Gingrich Freddie Mac contracts to be released before debate

Newt Gingrich's former consulting company will release his contracts with Freddie Mac this evening before the NBC debate, a spokeswoman confirmed. Gingrich was reportedly paid $1.6 million under the contracts and Romney had made disclosure of the contracts a major issue in the last day.

The spokeswoman for the Center for Health Transformation said she documents will be released by 7 p.m.

Gee, maybe now we'll know if Gingrich was an "historian" as he claims; it should say right in the contract "for services as a historian".

I see to day that Tim Pawlenty called Newt's historian and strategist lines "B.S."

I'm wondering if it actually says Blingrich was a "Historian". If it doesn't, that's lie 1. If it actually does, Blingrich may do the "told you so" routine... But how is this NOT lobbying again?????

I loathed George Bush. Loathed him. But it would never have occurred to me in a million years to ask a sitting president to produce his college transcripts. And if others of my political persuasion had asked Bush to produce them, I would have called them idiots. Nothing is gained by having the president produce his transcripts. It's a distraction that serves no purpose. It's one of the many kinds of distractions that lead us away from conversations that really matter. And you're smart enough to know that. So drop it.

But see Jack - they produced Bush's trascripts Hell, we even got to see Perry's grades.

Everything Jack. Transcripts. law review articles, all employment contracts.

See Jack I take the view that nothing is gained by keeping things hidden.

Like Newt and Mitt. We know Mitt paid his taxes, and we know the rate. We also know that Newt got paid by Freddie.

But golly, it sure seems like many out there thinks there is something t be gained by actually getting to see the records.

Let it all out. It's easy, honest, and the right thing to do.

Spankx .... has nothing to do with to do with Gingrich ... it is all about Romney's taxes and what they were in the early to late 90's. and you would be all over Obama if that were an issue

    #2.6 - Mon Jan 23, 2012 6:12 PM EST

    Nope.

Unless they are GERMAINE to the issue at hand, the calls to release anything other than tax returns and financial disclosure statements by golly, IS BS.

The Romney camp's lame attempts to deflect Mitt's non-disclosure of his taxes was and is transparent and disingenuous, laughable really. You can tell who some of the oh so reticent "conservatives" are silently supporting when you see who "swallowed the bait"...

Newton has trumped Team Romney yet again by taking bullets out of Mitt's little gun before he even has the chance to draw...They're sweating right now, and with good reason...

Don't make you an idiot Spanx, just a little gullible and maybe a little naive to boot..intelligence has not so much to do with it, it's more a true-believer thing...

Nope. No one forced Bush or Perry to release their transcripts. And I'm not sure they actually did. They told people what their grades were, but so far as I know they didn't release transcripts. And even if they did, it was purely voluntary--they did it on their own.

You want to see his law review articles? It's a legitimate request. But I thought you were a lawyer. If you've gone to law school you know how easy it would be to find the articles and read them. No one's hiding them. This casts doubts on you being who you claim to be.

We don't know Mitt's tax rate. He said he "thinks" it was about 15%. Asking him for his tax records and asking Newt for records on how much he earned from Freddie and Fannie is fair game. And if the president has tax returns you want to say, he should release them.

But the college transcript business is like the birth certificate nonsense. Surely even you know that.

time for the great Irish joke ... the great divorce so to speak between ideology and view ... there is none.

One day two lads, Phil O’Phine and Phil O’Phancy, were sharing a pint of Guinness at Dangerfield’s Emporium & Pub that had a fine view of O’Rodney’s house of ill repute across the way. Well a pint or two passed and lo and behold who should come sauntering down the road and enter O’Rodney’s but Father No’Shamus, a fine and upstanding Minister of the local Protestant church.

“Well”, says Phil to Phil, “will you look at that and a married man too. Is there no wickedness a Protestant will not do?”

“Aye”, says Phil to Phil. “Let’s have another pint and we’ll think no more of it.”

Well that pint turned into another and lo and behold who should come sauntering down the road and enter O’Rodneys but Rabbi O’Gingrich, a man of former religious persuasion so to speak.

“Well”, says Phil to Phil, “will you look at that and a thrice married man too. Is there no wickedness a Hebrew will not succumb to?”

“Aye”, says Phil to Phil. “Surely another pint is in order and we’ll speak no more of it.”

Well that pint turned into another and lo and behold who should come sauntering down the road and enter O’Rodney’s ; none other than Phil and Phil’s Catholic priest Father O’Surge.

“Saints preserve us”, says Phil to Phil. “One of the girls must have died.”

The moral equivalency crowd always counters one of theirs with one of yours. It's pretty stupid, as HUMAN NATURE, like CORRUPTION, knows no political party, but they do it here all the time.

It's wrong to cheat, but beyond the "character" issue, it is personal issue that the individuals in the relationship must deal with. Corruption is WRONG whoever is the crooked pol, PERIOD.

If the children posing as political contributors here could agree that infidelity and corruption are HUMAN foibles, and refrain from compiling ridiculous, mile long lists to PROVE how awful the other side is, or countering with one of yours, it would be a blessing.

Oh Spanx and all the moral equivalent-ists here

Bill and Hillary Clinton SURVIVED his infidelity, and are still married almost 20 years later. I think Newton was banging wife #2 while wife #1 was in the cancer ward, when he was speaking out against President Clinton's unforgivable moral lapse...We could save everyone a lot of embarrassment by just admitting we are all flawed vessels and leave it at that...

