Frank, I don't think so. With Congress not in session, maybe the schedule is two debates, and NH.
Speaking of the debates, I know one is on NBC but haven't caught when and what station the other one will be on.
JoAnne, you caught that, too. Well, I can't sue, it's a little different title. Who knows, maybe my Friday wraps gave our FR hosts the idea for their own and if so, great.
Spanky, it isn't the number, but the trend and most of all the narrative. Media piles on a topic, for better or worse. Rick Santorum had the intern, or retiree stringer last week, this week he's big news and being stalked by familiar names and talking heads. If he's 4th in NH, it's back to the 3rd stringers....
When unemployment was decreasing under Clinton, or Reagan, did that ALSO highlight the DECLINE of our country? Of course not, as your comment isn't being made from historical perspective, say TEN years from now, but at the beginning of a trend. If unemployment continues to decline, republicans will be forced to change the NARRATIVE of gloom and doom, or risk being behind the trend of public opinion.
Blaming the President for a bad economy has the converse in allowing him to take credit for an improving one, doesn't it?
As to the almighty "right track-wrong-track" Do you know what it was in 2004? How did it impact on the incumbent? It was like 60-65% wrong track in November 2004. That was why Kerry cru...oh wait a minute, Kerry LOST, despite the almighty track being wrong by more than THIRTY POINTS!!!
Jody---I think it would be great if you re-posted the weekly wrap up on this thread, too. A lot of folks who visit here only on the weekends might enjoy reading it.
I should have thought a lib would think of something unrelated to the point.
I should have known you were too obtuse to understand that the tax rate in communist China is much better than here in America where Obama threatens new taxes everyday.
I should have known you wouldn't understand the additional cost associated with Obamacare, with Obama's war on energy and those higher costs, Obama's war on business .... the incessant demonizing, Obama's regulation explosion ...
Chrysler sales up 27% last month. Chrysler also pledged an ADDITIONAL 1,100 jobs at the Chrysler Jefferson North Assembly plant in Detroit.
Kind of vindicates Obama and Bush for their loans to GM and Chrysler doesn't it? But we can't re-elect Bush. :o) If you are one of the families that snags one of those 1,100 jobs,.....then you're liking Obama just fine.
Hard work never hurt Democrats. And Republicans? Let us know when they work and we'll let you know.
GOPis, I remember VP Cheney upset that the GOP was refusing to give loans to the auto industry; he commented something about the GOP being the party of Hoovervilles.
Really, GOP? Insinuating Republicans are lazy and somehow adverse to working hard is a recurring theme of yours. Tell me you do not really believe that gross generalization. Please?
Funny thing about bankruptcy ... how devastating it is ... the poor Texas Rangers never ever went to the World Series, yet they went to bankruptcy and that year and the year after .... every year since bankruptcy ... they go to the World Series!
I'm sure the Ranger fans would have much prefered the federal government coming in, buying the team, firing the Nolan Ryan and putting a bureaucrat in charge ...
Not fair analogy right?
Why not.
The Rangers caught fire and went to the big show .... GM Volts caught on fire (even if their sales didn't).
1. Have there been any sightings of Governor Perry in New Hampshire this week? I mean, after "reassessing" his campaign he tweeted that his next stop was South Carolina.
2. The GOP is crying foul over President Obama's recess appointments this week. They want to claim that the Senate is still in session because of the pro forma sessions that are currently being held. Today was the first such session held since the announcement of the recess appointments. Wouldn't the GOP have done themselves a favor by showing up en masse in the Senate chambers today?
3. Debate Double-Header! As the great Ernie Banks said, "Let's play two!" Tomorrow night at 9 PM on ABC and then Sunday morning (yes, Sunday morning) at 9 AM on NBC. Is Rick Santorum ready to be a front-runner? Here's the first two tests. Get your popcorn...and pancakes!
Da Noid, I should have read your post before I asked about the debate time and station tomorrow night.
I don't think the GOP has a leg to stand on with their pro forma sessions. One or two senators turning on the lights and staying for one minute does not constitute the Senate being in session. What have they done besides turn on the lights, say a word and leave. They really disgust me these days with their obstruction as well as all their huffing and puffing.
Steeler Fan, waffles would be a perfect tribute; with Maine blueberries, even better.
What have they done besides turn on the lights, say a word and leave.
Funny you should ask. Actually, I did a little research and a few things happened on Tuesday in the last pro forma session before the recess appointments. You can read about them here...
Chris Matthews interviewed Newt Gingrich tonight. I am no fan of Newt Gingrich, he's called a bomb thrower for a reason. That said, having seen Romney's nasty, mean and vicious attack ads on him; having received dozens of robo calls with the same information, I can understand why he is so bitter and feel a tiny bit sorry for him. But that tiny shred of pity leaves quickly because Gingrich he claims to be angry and upset because Romney lied yet Newt Gingrich gets on a stage nearly every day and viciously attacks President and flat out lies while doing it. Cannot help thinking that for Newt--what goes around, comes around.
So unemployment went down to 8.5% and that good news.
Sadly this really does highlight the decline of our country. 8.5% is considered a good number.
That's probably why the Wrong Track number is at 70%.
Not good in the overall. Not one bit.
Hmmm...did we replace "The Week Ahead" with "The Week That Was"? ;-)
And does Jody, Iowa get to sue for copyright infringement? ;)
LOL...Joanne, that was my first thought as well!

