Rick Santorum, in endorsing Paul Ryan's plan, said during the debate this morning that if implemented, Americans could get the same kind of plan members of Congress have.
That's not true, according to the Washington Post's fact checker:
"The comparison to Congress is obviously a well-crafted applause line." But… "The focus on 'a system just like members of Congress and federal employees have' suggests that this would be something better than the typical employee plan. But it will not have a key feature of the current plan — a promise that the government will pick up 75 percent of the health-care tab."

*gasp*
Little Ricky is fibbing?
Who would of guessed! lol
Which reminds me, anyone hear what the 'repeal & replace' crowd are going to exchange ObamaCare with?
Other then Groupons....
There's always chicken.
green stamps?
Wouldn't it have been awesome if We The People would have gotten the full power and resources of the American Press to "fact check" Obamacare?
Maybe then it wouldn't be a shock in 2012 when we find out it gonna cost us more than we could fathom and states & companies everywhere are asking for and getting waivers.
Except it is costing us less. Just graduated from college cherub can stay on our insurance while applying to grad school.
Other than your hatred of the first black President who is also from the Democratic Party, what do you offer, Michael?
Trolls are boring.
Especially when they are a 're-reg'! ;o)
Let's not feed him...
No kidding, Feisty.
...and wouldn't it be awesome if the GOP offered some alternative to the Health Care Reform package that was signed into law? We're still waiting for that, aren't we?
...and since when were the Republicans interested in fact-checking Health Care Reform? Last I saw they were more interested in telling us about "Death Panels" and "It's Socialism".
Facts can be a bitch. In what world is Obamacare cheaper?...lol
LOL....you silly liberals always go back to the race card....how cowardly.
Imcompetence knows no color.
I know you cannot be THAT retarded...who do you think is paying that? And if wasn't available yesterday but it is today, does it not stand to reason that it will cost more?
Nevermind. You have bored me.
WE are paying that. Through our group plan through our employment. At a HUGE savings over buying a single plan.
Trolls are boring and not very smart.
Michael1969
Facts can be a bitch. In what world is Obamacare cheaper?...lol
------------------
Despite your ignorant post "Michael", we notice that neither you or your Reslugican masters haven't put up an alternative and viable healthcare plan. Easier to sit on the sidelines and bark like the impotent neo-con Yorkshire terrier you are rather than put up or shutup eh?
It's easy to get bored Michael when you don't have anything to discuss, just your hateful same old regurgitated comments.
LOL...It's all good Girly_Bits.....I'm sure there's enough ale to find someone to tap that for ya! ;)
One day the bitterness will wear off...
The Party of No and Baggers make liars look like Diogenes.
The daily attack mode has begun for the liberals. Asking incoherent questions like what has the GOP put up as an alternative to Obamacare if it gets repealed... Huh? In what world do you reside? Why does there HAVE to be an alternative? Why not just let it die? Did you grow a free healthcare fever? Does the government HAVE to become more involved in our personal lives?
I guess only to the liberals... wanting government to tie their shoes, button their buttons and comb their hair.
Never stop asking - Tell me the truth... a democrat has never told a lie to the American public before? A democrat candidate has never told a lie?
Where does all this indignation come from? You people act like this is the first time ever a politician has shot his mouth off in the wrong direction.
Brain, the point is, there are infrequent, isolated, solipsistic, "bad seeds" amongst Democrats.
The Evil, Party of No, Baggers, perpetrate a Systemic, Organized, Insidious, doctrine of evil that undermines the Founders' Intents.
ROFL!!!!! You are way too funny Never Stop. The only thing you know about the other party is what you have been told by liberal sources. You don't understand any of their intent because there is a liberal/progressive force that undermines all of what they stand for. You have chosen to stick with the liberals and believe only what they want you to believe.
The isolated "bad seeds" as you call them, in the democrat party are only in your imagination. The pedistal you have placed the democrat party on does not exist. There is no pedistal for the republicans either.
Jaded views lead to anger, disappointment and frustration. Your view is quite jaded.
I should start reading the right wing blogs. I'm sure they are not attacking liberals there. I'm sure they are singing praise for The President. You know when they come here they are also really nice people. Yes if we all could be like the right, the world would be a better place full of happy people.
brianb is far too unknowing to realize that nothing in health care reform is free. It is not a giveaway. Just makes it more affordable by requiring people to be insured, so that hospitals and doctors get paid, thereby avoiding passing on costs to the insured.
