Looking at the exit polls: A class divide for Romney

While Mitt Romney tonight over-performed among the groups he struggled with in Iowa -- conservatives, Tea Party supporters, evangelicals -- he didn't fare as well among middle-class and lower-class GOP primary voters.

According to the exit polls, Romney got 51% from those making $200,000 or more, and he got 45% among those making between $100,000 and $199,999 -- higher than the total 36% where he currently stands in New Hampshire.

But among those making less than $30,000, he captured just 31%. And among those making between $30,000 and $49,999, he got 32%. And among those making $50,000 to $99,999, he got 35%.

I can't think express how much I loathe Ron Paul and his BS poisoning the young kids minds. Freedom is the last thing this racist wants; otherwise this fool would not espouse segregation.

Why does Ron Paul accept the endorsements of White Supremacist? Ron Paul may use the anti-battle cry; but what about domestic policies.

The man is poison!!!!

K-727,

Can you get your head out of Ron Paul's A-hole?

It's racist for Ron Paul to say the Civil War should have been avoided by buying the slave that way no lives would been lost.
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/273452/20111228/ron-paul-2012-civil-war-lincoln-gop.htm

Is that equal justice camouflaged in fiscal conservatism? I think not. From my perspective it is another of Ron Paul's witch's brew for covert, isolatative, kooky, old, lying homophobic, segregationist (racist).

Ron Paul is a kook because his racism is inflicting a deleterious affect on our future; our youth ; amongst his other crazy stances such as his wheel barrow theory of using coins instead of money.

Ron Paul is a racism is inflicting a deleterious affect on our future; our youth ; amongst his other crazy stances such as his wheel barrow theory of using coins instead of money.

Paul told CNBC this morning that reduction of interest rates on dollars drawn off the swap lines amount to U.S. taxpayers buying Greek debt.

That’s not true, of course: the dollar-Euro swaps have fixed maturities ranging from 7 to 84 days, and the Europeans pay the Fed interest when they swap the Euros and give us dollars back. But why let a few facts get in the way of ideology.

Go ahead push your coins on a wheel barrow to the banks.LOL

Beverly:

You loathe that he has those youngsters on the Republican side. lol.....this is good. You need to stop fabricating and putting words into Paul's mouth.

A lot of whites (Democrat and Republican) that grew up in the pre Civil Rights era feel the same way. They may not say it out loud but they have it inside. There are a lot on here that you co-sign everyday with from that era.

If Byrd can say n*(()r on the Senate floor in this day and age; why does Paul have to answer for things he said many moons ago? I live pretty close to his district and those people love him both black and white. Al "I need a Perm" Sharpton says BS all of the time and you all just lap it up.

The American people are well aware this win was bought ...not earned ..that's why it will hold little or no real relevance ...You are witnessing the buying of a country ..This will not give the people jobs or be better for the people ...This is about the wealthy buying our country for their own profits ...Once the Romney generals are in place ..look out ...it will be Bain Capital all over again.. but on a massive scale !

America be ready to grab your ankles once again .. you have no idea what this religious cult member has the in mind for America !..This is about his profit not the people !

Beverly, it is obvious that you are for the extreme left wing. I am not going to attack your views and left slant, you are entitled to them. But to characterize Ron Paul as a racist is simply false and irresponsible. He believes, to his core, in liberty. He believes in small government and the Constitution. He does oppose the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but he opposes it because it violated personal property rights. He does not oppose the equal treatment of black people and has condemned Jim Crow laws. As for the rest of your post - you are presenting him as guilty by alleged association with unsavory characters... Do you apply that same argument to Obama? Obama, after all, is associated with Bill Ayers (a convicted domestic terrorist). Obama was a follower of Jeremiah Wright (an anti-American, "pastor"). Obama is a an admitted criminal himself - he wrote about his illegal drug use in his book. If you are consistent, you must condemn Obama if you are willing to condemn Ron Paul for the "evidence" you have given.

