the same benefit.
By the way, I'm glad the little girl is doing better.
Key2Joy,
You are a disgusting individual. I would say a prayer for your blasphemous soul if I thought it would do any good. Just count your lucky stars God has more mercy than I do for you. This applies to the rest of you disgusting anti-God liberals that spill your filth upon msnbc. You are all disgusting for chastising Santorum for his love for his religion and the notion that all life is sacred...even a babies life. May God have mercy on all of you liberal democrats!
ewent, you are right to question Santorum's health care coverage. Let's have him go bankrupt trying to care for a daughter like a lot of us "regular" folks in America. The nerve of him to call for health savings accounts and "free-market" solutions. That's code for , "you're on your own, and don't cry just because you've lost your job and can't afford insurance".
It's disgusting how these Republican candidates don't give a damn about the American public struggling. The only thing they do is promise a job (when and how, candidates?), health savings accounts (boy, I guess I'll need to start saving now for that $500K heart transplant because I get a tax deduction that will knock the cost down to $450K), and to get rid of Obamacare, which will prevent anyone (except illegals) from going broke because of health care costs.
Thanks GOP, you've built up the military, but made the American public fall out of the middle class into poverty. But at least we'll have free markets for the richest to squeeze everything they can out of us.....what a joke.
Gee, Corky, you don't sound like an especially tolerant, forgiving or loving person yourself.
What is your religion?
It doesn't seem like it has anything to do with what Jesus taught, or how He lived His life.
...just sayin'.
Most of Santorums wealth is his retirement investments. What you are seeing is enough invested to live on about 60-70,000 per year. That is not very wealthy when you consider his senate salary was $165,000. A finacial advisor might tell him he is a bit low for the wage he had dfor 12 years.
There is a point in wage making that having health insurance is not worth it. It is somewhat lower than Rush Limbaugh, but certainly higher than Rick Santorum. Seems to me the number was $1,000,000 salary per year.
Key2Joy
Disagreeing with someone does not mean they are homophobic. Calling someone homophobic is kin to a spoiled teenager saying they hate mom and dad when mom and dad so "no".
kaybee
Perhaps not then activist section of the gay movement, but did you know there are gay conservatives? I think the gay community needs to accept what the religious groups have long accepted - "you can't always get what you want".
Religion does not belong in politics pure and simple , if you want to believe that there is a magical god out there who solves all our problems, and smites those who he doesn't agree with then you go right ahead , just don't shove it down mine or anybody else s throat , don't get me wrong I believe in a higher power, not necessarily god but a higher power nothing less, I have faith in things , but I don't tell people that this what you should believe in, and that my truth is the only truth because the truth of the matter is that there are many truths out there and who am I to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't believe in.
Are you suggesting the devil doesn't exist, because every doing isn't the work of God? So what appears to a blessing could actually be a curse.
If this little girl recovers, God be praised! But wait, didn't God inflict this disorder upon her as a part of His plan for her? I'm so confused!!!!!!
Whatever happened to JF Kennedy and Truman democrats? I used to be one of those, back in the 60's and 70's, but alas, they are long gone and all that's left appear to be little more than self-absorbed, tunnelvisioned people full of hate. I wonder--would JFK or Truman would even be welcomed by the left today? Probably not. Sad.
kaybeetoys - Gee, Corky, you don't sound like an especially tolerant, forgiving or loving person yourself. What is your religion?
Apparently civilized... and with enough wisdom and courage to call disgusting behavior what it is... disgusting and vile.
It doesn't seem like it has anything to do with what Jesus taught, or how He lived His life...just sayin'.
Why is it that hypocrites attempt to prove their own superiority by denigrating others and then end with "Just Sayin"?? Is it to justify themselves? ... Just wondering
empathy400 - 1) Religion does not belong in politics pure and simple 2) if you want to believe that there is a magical god out there just don't shove it down mine or anybody else s throat 3) I have faith in things , but I don't tell people that this what you should believe in 4) who am I to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't believe in... Good Question..