Brian, it's simple. Health care costs have spiraled uncontrolably. The Health Care Reform package represents a first attempt to try and rein in those costs. Where are the Republican ideas to do the same?
Newdaydawning said: brianb is far too unknowing to realize that nothing in health care reform is free. It is not a giveaway. Just makes it more affordable by requiring people to be insured, so that hospitals and doctors get paid, thereby avoiding passing on costs to the insured.
I'm unknowing as per your version of who I am. Nice.
Let me ask you this Newday. If people can't afford this new affordable insurance, what then? The liberals are always touting the poor in this country... Many of them can barely afford food... how are they supposed to pay for this affordable healthcare? You'd better not say let the government give it to them because then you fall into the trap of it becoming an entltlement and then someone else has to pay for it.
Here is an idea you will hate. Right now people without insurance go to the emergency room or hospital, and the people with insurance or medicaid or medicare picks up the tab. Lets really put the government directly in charge of health care for the poor. Lets let the VA provide health care for them, lots of GI's coming back from Iraq need jobs many have medical training many more can be trained. People that have no means of paying for health care can go to their local VA hospital and receive treatment directly from Uncle Sam, with no middle man, no billing fraud, and no reduction of profit for private hospitals that must treat people who wind up in the emergency room as if it were a clinic because they know they can't be turned away. The savings in fraudulent medicaid billing and paperwork would be huge, we can experiment with real government provided health-care with no middlemen in between to skew the effectiveness, or actual cost to taxpayers. Hell we can shift a little defense spending from building weapons to building a few more hospitals, I think a hospital probably costs less than a fighter jet, for those concerned with the spending.
Actually Forrest, that's not a bad idea. It sure beats this:
You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimention. A dimention of sound.... of sight.... A dimention of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas... you have just crossed over to Obamacare.
I actually tink it is a good idea if you want to give poor people health care at low cost. A government owned VA hospital treats them directly, there is no extra cost to the government above the staff and supplies, no medicaid billing fraud, no cost of billing and paperwork, huge savings. They go they get treatment the government pays it's own staff, no middleman, virtually every dollar spent is spent on health care for the needy. The medical providers and health insurance lobbyists heads would explode, at the mere mention of a plan like this.
Hi Guys, hows things been going today ;-0)
The thee biggest Teapublican lies are; 1) the stimulus was poorly managed causing slow recovery from the recession (though the CBO and other impartial experts prove the stimulus did work), 2) the Affordable Care Act--AKA "Obamacare"--is causing slow recovery from the recession (though it doesn't go into full affect until 2014 yet we are already seeing savings from it), and 3) Dodd-Frank is causing slow recovery from the recession (though it is not Glass Steagall to prevent "Too Big to Fail" but better than nothing in regard to risking tax payer money). Romney broke the record by saying all three of these lies in one sentence!
Santorum is the Jesus Candidate #1, who at least admits he is (though he tries to fudge on Jesus meaning all religions, but we all know Santorum would never represent people of other faiths especially Muslims or people of no faith, who combined with the Jewish faith is a large % of the population), and that abortion and gay marriage is more important than JOBS.
Repatriating money via zero corporate taxes will NOT increase manufacturing. The Teapublican "jobs" plan is to implement an even more extreme version of what caused the economic meltdown in the first place -- tax cuts for the rich and corporations, deregulation including Wall Street/banks, and cuts in spending that hurt only the middle class and working poor!
All the GOP/TP candidates are lying when they say they will repeal anything that is already law of the land -- Unless they are planning to overthrow the government (congress, Supreme Court, etc.) and become dictators, which wouldn't surprise me. Throw the Teapublicans out!
Your being to kind LIAR is more like it
As usual this morning, David Gregory, Top Carnival Barker of what used to be called the MSM, Failed. He asked 1 question that deserved an answer from everyone on the stage.
As President, how would you govern if the Democratic Leaders made a Statement that thier entire Political agenda is based on makeing You a 1 Term President?
Jon Huntsman supposedly answered it(5 seconds worth), but gregory did'nt followup with all participates. I don't know much about NH Politics, but I think Huntsman will make a run in the next couple days before polls open.
Romney will still Win, but his performances in these debates(if ya wanna call'em that), show that he's a Shell of the Common Man(Woman) that he so Wishes to Govern. Hopefully American's don't want PlasticMan as the leader of the Free World.
