At Thursday's Republican presidential debate in South Carolina, Newt Gingrich slammed the news media for focusing on accusations by his ex-wife that he requested an "open marriage." NBC's Peter Alexander reports.
Updated 10:07 p.m.
Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, each battling furiously for a win in Saturday's South Carolina primary, pointedly questioned each other's experience to be president, while being forced to account for standing questions about the challenges they face to winning the nomination and beating President Obama.
The two leading candidates in South Carolina's primary this weekend largely avoided sniping at each other in the first half hour of the debate -- a spirited affair less than 36 hours before voting begins in the Palmetto State -- but engaged each other more directly as the evening progressed.
Gingrich was pressed to explain his past support for a mandate for individuals to purchase health insurance, and his manner of leadership as speaker of the House, a tenure described by critics as erratic.
But Gingrich scored early -- and decisively -- with a fiery response to allegations from an ex-wife that drew wild applause from the crowd in attendance.
Romney, meanwhile, had to defend his business record and answer questions as to why he wouldn't release his income tax records, all while relitigating conservative criticism of the health care reform he signed as governor of Massachusetts.
Through this, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, crowned the winner this morning of the Iowa Caucuses after a retabulation of results, was anxious to take on both Romney and Gingrich, distinguishing himself as a steady if not-flashy alternative to the two leading candidates.
The Republican presidential field may be smaller, with Jon Huntsman and Rick Perry recently dropping out, but that's not stopping the fireworks on the campaign trail ahead of South Carolina's primary on Saturday. NBC's Chuck Todd takes a look at what may be next.
The debate, the 17th of the cycle, followed one of the most dramatic days of the 2012 campaign. Thursday saw Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s exit from the campaign trail, new extramarital allegations against Gingrich, polling data showing Romney’s advantage slipping in South Carolina, and a new declaration by the Iowa GOP anointing former Santorum – not Romney – the winner of its Jan. 3 caucus after certifying official results.
Perry drops out of GOP presidential race, endorses Gingrich
The tone of the forum was set early when Gingrich angrily assailed CNN moderator John King for opening the debate by asking Gingrich to answer allegations made by his ex-wife, Marianne, in an interview with ABC News, saying the then-speaker of the House asked to engage in an "open marriage," or else he would file for divorce.
"I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate with a topic like that," Gingrich said, earning wild applause from the audience. "To take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary a significant question in a presidential campaign is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine."
Gingrich angrily rebuffs questions about ex-wife
Gingrich disputed the allegations as "false," and his three fellow Republicans onstage resisted piling on. ("Let's get on to the real issues," former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said.)
Recent pollng of the race suggests that Gingrich has been enjoying a late surge in South Carolina, one that could threaten Romney's bid for a win that, his campaign hopes, would all but seal the nomination for the former Massachusetts governor.
An NBC News-Marist poll released Thursday found Romney leading at 34 percent among likely primary voters in the state, followed by Gingrich at 24 percent, Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 16 percent, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum at 14 percent, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry at 4 percent. But in the latter half of the two-day poll, following Gingrich's strong performance during a Monday debate, Romney's lead winnowed to five points.
NBC poll: Newt Gingrich gains ground on Mitt Romney in South Carolina
South Carolina has correctly predicted the eventual Republican nominee since the inception of its primary in 1980; in each subsequent contest, the winner has gone on to become the GOP standard-bearer.
Romney has sought to project an air of inevitability surrounding his candidacy, but has been dogged by questions about the business practices of Bain Capital, the private equity firm he cofounded, that go to the core of his argument that he is the candidate most experienced to repair the U.S. economy. Romney's work for Bain also made him wealthy, and Romney's GOP rivals have pressed him to release his tax returns.
He dealt with both issues Thursday evening. Romney sought to explain Bain's work in greater detail, highlighting instances in which its work created jobs. He avoided engaging with Republicans, like Gingrich, who have questioned Romney's private sector record.
"I'm someone who believes in free enterprise," he said. "And I'm going to stand and defend capitalism across this country, throughout this campaign. I know we're going to get hit hard from President Obama, but we're going to stuff it down his throat and point out it is capitalism and freedom that makes America strong."
Romney also faced pressure to release his tax returns. He said he would release records -- going back an unspecified number of "multiple" years -- but not until April, by which time the primary may well be settled.
