Gingrich campaign pulls out of HQ event

MANCHESTER, NH -- On the eve of the primary New Hampshire, the Newt Gingrich campaign canceled an event at their state headquarters here for "security concerns."

"My apologies for having to cancel tonight's event. We had security concerns regarding the entrance and exit from our headquarters,” Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond told reporters over the phone on the press phone.

Gingrich was scheduled to have a meet and greet with supporters inside his New Hampshire headquarters tonight where volunteers gathered to hear him speak rather than make phone calls the night before the first-in-the-nation primary. Roughly 75 people crammed inside the small office as almost as many protesters gathered outside on the sidewalk shouting and holding signs. Among them were dozens of Ron Paul supporters, Occupy protesters and supporters of long shot presidential candidate Vermin Supreme.

After the traveling press were inside for about 30-minutes, a Gingrich staffer came around and told the press to quietly go get back on the bus.

On the way back out through the crowd of volunteers, NH State Director Andrew Hemingway told a few reporters on passing that the event at the HQ was canceled and Speaker Gingrich was not coming there. Volunteers in earshot were disappointed and began whispering and asking each other what was going on.

Those loyal volunteers, the campaign said, would be taken care of.

“What we have done is combined both events and our New Hampshire staff is currently inviting our hard working volunteers to join us for football” up the road in Concord, Hammond said. “Folks will come on up and for those who can't make it, we will reach out to you separately."

Gingrich’s security decided to pull out of the event before the Speaker ever came in the building though the campaign gave "no comment on security operations" other then saying they do not believe "the good voting public of New Hampshire” is a threat.

"Security concerns?" is probably; "I'm old, tired and out of shape and need a break before voting day. I'm not going to come in one, two or three anyway so my job as, Romney hatched man is done!" Only one of your accomplishments I can say to you Newt, "You did a hellava job!"

His Stepford Wife has to approve of where he goes and has to be there too, the security concern might have been him afraid to go against her orders. Every time he was left on his own he cheated on a wife, she is not gonna have that. Besides she scares me too even just on TV..

Gingrich's staff said they didn't believe "the good voting public of New Hampshire" is a threat. What wasn't overheard due to the noise generated by the supporters of Presidential candidate Vermin Supreme was "but you never know".

Red, how is Ana Banana's joke about Newt being too old, fat, and lazy to attend a Rally a "fear statement"?

I will agree with you that Republicans are fearmongers, I just can't connect that to Ana's joke.

Just curious.

Really? Sounds more like the DNC to me.

Reagan once said "It's not that our liberal friends are ignorant, it's just that what they know, just isn't so"

Now I will need to disagree with Reagan on this one. Thet show their ignaorance every single day.

He didn't get thrown out of Congress. They did remove him from the position of Speaker, did fine him but he resigned from the house under pressure from his colleagues. Not much better. In my opinion it should be illegal for the man to run. He disgusts me.

I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think he is much of a threat at all during this campaign. I never forgot his finger pointing at the Clinton's when he had so much dirt in his own closet. Talk about being hypocritical. One might say he's a changed man, but I wouldn't bet on it. I just wonder how long this wife will last.

The true ignorance shows when people try to defend and justify what the idiot in the White House say and does. When a President or Congress refuses to even read an opposing opinion there is something wrong and it has to be changed. Our Country is a shamble and is deteriorating everyday under the policies of this inept administration.

Yep the Obamanites threatened a Ginrich event.......surprise! Last night I witnessed the BSC game where Jefferson the LSU quarterback reminded me of two other people. He was confused and befuddled by what the LSU defense was doing. The look on his face reminded me of Vince Young former Titan quarterback and barrack Obama. Neither of these two understood what they were seeing or what to do about it either. Looking good or being blessed athletically does not allow you to lead your team/country to victory when the going gets tough. Brains and experience are what are needed in football or the Presidency. Jefferson did not understand the Alabama defense last night. Obama has not understand capitalism since he was elected to office. The Coach-us needs to bench him before we lose the Big Game. Vote to Bench Obama in November for the sake of our Country!

For football buffs and there should be many on here, how cruel was it to leave the befuddled Jefferson-LSU quarterback in the game the 2nd half when it was obvious to all watching that he was incapable of comprehending the Alabama defense and could not move the ball? I blame Les Miles-The Mad Hatter for this stupidity.

