Gingrich vows to go 'all the way to the convention'

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- With just three days to go until the Florida primary, Newt Gingrich told reporters Saturday he is in this presidential race for the long haul.

“I will go all the way to the convention. I expect to win the nomination,” Gingrich told reporters following an event outside the PGA Museum. “You just had two national polls that show me ahead. Why don’t you ask Gov. Romney what he will do if he loses since he is behind in both national polls?”

The former House speaker, who convincingly won the South Carolina primary, says he will get to the GOP convention in Tampa “state-by-state.” “If we win Florida, I will be the nominee,” he also noted to the couple hundred people in the crowd.

GOP rival Mitt Romney and Gingrich are fighting it out down in the Sunshine State this week – throwing jabs at each both on their own and with surrogates.

Romney continues to call Gingrich “Goldilocks” – making fun of him for complaining about the audience at debates. Gingrich reiterates his assertion that Romney lies because the campaign is desperate, telling reporters Saturday, “You cannot debate somebody who is dishonest.”

Surrogates from the Romney campaign stand in the back of most Gingrich events to give a “rebuttal” to the press. Saturday outside the golf museum, three members of Congress – Rep. Charlie Bass, R-N.H., Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fla., and Rep. Mary Bono Mack, R-Calif., – stood chatting when Gingrich campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond, for the third day in a row, approached the group and began asking questions.

Gingrich told reporters curious what he thought of the way his spokesman interacts with members of Congress that it is “a free country” and sees the Romney campaign sending supporters to his events as evidence of “desperation.”

“It's a slight overmatch – R.C.'s a little bit more informed than they are, but nonetheless, it's fine with me, he [Romney] can send as many members as he wants. When he gets tired we'll bring Toby back and Toby's agreed to help R.C. take a hit,” Gingrich said. [Toby is R.C. Hammond’s dog.]

One Romney surrogate, Rep. Bass, served with Gingrich in the House back in the '90s and said voters should listen to those who worked with the Speaker.

“He is a good guy but he is not going to be president of the United States,” Bass said. “He knows it, we know it, the people of Florida will know it next Tuesday.”

Ah! (from CABARET)--"I sleep in the middle..." "I'm left!" "And I'm right!" "But there's room on the bottom if you drop in some night..."

    (more from "Two Ladies").

Well, we know who will be on the bottom if Newt is elected, anyway--us!

Okay, Newt's latest wife is his former intern---these 2 would meet in the cafeteria of the U.S. Supreme Court to continue their affair, while, at the same time, Newt was pushing for Clinton's impeachment. Mighty white of the two of em. Now she's standing beside him at the podium with her frozen smile and hairdo, just like George W's wife used to do for years. Isn't this enough of a bad memory? Vote for Romney, Obama, or even Pat Paulsen (remember him?). Pat used to say, "I'm neither left wing or right wing---I'm the middle of the bird."

This message is to all of you Republicans. No matter who wins the nomination, they all are some way or the other Looney Toons who represent nothing but a big, huge JOKE. I would have a different point of view if the party was being represented by someone with mentalities like Ronald Reagan or Richard Nixon, that would be another ball game but with these looneys, what a joke they all are.

How could South Carolina vote for Newt. This man is the biggest joke to ever run for any office. He is in it for the long haul to a land of fantasy.

Just remembering Newt's personal and political activities from not so long ago allows for a "full circle" in terms of astonishment! I cannot believe the audacity of this man especially when he utilized the God and forgiveness card. Not to mention such antiquated hyperbole "food stamp administration" and a NEW work ethic for needy recipients of government assistance. Whew! "And the hits just keep on coming..."

Heads up Good Old Boys of GOP!
Former Florida State Attorney General Bill McCollum, raised questions about Romney's past service on the board of Damon Corp., a Massachusetts medical testing company that pleaded guilty in 1996 to billing Medicare fraudulently and paid a $119 million fine.
The issue is "fair game" and "raises a serious question about (Romney's) corporate judgment," McCollum said.

Also using phrases related to Fire-ing people just shows Romney's weak mind trying to express itself forcefully.

Did Romeny regularly fired those troublesome visionaries on his staff to cut down on the competition? Is that true big guy?

Our choice for Presidential should be based on one question. Which candidate will go to Washington and kick the demons out of those corrupt Washington Congressmen?

"Greed is the root of all evil"

Romney's perception is not our reality! His income is over $50,000 per day!