It was Santorum, though, who put the most pointed questions to the two frontrunners. Santorum, who served in Congress while Gingrich was speaker, raised questions about whether Gingrich's conduct as a leader would lead to a "worrisome moment" for the GOP.
"Grandiosity has never been a problem with Newt Gingrich. He handles it very, very well," Santorum said, later adding: "I knew what the problems were going on in the House of Representatives when Newt Gingrich was leading there. It was an idea a minute, no discipline, no ability to be able to pull things together."
That exchange opened up a broader, sharper discussion between the candidates on their backgrounds. Romney characterized Gingrich as a lifelong insider, and again touted his business experience as the best qualification for his candidacy.
"I was in business 25 years. So you're not going to get credit for my 25 years," Romney said. "I don't recall a single day saying, 'Oh, thanks heavens Washington is there for me.'"
But Romney was also put on the spot by Santorum, and later, Gingrich, over his record in Massachusetts. Gingrich accused Romney of continuing to support abortions even after having announced his opposition to abortion rights. And Santorum went on the attack on Massachusetts health care reform.
"It is not a free-market health care system. It is not bottom-up. It is prescriptive and government. It was the basis for Obamacare," Santorum said.
Romney stumbled at moments and offered wonky answers in response to the criticism, repeatedly vowing that, for whatever his past record shows, he would govern in opposition to abortion rights.
"I did my very best to be a pro-life governor. I will be a pro-life president," Romney said.
Texas Rep. Ron Paul at times fell to the background, having to make quips at moment about not being afforded an opportunity to join the scrum onstage. At one point, when the moderator was ready to move on after a question on abortion, the crowd complained that Paul hadn't been given an opportunity to answer.
The debate came after one of the most momentus days in the campaign. Perry ended his bid for the nomination and threw his support behind Gingrich, who has shown signs of revival in South Carolina, and who has sought to rally conservatives under the banner of being the best alternative to Romney.
That narrative shaped Thursday night's debate, which saw Gingrich engage in frequent crowd-pleasing answers, dropping references to Ronald Reagan and taking frequent shots at the media.
Whether Romney did much to reverse his slide likely won't be known until Saturday, when South Carolinians head to the polls. Debate settings have been a strength for Gingrich, and he, Paul and Santorum have relished the opportunity to pile on Romney in these settings. (Another debate is scheduled for Monday night in Florida.)
The debate, hosted by CNN and the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, was broadcast at 8 p.m. ET.

why do lies get applauses in the repub debate.
Romney,, Pay attention
Capitalism & the Free Market works,, but only with fairness, innovation (Green Industries), oversight & regulation, & that you ignore... That is what is missing today with conservative logic
Before the rants of "Socialist" starts up, I'm a capitalist
I am a 72 year old male, born and raised in the USA and during the first 42 years of that I was raised to believe that I lived in the greatest country in the world. I was inducted into the Armed Forces of the U.S. in 1958 and was trained to kill communist. I find myself, at this time in life, puzzled at the transformation that has taken place in America. Now where did we go wrong? Could it be that we raised our children to be complete, mindless idiots! The children raise more children by feeding them and watching them grow. It appears to me, as I read through some of this garbage, that you people do not have a clue as to the importance of what is about to occur in the upcoming elections. Elect Obama so we can also take part in that great utopian society called communism. The only time that Americans have migrated from the U.S. was when the Ford Motor company sent one of his factories to Russia in the early 1930,s. About 50,000 men and thier families went with the factory to set it up and make cars for the Russians. All were sent to the Gulag system after their first two years working in the factory. Read "The Forgotten" and learn something. Now don't forget to vote for Comrade OBAMA in 2012. We'll all be in heaven then.
....KA-BOOOM!!
The sound of Newtie Tootie's head e-x-p-l-o-d-i-n-g--- at the first question directed to his sorry, disgusting, blame-the-media butt from CNN moderator, John King!!! Newtie Tootie's typical neo-nut whine: "Waaahh! Waaahh! It's the media's fault! Waaahh!"
Aahh...the comedy of the ..."Republiturd/'baggernut Comedy Debate Show"...in backwards-azz, rebel rag-not flag, red state "Sous Cow'lina".
And, the "LAFFS" continues...
