Pro-Romney Super PAC TV ad hits Santorum

The pro-Romney Super PAC Restore Our Future first attacked Newt Gingrich last month in Iowa.

And now it has a new target: Rick Santorum.

A new Restore Our Future TV ad, to be broadcast in South Carolina and Florida, hits Santorum from all ends.

“Santorum pushed for billions in wasteful pork -- voting for the Bridge to Nowhere, a teapot museum, even an indoor rain forest," the ad's narrator says. "Santorum voted to raise the debt limit five times, increasing spending and debt by $3 trillion."

The ad continues, "He even voted to let convicted felons vote.”

*** UPDATE *** Per NBC's Anthony Terrell, Santorum commented on this TV ad: "I'm being attacked in an ad I find it very interesting that Gov. Romney's Super PAC is already up with ads in Florida against me. So they must have some idea of who might be coming strongly out of South Carolina.

Remind me again...

Who are the men hiding behind the curtain of Restore our Future?

No attack ad is complete without the omnious back ground music!

So yesterday Santorum backs off of the comments critical of Bain and vulture capitalism and this is the thanks he gets? Here I was thinking Santorum was positioning himself to be the VP candidate and Romney slaps him around. Wonder if Rick will learn a lesson from this?

Santorum has zero chance of being chosen to run as VP, let alone win the GOP nomination as their presidential candidate.

Santorum is political poison. The LGBT voting faction will never allow him to hold another elected office. They are well enough organized and motivated to shut him down, and anyone in a power position in the GOP with half a brain knows it.

He only continues on with his candidacy because his source of income derives almost entirely from campaign donations.

Okay. So let me get this straight. It is NOT permissible to attack the front runner (Romney) but it IS permissible for him to attack his opponent? Um, does the word hypocrisy seem to pop into anyone's mind?

      Phine,

It is the beauty of the Super PACs like Restore Our Future founded by Romney's campaign finance manager who left his campaign in early summer.

"Restore our future " a pro Romney super pac continues to run the negative ads against Newt, and now Santorum.Meanwhile Romney can run positive ads about his business experience as a venture , hedge fund, capitalist. How he is exactly what the country needs in a president.

The only hope for Santorum is the big meeting of conservative Christians meeting in Texas over the weekend to try to back one candidate with their support and more importantly with superpac money.

Thank you SCOTUS for giving us this roadshow instead of a political campaign that speaks to the issues facing our country.

      Northstar,

I think in the big Conservative Christian right will cave to the demands of the GOP establishment because they still want to be a player in the party.

What is scary is the fact that if the superpacs are playing like this now, what will it be like in the fall when BOTH parties superpacs hit the airwaves. I do believe my tv will be either off or on mute much of the time.

      Phine,

      You are so right.

You get the GOP convention in Tampa .

We had the GOP convention in St. Paul in 2008.

I left town on a wonderful European cruise the day McCain hit town.

Came back and worked my butt off for Obama.

You need some travel breaks in 2012.

      Northstar,

Planning on a resort stay in Vero Beach in April, or else a trip to New Orleans. The fall looks like cruising to the southern Caribbean. Summer is Disney trips (2 of them) with grandchildren. The 2 oldest girls like EPCOT and the 8 year old is, of course, the Magic Kingdom. And hubby is making noises about Vegas. So, looks like I should be able to escape the tv madness!

Now this makes no sense. So, Romney is the presumptive Republican nominee but his supporters are going out of their way to insult the social conservative base that supports Santorum, a base Romney will surely need the support of in the general? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love it, but I'm a Democrat.

Was thinking the same, Amy. Doesn't make sense. Romney should be pretending other Republican candidates don't exist at this point. Negatives ads often work, as we've seen time and time again, but still everyone at least pretends they don't like those ads. Why chance it?

I'm thinking the guys running that Super PAC may not have gotten the latest game plan from either the Romney campaign or the RNC.

Mitten thinks this ad against Santorum will show exactly what....Oh, wait, nothing will negate the Newt ad against Mittens.

Free market, capitalism, etc, crap.. that fires people and lines Mittens pockets with millions of dollars that he banks off-shore........

Sorry, Mitten...why are you going after Santorum if you are the presumptive nominee? Not so sure are ya!

I love the way all the libbies attack Romney and want Perry, Gingrich, and all the rest to stay in the race. They were all disappointed when Bachmann dropped out of the race. This tells me one thing. They fear Romney will defeat their deity Obama come November.