1) You are presenting your belief that religion does not belong in politics and stating it as a truth 2) You are denigrating the beliefs of others, calling them magic, then shoving what you believe down someone elses throat (actually, telling others to accept what you believe... which is that someone cannot tell another what to believe or what to do is a contridiction, you are telling them what to believe, and what to do) and 3) you are stating that they should believe what you believe in (that religion does not belong in politics). 4) who are you to tell others what they should believe in?
There is no empathy in that
I am aware of the Log Cabin Republicans. My point is that Santorum is simply anathema to gays , who have the political power to make sure he stays out of office. It's more an issue of them not getting what they don't want.
There are some things in life that must remain a mystery, even to someone as wonderful as yourself.
Have a nice day.
The First Amendment to the Constitution of The United States of America states:
It's commonly referred to as Separation of Church and State, and it is the BEDROCK on which this nation was founded.
But you're not buying it, eh?
I'd lay down my life for it.
eeewww- awe but you see I'm not running for president what I believe and what you believe is irrelevant , everyone is going to have there own beliefs , but if some idiot is going be are next president than he needs to be able to push his own beliefs aside for the greater good for all not just for some, this is America land of the free, it is not a theocracy, if you want to live in a country that is ruled by religion than move to Iran I heard that there doing great with all the torture and beheadings, and killing innocent woman and children on the street, is that really how you want this country to be , do you really want to go back to the 13th century, is that the kind of country you want your children living in, or do you want to live in a country where your children are free to be whoever they want.
Rick, Go take care of your little girl! She doesn't care if you are a janitor or the president of the United States! She is more important than all of the rest of us combined! She is only three. She needs you the most!
Rick Santorum took a dead fetus home from the hospital to pass around for eight hours over tea so everybody could say their goodbyes until law enforcement removed the dead fetus and took the dead baby back to the hospital. The hospital was very upset with Mr. Santorum. Is this guy Crazy or what ?
my stance is what is the govt doing telling a woman what she can and can't do with her own body?
Rick Santorum said "RAPE" victims should think of the babies conceived during their assault as "GIFTS FROM GOD"
Hey CORKY...PUT A CORK IN IT!
It would behoove you to do a little research on your "Grimm Fairy Tales" at zeitgeist.com
Patriotic... for you to critcize another human's way of grieving over a lost child is absolutely disgusting. When you lose a child you can go about grieving for it in your own way. An event like this can be mentally and emotionally devastating to parents and the entire family. You need to shut up and hope that your or someone in your family never has to go through with burying a new born!
MEN, you need to SHUT THE HELL UP about ABORTIONS until you can carry a child in your own body. If that did happen, they would allow drive-thru abortions at McDonald's, materinty leave would be 18 years long and there would soon be ZERO POPULATION GROWTH!
So shut the hell up about abortions unless you are a female of child bearing age!
...`a miraculous turnaround'..???...`without a doubt turned a corner'...? What kind of political spin is this? The child is still in ICU with a terminal genetic disorder. Yeah, I did the Wiki look up on Trisomy 18; there is no `happy' ending with thoughts and prayers. Well, gotta' get back on the road and not only lose the nomination, but loose the chance for you to re-boot yourself in 2016. I will remember this wrinkle in the fabric of your family values and so will the rest of this internet society.
Thank you Stephen - Santurum lost me when he said under Obama care his child would not have been taken care of - sorry this is a pre-existing condition and she will be well taken care of
I am so sick and tired of never missing a beat to lie - Where is Diogenes when you need him?
my daughter has a pre-existing heart condition, and without obamacare my wife and i would never be able to switch jobs, because new health plans would not cover her. now they do. we will pay a little more now to have her covered, which i understand.
Some good points in this branch. I don't hear these points about pre-existing conditions being made in the press by the talking heads. I'm a little bit suspicious about Santorum. On Friday it was reported he was going home to do taxes, am I right? Was he originally covering up the real reason or decided to use his daughter's illness for a positive bounce in the polls?
The good people of Pennsylvania kicked Rick Santorum out on his ass because of his very poor job performance. This guy is a loser, this guy is not qualified to be a dog catcher.