THe analogy is obvious between Jefferson and Obama. Why would we the Coach/Voters allow Obama to quarterback the 2nd half when it is so apparent that does not understand what he is up against nor are his "solutions" free enterprise capitalistic. He is strangling the job providers of American with unneeded regulation and the burden of Obamacare. Forcing Billions of our tax dollars into "green energy" because the capital markets will not fund unsound projects. Turning food into ethanol is so damn stupid. The consumers will pay much more for beef, chicken, pork, sweets, soft drinks, etc. for this folly and the drivers will get reduced gas mileage from the ethanol addition. It is time for a business person or a Governor to take the reins from Obama and let him work on his library. He is the black jimmie carter for the democrats.

For an analogy to have any value in an argument, the relevance needs to be proven. It is usually a ploy to win a difficult argument by replacing it with an easy one. In a "free enterprise capitalistic" society, the collapse of 08 needed no solution, it was a natural part of the self-correcting nature of a free, unregulated market. The unemployment rate could rise to 30% and it would not require government intervention. If you must use a football analogy, government is the rulebook, the security and the referee. They are what keep one team from winning by poisoning the opposition's gatorade.

Yep I am part of the crowd that believes that the federal is the problem not the answer. I have discovered this truth over a lifetime of observation. We are being destroyed by a runaway federal debt that is taking the oxygen out of the room so to speak. About 1/3 of the population is permanantly out of the work force removed by the feds. They expect the other 2/3s to support them. They raided SS "trust fund" in the 60's to fund the "great society" i.e. housing projects. OUr own government is the biggest threat to Americas in the 21st century. All my children understand this so I have done part of my job. They were raised right. Yes we are divided into two distinct camps: the producers and the "entitled". From your tone, I must assume you are in the latter. I am very tired of supporting you and your associates.

No I know the devil. I began life politically as a democrat. Participated in some very illegal voting activities which I have been atoning for ever since. I was attracted by the intoxinating power of politics and the easy money from insider influence. The birth of my first child brought me back to the Church and I have spent a lifetime atoning for my misspent youth. As an evangelical Christian, I do believe in God's grace and forgiveness if your repent and sin no more. My last sin was believing in little jimmie carter in '76, he was almost as incompetent as Obama. Sub commander does not a president make any more than a community organizer.

Yes, as pentance, I blog on this thread and most of the times cast my pearls of wisdom among swine whose minds are a closed book. Which requires Jesus's last words as a human, "Forgive them Father for they know not what they do".

Actually, Newt, like his counterparts, are afraid of the opposition. They've never addressed their opposers other than to call them "dirty hippies" when they ask legitimiate questions (this happened recently at a Mitt Romney meet-up). A good politician does not do that. A good politician is supposed to represent all his/her constituents and not call those who disagree with him/her names. As for Obama, he's reached across the aisle countless times. He's even adopted republican ideas, but the minute he adopts them and puts them to the vote, the republicans abandon THEIR idea and vote against it. This party has said multiple times their priority is making Obama a one-term president. They aren't concerned with creating jobs, reducing global warming, or stabilizing the middle class by putting restrictiions on for profit banks and insurance companies. Newt just didn't want to face the protesters and made up some silly excuse. There are protesters at all these events, but no one else has seemed concerned. Newt is toast. I can't believe anyone would support this cheating, hypocritical maniac. I minored in psych, worked in a psych clinic and have worked with youth with psychological disorders for many years. I can spot someone who's mentally unbalanced from miles away and Newt is mentally unbalanced.

HD you are a waste of oxygen.

The problem with repubs is that they have no guilt. They just rape and pilfer and then repent on their deathbeds.

"Nutty Newt" is feeling threated! Really?? How about the threatening "Spewing" he has stated against individuals who are ethnically different than him? How about the threats he has made against Child Labor Laws?? How about his economic threats he has made to destroy Social Security?? How about the threats he has made against the Civil Rights Act Of 1964? How about his threats poltically against the Midldle Class, the Working Poor, the elderly, and the disabled?? How about the threats he has made against Women's Rights? Economically, the "Nutty Newt" Plan is a direct threat against the Middle Class, the Working Poor, the elderly, and the disabled. Remember America! "Nutty Newt" is a hater! NOT a debater!