          John,

I am not attacking Gov. Romney, just the way the primary is playing out. Yesterday, all the GOP was up in arms over the attacks (fair or unfair I will leave you to judge) on Mr. Romney. Today, it is ok for the Romney people to attack an opponent that stands a chance against him (albeit small). It is just very confusing. Maybe, instead of blaming liberals, you can explain this to me.

          John,

Nope, we just want to keep the pressure on Romney, because he can't handle the pressure. It doesn't take a brain to figure out that Romney will trip up over Bain Capital and President Obama eat Romney's lunch.

I love that they've chosen such a toxic issue to attack one of their own...a lot of people may not have been aware that raising the debt ceiling was standard practice. Republicans in Congress today rant that the President wants to raise the debt ceiling so he can go on a spending binge, but this Super PAC just shows that Republicans raised it regularly during the Bush administration.

Ursula, You are right, the debt ceiling was raised several times during the Bush Administration, what you forgot to mention was Senator Obama voted AGAINST raising the debt ceiling and saying "raising the debt ceiling shows a lack of leadership by the President and he could not support it", or words to that effect.

The new debt ceiling just requested by the President yesterday would bring the debt to around 17 Trillion, around 7 Trillion since Obama became President. Seems to me that makes Obama a hypocrite.

Can a Christian endorse a Mormon or vote for a Mormon?

Can you imagine reading in Chronicles and Kings, that there was a new King in Juda, who listened to false prophets, but since he was coming from the private sector, he knew how to create jobs, and God was blessing him with peace and prosperity?

Matthias, Yes a Christian is allowed to vote for a fellow Christian.

The official name of the Mormon Church is (pay attention, Matthias) The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. Judging from their official name I would suggest that they are Christians. Perhaps we don't agree with all their beliefs such as the Book of Mormon but that isn't all they have. Talk to a Mormon and learn a little more about them. It's okay, they don't bite.

There are thousands of sects (denominations) of Christianity and they don't all agree on everything. If they did agree than there would be no need for so many denominations.

Romney attacks Santorum for wasteful spending on teapot museums and indoor rainforests.....but isn't attacking Santorum, who doesn't have a snowball's chance in a rainforest of ever beating him, not wasteful spending?

Oh, wait.....that wasn't Romney saying that, it was his PAC. And as he said in the debate last weekend, he hadn't seen any of his PAC's ads against Newt Gingrich. And then 12 seconds later, he added that "in the ones I saw" and then quoted them almost verbatim.

So I guess he hasn't seen this one either. I withdraw my question.

That was my second favorite moment of the debate, JoAnne. My first was when Romney said he hadn't run for re-election as governor of Mass. because "why, that would have been all about me". Surely no politician ever does anything all about him or herself.

Santorum was OK with the calls of the GOP establishment for Perry and Gingrich to back off the Bain Capital issue, but he jabbed Romney on the MA healthcare issue. He did say that the candidate can't be the "issue." I suppose the Romney Super PAC sees Santorum as a threat in SC, with the possibility of pulling in many of the Evangelical voters.

So, it's more "sauce" on the gaggle of geese.

                  PRO-ROMNENY SUPER PACS?

State Tax Payers are stuck with even more BAILOUTS ----- Caused by companies just like Bain Capital dumping the retirement funds that are contributing to bankrupting states around our nation

Private Equity Firms are another Bubble soon to Crash, & are one of the causes

Private equity is routinely charged with all sorts of iniquity. It strips companies of assets and flips them for a fast buck. It loads them up with dangerous amounts of debt, to suck out capital for its investors. It pays scant attention to employees and suppliers. Its greedy partners avoid the tax that others have to pay. If the markets turn, the volume of condemnation will only increase. Imagine the derision when funds stop making money even as their partners take home large salaries on the basis of past achievements; when private-equity-owned companies default on debts, leaving insurers and pension funds saddled with the losses; when workers are put on to the street because of desperate cost-cutting or bankruptcies.

Creditors around the world have started questioning the easy money offered to private-equity firms, which feed off risky types of debt.

Romney got a $4 Million Dollar Golden Parachute ---- Bain Capital got $44 Million in tax payer BAILOUTS

ROMNEY SHOWS CONSERVATIVES REALLY DO LOVE TAXPAYER BAILOUTS & BUSTING STATES

JUST FOR THE PROFIT THEY KNOW THEY CAN SCAM OFF OF AMERICAN FAMILIES -- THE TAX PAYER & CONSUMER

CONSERVATIVES CREATED THESE SUPER PACS WITH CITIZENS UNITED

Romney's is funded with your own tax money awarded to Bain Capital & other Private Equity firms
