Discuss this post

David Gregory did an excellent job moderating the last NBC Republican debate. He was smart as a tack, professional, and came off as better informed than the people running for office. Then, on Meet The Press this Sunday, he was back to playing softball with the politicians. I thought he was going to beg Gov. Christie to run as VP.

What is up with Gregory's uneven performance? I'm wondering if someone behind the scenes writes his tough questions, but when he is winging it on MTP he reverts to his brown nosing self. It isn't that I am just a partisan and want to see Republicans held at arm's length. I understand Tim Russert was big on talking football with anyone and everyone, and he still asked sharp questions. It's just, when Gregory does it, I feel he's diminishing his objectivity, maybe because he doesn't follow up politician's answers with sharper questions. Holding a pol's feet to the fire should last more than a second. Especially when you spend so much time yukking it up with the creeps.

Here is a 'Programming Note.' Tough questions need to be asked of "Romulian Romney." Who completed his taxes since he began his CEO career at Bain Capital?? How were his taxes completed in the years since the 1980's. Why will the "Romulian" only release his taxes since 2010? Why will he not release his taxes since 1995? How much "Cheating" went on since 1995?? How much is being "Shredded" right now?? How large were his tax loop holes during the 1980's?? Bring on more Americans that lost their jobs. When the "Romulian" CEO of Bain Capital took over their company. How many good paying jobs were outsourced? What did the American Workers loose in Health Care Benefits, and out of their pensions?? It needs to be strongly stated that what "Romullian Romney" did may have been economically legal?? Was what he did in the interests of all Americans?? Just a very few Americans?? For helping NO Americans at all?? How much is the "Romulian" still making his from Bain Capital?? Where is the "Romulian's Jobs Plan?? What is his tax plan like?? Is it fair for all?? Do more of putting a human face and story on all reporting. This will send home the message very clearly that the "Romulian" has NO clue of what "Humanity" means. These questions about fairness, and humanity are very "Alien" to "Nutty Newt" as well. This would be a good start!

Can't seem to understand what the focus on Mitt Romney's taxes is all about.

Yes, he made a lot of money. Yes, he enjoys the capital gains advantage from his investment income. So do I. So do all investors. So what??

Are we looking for a tax computation error?? That would be the fault of the preparrer, not Romney. Do we just want to drool over his millions?? Whatever for??

Yes kr,

We all know he is really wealthy. Around $250 million net worth. No news there. So what do we hope to learn from this?? If he committed tax evasion, wouldn't the IRS have already caught it??

Can't see what the big deal is.

Yes ideologyspoilstheview,

Romney would be responsible for any errors in his tax return. I just said that the error would be the fault of the person actually preparing the return. (That would be the person who really made the math error.)

I think that with $250 million in net worth, and lots of investments, the possibility of a math error exists.

So what??

Progressive Forward,

Why do you refer to Mitt Romney as "Romulian Romney??

Is that a Star Trek thing?? Are you a "TREKKIE"?? Is this part of your sci-fi fantasy world mixed in somehow with politics??

So what does that make Obama...a Vulcan??

Have you seen Barry's new TV ad? As Ben pointed out on another thread it's very hard to count all the lies, half truths in it! I believe it's just a 30 sec spot too, lmao!

Amy B Portland Me, It didn't seem softball to me. They were not discussing anything controversial. Did you want David Gregory to be nasty just because Gov. Cristie is a republican of he is fat. I welcome any civil conversation.

It sounded to me as if Gregory were begging Christie to run as VP. Is that the appropriate role of a journalist?

Bill Thomas, why do you make a big deal out of Obama's ad, but say nothing and even cheer the lies continually spouted by Republican ads?

How can I take anything you say as seriously truthfull when you do this?

The MSM will take Newt's supposed strength (debates) and use it AGAINST him. (i.e.- what they now report as "aggressive, professorial, very conservative, fighter" will be called "angry, mean-spirited, know-it-all, condescending, extremist, bullying, loose cannon" when he does it against Obama) Couple this reversal with all of Gingrich's sleazy personal behavior and professional disgraces (e.g.- ethics sanctions, kicked out by his OWN party, etc.), which the Obama team will DELUGE the airwaves with, and you have an UNELECTABLE Newt. He's a moral lowlife, and the Obama team will make sure America knows it by November!!………
