well that was fast ... nothing new ... some bruising ... send in the mop and bucket and when you vote for one of these characters hang your head in shame. They care not but for themselves. However, portrait painters are hopeful. The bard has left the building.

I think Santorum and Paul tied for first. Romney and Newt looked pathetic.

But if you include my natural bias, Paul won hands down.

Zzzzzzzz fairly uneventful debate. Couple of nose bleeds, but no good hits. Neither Romney or Newt are willing to bring the sideshow into the main ring. Since Romney is slightly more aggressive in the sideshow, I could see Romney potentially winning Florida. The big unknown is the Tea Party that elected Rick Scott and Marco Rubio. Neither of those were the establishment candidate. Is it 2012 like 2010...

  • 2 votes
#2.6 - Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:49 PM EST

However, Rick Scott is now the most unpopular governor in the nation. That might play into things. And Rubio listens to Jeb.

Could not bring myself to watch this debate but the tweets were great! Sounds as if Newt lost his anger between this morning and tonight--he hasn't quite got the anger timing down yet.

All the serious issues to discuss and it was spent arguing about who had more Fannie and Freddie stock and putting an American colony on the moon when we can't even find the money to fix our electrical grid on earth.

The question is will the GOP base support Romney?

  • 1 vote
#2.11 - Thu Jan 26, 2012 10:41 PM EST

3/4 of them, and that is probably being generous, are mindless voters that vote the party line. The base will support Romney and if the hatred for Obama is still there come November, then they will turn out at the ballots. The bigger question is if the left rests on their laurels and stays home.

So, in one sentence Santorum goes from Central America to radical Islam ... I am surprised that he did not end on thou shalt not spill thine seed. My question to those who would vote for the 'modern' GOP is how can you stand in line next to someone who would vote for such regressive crap and vote the same way. I know, it's all about the economy, so screw any other value because the only issue is bread. I at times think that many of you think soul is a fish.

That's awesome Newt ... consider yourself recognized for whatever you did in the distant past. Now, eat your jello and get back into bed. I'll get your medication ready.

As an Independant, I have good reason to watch this debate since I haven't made up my mind yet about who to vote for. I just find it humorous that many liberals on here watch the GOP debate when they already have their vote lamenated for Obama. That is good that you have your mind made up, but what is the point of watching the GOP debate? It seems like a big waste of time. You realize your 20% is gonna cancel out the other sides 20% and vice versa. Its the 60% like me that needs convincing. I read these blogs and neither side does not do a good job convincing. So tell me liberals, why should I vote for Obama? Give me your best argument. Tell me conservatives, why should I vote for one of these candidates I just watched. Give me your best argument. My prediction would be something like this: Obama retains the Presidency by about 50 electoral votes. House Republicans lose about a dozen seats but still have the majority. The Senate changes control to the Republicans as they pick up about 6-8 seats.

So, mitch, I will ask the question, who did you like best tonight? (And there are some GOP posters here, like Egilman).
