Obama agenda: President speaks to Iowa Democrats

President Obama holds an event on the economy in Cleveland, OH, and he speaks at 1:15 pm ET.

“Trying to drown out the Republican din Tuesday night, President Obama said his first three years in office have shown he is making good on his 2008 campaign pledge to bring hope and change,” the New York Daily News writes. “‘In some ways, I’m actually more optimistic now than I was when I first ran, because we’ve already seen change take place,’ Obama said in a Web chat with Democrats in Iowa, who held their own caucus, albeit symbolic, on the same night as the GOP. ‘And part of what 2012 is about is ... reminding the American people of how far we’ve traveled.’

More: “Obama used the video talk to tick off the promises he has kept since he won the contested Iowa Democratic caucus in 2008: ending the Iraq War and expanding the number of people with medical insurance and a variety of middle-class tax break.”

Obama makes pretty speeches and is quite charismatic. Then again, so is a snake-oil salesmen. The medicine he's selling for change is sickening our country even more.

The Narcissist-in-Chief is at it again. No sooner than the Iowa caucuses are over, then he must run to that state and make his presence known.

Does anyone care to bet how many days after the New Hampshire primary before Obama shows up there ? I will bet he shows up in New Hampshire in no less than a week after the Republican primary. He is sooooooooo scared of losing his power that he will DO ANYTHING to get re-elected.

The media has focused on President Obama's opposition, breathlessly interviewing primary voters, as if Republican voters are more important than Democratic voters.

I got news for you. I'm a Democrat and I support Barack Obama, and so do millions of other people in this country. The Republicans gave us two terms of George Bush, and now they want to foist a billionaire creep on us, who promises to bring back jobs by doing exactly what George Bush did, which drove jobs away. My God, if President Obama had allowed the auto industry to go bankrupt, as the Republicans say they would have, thousands and thousands more people would have lost their jobs and we'd be in a deep Depression now, instead of on the road to recovery.

Last week, I read a few articles on Obama's "ground game" in Iowa- the goal was to best Bush's showing in 2004. Bush, by the way, had three thousand out to caucus for him.

It took quite a search for me to discover that, despite the web address to the remaining cult members, Obama fell short of his goal.

Well short. Like, a third.

He got 1094 true believers to show up.

This was to be a test of the ground game- how well he could mobilize his troops. Well, I guess now we know.

Obama shelved in 2012.

U.S. citizens were the real winners last night. Iowa voters spoke and Americans all across this country got to see the results.

Leave it to a libbie to turn politics into sexual innuendo as an attempted put-down. It's all you've got ..... Obama's poor record in handling the economy and unemployment while accelerating national debt will be his downfall. Speeches and villifying Republicans will only carry his sorry butt so far.

120,000 Iowa voters spoke but could not reach a consensus. True, Bachmann and Perry can likely be counted out, but with such a close outcome, Republicans have a way to go before they narrow it down to just one nominee. It would be helpful for their cause if they didn't try to mix conservative government concepts with conservative social issues...they're counter-intuitive.

US seeks closer ties with Islamists in historic shift in Egypt policy

Reversal reflects growing acceptance of Muslim Brotherhood's assurances of democracy

By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK and STEVEN LEE MYERS

    The New York Times

CAIRO — With the Muslim Brotherhood pulling within reach of an outright majority in Egypt’s new Parliament, the Obama administration has begun to reverse decades of mistrust and hostility as it seeks to forge closer ties with an organization once viewed as irreconcilably opposed to United States interests.

The administration’s overtures — including high-level meetings in recent weeks — constitute a historic shift in a foreign policy held by successive American administrations that steadfastly supported the autocratic government of President Hosni Mubarak in part out of concern for the Brotherhood’s Islamist ideology and historic ties to militants.

    Morons.

I pointed out a few items of the day....

Mr. Obama's heath care law (that 70% of Americans opposed) GREATLY reduces my ability to sock away pre-tax dollars fo my own health savings account (unlimited pre-Obamacare to $2500 per year as of 12-31-12) and this administration is making great strides to "heal" our relationship with the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD!

