MOUNT DORA, Fla. -- Newt Gingrich trained his full arsenal of weaponry on Mitt Romney at a rally here Thursday morning, charging that his opponent wouldn't stand up to President Obama in a general election and questioning his commitment to the GOP.

It was the harshest critique Gingrich has leveled to date and may be a reflection of his slackened showing in the polls. It also underscored Gingrich's strategy of capitalizing on the free media and momentum he tends to capture in debates; tonight CNN is hosting the final debate before Florida voters render their judgment on Tuesday, and the former House speaker's remarks seemed designed to tee up a confrontational line of inquiry from moderator Wolf Blitzer.

I think Newt is setting up a plate of hushpuppies and Ideology's Spanky grits.

Side note here. the University of North Florida is where my granddaughter ran her latest 5K. She came in 5th out of 500. (And was disappointed, she really wanted the win). I will mention here she is 11 years old and most of the runners were much older than her. (Do I sound like the proud grandmother or what!)

How come no stories on the " VEGAS MOB " buying the presidency for Newt ? And did Newt's advise to FANNY cause the "HOUSING CRISIS"? Newt was just caught in a lie about a open marriage it was just on the news.

Stop insulting the Vegas Mob. Adelson may have put his money in, but respectable "legitimate businessmen" like a sure thing, which he is not. Just ask wife #1 or #2.

I read that about 40 million people watched the SOTU Tuesday night...down from previous years. I'd like to know how many people are watching these debates.

What's at stake in and from Florida is the freedoms we now have. The current crop of generic candidates vying for the nomination in the Republican Primary all espouse no taxation increases to the most affluent in America. President Obama paid nearly double the tax rate of Mitt Romney in 2010, despite earning only a fraction of the income. The president paid 25 percent of his gross income in federal tax, compared to Romney’s 13.7 percent. Equal and proportionate taxation across the board should be the norm. 6.2% of wages up to an annual wage maximum ($106,800 in 2010) for Social Security and a tax of 1.45% of all wages for Medicare. Romney and the super-rich do not pay anywhere near that rate because of past legislation by the Congress to tax at a lower rate on certain other means of income. The average American working for wages will pay taxes on $106,800. The average wage earner will not make more than that. People like Romney, Obama, Gingrich, Paul and Santorum have other sources of income taxed at a lower rate, because the Congress has allowed it. There is no valid excuse for this to continue. Social Security would never have had any funding problems if ALL sources of income, no matter what the source, were taxed up to $1,000,000.00 dollars. Corporate taxes could be lowered to compete on the world stage and get corporations back to America. These guys want to make women chattel as women should have no one getting involved between their doctor and themselves when it comes to their pregnancy.

You my friend are an idiot.

That's funny, coming from someone who never has an intelligent thing to say in these posts.

JFK, you must have been looking in the mirror as you posted that. Everything that Rudy said was spot on. You need some kind of happy pills or a suppository or something.

The 99% have allowed the 1% too much freedom to allow them the ability to sell off American jobs to overseas outsourcing. After creating the huge employment losses they insult us to believing we should be grateful to getting a job back and earn 10-20% less and look forward to paying more taxes while their other sources of income in foreign markets allow them to pay less in taxes. I believe the "Occupy Wall Street" is correct to address the imbalance accross the strata in our social economical base. The middle class and lower class families have become enslaved to the policy makers ill balanced taxes and job strategies.

Actually some polls have shown that Obama will have an easier time against Gingrich than agains Romney. Although Obama is likely to win against either of them it will be closer with Romney as his opponent than with Gingrich. Newt's ego just can't handle the truth.

This not a real political debate America! It is another GOP?RNC Clown Show of very "Economically Evil" individuals that have NO clue at all. The GOP/RNC "Koch Brother's Circus" is in full swing! The GOP/RNC Clowns are getting ready to "Super Spew" under the Tea Begger Big Top! The The Tea Beggers will be singing, dancing, and drinking lots of rotten tea. This traveling GOP "Clown Show" will be NOT talking about the struggles of the Middle Class, the Working Poor, the elderly, or disabled. "Nutty Newt" the man who loves to "Politically Puke." Has deep Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae connections, and has been strongly involved in the currect housing failures. The "Romulian" has NO intention of creating NEW jobs however, he has plans to send them overseas. Again! Will the GOP Clowns talk about economic insourcing of jobs?? Will the GOP Clowns talk about investing in the crumbling American Infastructure?? Will they talk about how the GOP "Hoodlum's On The Hill" voted to destroy Social Security?? Will the GOP Clowns discuss the massive oil tax payer subsidies that they have given to "Big Oil??" I doubt it America!

It doesn't matter which of the two gets the most votes. They are still losers. Gingrich is a demagogue with a checkered past, and Romney is a liar with a hidden past. There has not been a single Republican candidate in the top tier of the 2008 and 2012 presidential primaries that Romney has not lied about. He even lied to McCains face in their final debate at the Reagan Library. That is why he wasn't on the ticket for V.P. and why Palin was fetched out of deserved obscurity.

I like the clown show statement, what a crew. How newt got as far as he has is amazing. He was a terrible years ago, how quickly americans forget, we are moving forward, send the tea party down the road, with the citizen united law and we just might have a chance. Put tariffs back on all imports, and go to the tax system that Buffet is behind for the rich, without these changes this country is in a serious position to fail.

          Reply#9 - Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:56 PM EST

One of our biggest mistakes was when the tariffs were lifted. It is time to bring corporations back to America.

Food should never be brought from other countries. Look at the call backs we have had. I thre a fit when the did this, and I still believe this is one of the reasons for what is going on in the no jobs section now.