Aint No such thing as Climate change, but in the 60's here in Rural Ky the last 2 days & the 5 day forecast is around 50.
Can't wait for "GroundHog Day"!
Occupy SoggyBottom!
Lets go back to the old days. Just don't get sick. If you do your on own. Just hope you die before the money runs out.
Considering the old days, when people's life expectancy was in their 40-50's I guess the system we have today just isn't good enough for the progressives. Average life expectancy today is somewhere in their 70-80's. 78.1 to be exact. Now progressives feel that Obamacare will do what, exactly? Increase life expectancy? Fat Chance. All it will do is cost us more freedom and more money. I hope it dies in the Supreme Court.
Ask anyone who has been turned down for health insurance for a preexisting condition. Ask anyone who's insurance has dropped them because there policy has reached it s limit. Ask anyone who has insurance, but the insurance company won't pay out because of a preexisting condition. Ask anyone who has to get into a insurance pool because of there preexisting condition, than they are told there premium would be doubled or tripled compared to before they were sick. I can keep on going but we've heard all this before. Most people want insurance they can afford and not be penalized because of illness. Health care should not be a for profit business. Its not right to make a profit off of someone's pain and suffering.
I've had a pre-existing condition most of my adult life. I've never been turned down for health insurance. I've been placed on a waiting period but that is only around 3 months or so for my ailment. Not a big problem.
All policy's have limitations. What's wrong with that? You get what you pay for. If you so choose, you can increase limitations by paying more in premiums. You can also buy hamburger, or pay for steak.
So in your conclusion, you feel the government should take over the health insurance industry? Is this what you are implying? Insurance is there to protect your financial well being. It's not there to protect you from health problems. Now you want the government to control that... You are willing to give up your liberty in order to have them pay for your healthcare... I can't believe it's come to this in America.
Did you read my whole post? Where does it say anything about government? Can't you read. I said Most people want insurance they can afford and not be penalized because of illness. How can insurance protect your financial well being if they drop you, or don't pay because of a preexisting condition. Or how can insurance protect your financial well being if they won't even cover you because of a preexisting condition. I'm a cancer survivor it took five years to be able to get insurance. One company won't touch you for 10 years after recovery. No big problem where its not you. Where do you see a government take over of the health care industry in that.
About policy"s limitations you make sound so easy. Just increase your limitations. Thats easy to say when you can afford it. So what your saying is if you can't afford your on your own.
Why is it that people cannot understand that if we dump the insurance coverage for routine medical issues that costs would fall through the floor?
Could someone please answer that for me?
I believe the operative term is, "It was not intended to be a factual statement."
Well did everyone watch the debate? (if that was what you could call it)
Egilman, I'm sure you meant to ask if everyone watched the debacle. And no, I didn't want to upset my stomach and raise my blood pressure watching staged lies and talking points from Fox again. :-)
I watched as much as I could stand, Egilman, but between Romney's smirks and the same ol stuff from everyone else, AND Gregory, I found much to accomplish besides watching that debate.
newdaydawning: As you, I watched about one-half hour of the debate until I realized that I was not going to learn anything new. Rather, the "debate" reinforced my opinion that Jon Huntsman is the only GOP candidate that has any substance. Mitt Romney's lack of substance is astounding; he cannot answer a question regarding his views on an issue. All he can do is bash President Obama.
Mary: I agree with you. Huntsmen does not have a prayer. And being fluent in Chinese will not help him with the Republican Party. They will be more not less, suspicious of him.
I call it the Revitalize Romney's image debate, it didn't work in my opinion.
The moderation SUCKED! total control didn't allow any real interaction.
First 15-18 minutes ws each candidate not romney getting 2-3 minutes and romney getting 2-3 to respond to each
Blatant attempt to give mitts a friendly forum. Worst debate of all I've watched..
newday: Exactly. Your statement regarding that the GOP will be suspicious of Jon Hunstman is illustrated by that online ad from a Ron Paul PAC, which suggests that Jon Huntsman possesses Chinese ideals, not American ideals.
I watched about 20 minutes of the debate and just the same old regurgitated talking points they've been using for months. I don't know what debate these pundits are watching, but the ones I've seen Romney can not debate, he gets all twisted up when trying to answer a question not on his talking points list. Anybody that thinks Romney can debate President Obama is fooling themselves big time.
It's sad, Mary, because these people can't seem to understand that we play in a global village. We are no longer protected by the ocean.