Romney his beliefs His Faith
1 - God was once a man who lived on another planet
This is the most important teaching of Mormonism. Nothing else comes close to it. We believe that God was once a mortal man on another planet who progressed by living in obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel he had on his world, then he died. He became a resurrected man and evolved to become a god. He is still married now (some early leaders say he is a polygamist) and created this world. We worship only the one true god, which is really one god among millions or billions or more. We believe that we will follow in God's footsteps by becoming perfect and we too will become Gods and Goddesses creating spirit children and peopling other worlds. The Mormon TV commercials showing family togetherness is the foundation for life in the next world - as a family - as gods.

"...you have to learn to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you, - namely, by going from one small degree to another..."
Reference: Journal of Discourses Vol. 6 Page 275, 1852. Brighan Young speaking:
"After men have got their exaltations and their crowns - have become Gods..."
2 - We are co-eternal with God
We believe we have all existed for all eternity. First we existed as "intelligences", which has never been defined, then we were given spirit bodies in a heaven by our eternal parents. Our "intelligences" have existed forever just like the our God's has and we have been around him in one form or another forever. He has just simply progressed ahead of us.
Reference: Journal of Discourses Vol. 6 Page 7, 1844. Joseph Smith speaking:
"God himself, finding he was in the midst of spirits and glory, because he was more intelligent, saw proper to institute laws whereby the rest could have a priviledge to advance like himself"
3 - The origin of Jesus Christ
Jesus was begotten by physical union of God and Mary. Since God has a body of flesh and bones, he really had literal sex with Mary. The product of this union was Jesus, part man and part God. We believe Jesus was the first born in heaven by heavenly father and mother who created his spirit and our spirits using our "intelligences" as a foundation for our spirits. Our "intelligences" were floating around in the universe and needed to be organized into spirits. Since he was the first born spirit, and according to the Book of Abraham, his "intelligence" was better than the other "intelligences" out there, he is the most important spirit creation. When Jesus received his physical body by the union of God and Mary, his spirit was put into his body like our spirits were put into our bodies. His body was special though because his father was a god. The rest of us have only regular dads.
Again, a few Mormons wrote saying they do not believe this and I am misrepresenting the church's position. Actually the quotes from the early leaders are stranger than I could create from my imagination. Here are a few references:
Brigham Young speaking in the Journal of Discourses Vo1 1, Page 51 1852, "Jesus our Elder Brother was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven."
Brigham Young speaking in the Journal of Discourses Vo1 15, Page 770 1853, "Now remember from this time forth, and for ever, that Jesus Christ was not begotten by the Holy Ghost... if the Son was begotten by the Holy Ghost, it would be a very dangerous to baptize and confirm females, and give the Holy Ghost to them, lest he should beget children..."
4 - Truth is determined by feelings
We believe we know the truth by our feelings. We do not rely on and we will disregard any facts that contradict what our feelings tell us is true. If something feels bad, like someone telling us that Joseph Smith was a fraud, then we know that Smith must of been a prophet since falsehoods create bad feelings and it feels bad when someone tells us that we have been duped. In other words, if we get a bad feeling, we are hearing bad things which must be lies. We feel good when we read the Book of Mormon, therefore it is true. Archeology, genetics, science, metallurgy, agriculture and animal studies are irrelevant since our feelings tell us it is a true book revealed by God. This good feeling applies to all aspects of our lives. We determine if we should do something or know the truth of something if we have prayed about it and have a good feeling about it.
5 - What a Prophet said can be revised depending on the circumstances
We believe that when the Prophet, the head of our church, says something that is definitely wrong he was not being inspired at that time. He was only speaking as a man. We believe that the newer Prophets can override the older Prophets. We believe we have a prophet on earth today even though he never prophecies anything.
Reference: Ezra Taft Benson '14 Fundamentals in Following the Prophets' pgs 1-16, 1980:
"Beware of those who would pit the dead prophets against the living prophets, for the living prophets always take precedence."
6 - Saving our dead ancestors shows we are the only Christian church
We believe we have temples where we get the handshakes and passwords that allow us to become gods. We also baptize by proxy dead people so they too can become Mormons.
7 - Ex-Mormons or apostates had sin in their life or never had a testimony
We believe apostates, if they had a testimony, will be cast into outer darkness. The others who leave Mormonism must never had a testimony.
