COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Ron Paul says this is now a "two-man race" for the GOP nomination between him and Mitt Romney.
Paul said recent South Carolina endorsements show "it is a two-man race.” He acknowledged Romney’s lead, but added, “That doesn’t mean things can’t change."
Ron Paul was flanked at the event here inside the state capitol by Republican State Sen. Tom Davis, who endorsed Paul on Sunday; and three other state Sens. Kevin Bryant, Lee Bright and Danny Verdin, endorsed him today. They said Paul reflects their values and belief in the constitution.
“I am very pleased," Paul said, "and I thank them for coming forward. It represents another shot in the arm for the campaign. The campaign has been doing very, very well. We did very well in Iowa. We did well in New Hampshire, and it looks like with the momentum that’s building now.”
The Texas Congressman was asked if Romney wins the primary, would he continue to challenge the former Massachusetts governor or be pressured to coalesce behind him.
“Of course, he’s not going to win the nomination on Saturday,” Paul said with a laugh. “Why should everybody walk away if he wins this primary? You have to wait and see where all the delegates are. An election is to get the maximum number of delegates, so I will continue to do it. To think a debate is non-productive? To me, capitulation and going along and being pressured by the establishment leadership and just say, 'Hey, we don’t want any debate. We don’t want to be rocking the boat and cutting a trillion dollars out of the budget.' We don’t want to hear that. Well, I might just continue to talk about cutting a trillion dollars out of the budget. I think that’s legitimate, I think I have a responsibility.
Paul will hold two more events today, in Spartanburg and Rock Hill.

All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender. For it is all give and no take.

GO RON PAUL 2012
Ron Paul has several problems. The first is that he sees issues in black and white. No shades of grey. He also is far to radical on many issues, beginning with foreign policy and ending with the role of the Federal Government during times such as these, in which individual states are unable to cope because of lack of revenues. Another problem which the pundits don't bring up is his age, and related to that is his competence because of his age. I listen to his speeches, and see a very simplistic approach, which makes one wonder if done from necessity, rather than his desire to concentrate on what he views as the real issues. People are jumping on Perry because of his lapses, but seem to ignore Paul's presentation issues and simplistic discussions.
Paul is just plain scary! I think he should just retire from politics. And Romney is just a republican Obama
I think you should retire from commenting!

Ron Paul is a dreamer. Like Newt, he has a troubled past as it relates to issues of racism. Someone check the drugs this Libertarian is using; his brain is toast.
Democrats are utterly terrified Obama will have to run against Paul in the general election. Let's face it, those other three guys ARE Obama, with a little tinkering around the edges.
The only problem Paul has is marginalization and constant media attacks. This is perfectly understandable because papers and tv stations aren't owned by some guy now - they're owned by 6 giant corporations that control over 90% of the airwaves and big chunks of the internet. Look at the comments on any story - you'll see the Paul support there.
What if this is the last chance you'll have to prevent the collapse of the dollar? Our infrastructure can't function without oil and oil is denominated now in dollars. What happens when people stop accepting them? No oil means no diesel. No diesel means no trucking. No trucking means no FOOD - most supermarkets carry only 3 days' inventory. Let's say it only takes a couple months to find a new supply, what do you think will happen in a city with 10 million starving people, people who've never gone hungry a day in their lives? Armageddon.
Hahahahah You're scary! Just like Ron Paul. I'm going to completely block out everything you say because it sounds scary! America is awesome! America won't collapse because we're special!
so say the "shortstuff-3394631"s of the world. It's amazing how avidly we seek out the truth even though the truth is incredibly sad and foretells disaster. That's why I think we youth love Ron Paul so much. We know that it will fall on us. We know there's not a dime of SS when we'll need it most. Every single dollar coming out of my paycheck is lost forever. So as part of the generation that will be bearing the flag of our Country into and through the coming collapse, I personally want my current leader to at least ADDRESS the problems we face. Not Dem vs. Rep "problems", not gay rights, not abortion, not being in the white house for the next 8 years. He's not in it for power, not in it for money, not in it for his family to become the next dynasty. He is in it to finally get his ideas across to those that don't usually think for themselves and to stand with his Nation as we face the challenges together. God Bless Dr. Paul!