The attack on Huntsman through his adopted children was despicable.
newday: It is truly sad, on a number of levels. Jon Huntsman is exactly what the GOP should want. He is extremely conservative, intelligent, and a gentleman. (He also plays the piano well. I enjoyed watching him play on David Letterman!) Additionally, as you said, the attack on Mr. Huntsman was not only unfair, it was appalling in that it used his children to make a despicable point.
Thanks for the discussion!
As a conservative Democrat, I will more than likely vote for President Obama in November. However, while I don't agree with many of Jon Huntsman's views on domestic policy, I do believe that he would be a good POTUS. My husband, a Republican, will vote for Mr. Hunstman in our primary, and in the general election, if he would win the GOP nomination.
You too, Mary. Have a good Sunday.
Morning Egilman ... I watched ... seems in 350 odd years we have gone from a President who cannot tell a lie to a Mitts wannabe who cannot tell a truth.
I didn't watch the debates. Instead, I watched Ghostbusters II on Netflix. I think I got the better entertainment value though. These debates from the republicans are getting old, crusty and the same result keeps happening... Romney center stage.
I am hoping the same structure of events happen this cycle as did last. In the last presidental election Huckabee was way out ahead in Iowa and as time moved on, he fell to the wayside. I hope the same thing happens with Romney... I can't stand the guy.
Well completely agree with you Brian I can't stomach Romney either, he just comes across, and has in fact proved he will lie, he has played both sides of every issue, he simply says anything that he feels is politically expedient on a given day. I make fun of Perry as being a dufus, but even at that he seems much more honest, and likable than Romney, at least you get the feeling he believes what he is saying even you disagree with him. You know what would be a great debate moment? If the other four candidates while Romney was speaking would each position themselves around him with fire extinguishers in hand ready for the moment when his pants catch fire. I can deal with all kinds of people who do not agree with me, I can find a way to compromise and settle disputes between labor and management and recognize legitimate honest concerns and problems on both sides, I cannot deal with somebody that will stand there and lie right to my face even when they know I know they are lying. Misguided, misinformed, misconceptions, honest disagreements, and even a pre-determined bias is one thing, but shameless lying is quite another, I can't deal with that. If I had to work with Mitt Romney in real life, sooner or later we would wind up rolling around in the dirt, because there comes a point where if you are going to repeatedly lie to my face, you are going to have to kick my ass as well.
Forrest, your post made me laugh... I like the fire extinguisher idea.
Here's my problem... if Romney wins, I am going to face a real struggle in the voting booth. I can't vote for Obama... you know that about me... I don't know if I can vote for Romney either. I might do a write in and put Mickey Mouse on it instead. At least I'll be voting for a being that, in my opinion, is much more American, much more honest, and a lot more trustworthy.
Yeah I'm glad you got a chuckle, maybe someone should tell him to Stop Drop and Roll. When other politicians in your own party flat out call you a liar you have a credibility problem, he had it four years ago and had a chance to come clean, and say he was mistaken, or changed his mind, or just go to "confession" with the American public but he continues to contradict his past positions without even an attempt to explain it, as if nobody has him on record. It won't be too hard for anybody who wishes to point that out in campaign commercials, and I think it is a big problem for him in as much as whether you are liberal, conservative, Christian, Jewish, Left, Right or whatever it is hard to vote for somebody who you know willingly lies, you can't even fool yourself if you wanted to into pretending this guy believes in a single thing he has done or said. I think that is why he has not blown out the competition, he won Iowa technically, but effectively it was a three way tie, people are reluctant to jump on his bandwagon because they just aren't sure if it is traveling East, West, North, or South today, and if it will continue in that direction tomorrow.
Actually Forrest, someone should tell Mitts to stoop, bend and fart, it will clear his mind...
He started the week at 40% and unbeatable, after Iowa, he was at 38%, after the first debate, he was at 36%. now after the second debate, he's at 34%.
You think some people might not be supporting him anymore? ;-0)
Egilman if politicians still traveled and campained for trains Romney would need his own personal baggage car. They rejected him in 2008 as their nominee and they still don't like him much, and for all the same reasons. They just keep hearing from the republican media that he is the most electable but they sure can't figure out why can they.
And for the life of me I can't see how people can still support him after those horribile debates.
But the media loves him...I think that is the only support he really has. (aside from the Neo-con party hacks)
All these candidates seem to have a handle of what to cut. Healthcare, medicare, social security. But nothing to assist the elderly and disabled in the after. Pain only for the elderly and disabled. None for the wealthy and business.