No it isn't false to characterize Ron paul as a racist, because he is one. Guess he'd have to carry a sign and a sheet to convince you. Wake up and grow up. Wildly claiming racism with the President you love to hate doesn't make your argument any stronger by the way...it just shows how readily you swallow the nonsense of your puppet masters.

You can't talk to these "Obama zombies". They are so drunk on the kool aid. It's like Herman Cain said ....they want to live on the "Democrat Plantation."

These Liberal kool aid drinkers have so much hate for anyone who touts "personal responsibility" or wants the govt. ( the nanny state ) out of their lives.

Ron Paul is a libertarian and has nothing but disdain for the "Nanny state" , so the Obama zombies hate him.

Ron Paul would be a LOT better than Obama, at least Paul is smart enough to understand that an expanding federal goverment is the road to universal poverty and loss of individual freedom (just look at the real life examples of Greece, Italy and Spain), it amazes me that many young people in this country are begining to see that the socialist promise is false, it gives me confidence in the future that so many can throw off their liberal leaning educations and think for themselves.

As for Romney, he is even better that Ron Paul. Romeny has experience making hard decisions and fixing things that are broken, and our Federal Government is extremely broken.

As for the cult comments, they are no different that racist comments. They come from the same place in the mind and the heart.

Any of the repbulicans are smart enough to look across the pond and see what is actually happening in Europe and understand that Obama policy will make us exactly what they are, bankrupt and full of civil unrest.

The fact that Obama, (and those like you who continue to support him dispite knowing exactly what he is trying to do), still in spite of all the evidence wants desperately to make us just like Greece simply defies all logic. What is it that creates this desire for self-destruction and the creation of a rulling class of government bureaucrats?

It is just tradition. I would think a large state with a diverse population would be a better indicator for a party. But that is common sense - which I don't see breaking out soon.

            phine,

The small states do not add much to the delegate count. It will be the big states and Super Tuesday that will shoot up the delegate count for Romney.Romney got 5 delegates, Paul, 3 and Huntsman 2 for all their work.

but Gingrich, Perry and even Paul have money from Pacs and that money will be spent.

              #3.7 - Tue Jan 10, 2012 11:02 PM EST

What hasn't dawned on their pickled brains yet is that this hunt for the right state to give them credibility in remaining in the race for the brass ring is that regional "successes" do not translate to national appeal. Romney still has 65% voting against him. Ron Paul still has 75% voting against him. The majority of their party are rejecting the field. If Republicans can't hold their noses long enough to cast that vote, they should have zero expectations the rest of registered voters would.

Agreed. Its a sad situation. The media needs to back off. Telling us our vote no longer counts after two states? Telling us who won before the majority of us go to vote? Telling candidates they don't have a chance after one state votes? Two states? The media prediction race puts as bad a spin on the situation as the candidates do when confronted with their 'according to the media' demise.

We need to get back to the popular vote and dump the electoral college process. We need to dump this two-party system and allow an Independent Party an equal position along with a fourth party candidate in-tune with the majority influence, and not just money influence, a place at the table.

And this idea - certainly not logic, that we would allow 'anybody' to be president simply because we don't like the current president is about as dumb as dumb can be. Election and campaign reform must happen before it does us all in. This circus the GOP has presented this primary truly reflects the state of politics in this country.

Once again, the Koch brothers are laughing all the way to the bank.

Why do you think two states decide everything, there will be a lot more votes counted before a decision is made. The first ones have influence to be sure, but they don't decide the nominee, I think it is rare that the winners of the Iowa Caucas have become the party nominee, New Hampshire has a slightly better record, but not much and as far as I am concerned having a motto of LIVE FREE OR DIE gives that state the right to be among the first to throughly evaluate a nominee for the Republican party. That is the proper way to view the role of the Federal Government, and a candidate who can't get through that filter doesn't deserve the opportunity to be president.