I keep telling you Jody - you should re-post your wraps on the Week Ahead... ;o)
Your 'fan base' is expanding rapidly!
Frank-Haha, good point...;)

So much for that, huh?

Have a great weekend all!
Jody---I think it would be great if you re-posted the weekly wrap up on this thread, too. A lot of folks who visit here only on the weekends might enjoy reading it.
Jody,
I believe the other debate is on ABC. NFL wild card games are on CBS and FOX this weekend.
SF, great idea, I'll remember that for next week.
For now, I think we should head to the Dew Drop Inn for cocktail hour.
I'll race ya! lol
I have some of that special cranberry juice you like! ;o)
.....and I got the Absolute Citron Feisty doll.
Oh MY!
I would really like to try one of your infamous pomegranate martini's! ;o)
Stirred, not shaken, of course!
Absolute ROCKS!
Freisty and GOP,
I have the cocktail shaker...
Looking forward to a great debate Sat evening. I plan to watch on the big screen at the DDI.
My first toast will be to Jody for surviving all those negative ads in Iowa.
Have one for me, everyone, and have a wonderful weekend.
Hey Frank, do you live in an apartment above a bowling alley and below another bowling alley?
I wonder what the unemployment rate would be at if we brought back all of the jobs from India and China, and repealed the H1B Visa legislation?
Ever wonder what the unemployment rate would be if Obama's America were as friendly to American business as a communist country?
Amazing things happen when you pay your workers next-to-nothing.
“Amazing things happen when you pay your workers next-to-nothing.”
Oh so true and yet Russia saw unemployment at nearly 30%
Good point Da Void,
I should have thought a lib would think of something unrelated to the point.

Sorry .. just way above your level, huh?

Yea ... who needs free enterprise, huh?
Funny thing about bankruptcy ... how devastating it is ... the poor Texas Rangers never ever went to the World Series, yet they went to bankruptcy and that year and the year after .... every year since bankruptcy ... they go to the World Series!

The Rangers caught fire and went to the big show .... GM Volts caught on fire (even if their sales didn't).
Yeah,
Who was that that owned the Rangers in the 1990's?
I know it'll come to me.............
What would be really cool ...... if a relevant response would come to you.
NiceWeak try at deflection, though. It was quite The Week that Was with more to come. GOP debates this weekend and the NH primary Tuesday will keep FR busy.
A few thoughts to end the week:

I'm thinking we should serve waffles on Sunday morning, Da Noid, in honor of Gov. Romney. Perhaps Amy will send us some Maine blueberries!
...and you win the genuine "No Prize" for making the first obligatory waffle joke!
Da Noid, I should have read your post before I asked about the debate time and station tomorrow night.

Maple syrup is nice with waffles. Sort of representing the sticky situations the candidates might find themselves in.

GO LIONS!!
Stomp em' like you did San Diego!!
Mark in So. Cal.
Most republicans in my acquaintance are overweight flab glaciers with more chins than a Chinese phone book.
Most in politics are not "self made". They are creatures of inherited entitlement. Wealthy, lazy, and would not know how to start their own car.
So: "yes"
hmmmm, GOP's lights are on, but it is apparent that no one is home.
GOPisextinct: "Most in (GOP) politics are not "self made". They are creatures of inherited entitlement."
Herman Cain and a lot of other Republicans beg to differ.
You are showing your ignorance and bias.
P.s. Ask the Kennedy family ( Democrats) how they got "rich" and ended up in politics. It's not a pretty story.