Plus they are trying to put pressure on the average guy without much on the wealthy guy. I'm not a socialist; I am just a liberal who wants equality. I'm all for all Americans paying their fair share. I'm okay with higher taxes for the middle class, as long as they balance it with programs to offset those costs, create jobs, and fix our economic status. I'm okay with spending cuts and entitlement reforms AS LONG AS the entitlements are not privatized and education and NASA are not touched by the cuts. I just want our nation to be great. I think that anyone who says we should be cutting education is an idiot. Look up what Fareed Zakaria has to say about it. He says we should be PRIORITIZING our education budget, fixing our schools, and helping our students so we can grow again. I heard that we could have had a trillion more dollars in our GDP in 2010 had we fixed our education system. The nations that are beating us in education are investing MORE money in education, not less. I will not vote for anyone who plans to cut education. I suggest that nobody does. Maybe then we can speed up the process of fixing our schools. I know we can do this. I still have hope that everything is going to be alright. I just hope we follow through with it and get things done. Please, please, America. Don't vote for the idiots who want to cut education. I am asking you as a member of the next generation, who wants to be president and help our nation be great again. Don't cut my education. Don't layoff my teachers, double the size of my class, or shorten my school year. If I can muster up the courage to stand out and actually call for a better education system, with merit-based pay (against unions), more education spending (against conservatives), longer school years (against my generation), and be a moderate, can't you agree that there is only one person in the election who is able enough to help us, and that man is in the White House?? I beg of you: don't vote for the GOP. They will do nothing but run us into the ground. They don't know how to run this nation: they pride themselves on their economic experience, but in actuality their ideas don't work. Please, please vote Democratic in 2012, or at least vote for a Republican or Independent who is a moderate and willing to COMPROMISE. Don't vote for the Tea Party or an extremist politician, because they will be the end of us.
AMERICA 2012
Actually, Dr Paul said it clearly, he is NOT advocating ending SS nor Medicare like everyone claims. He is ALL for cutting the budget back to 2006 levels? What's the issue with that?
What is wrong with that? except spending ten times less on the military and no war funding.
I see that the Pres is proposing cutting 1 trillion from the military Budget. Why Now? Is Dr Paul having this far and wide an effect? (Dr Paul was the first to propose cutting the military budget and of cutting 1 trillion altogether in one year, they all called him crazy)
Politicians on both sides are stealing his ideas? Is it because they are reading the polls and are seeing that this is what the American People really WANT!
Sounds to me like they are ALL afraid for their jobs, so, they are taking positions now looking towards the elections. Personally, if Dr Paul doesn't win, they will all go back to the usual self aggrandizing politics for the smallest slice of americans...
We need to throw them ALL out Republican AND Democrat including that egoist that thinks he's the fourth greatest president of all time..(while he's still in office)
I had forgotten what a nasty piece of work Sununu is, but this interview by Chris Matthews with him brings that into focus. Of course Mittens lied about seeing that ad, and someone SHOULD call him out on it.
And of COURSE Santorum lied about health care reform.
The code of the Republican party is to lie every chance they get, so why are we pretending to be surprised?
On another matter: would NBC at long last find an adult to moderate MTP? Gregory is out of his league.
Of course Mr. Obama lied about being clueless of Rev. Wright's hatred of America.
*stands & applauds*
I'm watching it now & not sure which is more painful, listening to the insane clown posse or Gotcha Gregory!
Dude, 2008 called and they want their talking point back. It's 2012...feel free to catch up with us.
I just can't take Gregory on that show, and I didn't mind him when he was just reporting.
ROFLMAO! I love your avatar Feisty! :-)
Thanks Turnabout!
You know the old saying about 'if the shoe fits'! ☺
Chris's interview with Sununu just shows they think Romney lost the debate, Sununu was really angry and not vary smart.
Michael you really have nothing to say do you. Regurgitating talking points from 4 years ago.
Noid said: Dude, 2008 called and they want their talking point back. It's 2012...feel free to catch up with us.
Catching up with you guys would be stepping back even further than 2008. When was the last time Bush was mentioned as causing every problem under the sun? I'll remind you of your statement Noid, the next time Bush is mentioned by a liberal on these boards... K?
Bush.