8 - We will only read church approved materials
Any literature which is critical of the church is Satanic and/or written by disgruntled apostates or others who do not know the truth. They can be ignored and any reasonable arguments they have are unimportant since they oppose the gospel of Mormonism.
9 - We need to convert the whole world to Mormonism
We believe we must send all our young men from ages 19-22 on missions throughout the world and many of our unmarried daughters. We must also save our money so that when we are older we can go on a mission as a married couple.
10 - By being Mormons we are assured of salvation - even if we are wrong
We believe that even if we are wrong about Mormonism, God will forgive us since we believed in Christ just like the Christians said we should. If we are right, and we know we are, then we will be together forever with our families as gods. Why should we want to be anything other than Mormons since we have all our bases covered?
11 - Since we have the name of Christ in our church - our church is the only true one.
Only the true church would have Christ's name in it. We ignore the fact that the Doctrine and Covenants and other books were published by the church when Joseph Smith had the church renamed for several years as the Church of the Latter-day Saints.
12 - We believe in the Book of Mormon
We believe in a book which has no archeological support whatsoever and claim it is a religious record of various peoples who populated the Americas for over 2600 years from around 2200 BC to 420 AD. We believe that the second group of people who occupied the Americas were Jewish and spoke Hebrew and kept their records in reformed Egyptian. These people also numbered in the millions and somehow they left no tangible proof of their existence. Some Mormons believe that in the near future the leaders of the church will admit that the peoples the book describes are fictional, but maintain that the book still contains religious truths.
13 - The fruits of Mormonism prove it is the true church
We believe by man
all religion is complete and total bs always
Anyone who is left in this circus after tonight must produce all personal and private information immediately. Americans want to see the candidates and their wifes birth certificates, education records, health records, divorce records, background checks, motor vehicle records, business records, political records, political donors, tax return records, investment records, bank records, credit reports, BK filings, foreclosure filings, civil records, criminal records, drug test, lie detector test, religious affliations, charities affliations, complaints filed, and where they keep their money.......wink wink wink ...cayman islands......switzerland......period. produce or get out.
move on
If these Four Multi Millionaires are the best our country can come up with to run for President, we are Really, Really screwed. How about some average Non Millionaire guy's that won't be looking for Tax Breaks for the wealthy when they get into office. These Four guy's all say the same thing, that we need more Tax Break's for the Wealthy, which is of course, Themselves.
How about some average non millionaire guy's that won't be looking for tax breaks.I guess you won't be voting for any candidate from either side.
in case you did not know, Ron Paul has made majority of his wealth in gold, which he bought in the 70s because he knew that without a gold standard, the government would deface and inflate their currency, making the price of precious metals go up. He warned that this would happen and put himself in a position to keep his assets safe from devaluation, invested in precious metals. To add, while all the other candidates (including president Obama) top campaign contributors are huge corporations such as goldman sachs while Dr.Paul gets majority of his donations from individuals as well as active and retired military personel.
Look at his(Dr. Paul's) house, look at his contributors, look at his refusal to participate in the Congressional pension program. He has never gone on a "government"(citizen)-funded junket(luxury excursion). He isn't in it for the money or the power. When you don't want the money or the power how can the elites buy you? This is the Ron Paul Problem.
Please keep in mind Ron Paul gets more campaign donations from active duty and military veterans than all the other GOP candidates combined. .4% of this country's population defends it, the other 99.6% reap the benefits. Dr.Paul has the best economic & foreign policy of them all. He's the one we should be backing. A one on one between Dr. Paul and President Obama will be a campaign based on the issues we face. Anyone else, and it's a smear campaign. We've had more than enough of those over the past two decades.
He's lived off the taxpayers for years and has NO accomplishments in the House in all those years!
his viewsare on the cutting edge of the norm and it scares the hell out of many but big change is needed bad ! So lets get back to our Constitution and live by it ,. What the hell have we got to lose ?
Jim:
So what if he is not a lemming. That is not a bad thing.
Dr. Paul has never taken a government-paid junket(a lucrative U.S.citizen-paid vacation), never voted for pay increases, votes for less government control and has offered you Americans the option of a president who will work for the average 30kwhatever salary of the average American... But you still refuse him in support of...who? It doesn't matter because nobody else is/has been more constitutionally conservative. THEN, you look at Dr. Paul's incorruptibility and steadfast will against the power elites of the world and conclude that he is a failure because he is the minority. That is no fault of the Doctor's.