                #3.11 - Thu Jan 12, 2012 12:06 PM EST

I would like to see the order of primaries decided by the voter participation in the last election: the more eligible people vote(by percentage), the sooner your primary. Then maybe states would encourage voting, rather than trying to make it harder for people to vote because they're afraid that they'll vote for the wrong guy.

Boyd, some people go to the best schools and have their choice of good jobs when they graduate, thanks to their dad's pull. Others go to third-rate schools, often working when they should be studying and sometimes too hungry to concentrate in class. And when they graduate they have to compete against thousands of other graduates for low-level jobs. Is that what you call "equal opportunity"?

That was the best this 'brain trust' could come up with.

So Scooter Walker passed legislation in WI establishing a one-week wait period before benefits would kick in to help 'business' compete and to save the state money. What a guy.

I recall conservatives blaming politicians for raising taxes to provide services for low-income people, such as young parents, the elderly, and the sick. Talk about blaming an income group. And why wouldn't one blame the wealthy and corporations after the bailout fiasco. I don't trust them, do you? And why?

The American people are well aware this win was bought ...not earned ..that's why it will hold little or no real relevance ...You are witnessing the buying of a country ..This will not give the people jobs or be better for the people ...This is about the wealthy buying our country for their own profits ...Once the Romney generals are in place ..look out ...it will be Bain Capital all over again.. but on a massive scale !

America be ready to grab your ankles once again .. you have no idea what this religious cult member has the in mind for America !..This is about his profit not the people !

say -- you talk about republicans and romney and wealthy but have you considered what obama did just this week? he replaced daley (former JPMC executive) as his chief of staff with lew (former Citigroup executive).

not that long ago lew was doing this as reported by CBS -- ... As chief operating officer of Citigroup Alternative Investments, he helped run the company's proprietary trading business (aka casino). Among the unit's job-creating strategies, one was to bet against the housing market, which other parts of the banking giant had helped inflate.
The Citi division ultimately lost billions. As for Lew, he naturally made big bucks during his three-year stint at Citi, including a roughly $950,000 bonus in 2009 -- after the company's federal bailout. Not all one-percenters are created equal, of course.

so you are ok with obama appointing someone from wall street that received nearly a million dollar bonus after the taxpayers bailed out Citi?

Good one. As an indie, I can give kudos to the right and left...even though it seems the GOP has moved to far to the right for me. The Dems don't do it for me either. The GOP doesn't want to compromise to balance the budget ,making the Dems the more sane choice.

At least Romney is buing the election with PRIVATE MONEY, not using promises of giving away taxpayer money to buy votes like Obama does. Imagine that promising people money that he knows he has to take away from someone else in order to get elected. I can't think of anything more disgusting than to promise people something that isn't yours to promise in order to gain the power to confiscate money from those that have earned it. After all there aren't as many of them they are only the 1% and don't have as many votes as the 99% who you can buy off with the promise of expanded government freebies. You people who think you have the right to someone elses money because some political parasite like Obama can take it away from them and give it to you need to rethink your values and turn your lives around

now that you mention the word "bloated"....it reminds me of our govt. and the bloated DEBT ( $15 trillion) and it's going up on Obama's watch. He spent close to $5 trillion all by himself.

                          Romney for jobs.........Obama for debt.

Let`s not crown Romney yet. He has not captured a significant share of the vote anywhere so far. The GOP has a three-way split going. Romney has benefitted from that so far. Let`s hold off a bit and see what happens.

Yeah, but the real question is, would any of those same voters vote for Obama?

I doubt it and it's going to come down to a choice......Obama (for more debt) or Romney (for jobs).