Lawrence O'Donnell, is much better suited for asking people tough questions and not letting them go without a response than Gregory, I also have seen O'Donnell apologize to people when he was in the wrong or they were not treated fairly and that is the other side of the coin for that kind of task, I respect him for that. Hell I think Luke Russert would be better than Gregory, it must be a seniority thing. Someone should advise Gregory to at least lose the inappropriate and frankly goofy half smile on his face while he is waiting for a reply.
Gregory was a real tool, doesn't have a clue on how to run a lean mean debate.
I could go with O'Donnell, Blitzer is good, I could even handle Russert, but This guy shouldn't be allowed near a question and answer session one on one much rather than a Debate...
Romney just said ending Obamacare will save $95 billion dollars a year. Obamacare cuts our deficit. It doesn't add to it. Does he think we are stupid? Or we should only count extended out cuts on Republican ideas, not Democratic ones?
You are ill-informed. Obama care now has been costed out by the OMB, and surprise, surprise it does not save a cent. You cannot keep your doctor.
And yes...Obama does think we are stupid. Is that not evident? He expects you (us) to believe we are safer, unions are good for the nation, higher energy costs are good, it is OK to ignore the Constitution.
Look at who got 90% of the Obama care waivers.
He thinks you do not notice he left Iraq on Bush's time table. He has increased drone strikes in Pakistan and he has not ( nor should he) close Guantanamo.
Unions are great for the nation, they give people a safe work place, a uniform set of work rules, a decent wage rate, and most often health care coverage, and a retirement plan. They allow people to make a decent living and raise a family with some security that they can provide the things their wife and family needs, without depending on government programs. Retired union members are not the ones depending solely on the government for their health care costs and food-stamps for their day to day existence, those are the Yaallmart type employees who need the federal government and the rest of us to subsidize, their health care and retirement. I have had a ton of medical bills non of which were ever picked up by some government program like medicaid all paid for by my union health and welfare plan. If SS goes bankrupt, I still will retire with a decent income due to my Union pension plan. Now tell me how is that bad for America?
So Forrest,
Why don't we get one of those Union supporting Democrats to propose legislation mandating that ALL employers in the U.S. pay Union scale prevailing wages and benefits packages for ALL wage hour employees in America?
One Federal Law that covers EVERYONE! WE are already 1/4th of the way there with minimum wage laws. So we know it is legal, why hasn't someone done this yet? seems like such a simple concept and proposal.
Id love that, but republicans are trying to lower the minimum wage and destroy existing prevailing wage laws, they better be careful for what they wish for. I like your idea of democrats proposing opposite legislation.
And have you fact checked President Obama's cost saving statements during the healthcare debate ? We never hear of all the mis-statements made, waivers granted, student loans tied in, taxing of US citizens overseas, and of course, we now know there are indeed Death Panels in this legislation.
Cerk: "Death Panels?"
Mary -- do you prefer the term "health-care rationing". Either way if care is rationed because of cost it may cause death.
james: Don't insurance companies do that now? Is that anything new?
Mary,
Not only do the Health Insurance companies ration care they will do everything they can to stop coverage for anyone at risk of costing them more money than their risk managers and accounts (computer models) declare acceptable.
You know we Democrats have won when the tea people GOP republicans like Cerk, James and Micheal have to regurgitate talking points form 2008. You guys are lost in the woods, and nobodies looking for you.
So what you are telling everyone Dennis, is if I have a health insurance plan and I get a catastrophic illness, they will ration me and let me die? Or does your statement have a different meaning? It appears as though your generalized statement slants your view to support only Obamacare. I'm just looking to see if this is your intent.
I know about the monitary caps on health insurance. If there are monitary caps on our system now, wouldn't there also be caps on Obamacare?
Yes there necessarily would be, the difference may be that if you have a non profit type health care trust fund then the drive for ever higher profits as is the goal of private health insurers reduces the practice of looking for ways to exclude, limit and cancel coverage on people who have paid there premiums but then were bailed out on because their treatment was not cost effective. But yes any plan has to have an upper limit or the hospital would bill you a million dollars every time they thought the insurance company would cover it. Obviously the health insurance industry does not like it but as soon as you change from private insurance to a non profit health care trust fund you get about 20% more health care for your health insurance dollars, the health care insurance industry rakes a tremendous amount of profit right off the top, their quarterly profits have rivaled the oil industry even throughout this economic recession.
You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimention. A dimention of sound.... of sight.... A dimention of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas... you have just crossed over to Obamacare.
Brian,
As much as I like Rod Serling, channeling him won't help most of these candidates, nice thought though.....