And exactly how does a Senator creat jobs for the citizens of the state they represent?
He left his critically ill 3-year-old in intensive care so he could get back on the campaign trail, even though he's polling at only 14% in Florida. He's been on the road since he announced back in June -- that's over one-sixth of his daughter's life. And her life will probably be measured in months, not years, poor little one. I wish her the best, but Trisomy 18 is a terrible condition.
Santorum's lucky he's a guy. If a woman had left her sick child like he has, everybody would be all over her, screaming about what a terrible mother she was. But kids need their fathers, too, and Santorum's place should be in that ICU, or home with the rest of his kids, who are probably pretty upset about their little sister's illness.
His willingness to put this presidential campaign over the needs of his family does not say much for his family values......
Thems is FAMILY VALUES for ya!
When you come right down to it, pretty much everyone has a terminal genetic condition, right? Yes, his daughter turned the corner, most likely because someone administered "miraculous" antibiotics. Tends to be pretty effective, regardless of someone's genetic condition. And there certainly are happy endings for families with children with genetic anomalies. Sometimes these kids outlive all doctors expectations. I personally know of two kids with Trisomy 18 that are over 30.
Mogul, I wouldn't put it past him at all. He uses his dead child to score political points with the anti-choice group all the time, conveniently leaving out the fact that his wife is on record as stating she would have had an abortion to save her own life.
Rick (HOMOPHOBIC, meaning he's probably GAY) Santorum's wife, Karen, lived with a 60 year old ABORTIONIST for 6 years starting when she was 22 tears old. She drove a friend to get an ABORTION telling her it wasn't so bad...and she knew this how? Rick, your GOOGLE moniker of Frothy Fecal Matter is most BEFITTING!!! Rick & Karen sittin in a tree H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y!
Ah, the word should have read YEARS...however, it was quite a lovely and apropos Freudian slip!
rick enjoys running. he was thrilled he is in the final four. he says he doesnt, but he must be hopinh the eventual winner will give him a kob.
I assume you meant "job"...not gonna happen.
The eventual winner will be Obama.
Santorum runs because it is his occupation. Campaign donations are his way of supporting his family.
Rick, Your little girl doesn't care if you're a janitor or the president of the United States! She needs you more and is more important than all of the rest of us combined! You can't get the time back that you'll spend away from her and the rest of your precious young family. Go home; take care of them!
Do you really think Santorum is going to read your post? No?? Then to whom did you write it? And why? To show how wonderful a person you are??? Please: Write a letter next time....
First of all, I am really happy that your daughter has made a turn for the better. She is still in the hospital and please don't make a big rush to leave her side. She needs her Daddy right now. I know you feel this is your calling to run for President, but your daughter should come first. You have no idea how long she will be with you and you need to spend as much time as you can with her. You will never regret the time you spent with her. You can run for President next time. I will continue to pray for Bella and your family.
This is just another spin to get sympathy, especially when he attacks everyone who doesn’t abide by his papal sick religious beliefs, being lock-step in with the pope who will protect pedo priest but don’t want people to be able to have preventions for unwanted babies, AND, protection against AIDS and other STD’s. One of their minions forbade protection even though the area had a higher degree of people getting AIDS. AND, this hypocrite and his wife who lived with an abortionist, had an abortion justifying it by saying her kids deserve a mother, but denying the same to others that may die without the procedure. He stole tax PA $ for home schooling his kids in VA, and lies about what Obama said about wishing all kids could be college ready or job ready. We saw that and the foundation he set up to "help" others, only to help himself to the money, and we also saw the K Street scandal he was involved in. He stopped it, then started the breakfasts up again when the heat died down. That's why he was kicked to the curb in PA. He’s just another Koch brother clone with health coverage that most people wish they had for their family, but he would deny that, too.
I'm grateful and thankful to GOD that Bella is recovering. I had planned on voting for Rick this Tuesday regardless of the what the polls show and still plan on voting for him.
Then you are voting for a guy who was willing to leave his toddler in the ICU to go back on the campaign trail to wage a presidential campaign he has no chance of winning. What a prince of a guy: father of the year.
