“The first family plans to participate in a community service project in Washington to honor the memory of the slain civil rights leader,” AP writes. “Later, President and first lady Michele Obama will travel to the Kennedy Center for the Let Freedom Ring celebration in honor of King.”

I caught part of Romney's SC Huckabee event. (Does everyone in the GOP sleep together?) He's going to have to do better than simply repeating the same lines to every question: "I was in the private sector, I know how the economy runs and I created jobs." Great. Instead of running for president since '07, why weren't you advising the FED and starting companies that would have done some good for the rest of us? Romney runs the risk that he is going to be confronted with facts as to how the private sector, mainly Wall Street and banks caused the recession, and not as he states that government regulation constrained the free enterprise system from creating the needed jobs and making loans to people who could actually pay it back. Romney is OK with "red lining" and pay day, buy here, pay here, and undisclosed term loans.
And obama did what?? Obama has what experience in the private sector?
And sitting in the corner office is private sector experience? Remember Romney started in the corner office, he didn't start with a lemonade stand or even a shop on Main Street. He's an office manager. He has neither a vision nor a philosophy. He would have us believe that he has extensive business analytical skills - yet all he can say is that if you have a job, you'll stop bothering me. At least Perot wanted to make computer chips rather than potato chips. Romney and the GOP only want to un-tax and deregulate the rich.
When all else fails go back to the tea people GOP republican talking points from three years ago.
Alberto, all that information about what Obama has done in his life is available. Try the Google, rather than throwing out unfounded conjecture.
How much more money dose the "rich" upper class have to pay in taxes? What is their "fair share" exactly? I gotta tell ya, I'm a little tired of paying everyone elses way.... I put myself through college and have a great job... so because I did the responsible thing, I should be paying for someone else's shortcomings???? I'd actually like to pay off my student loans, but it makes it kinda difficult when you see 1/4 of your paycheck go to UNCLE SAM. You libs really need to get a grip! If contributing your "fair share" is your hot ticket, then EVERYONE should contribute SOMETHING! Obama will not last on this class warfare ticket! ANYONE else has a much better chance of kicking him out of the White House next year!
I think you should pay at least the same percentage of your income as I pay of mine to support your country that has provided you with such an excellent education and job. Who loaned you the money for your student loans?
Of course Obama and the democrats will try keeping the pressure on Romney because they have no major accomplishments to run on. The Obama campaign will run the most negative campaign in history, they will continue to use the race card, and keep blaming everyone and everything for their failures. Obama will continue to run divisive campaign with his class warfare BS.
It's time to get rid of Obama and the so called progressives who believe the government should take care of everyone from cradle to grave.
Once Romney in assured of being the republican nominee, the republicans will unite and the election will be about Obama, the US debt, jobs and the economy. Remember "IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID."
Republicans are showing signs of short term memory. I myself remember how bad the economy and unemployment were under President Bush and getting worst up to his last days in office.
So actually the truth is, President Obama inherited this incredible brink of depression mess from President Bush and President Obama has done a good job of turning the country around.

Not exactly gingerfizz, because you, the taxpayer, got stuck bailing out the pension fund of at least one of those bankrupted companies, even when Bain Capital made a profit after its destruction. You cannot escape the results of vulture capitalism, so easily; didn't the financial crisis teach you that?

If you want someone to blame the economy on--blame the shoppers that want every thing "cheap". They don't care that dollar that we pay into the Chinese workforce-- does not pay into US social security. If we as a nation don't support our own manufacturing workforce, we don't deserve current or future social security payments.
I am actually terrified of 2012. The race is gonna be sooooo close. I mean, Romney is beating Obama by 1% according to a CNN poll, and I am terrified at the fact at having another GOP run government. We already saw how they screwed up education reform and our budget: what will they do next?? This country cannot afford any more cuts to education; I know, those class sizes are HUGE. I hope Obama wins; I pray for it; I wish it. I mean, Romney touts to have created hundreds of thousands of jobs, but if you compare that with the number of jobs created by this president Obama wins. The reason why the recover is slow is because this is the 21st century's equivalent of the Great Depression. The Great Depression lasted for 12 years until the New Deal and (to a larger degree) World War II started, and then we spent our way out. Due to our safety nets this recession won't last as long, but it still won't be quick. We need to stay calm and use reason. Obama wants EVERYONE to pay their fair share by repealing the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and appropriating large spending cuts and entitlement reform that will affect ALL of us. But Romney wants to let the wealthy keep their tax breaks and actually lower taxes while cutting trillions of dollars from education and other necessary sectors. In the end, Obama wants all Americans to pay their fair share, while Romney wants to implement the same trickle-down economics theory by slashing taxes and domestic spending while building up the military-industrial complex.

I cannot believe it: the GOP candidates have not only misread most of America; they have even misread their own party!!!!!!!! 53% of Republicans want higher taxes on those making $250,000 or more!!!! Why hasn't the GOP caught on to that?? Are they that beholden to their wealthy supporters and to Grover Norquist?? Why is it so hard to raise taxes on the high-income earners?? I mean, they can afford it, and just moving it a few percentage points is not that bad, considering the hundreds of billions of dollars that will go to decreasing our debt. Plus it spares other programs from the chopping block, like education. I'd be willing to pay more in taxes as long as it goes to something worthwhile, like paying down our debt or helping our economy. Why can't they just reform the tax code, repeal all of the Bush tax cuts, and cut about $2-3 trillion from spending (25% defense, 50% savings from entitlement reform, 25% from rest of discretionary spending), and we'd have at least $6-7 trillion reduced from the deficit over 10 years. Couple that with smart stimulus bills, and our deficit could be eliminated by 2021, allowing us to start cutting down out debt.