All the candidates, except Huntsman, talk as if they are running to replace Congress, not to be president. The Constitution should be mandatory reading and they should be called out when they say, "I will...". The voters need to be informed about policy issues, not one man government - demagogues on parade.
As usual ( I had hoped for a change) leftest folks just have racism, bigotry and intolerance on their minds. It never changes. The black unemployment numbers went up to 15%, have you nothing to say. Is it racism to point this out? Or it it racism to ignore it?
We have 2008 talking points...really! Just heard Madame Pelosi latest rant " it's all Bush's fault. You know the Bush y'all hoped would be a one term President.
OK lets not talk about 2008, agreed? Tet us discuss 09,10 and 11. Do you really wish to discuss this Presidents success? Motives, judgement.
BTW How is that VOLT working out for you?
I would imagine that electric cars of all types are working out better and better for their owners as the price of gas will never come down and will in fact increase, it cannot do anything but increase, it is a finite resource sold on the world market to the highest bidder. Did you notice fuel prices jumped back up even though America drastically cut it gasoline consumption due to higher MPG's on newer vehicles and conservation due to the recession, our refineries are now selling that gasoline on the world market and those exports of gasoline are driving the price back up, even though demand in this country has dropped. We can't make oil, we can make all the electricity we want, we have lots of ways to make electricity at will, we can create all the electrical power we wish to virtually anywhere we wish. We never have to worry about a foreign nation interrupting or interfering with our supply of electricity, we are in total control of how much we wish to produce, and we can produce it in a variety of ways. This electricity is neat stuff.
These Republicans are the same old crap. Americans evidently don't know what a right to Work State is, they better find out before Nov. Elections. They will never ever know, what the American Dream is, if,; they Favor Right to Work States.Unions is the only way to get to the American Dream.Republicans favor right to work as that makes the rich richer, they only favor the rich to get richer they Hate Unions Period. why doesn't any one understand that, they are the 1% Party and do not want anything else. They do not want Obama to accomplish anything,I mean anything, also the people in Gov. should not make any more than the Average American, same with their Insurance and all their PERKS they get.To HELL with this trickle down economics, it has never worked and never will, this is why OBAMA became President to change that trickle down economics, also remember who got us into this mess!! Famous Bush, and the Republicans,We Know Bush did not keep his promises, that is a known fact,so stop blaming our Presidrnt,Obama inherited this mess we find America in.Obama has done a GREAT Job,and will continue,he should remain in office,so his promises he made to American people can be fulfilled 3-4 years is not long enough to get the job done,ROME was not built in a day. Obama was elected for Change, the do nothing Congress kept him from doing just that, one can't get the job done when one does not have cooperation from the other side. No compromise etc.Republicans HATE OBAMA, PERIOD.. and also he is Black, (sure I have been very upset with Obama, very upset) but I won"t be on the side of the Party of "NO" period. the"OBSTRUCTIONST" that is the loosing side, PERIOD. Everyone under the 1% are on the loosing side.Romney is a Crook,(check his record) they all are crooks, check their records,Gingrich is a big time crook The only reason they want Obama out of Office is because he is BLACK!!! These Repulicans HATE OBAMA,(and black)so they refused to work with him, even on the JOBS Bill,or anything, the Dems and Obama try to get done,Reagan was never that way,(which these Republicans want to compare themselves to,)they are liars, none even compare to Reagan, although he was trickle down too, that was when our major debt came into effect, the Reagan years. MC CONNELL (the STIFF), BOEHMER,and of course, crazy CANTOR, fought OBAMA every inch of the way,and had to become the party of "NO""Obstructionist". Americans WAKE UP!
I have to admit, sometimes unions can be trouble. But there are ways to fix that. I don't want to live in a Republican America. I want to live in Obama's America. If that makes me an idiot than so be it. If that makes me an Obama cultist, a liberal know-nothing, a lefty, a socialist, a Marxist, a hippy, so be it. I don't care. Only Obama has shown the maturity to compromise. Now he is on the offensive, and I like that. Brianb, go ahead and blast me. You too Cerk and every conservative commentator out there. But I won't stand and watch America die. Neither should you. But that is your choice, not mine.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
AMERICA 2012
So Freshiee,
IF, a big IF, Obama just happens to lose, you will leave the country? I"m not trying to critisize, just pointing out a fallacy, and why it is one of the major problems in America today.