Are you kidding me?!?! Then to top it off, on 12-31-11 Mr. Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act for the 2012 fiscal year with one new "tool".....The ability to detain anybody...ANYBODY including American citizens indefinately! And you liberals bitched about Bush?!?!

Mere childs play compared to this Joker.

Now all of the First Read liberals want to bitch about a picture on my account used to illustrate this joker without ONE word defending what I have pointed out. Don't scratch your head to hard when this cat gets smoked in the November election.

Even the liberals can't defend him....lol...TFF

I pointed out a few items of the day....

Well, michael1969; please allow ME to point out "a few items of the day..."

Other presidents and lawmakers tried for 70 years to pass health reform -- but this president took on the insurance industry and got it done. When President Obama took office, nearly 150,000 troops were deployed in Iraq; in December, the last American troops there left. The middle class was under assault for decades, and this administration worked to make the tax code more fair and give all working families the tax cuts they deserve. And since taking office, President Obama has taken the most significant federal action ever to reduce greenhouse gases and our dependence on foreign oil -- almost doubling our fuel-efficiency standards for cars and light trucks.

These aren't talking points. These are facts.

It's 2012. More and more people are going to start paying attention to this race, and fast. But the Republicans have apparently decided to make this easy for us -- because when the GOP/TEA side's strategy is to distort the record, all you need to push back with is reality.

Watch this video, get the facts.

President Obama has stabilized the economy which was turned over to him in free fall by his predecessor. It is about time the republicans look up from their insane mailings and notice the truth of our economy. It is coming back and President Obama has worked hard to make it so.

The republicans wanted to allow the American automotive industry to disappear but President Obama would not allow that to happen.

The republicans wanted our financial sector to crash into ruin but President Obama would not allow that to happen.

The republicans wanted people without health care or the ability to purchase health insurance to dissapear from site but President Obama would not allow that to happen. Fifty million more Americans are on-track to health care coverage, thanks to President Obama.

The republicans wanted Wall Street to write their own rules, even after they drove us into the ditch, but President Obama made sure that Wall Street knows there are limits to acceptable damge from their quarter.

President Obama has worked to make the US more energy secure. The green energy initiative has sprouted as we now have electric vehicles in our selection of vehicles to purchase and wind, solar and geothermal projects have exceeded goals. Both oil and natural gas production have increased yearly.

President Obama has even made British Petroleum clean up their own mess and make amends to those devastated by their careless management of drilling rigs.

While the republicans spent the last three years tearing the nation down our president stood against them and improved the condition for many Americans.

Thank you James! Watching the Republican primary has made me crazy, especially listening to Mitt Romney declare he will "bring back jobs! Thousands of them!" using the same tactics that drove them away in the first place.

Romney declares he would have let the American automotive industry die instead of bailing them out, and how would that have helped the economy? All three American auto companies are profitable, for the first time since 2004, thanks to President Obama. We're back, baby!

Romney is a clever man and very capable of spinning lies toward his gains. To me this is expected from serial runners for political office.

What Romney has to be called on is his personal influence in the cannibalization of American industry through his equity fund fiasco. he stole billions from the working Americans as he sent our industry overseas. Romney is very much one of the characters who devastated our manufacture base.

If Romney is the republicans man it should be interesting watching them try to sell the devastation of our economy as a positive.

Thanks James for your posting which is true. I will add that the Republicans main objective during the recession was to make it worst (NUMBER ONE PRIORITY - DEFEAT PRESIDENT OBAMA), they don't care about making the country better with an African American in charge, they are to afraid that another intelligent African American will come along later with their actions, they can say African American's can't lead. They would hate for him to succeed. President Obama has already succeeded as far as I'm concern, he did what he could with what he had. CHANGE THE CONGRESS NOW!!!

Congress, they say, is the opposite of progress. It has never been more clearly obstructive since the 1860's. Republicans want to tout "leadership failure" and lack of progress, which they have been working hard to bring about. The more people get hurt, the better they believe their plan will work. They are so anti-populist that they publicly oppose consumer protection, measures to improve the economy, and all job creation legislation. Employment will begin a faster recovery if Republicans in Congress are fired this fall.