"Leaona The Liar" has no facts to backup "Romulian Romney." To rationally state that the "Romulian" created jobs consistently is a lie! Has "Leona The Liar" read the Baiin Capital reports from the 1980's?? It appears NOT! Has Leona The Liar" researched the activities of "Romulian Romney" during the 1980's?? Apparently NOT! "Romulian Romney" has NEVER earned his OWN paycheck. NO WAY! The "Romulian" was born into money, and trained to get as much money as possible. NO WAY does the "Romulian" understand the economic struggles of the Middle Class. Research has shown that the "Romulian" has a clear economic record of destroying corporations, firing workers at a high rate, and destroying their benefits. "Liar Leona" obviously has done NO research on this issue of the "Romulian-Bain" connection. "Liar Leona" is either unable to read or comprehend information presented or is a liar. "Looney Leaona" has NOT correctly researched all material on Bain Capital, and the huge role of firing millions of workers by "Romulian Romney." He outsourced thousands of jobs in 1980's, and was paid a fortune to do so. That is fact! Anyone who can THINK, READ, and RESEARCH this information concerning Bain Capital will come to several conclusions. One, the "Romulian" is NOT a job creator. He has a clear economic record of job destroyer. Two, the "Romulian at Bain has caused so much pain for millions of American Workers that he fired. Three, the "Romulian" has NO problem giving huge tax breaks to the very rich. Especially to his very economically powerful Wall Street Bankers/Investors. This is just some of the facts concerning "Romulian Romney."

Whenever a liberal is name calling, his/her facts are NOT there. Sad to say but You are acting desperate ( not to mention rude). Think again if you think you are scaring me away. haha

If Romney says he created jobs, and we know he helped start companies like Staples and Sports Authority, who are YOU to doubt it?

You don't want your "kool aid" spreading to get any interference, so you have to call everyone a liar who disagrees with your own false rhetoric.

                              Sad but true.

BTW, if Wall Street is so loathed by people like you, explain to me why Obama is in their pocket all the time.

Corporations don't have the power to take my money away from me or throw me in jail. Government is run by people, these people have the power to take my money away from me and to throw me in jail and can only provide Jobs to people by taking money from someone else in order to pay them. LONG LIVE CORPORATIONS. Please Please Please help Obama and his Czars, and bureaucrats and expanded power and authority have a short political tenure.

Obama is a multi-millionaire. Not quite as rich as Romeny, but if you are going to preach "hate the rich" you have to include Obama as one of the rich people you need to hate. I don't know about you but I was not able to take my family all around the world on vacations this year. Obama seems to have no problem doing that, but then it's ok because he got his money by being a government parasite, he didn't actually earn it in the private sector.

Govt. money comes from US, the tax payers.

Then, the Democrats in Washington get their greedy ( criminal "insider trading" ) hands on it and become rich , just like Pelosi & Gore.....the list goes on.

                                              elo,

If I may.......the answer is simple.

Corporations and the "wealthy" are using their own money ( whether you believe in Capitalism or not).

After they collect OUR tax dollars, they decide what to do with it. (i.e. Solyndra and other "green" money pits, Union bail outs, etc.) What do we get from those losses???? Answer: NOTHING.

Our country is healing with the help of the Obama Administration and their policies, we're emerging from the deep and very wide hole the Bush administration created for America... do we really want to hand the wheel back to the GOP?

Think twice before voting for a GOP candidate as the entire lot wants to dismantle Medicare, privatize Social Security, repeal health care for all, repeal regulations on wall street, which will allow the wealthy to get wealthier and force the middle class to accept minimum wage jobs.

                                                Obama/Biden 2012

There has been a real change, and not for the better with this last down cycle. Inprevious down cycles, all income levels suffered, but not in the last one. Does this suggest to no one that this crowd is profiting from our misery?

All I can say about Mr. Romney is that he's a Sunday Christian, so Newt did get it right when he called Romney's story "pious baloney". The man is richer than Croesus, but when his business strategy failed, he kicked the people who actually made money for the company to the curb. His pocket change could have alleviated the suffering his company caused when things went wrong, but they took their profits and ran.