What went on in "Quiet Rooms" at Freddies Mac and Fannie Mae will never be known. According to "Nutty Newt" he was a poorly paid historian. Really??? What possible history could he give to Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae?? This is not news at all America! Did he state that their are no good role models in Govenment Housing?? Did he give a fictional history of how the individuals in Government housing do not work?? Did "Nutty Newt" try to make a historical connection between food stamps, public housing, and no work ehtic?? "Nutty Newt" is no intellectual, and no idea of what his past policies have done to the nation. That is fact!

That was to impeach President Clinton on the charge of PERJURY, not having an affair, not for eating to many big macs, not for failing to do anything about terrorist attacks on the U.S., not about being forced by the SCOTUS to testify. You liberals need to get your BS straight, Clinton WAS NOT impeached for having an affair, only for PERJURY (Lying under oath), what part of that do you not understand?

Clinton was not impeached for having an affair, accusation of rape, eating to many big macs, cheating on his wife, committing adultery. While the crime of perjury can be committed in both civil and criminal cases, perjury prosecutions arising from civil lawsuits are extremely rare.

            http://www.criminal-law-lawyer-source.com/terms/perjury.html

            _____________________________________________________________________________________

Did you know that President Clinton was the first and only President to be the defendant in a civil suit while in office, breaking 200 plus years of insulating the President against nuisance lawsuits? Disd you know that it took a Supreme Court decision to allow the Paula Jones Sexual Harassment case?

The Paula Jones case precipitated Clinton's impeachment. Charges of perjury and obstruction of justice were brought against Clinton based on statements he made during the depositions for the Jones lawsuit. The specific statements were about the nature of his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, with whom he denied having a sexual relationship.

            Yet;

The lawsuit was dismissed before trial on the grounds that Jones failed to demonstrate any damages.

            ________________________________________________________________________

So the President perjured himself about having sex with Monica Lewinsky in depositions for a Civil Lawsuit that never went to trial...

In NYC, school janitors make over $100,000 . Is that a good reason for you to demean this work??

I see we can count Leona among Newt's loyal sheep.

See, folks, Leona has bought into one of Newt's shiny objects. He made the claim back in December, "If you take one-half of the New York janitors who are unionized and paid more than the teachers, an entry-level janitor gets paid twice as much as an entry-level teacher."

Unfortunately, the fact-checkers called it BS.

Entry-level pay for a teacher is $45,530 if you have a Bachelors and $51,425 if you have a Masters.

Now, first lets establish that there is no job title of "Janitor" in the NYC public school system. There are "Custodial Engineers" and the entry-level pay is higher than that for a teacher. Entry-level pay for a custodial engineer is $81,000, but the union's contract with the city actually starts the employee at 70% of the base in his/her first year. The pay then increases by 10% each year until you reach the final base pay. So, really, in his/her first year a custodial engineer can expect to make $56,000.

As you can see, it is not twice what a teacher gets paid as Newt claims.

"Outrage," you say. "It's still more than a teacher gets paid! Let's get rid of them like Newt says!"

Well, not quite. See, these custodial engineers are supervisory positions that Newt would keep as part of his plan to have kids be janitors. We're talking about trained staff who aren't just pushing a mop. We're talking about workers who are asked to be responsible for hiring, training, payroll and basic repairs to things like plumbing, heating and electricity.

To get to a level of employee that Newt is talking about eliminating, we're talking about the job title of "Cleaner". The entry-level pay for a cleaner is $18.13 per hour which works out to approximately $37,710 over the course of a year. But, again, thanks to the union's contract with the city, for the first 2 years a cleaner makes 85% of the base pay...approximately $32,054.

...and I guarantee that they worked harder doing their job than Newt did "not lobbying" for Fannie and Freddie!

I'm surprised that Freddie/Fanny didn't ask for their money back. According to the MTP interview, Newt claims his $1.3m recommendation was more regulations. WTF? A GOPer claiming more regulations after shouting from the mountain tops that regulations kill jobs.

              Dangerfield,

Perjury, under federal law is defined as a felony.

The law suit brought by Paula Jones was settled, without a trial, for $850,000 to Paula Jones. BTW, I am sure Paula Jones didn't see it as a "nuisance law suit".

Yes, the Supreme Court (in a unanimous) ruling stated that a sitting President has no immunity from civil law litigation against him for acts done before taking office and unrelated to the office.

Did you know that the independent counsel chose to decline criminal prosecution in favor of "alterntive sanctions" which included a fine of $90,000 by Federal judge Wright for "intentionally false testimony", loss of his law license and loss of right to practice in the Supreme Court, and his impeachment.

Personally I don't care about what Clinton did but I am tired of the left claiming he was impeached for having and affair.

Your list of names for repubs....... Mickey Mouse, Bonehead, Romulian, Goofy, Zombie, Bashers, Tea Beggers etc...does nothing for your feigned outrage. You are so obviously rediculous in your argument.

                    "Treason, you said "?? LOL

"Mickey Mouse Mitch McConnell" is leading the parade tonight at Disney World! Now that would be scary!

Good old Mitch heard that Obama left an opening at Disney World when he went back to D.C. recently.

Did Obama ever release how much money he got from Fannie and Freddie?

When is Newt going to release all the records on the ethics violations?

Those in the Democrat party lean to the Left so they ignored what Obama was all about in 08 ( community organizer and he adopts Socialist policies).

The liberal media is "in the bag" for Obama, so I suspect we'll only hear flowery BULSH#$ rhetoric from Obama and nothing of substance tonight and the media will let him have a pass. AGAIN.

Obama will talk about his favorite subject "income inequality" as if that issue can even make a dent in the problems we face.

Meanwhile the country is going down fast because the REAL problems are DEBT, UNEMPLOYMENT, IRAN etc.