And this person is one of the 4 left. Take a real good look at the other 3. They all suck, real bad. Why are they handing the election to Obama? Has big business decided they need Obama for another 4 yrs? I will give Mittens credit for one thing, he doesn't mention his religion that much, as compared to Newt and Frothy.
Wait until the next general election, Jeb Bush will be running, hoping everyone has forgotten how the Bush family screwed this country up. Guess what Jeb, that isn't going to happen. With the electronic means to instantly communicate with each other, more people will REMEMBER.
*shhh*...Mittens can't mention his religion... unless he's in Utah.
"I believe that a state should only allow Republicans to vote in a Republican primary" OF COURSE that's what you believe Rick!! Of course!! You Catholics never met a "rule", especially an EXCLUSIONARY RULE, you didn't love!! Let's go a few steps better, Mr. Biggot...Let's only allow males to vote (like the Catholic Church only allows males to be god-men, i.e. priests), let's set an age...how about under 30 (because most of us over 30 can think, and have no use for you), let's say no gay people (because the sweet lord condemns them to hell, right), and, what the hell, le'ts set some height and weight requirements while we're at it.
This is a Republican Primary! In your world, Democrats should vote in the Republican Primary.
As opposed to Limbaugh, who encouraged Republicans to vote in the Democratic primaries. Remember Operation Chaos, Mimi? Seems to me that turnabout is fair play.
Glad that the little girl is recovering. Santorum, who has ZERO chance to be President should do the right thing and concentrate on his daughter's needs. Family values means being there Ricky, not just lecturing others.
Yeah, let's see him walk the talk for once.
In the news today is the story of an Afghan husband, who slew his wife because she gave birth to a third daughter. That's the totally reprehensible mentality of the Santorums in this country as they regard women. He, Santorum, would use "Big Government" powers of the presidency to force women to bare the children of rapists. In this, the victimized women would be shackled to their attackers forever. In effect, Santorum would have the government subsidize the twisted joy of the rapists ad nauseam. Surely, Abe Lincoln and his party deserve better representation than this. Don't they?
Tim McCain - believe that a state should only allow Republicans to vote in a Republican primary "OF COURSE that's what you believe ... WOW... genuine toxic stupidity flowing freely and unashamed.. WOW!
And as for your name calling "Let's go a few steps better, Mr. Biggot" ... you rock!
I want to be like you when I grow up.... Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all could be just like you?
@newdayDAWNING...RETURNED.............good comment!
Just think, if Bella had been in Michelle Obama's womb, Barry H would have wanted her aborted because she was defective. Wonder which of Barry's two girls he would have aborted. All you frickin liberal idiots and PRO choice idiots can throw stones at me or Him or whoever, but this sick little girl is bringing light to the fact that life is precious and maybe her suffering will open others eyes to the real @!$%# that matters in this world and it ain't Power or Money. But vote however you want, because you liberals elected the most IDIOTIC/ARROGANT FRICKIN @!$%# IN HISTORY, just because you didn't like Bush. I didn't like him either, but I didn't vote for the arrogant ass POTUS who hasn't done @!$%#.
NotObama...you're full of it!. Let's just go back and see who was president when Roe vs Wade brought about the current abortion laws....one of you toad republicans....NIXON! What did he do to stop it? And what did Bush do to stop it in his 8 years of distruction? And what did the republican congress do to stop it from 1994 to 2006?
Wow..impressive, Notobama, how long have you been able to predict events that have never happened? Some folks have spent too much time in troll school. I guess spewing venom without a coherent point is a troll speciality.
Nobama, where's your concern for this LIVING child who needs a father by her side, not on the campaign trail? People talk about feminists abandoning their children to work - well, what about this raging mascunazi abandoning his child in a hospital room to go off in search of his ambition? And where was your concern for the child that Santorum and his wife aborted back in 1997? That one doesn't count b/c a republican was the one wanting the abortion, eh?
