Anita Perry makes the case for her husband in SC

ANDERSON, S.C. –- Seeking to help her husband revive his presidential campaign after a fifth-place showing in the Iowa caucuses, Anita Perry recalled the peak of enthusiasm for Rick Perry's campaign as she addressed a local Republican club.

“If some of you were thinking about Rick Perry when we were here in August, I hope you're still thinking about him,” Anita Perry said, referring to Perry’s presidential announcement on Aug. 13 in Charleston.

“If not, I hope you will go back and visit his record of cutting spending, reducing taxes, and helping build the nation’s strongest economy in Texas,” she told a group of about 50 members of the Anderson County First Monday Club, meeting at a Chinese restaurant here.

Perry told the group that she and her husband had not taken the decision lightly to jump into the presidential race, adding that he still had her full support. “If I didn’t think my husband was the right man with the right record to lead this country, we would have stayed in Texas,” she said.

She took a veiled jab at her husband’s opponents, drawing an implicit contrast between what she called his political consistency -- both on the trail and in office. “With Rick Perry, you don’t have to wonder whether as president you’re going to get the same person you saw as a candidate,” she said.

Speaking with NBC News after her speech, Perry denied that her husband ever considered suspending his presidential campaign after Iowa, despite his late-night announcement on caucus night that he was returning to Austin to “reassess” the campaign.

“We were never going to suspend the campaign. We always said we were going to reassess, and we did and it took us no time at all and we’re happy to be here in South Carolina,” she said. “We are not quitters.”

While her husband continues his bus tour through the state, Anita Perry will visit with the York County Federation of Republican Women tonight in Rock Hill.

Ya Know? I would have a wee bit more respect for those in the clown car if them and their super duper blood money pacs would do this? When they flood the towns to bait voters, they donate money to heat the homes of the poor elderly, the poor families instead of put spinning, lying ads on the local stations. The millions/billions wasted to con and lie to the citizens is disgusting. Honestly. The compassion with this group in the clown car is non-existant. Bottomline. GET MONEY OUT OF OUR ELECTION PROCESS, GET THE MONEY OUT OF OUR HOUSE/SENATE. I predict the republicans will lose seats in the house and senate. The election is over. Obama 2012

Nobody here supports either Perry or Santorum. The only Republican candidate I have ever seen someone actively state their support for is Ron Paul, who isn't going to win anyways.

Ask the liberal demos and OBOMBO AND PELOSI who rammed healthcare down americans

throats all for the sake of big unions and payoffs so he could get his government control

healthcare instead of letting people buy across state lines and let competition make the

price! All healthcare has gone UP and services CUT since OBOMBO passed this illegal law

and americans are suffering! people who needed healthcare could always get it even if

it meant going to emergency room so don't give me this liberal crap!

      #3.1 - Thu Jan 12, 2012 4:04 PM EST

      GoodvsEvil,

Probably one of the least intelligent posts on here. Congratulations. Does it bother you, on an intellectual level, that none, NONE of the provisions that would affect healthcare costs have been implemented, so your complaint regarding the cost of healthcare IS the marketplace? Does it bother you on a human level that 49.9 million Americans are uninsured, and that that number has increased 12.8 MILLION from 2000 - 2010?

And your comment that "people who needed healthcare could always get it even if it meant going to emergency room so don't give me this liberal crap" really tilts the "moron meter" into the red. First, do you know how much less expensive it is to have a doctor's office visit than an ER visit? Second, and this should interest you, who do you think is paying for the increased cost of people without insurance visiting the ER? Well, I don't know about you but because I HAVE INSURANCE I'm paying for it. "How am I paying for it," you might ask. (Well you wouldn't, but if you thought that far ahead you might.) I'm paying for it through increased insurance costs. Which directly addresses your first uninformed statement about the cost of healthcare.

As to your equally uninformed comment about "government control healthcare [sic]" the Republicans battle cry was that this is the government control of healthcare. From FactChecker: "This snappy talking point (government takeover) is used by Republicans repeatedly to bash Obama's crowing legislative achievement, but it is simply not true. In fact, PolitiFact.com labeled this claim the 2010 "lie of the year," but that has not stopped lawmakers from making this claim. It will surely be heard again on the House floor during the repeal debate."