Newt can't handle the heated questions, Romney twists the questions to something else, Paul just babbles about anything, Santorum has no idea where he is, let alone what the question is.
Obama/Biden 2012
Wow! Romney wants states to take on any VA benefits! Vets, he will flush us down the drain. However, they all want MUCH more spending on systems to kill (for their buddies in the military industrial complex). Gingrich promoted the GI bill, good for him.
How about electing Ron Paul and getting our country back and constitution and bill of rights back? Why in the hell are my God given rights being taken away!? People should be completely outraged. Romney and Obama are the same and Newt is a big corporate lobbyist. Santorm wants blood that we cant afford anymore. God please help our country.
You truly have to wonder about the intellegence of america considering Dr.Paul has been warning us about majority of the problems we now face today years ago. People support Obama when he goes to war with more countries than bush without congressional approval just like GWB, and yet this is the man who recieved the nobel peace prize. Why did he get that award anyway?
Kids you should pay attention to this. This is what happens to your brain when you don't have one.
Hey Santorum ---- It's conservatives who've been cutting the VA
First, Michelle Bachmann (MN) suggested disabled veterans had it too good. She thought disability pay should be reduced by $4 billion. Later, Paul Ryan (WI) suggestion gutting VA Healthcare by $6 billion, which would have cut 1.3 million veterans out of the program.
Now, aligned with the President, Republicans are again attempting to cut veterans benefits. This time, they want to cut $23 billion over 10 years, dwarfing the initial cuts proposed earlier this year.
http://www.disabledveterans.org/2011/07/18/obama-republicans-seek-23-billion-disability-pay-cut/
Not all that long ago, conservatives called it "Welfare"
I don't care about his ex-wife, why is she speaking out now!!! And I watched the interview she still has a lot of anger after 13 years. As far as Rick Perry is concered you can see that the evangelical christians are looking for someone other than Mitt, but his lead also shows that the republicans don't care about anything other than beating Pres Obama even though Romney won't put forth his taxes, his money in swizz bank accounts, and the fact that if you really listen to the debates he hasn't come up with a plan to get Americans back to work.
54 million people did vote for Pres Obama in 2008, they won't do so again regardless, so now the independents, the youth vote and Hispanics are up for grabs. I would think that we should be a country who wants solutions not just getting a person out of the white house becasue you don't like him.
If McCain would have won the White House we would have the same problems, and those who needs unemployment benefits, medicade, EBT, TANIF etc.. wouldn't have them and you would see other problems other than millions of Americans out of work.
IF mcnut and palin had won in 08.......it would be a nightmare by now. Im Independent......And its about 100% for sure that I Will Vote again for President Obama. In fact I believe the repub/tea will be thrown out, recalled and removed from all offices from city county state federal house and senate this year. They are doomed with gloom......their strategist have gone wacko. Its just not a creditable worthy group today.
I wondent go so far as to say the youth and independent vote is up for grabs espically considering that Ron Paul gets huge support from both of those groups. As far as minority groups go, Ron Paul is by far the best choice, he is the only candidate talking about the truly racist war on drugs, how minorities are disproportionally jailed for many non violent drug charges, some of whom become 2nd class citizens (fellons) without ever having harmed a single individual. Ron Paul 2012 vote vertebre

I wished I was that CNN Moderator for 2 mins when Newt tried to bully him, when he asked him a simple question,I would have put him in HIS place, just like that wrench told Newt she's glad he put Juan Williams in his place,All those GOP Candidates are FRAUDS,especially Newt and Willard Romney.
I guess I can believe it, it takes MSNBC to mention a candidate that drop out, and everyone else before the get to Ron Paul. They wait till the last paragraph to say anthing about him. I am so sick of this in most media outlets. WAKE UP !!!! The machine does not want him, why, because he will break the machine that has been in place so long. WAKE UP!!! Look at these jokers and what they have done, then look at Ron Paul's record. Do not let the media tell you who will win. WAKE UP!!!
These debates are crazy, all they do is damage the Republican candidates while Obama is out collecting millions to fund his campaign.
The only one that can beat Obama is Romney. Gingrich isn't the answer and never was. Paul hasn't done a thing in all his years in the House. Santorium is anti-everything!
