EXETER, NH -- Under the championship wrestling banners lining the walls of a high school gym here in Exeter tonight, Mitt Romney and Chris Christie got into verbal wrestling matches of their own with three separate sets of Occupy protesters.
"This is our regular group here," Romney said drily when a small group of Occupiers began to chant "Mitt Kills Jobs" midway through his speech.
As the group was being escorted out, Romney said it was "wonderful" to live in a country where people can express their views, but that he wished they would do it with "a little bit more courtesy."
When the protesters interrupted Christie minutes later with a similar chant, he was less accommodating.
"Really?" Christie asked, when the chants of "Christie Kills Jobs" began. "You know something may go down tonight but it ain't gonna be jobs, sweetheart."
Christie was interrupted just has he began to rail against a Washington culture of division, which he said was guided by President Obama, and he used the disruption to further his argument.
"I doubt he is, but I hope the president’s watching," Christie said. "I have a message for you Mr President: This is the type of disoriented anger your cynicism and your division is causing in our country. Bring our country together stop dividing it Mr. President."
Christie's clear delight at dealing with the protesters energized a crowd that the local police estimated to be more than 800 strong. That turnout number, if accurate, would make tonight's rally one of Romney's largest of the campaign thus far. But even as he shook hands with supporters who spilled over to an overflow room, Romney was confronted by one last Occupy protester, who continued to needle about the causes of the recession, Romney even as staff attempted to guide the candidate away. Romney instead turned back to face the protester head-on.
"You know what? This president has caused a deepening recession and is responsible for 25 million Americans being out of work or stopped working or not being able to get jobs," Romney said, before walking away. "And let me tell you, this president's been a failure and that's one of the reasons I'm running is to help you get a job."

Something tells me the OWS crowd is going to have a field day with Willard "Mitt" Romney. I can't believe that in an election the Republicans want so badly to win that Mitt is the best they can come up with. The man has been running for office since 1992 and only won one election. He decided to not run for re-election when his approval rating dropped below 30%. That rumbing you hear is the start of a landslide.....
When is the OWS going to D.C and protest the originators of the economic crisis in this country The Whitehouse and Congress? When OWS dioes that, then I may take them serious, until then , LOSERS

Heh heh, have to admit, it was rather funny though. I'm 63 on SS and what is funny is I agree with you on some of this. I've seen the changes over the last 45 years in our politics for the worse and not better. You need to get a smaller paint brush, not all of us baby boomers are that way and you'd be surprised LOL
LOL - my parets are boomers, and I love them very much. I don't blame them, I blame human nature. Any generation during that timeframe would have done the same thing, just used and used resources, because at the time no one ever thought they would ever run out.
Well, it now looks like the oil will run out in my lifetime - maybe 40 years from now. But before the oil even runs out, the trouble will start. The entire US economy is based on cheap oil. Our way of life cannot survive gas at $5 per gallon. And we may be there by 2013 or 2014.
So you have got to understand why all of this polarization and demagoguery is pissing me off so much. It's like we are on the Titanic and it's sinking, and everyone is arguing whether the Captain is a good guy or not.
The boat is freaking sinking! Can we address that issue first, please????

Apparently a wad of Mr. Christie's fat content has reached his so-called brain and is clogging his logic center. If he's blaming the President for divisiveness, he needs to have a giant stent shoved into his burst-worthy cortex to help free his flow of reality. Then, while in recovery, he can peruse the Congressional minutes of the last three years' sessions and enjoy a few dozen "Ah-ha" moments.

Basically Romney and Christie are saying let's go back to the GW Bush years and do the same things that got us into this mess in the first place, maybe it will work this time. No it won't. Obama's ideas are starting to get us out of the mess Bush made but unfortunately it's taking a longer time than everyone would like, including me. What is Obama's fault though is that he doesn't stick to his guns enough. He gives in too easily. Hopefully he'll stop that in the future but who knows. I still prefer him to another GW Bush presidency.
Capitalism is definitley now "working" for the rich. It works best for the capitalists when it isn't working. When it is "working" the boss class is on defensive and employees have a better chance of not being destitute, for a time. When it isn't "working" the boss class wins, they lower wages and the number employees, thereby increasing their profits through abuse and instilling fear. If it is or has been working for the majority anywhere at anytime, please let me know where, when and for how long. Incidently, it apparently is working to some degree in countries that have placed restraints on it - to avoid an all out revolution. Freedom? Business Cycles?, Motivation? or chronic and/or acute chaos and instability?
Romney is the ultimate opportunist. He's paper-thin and now Christie is following him like a lamb.

You're welcome. What I'm hoping for is OWS to really get going this coming summer. I'm thinking these are the only people that will hopefully stop the insanity. I wholly support them and if nessesary, I'll participate in a protest and maybe this retired senior will get pepper sprayed by some hot shot but only if my health will allow it heh heh.

I really hope you are right about OWS! I know it started as a grass roots movement which is very promising. I just hope they don't get co-opted into the usual name calling and finger pointing, and actually focus.

hahaha, I find your whole rant ridiculous, but I'd like to focus on one part. You say they shipped away our jobs. I'd like to know where it says that you have a right to a job just because you were born here or are a citizen here. I'm anxiously awaiting your response.

canoworms...I've heard my whole life how politicians and lawyers were scumbags and I never really thought much about it. You are 100% correct though, once you start reading and finding out things for yourself, you see how corrupt these parasites really are.