Newt is a puppet on the end of Adelsons very short string,
every time Newt is running low on cash or ego he is hitting the casino looking
for more. At some point Newt will have to explain why his financial backer
thinks poor people are retards and why he regrets serving in the US
military. To me if you have a supporter like, a string of wives that you have
cheated on, ethic problems from when you were the speaker of the house and an
idea to continue a space program to put a colony on the moon rather that
rebuild lost jobs and homes here on earth then you are the wrong guy. Newt just
seems like he should be selling a vacuum cleaner or used cars. Newt has a real
easy tell when he is lying and I am surprised that the media in all their
splendor has not yet picked up on it so to do a solid to those who have not
been able to pick up on Newts tell here it is…. You can always tell when the
Newt is lying whenever his lips are moving and he is breathing. Not sure why he
thinks he should be the President or even in politics with the reputation he
has he would be best suited as a slimy salesman on the moon.

so you judge by looks? guess thats why we got a Coca Cola advertisement president who won the last election,,, maybe those corporate add execs and their psychology gimmicks really do work for a blinded America..look we just want guys who know the founding father principles and generate a good solid economy and a free liberty private sector so ordinary people can spend money and roll the economy without too much government. go live in the mountains if you judge by appearances and dont like salesmen outfits..

It is unbelievable that these gonzos are taking it to each other in the open while mutually revealing how bad they could be for this nation. I do not want to believe that any one of these two will be elected. If we do elect Romney or Newt we will surely deserve what will come to us. The underdog is Ron Paul. Hopefully Florida will make a stand out statement.

thats is what all politics was and ever will be,,, good healthy debate ,, iron sharpens iron,,,you too blind to read between the lines and see the facts?, somethings are worth fighting for. your ignorance is why so many come up with a strategy of wearing a mask instead of being real and themselves.

                  Barabas,

Only the harder steel sharpens the weakest. Only a sick mind can see health in these kind of debates where the conversation spins around wrong-doings and not about values, proposal for a better future and better society. If you want to fight for your own ignorance it's up to you but, please, do not try finding your ignorance in someone else. You still can elevate your level of discussion without resorting to offending when finding yourself lost and baseless, but get more education first...

Republicans actually fight for something that is seen as worth it, not diminishing the value and greatness of America by settling for mediocre and the allowance of people who refuse to contribute and work. Democrats are coddling everyone into complacency and government owned decadence without any balance. Keep applauding socialism, you'll see what you were warned about but it will be too late then. But you have your rights,, if thats what the majority wants guess thats what they will get.

anytime someone says that about someone it is a key indication they lie and are not true to the heart of the matter, what it really means is that you want to be politically correct and cordial perhaps and you really hate that person but instead they try to downplay the hate and smear of that person and offer a very big....BUT.. Romney and Gingrich are both politicians and that's the game, no one should be offended you expect that when running,,, just tell the truth all you Roman esque senators and delegates and BS artists things could get real third world here in America if we are not careful and the future is in the hands of jerks like Bass. Come on Romney does not even control his ad campaigns,, the media never tells the story right, probably run by liberals and Democrats(leftist conspiracy? maybe hmmm) and socialists, knowing Gingrich will crush Obama they never tell how Gingrich in every debate is the only one who knows anything wise at all and the only open book and always wins the debates. Few watch the primary so too many will read the paper and never gives an accurate depiction of papa Newt....

Barabas- Seriously? These haven't been 'debates'. Newt and Mitt have spent the whole time taunting reach other and trying to spout the best slogan. It is an embarassment. The only one offering solutions instead of mud, is Ron Paul. Stop, step back, and consider who is likely to vote for any particular candidate. Consider OWS, moderates, conservatives, christians, independents, middle class, poor, wealthy. Dismiss the hard-core Dems and Repubs-they will vote for their party regardless. Your feelings aside (and they only matter to the one who holds them) What groups will pull for Obama? Romney? Gingrich? A huge pile of voters in the middle support Paul. They will not be persuaded to vote for any of the others. Ever. This will probably be Obama by default.

So we should vote for someone arrogant enough to talk about a second term before even being elected? Newt wants to spend hundreds of billions of dollars, if not several trillion in an idiotic attempt to colonize the moon just to say it belongs to the U.S.. What is he going to do? Shoot every non U.S. craft that gets close to the moon?

He was against making D.C. a state when it had half a million residents, but now thinks 13,000 moon colonists is enough for statehood. If hypocrisy was a person, it's name would be Newt.

Talk about power hungry. Not to mention a person hell bent on spending money we don't have on a plan that is, well, out of this world. If you want to talk about a third world status, vote for Newt. He wants to take over the moon.