Get the General Election started. Romney against Obama!!!!
The republicans should be damaged,,,, Every one of them supported Citizens United which created the problem
Too bad the gop does not recognize a so called republican candidate named Buddy Roemer.......hes not bought by special interest so they dont put him on stage.

These 4 lyin'-azz, neo-nutty turds onstage are out-of-their-minds!
I voted for Obama in 08 as did many of my classmates, that wont be the case again. After haveing this man invade more countries than the previous adminstration, infringe on civil liberties with laws such as the NDAA or just how he breaks his promises, remember getting out of Iraq, we still have thousands of mercs there in an embassy the size of the vatican. Face it, the only difference between Obama and Bush is the color of their skin, well that and Obama can give a decent speech.
Im guessing you have not been voting for too many years. Ive been voting for over 35+ years and I can tell you that if you think ANYONE in the clown car would be better? Ya all better stay in school and take history over and over again. President Obama is this countries best bet, and he will listen to the people. Unlike the clown car group. Obama is and has had extraordinary circumstances and a worthless house and senate. My advice to you is read, listen to all news channels, and watch. Good Luck. Obama 2012
Wow, could this article be any more of a waste of time, the entire article was about Newt, Romney and Santorum with Dr.Paul being mentiond once near the end. Even when the article mentions Ron Paul it trys to slander him with the military even though Dr.Paul gets more donations from active and retired military personel than all the other GOP candidates combined, and even more than the president. This is a 2 man race for 2012 between Obama and Paul, no other candidate can pull from every wing of the political spectrum like Ron Paul.
How's his "Golden Rule" foreign policy going to work out?
He who pays the most "Gold" gets to "Rule"?
You couldn't stop it with his "Smaller Government"
Paul is a little charactor and just might be the gop nominee, his age is a factor to me, the racist comments in the past, and the fact he wont kick booty when needed. But he would be different than the others and might do a good debate....maybe?
No matter what people say I think Paul is the hard change we need !
I laugh at the MSM!!! It's hilarious the reasoning they employ.
Headline: Ron Paul a danger to our children and THE WORLD!
Completely unrelated Headline: Youth vote overwhelmingly behind Paul
Foreigners worldwide: Please America, for the sake of our safety and sovereignty vote Ron Paul!
I guess I'm sick of the old way of thinking that I see Jim and Beyondreef following. I assume that they are both supportive of a dictatorship as long as they are part of the ruling party. Sure, a little booty kicking "when needed" is fun and exciting if you're Rambo or a dictator, but there are SOME humans who know that eventually the situation is reversed and you find your own "booty" getting "kicked", mr Beyondthereef. ugh...I can't believe I'm having to argue these points. The racist comments argument is tiring. Blacks are free because they're humans and the Constitution protects humans, not because of Jim Crow laws. Women can vote and work because they're humans, not because of "women's rights" laws. He says this so incredibly clearly I wonder if you've even listened to him instead of the banker propaganda. It's insane trying to argue against Dr. Paul on most of these issues. Let's wake up and think for ourselves, people! Age is a factor. Okay, do you think he is unable to think quickly and decisively? I doubt it. Do you think he is senile and has a poor memory? Also, the two-tongued spewings annoy me. People say ALL the time, Dr. Paul is old and senile, he can't even remember such and such. Then, when he whips out a full can of HISTORY ON YOUR *** during a debate or article or interview, people say "Aw, history doesn't matter, this is a NEW world. these inflation problems are COMPLETELY unprecedented and we need somebody who understands that we're AMERICA! The other empires debased their currencies to oblivion and tried hyperinflation, but we're AMERICA, and this is a NEW world with the internet and instant noodle-cups. Aint NO old-world empire got **** on us! USA USA USA USA!
Ultimately, if "the people" do not have the necessary intellect to see what is in front of them then they are doomed to repeat history. The only difference is this time is going to be a little different. We have here an unusual and critical mix of events coming together at one time and I believe we are at a critical juncture that demands we put in leadership someone who is VERY different from the usual suspects. Hard circumstances require the leadership of an unusual candidate. RON PAUL is the only one that I see that meets the requirement. The positions of the others, if we even hear about them, are extremely flimsy at a minimum. Do the people understand this? What are they thinking? There is no question here as the difference is so obvious.