It seems like that people believe that only the politician they support is what is good for America and themselves, anyone that thinks anything else is to be disregarded as a kook, a nutcase, a Liberal/Conservative shill, someone who is going to take the milk out of your baby's mouth.
Is this really the way you think?
No, I'll stay. And now, this isn't the way I think. At least not before I get incensed or angered or saddened by some event...
And yes, this is a major problem in America. Sometimes I wonder whether we CAN get out of this partisan mentality. There is a way, actually. Elect either Obama (well, the GOP will still be made) or Huntsman (Dems might be mad, so will GOP, they might ally). Obama tried to unite the country and he failed. Maybe if he loses, Huntsman could unite us. Romney can't. He's already scared off some independents with his right-wing rhetoric.
CERK I'm sorry it is the Right that are Racist and Bigots....
lukababy
I'm sorry, Racists and Bigots abound on both sides of the political aisle.
Facts don't really matter in the republican debates during the primaries - it's just a beauty contest. I can't wait til they get to the talent portion of the competition!
During the talent portion Mitt Romney can juggle his positions!
"sanitarium Santorum" is completely WRONG! He is either a "Pathological Liar" or just unable to think, read, research the correctly on his own. No way does the "Richie Rich Ryan Plan" give any opportunities for anyone to get the same insurance as Congress does. There is NO WAY that the Richie Rich Ryan Plan will destroy the safety net set up for our elderly. That is fact! Now for the GOP Clowns are Cognitively Disabled, and are just "Beeing Dumb" too think differently. Oh! Yes! That is right! GOP Johny has no problem "Beeing Dumb!" Now the is just as "Scary" as Perry economically, poltically, socially, and culturally. Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! The Party Of NO has got to go!!
I sure hope little ricky santorium wins the nomination though
Little Ricky Sanotorium has never told the truth in his political life. Go back to your padded cell and don't sit down too much or else you'll smother your brains-- or what's left of them.

The daily attack mode has begun for the liberals. Asking incoherent questions like what has the GOP put up as an alternative to Obamacare if it gets repealed... Huh? In what world do you reside? Why does there HAVE to be an alternative? Why not just let it die?
You mean, 'let them die', of course. You have decent insurance, the hell with anyone else.
And yet, the Republicans keep telling us that we're a Christian, and the Constitution says 'provide for the general welfare'. In the late 1730's, the combined churches of New York City appealed to the colonial government because they could not sustain the sick, poor and hungry on their own.
How times have changed...not!
Ok, I meant to say that Republicans say we're a Christian nation. But of course that doesn't mean we actually have to do what Jesus wants us to as a nation, right?
We are a Christian nation when the label benefits us only. There is nothing Christian about the way we weage war, there is nothing Christian about the way we want to treat the poor and suffering, there is nothing Christian about excluding members of our society bases on sexual preference the only reason people claim to be Christian or label us a Christian nation is because they thing it makes us better in comparison but it doesn't. When the Christian churches accept all people maybe but that is a long way away.
I am not a bible scholar but I don't recall Jesus asking anybody for an insurance card before he healed them.
And George Washington never required a proclamation from god before allowing someone to call himself an American either.
Santorum is a CHINO (CHristian In Name Only).
Drewster what a great comment..How true it is..
How true it is...
Sure is, he is against abortion for any reason except when his wife needed a late term abortion to save her life............chino indeed.
The GOP response to healthcare is to shrug their shoulders and say that we just can't afford for everyone to have access to healthcare..........they make no bones about it.
Rick Santorum, in endorsing Paul Ryan's plan, said during the debate this morning that if implemented, Americans could get the same kind of plan members of Congress have.
^ Oh you bleeping liar. Did you swap brains with Michelle Bachmann or what??????
The whole point of Ryan's plan is to privatize and eventually destroy medicare.
GOP is nothing but a scumbag party of liars who talk to audience that presumably has no brains!!!!
Asking incoherent questions like what has the GOP put up as an alternative to Obamacare if it gets repealed... Huh? In what world do you reside? Why does there HAVE to be an alternative? Why not just let it die?
^ This is what happens when you watch too much Fox News, it results in an inability to process information or face reality.
Anyway, here's one reason why:
Because millions of people would lose their health care benefits.
More than 2.5 million adults younger than 26 have stayed on their parents' health insurance plans because of a provision in last year's health care law. - USATODAY.
^ If you want to deny this, or fight about it, please reply, I would love to correct whatever brainwash job the GOP has obviously done on you.