I would have aborted a fetus with Trisomy 18. I'm strongly pro-choice, but very unlikely to ever have an abortion myself. My test question is this however: Would a rational adult choose to live with this disease? If the answer I arrive at is "no," then how could I put a child through the suffering an adult wouldn't want to go through? Trisomy is one of the few diseases that passes that test (problems like spina bifida and Down's syndrome don't - I know too many people with fulfilling lives who have those disabilities). So yes, I would have aborted the fetus that became Bella if I was in that position - and I think most people would do the same.
I don't dispute the right of the Santorums to carry their pregnancy to term (that would be completely insane), and I don't judge them for that (actually I'm not sure they even bothered to get the testing to screen for Trisomy 18). However, I will feel free to judge Rick Santorum's character based on the fact that he is campaigning for an office he cannot hope to win when he has a seriously ill child at home who likely has very limited time. She is aware enough to know that her father is not with her, and I find his absence from her reprehensible. I had a best friend with a fatal genetic condition growing up - some days were very touch and go. She depended heavily on her parents for their support and comfort in her everyday life, not just when the disease was beating her down. And I remember what I was like when I was a toddler. I would wait up in my crib before I could even speak for my father to come home from his evening appointments. He was the center of my world. Bella deserves better (and from what I've read, at least some of Santorum's older kids feel the same).
notobama Your being really absurd. It must suck to be you, going around everyday so angry. There is a always one angry man just like you on here everyday. Its hard to get use to people like you but oh well. Life goes on.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
So Obama can count on your vote? BTW, family values mean being with your family at time of great need. He would earn points for leaving the race and trying again in 6 yrs. By continuing to go out means his family doesn't come first and thats the "REAL WORLD". If life is precious, shouldn't he be with his family. The same goes for Edward back in 08.
American's like voting for idiots. One only needs to point to 2000 or more so 2004. Come down off your high horse and see that you come from no position of superiority. Arogance is what we see everyday by the second level repubs via for the presidency. Arrogance wouldn't alow for compromise, in fact, Obama should be more arrogant, because he seems to compromise more in order to get the GOP to budge.
You should open your eyes and think for yourself then you could really call yourself American.
Steve B-310027 - NotObama...you're full of it!. Let's just go back and see who was president when Roe vs Wade brought about the current abortion laws....one of you toad republicans....NIXON! What did he do to stop it? And what did Bush do to stop it in his 8 years of distruction? And what did the republican congress do to stop it from 1994 to 2006?
Kool... a genius who understands the difference between what the president does, and what the Supreme Court does... Obviously all the rest of us stupid ones should have known that the President vetos what the Supreme Court does..., Right? And of Course we should have known that the Democrats in control of the senate during the time you mention are totally against abortion, right.... how stupid of us not to get this... YFI
Ahhh, thank you NotObama. I was wondering how long it would take, before one of you Christians showered us with your love, understanding, and kind words. You guys are sooooo predicatble, and sooo hypocritical. Peace and love brother or sister (such vileness and hatred...tsk..tsk..tsk)
Tim, what in "notobama's" remarks suggested that he/she was a Christian? seems more like you were reading into it and just have bitterness towards Christians. maybe you should examine your own heart.
@Tim McCain........So many are like notoobama aren't they Tim! I totally agree with your comment. So sad.
I wish his daughter a speedy recovery......as a lifelong conservative...I am extremely worried. If this is the best three candidates we have, then we are in big trouble......Romney can't remember what he had for breakfast.....Santorum is way over the TOP....too radical.....and Gingrich is a skirt chaser, and is about as trustworthy as a used car salesman.......we couldn't come up with anything better than these guys?....Come on? They are a laughing stock....they will be a tasty lunch if we don't do something quick, before the convention......
I cannot stand Santorum's lunacy politics but I am very glad indeed to hear his daughter is on the mends!
My family and I are independents and I have to agree with you, if these are the best that the GOP can come up with, that's sad. What is sadder is that these guys get votes. If BOTH parties cannot come up with better candidates than these, then what future does our country have? Heaven help us.
message to the board...please refrain from anything but well wishes for his daughter and healing for his family. My heart...yes the non-believer heart....breaks for him and his family over this issue and I wish them the best.