Again, have your own opinion; that's your right. You can't have your own facts (or lack thereof); that's just wrong.

liberal demos and OBOMBO AND PELOSI who rammed healthcare down americans

Outright false. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was passed 60/38. In comparison, the Founding Fathers were perfectly happy with a 51/49 majority (or even a 51/50 majority with the VPs tie vote) to pass legislation.

          #3.5 - Sun Jan 15, 2012 11:29 PM EST

People are full of crap! When an American doesn't pay for healthcare, the rest of US pay for that individual whether you like it or not. So stop fooling yourself, the Healthcare law is good and needs a bit of straightning. So people if it was some "whiter" guy passing the bill (GOODvsEVIL) would not be talking. Just like the wars that were not paid for, but the citizens had to get taxed to pay for contractor-buddies of BUSH-CHENEY. Where didn't anyone complain then? Or ask how the wars were to be funded? And still we have a mormon aka joseph-smith dude who would love to continue with this stupid war and continue shipping jobs overseas while importing them back here for triple the prize. If Americans think he's right and the Republicons too, this must be a nation full of drooling idiots.

What Mrs. Perry fails to mention is the fact that her husband probably can't even carry Texas. He received only just over one third of the votes when elected governor in a 3 way race. She also fails to note that California is rated as the sixth strongest economy in the WORLD. Texas had to use federal funds to bail themselves out a year or so ago. Without said funds they would now be facing a 29 billion dollar deficit.

A vote for Rick Perry is a vote for ignorance, lies, and of course the Texas version of Sharia Law.

            Liberal,

Clearly the plague that you reference is eating away at your intellect. While I don't usually take exception to misspellings (hey, they happen), when you take a shot at intellectuals at least don't show why you envy them and harbor such resentment.

First, it's "their" (showing possession, as their empty catch lines) not there (identifying a place, as in over there). Second, it's "no one", two words, not noone (which isn't a word, to my knowledge).

As for your reference to the scare card, I believe it was your Ditzy Diva (aka Failin' Palin) that trotted out the 'death panels' argument that was reported by Fux (rhymes with "sucks") News and repeated as an "empty catch line" by the right.

Now back to the topic, which happens to be my moronic governor (at the moment). The three best things said about Rick Perry:

            1. The only politician alive that makes George W look brilliant.

            2. (Regarding Perry's complaint that President Obama feels like he's the smartest guy in the room and all the problems that's caused). If Rick Perry is alone in a room, and someone else walks in, Perry's chances of being the smartest guy in the room drop precipitously.

            3. Well, umm, errr .... I forget ("Oops").

It amazes me when a significant percentage of a party wraps themselves in the blanket of ignorance (meaning not knowing, or ignoring, the facts) and actually touts that as some badge to be proud of. As for empty catch lines, I see your post as adding absolutely nothing meaningful or insightful to the conversation.

You can have your opinion; that's your right. You can't have your own facts; that's just wrong.

Since I am an English major I believe my spelling is correct but I know you just have to try to say something to make yourself seem smart. Maybe it is the myopic vision that you have that makes you blind to the facts.

I wonder how many of you actually volunteer with poor as I do or give to your local charities. My guess is that very little of you do. "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, 'the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

let’s be clear, this country is in disarray, first off financially we are out of control and I mean we !!! Do in large part to gov't intrusion into the routine functioning of the private sector. I might add a system that has created a wonderful lifestyle attainable by all Americans that have the intestinal fortitude to just reach out and make it their own. Conversely they work for us we designated them to represent us. We are held accountable for what they do. i.e. Nearly 16 trillion dollars of indebtedness. If it is your goal to reverse this trend of economic wreck less abandon then you must be mindfully aware of who is delegated with the responsibility of responding to the needs of our nation.

Secondly our nation is not producing at full capability, there are too many people who are not gainfully employed this creates a culture of enslavement dependency when left to propagate to long. (This phenomenon in America affects the entire world economy). If you see yourself as a victim then that is what you will remain. Most people do well when they have the pride of ownership of their own lives.

Next up Sovereignty, are we a Nation governed by rule of law or not. Allowing felonious interlopers to infiltrate our country’s communities deprives us of our ability to remain a sovereign representative republic. This action leading to societal deterioration and decay allowing federal government to actively thwart our ability to remain thus is wholly unacceptable

The unfortunate problem is that this person could be running the country and then you would really be in trouble.