Are they not aware of the critical events unfolding here in the US? Have they not heard of the list of states that are on the list of going bankrupt? Rhode Island is cutting 50% of the pensions of fire and police to avoid bankruptcy! And if they don't like that, bankruptcy court will reduce it even further! There's a long list of things that are going inside-out HERE! Just to stop the spiraling down will take every bit of a RON PAUL and then some. The other lying cowards are no competition.
BUT...if the people don't get it now, they will "get it" later as the currency collapses and possibly martial law follows, along with hyperinflation. It will be too late then to wish for a RON PAUL leadership.
If RON PAUL doesn't take the primary because a majority of "the people" didn't get it, I'm voting for President OBAMA come election time as he will most assuredly continue the current course he's on....a high speed race to the bottom. I say get it over quickly and end this prolonged torture. Take us down so we can "REBIRTH" ourselves under new leadership. I would advise all RON PAUL supporters to do the same.
Wake me up if he ever creates a 3rd party.... He's just positioning his son for a 2016 run in the GOP as a republican & nothing more
Dude,, Ron needs to read far more than one economic text book, observe how what he's learned applies to real world economics for the next 10 years then try again
Until he does both he will always be just a Republican... Libertarian in Name Only
agreed, at least with obama we know where he will screw us so we can plan accordingly, with mitt the flip, even god has no clue what he advocates. Ron Paul 2012, vote vertebre
Jim, you think you're special because you're an American? You think hyperinflation will end differently for you because- Heck, forget hyperinflation because people won't believe it until it happens- you think your fiat-based currency won't collapse because you're American and America's 200 year existence in this UNIVERSE is something grandiose and part of some "real world economics" system!? I smile! I admire your intellectual ability to copy and past your comments and STILL manage to get people to say that Obama has a more consistent record than Dr. Paul. It's like the communist's propaganda towers, constantly repeating messages, beating the lies into the minds of the masses. Hey. We're awake, and that noise is annoying us. Watch out
What a joke!!!! Clinton raped Juanita Broderick and there was no TV or radio interview of her. She was silenced like Bill's other trysts and victims. That was his "private life" and irrelevant to his candidacy or presidency Newt's bitter ex makes a relatively innocuous accusation and it disqualifies him.
Bill isn't running for office, besides Hillary turned him into a eunuch
Ask the conservative men folk what they would say & do if their wives cheated on them
An excellent question to ask all the candidates
Rousseau SC,
Your getting the picture. When slick willie was playing hide the salami in the White House, we were all just supposed to fergit about it, and just move on. LOL Move On??
Clinton's skull- bangin some young bimbo in the White House, and that's O.K. An employee, no less.
Newt's ex-wife is showing why she is the ex.
To..Rousseau""
Joseph ""
You know the republicans lowered the bar going after Clinton over a hummer and it's comeback to bite them ever since...
What ever happened to ...Margie Schoedinger who filed rape charges against gw bush in 2002...
Amunaka,
Don't remember that one at all. But, as long as were strolling down memory lane,.....Remember Democratic front runner Gary Hart. His little escapade on the good ship "Monkey Business" with that foxy hooker. He comes back to the mainland, and the house he and the hooker are in, is surrounded by the media. No escape out the back door. LOL
Remember the song Marilyn Monroe sang to JFK for his birthday?? Old Jackie was fuming in the background. Great memories.
The only way to watch this freak show is with a quart of whiskey and a barf bag next to your easy chair.
What a circus!
Is the American public that brainwashed and ignorant?
Yes Mark they are. The last debate had the yockels cheer for the new Military Detention bill. They booed Ron Paul for actually taking Christ's words to heart(so much for SC Christians being Christian). They rather vote for liars, theives, philanderers, and the idiotic, who tell them they are great, when in reality they are dumber than dirt, and uglier than a 80 year old whore.
Mark. Righty Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ralph,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,barfffffffffffffffffffffff burp
Obama is sitting in the Whitehouse having a few beers and laughing his A$$ off.
Its only the beginning of endless comedy on jon stewart, SNL and late nite......
Glad to see that Newt and Mitt remain friends. They will be working together in some capacity for the next eight years.
Nice to have solidarity in the ranks.
Obama shelved in 2012.
Yeah, "friends" , Good call.
Solidarity in the ranks??
They've spent millions trashing each other... And amusingly so...