Finally! someone with some decency and common sense! I was reading these comments and getting sick of humanity if all anyone can do is spew venom towards a man with a sick child.....all anyone had to do was say i hope she gets better and i wish their family the best.....thank you Tim McCain for being a voice of reason
Family is important. But not as important as ambition, I suppose. Family values are not real in that world - they are merely a political tool to talk about and not actually practice.
Boy I bet Santorum is thankful he has health insurance....unlike 50,000,000 other Americans
He can resume is campaign, but it's a quixotic mission. His appeal is limited to the extreme right pseudo christians - the talibaptists, as someone else here once described them.
So this religious fascist can't even read the signs? God is saying,"Stay home dude. Or next time it might be worse!"
The religion that doesn't appear to be attacked by liberal's is black liberation theology??
Maybe we should nationalize it and we could all "Damn America" together???
ABO- vote soros, van jones and obama OUT in November!!!!!
Nice segway to promote your non-topic issues............
Thanks, I hope Omsnbc don't get upset about my opposition to your and their messiah???
I don't understand why you haters seem to like to refer to the President as your messiah.
let's usher in Adelson and his Zionist agenda, pulling Gingrich's strings, or Santorum, either of whom would start a war with Iran in a heart-beat while seriously curtailing freedom in this country, especially for women... or maybe Romney with his wacky religion, looking forward to becoming a god of another planet when he dies. Give me a break!!!
Santorum doesn't stand a chance in hell he should stay home with his child and actually walk the walk.
Wishing the best for Santorum and his family. His daughter needs him now and he will be regarded as a hero by doing the right thing!
And for God's sake please be mindful and respectful of a sick sick child.
This child is the best argument for birth control and abortion when needed. His wife was 48 when she was born and 48 year old woman should not have babies. The poor child has lived 3 years with probably a terrible quality of life and the long term prognosis for her is grim.
Some pregnancies were not meant to end in a birth. Most people who were going to have a child like this would have aborted so I give Santorum props for standing by his beliefs but I feel this child was not served well by being born.
Santorum will not help Romney, his views are to extreme for mainstream America.

Wow! Nice call for eugenics there bud.... What about personal Liberty?
Attitudes like this are part of the problem in America today.
That's not eugenics, Egilman. It's common sense.
Of course the Santorums have the right to choose whether to use birth control or not. We should ALL have that right, should we not? (...not if Santorum had his way.)
With rights come responsibilities. If Rick Santorum and his wife choose to keep having children past the time in her life when it is medically safe to do so, then they should fully accept, embrace, and shoulder the consequences of their decision.
They have no right to tell others how to make such a decision.
Who are you to say that women should not have babies at 48. God made women to be able to have babies up until the age they can't have anymore. If it was so horrible to have babies in your 40s then God would have made women to have menopause in their 30s or 20s so they can't have anymore. A lot of women get pregnant in their 40s and chose to keep their babies instead of murder them because they are people who still have morals and feelings about other human beings.
Women should have babies at any age! Eleven, fifteen! Fivty-seven! Who am I to tell them not to!?
It's not medically optimal to try to have a baby when you're 48, but what do we care about the health and well-being of children? If it interferes with a woman's desire to have a baby, who cares? It's all about the parents! It's their rights and desires that should always come first.
[/sarcasm]
Common sense talks to us...if we will only listen.
Or perhaps the pregnancy wasn't intentional and they decided to take responsibilty for the unexpected gift and treat it that way instead of an inconvient accident.
The United States will never elect a social conservative as President.
Duhhh... with the exception of carter, Clinton, johnson, and whatever joke is ruining things now... who do you think founded this country and what values do you think has run this country for over 200 years ... liberals and progressive socialist values? I think not... and anytime you long for that liberal progressive socialist type of government there is all the rest of the world for you to go to... be careful though, not all of it is progressive...
:)
This Guy is Not beyond using this beautiful little girl as a Prop. Santorum has the Morals of a Snake!
I can't stand Santorum's politics. It elevates social paranoia to an artform. But I'm glad his little girl is getting better.
